Her uncle had forbidden her from wandering across the border for the next few weeks. She'd asked for an explanation but he had been relatively vague, muttering about migrations, hyenas and rogues. Nevertheless, no matter how much she had argued he was not going to be swayed and after her momentary huff she had accepted that he must have his reasons - Xenon always had his reasons and it was usually for the best that he was obeyed.
It was for this reason that she now found herself wandering along a very familiar coast line, occasionally kicking up the sand with her well splayed claws. Suffice to say that she was not a feline who struggled to walk on this unsteady ground, she'd been born and raised on the sand and as such, she didn't slip or tumble at all. That being said, rumour had it that foreign lions (including her uncle) struggled for quite some time before they adapted and were able to walk properly - it must have been quite a funny sight indeed.
Alas, there was no point in pondering over it until the opportunity to witness it came along and as such, Zephyranthes set to work. She was on the look out for a particular plant. She didn't really understand it's full uses as of yet, but she'd heard rumours and she intended to see if they were true. Thus, she soon lowered her gaze to the ground and set about locating what she needed...

Sands were no strange thing to Chosimba, however, beaches were. This was the first time the slender desert dweller had laid eyes on the thing. It was vast with undrinkable water that stretched on as far as he could see. There, on the beach, the lion sat and watched two seagulls fly over head the vast ocean as they fought over some sort of scrap of something or other.
The beach wasn't really where he'd aimed to go but it had been where his paws had finally decided to take him. There was no complaint as it was very beautiful but this did mean he could no longer continue wandering this way. Chosimba would need to change his course and turn around and search for what ever it was he was looking for.
One thing was for sure, he was not going to return back to his family. No, his upbringing and life had not been tragic but it had also been equally uneventful. To say the least it was dull. He'd out grown home and he'd out grown his family. It was time the lion made something of him self and found his own way. What ever that might be.
But that could wait a bit. This beach needed exploring, so up Chosimba got and onward down the beach he started. The lion chose to stroll where the waves met the sand. It was nice to feel the coolness of the ocean rush up against him and try to steal him for one of its own. Chosimba might have fallen to the currents lethal temptations if he had been a cub, but he was a full grown lion. There was a mane and all to prove this.

He was hairy, not quite as bulky as some of the lions she had seen, but he was big and very fluffy. She might have been so bold as to claim he was fluffier than some of the locals but upon closer inspection she realised that this wasn't true. If anything he was equal to the fluff the beach-bums had, although he was suitably tidier and more well kept. That being said, the type of upkeep required to keep a mane in that shape would have bored most of her pride stupid - it was too proper and prim and most of the Bahari just wanted to relax.
Admittedly they had been a lot busier the last few years as they rebuilt after the tsunami, but as time had gone on and the land was slowly beginning to recover, the locals were taking the opportunity to relax, unwind and enjoy what they had again. This didn't mean that they would ever forget what they had lost or grow complacent in relation to the ocean (and what they owed it), but the atmosphere was now far better than it had been!
Nevertheless, rather than wait until he either stumbled or bumped into her, the lioness placed a wistful smile on her lips and padded towards him - she always liked to interview foreigners, they always had such interesting tidbits of information.
"Hello!" she announced merrily, "Welcome to the Bahari, always nice to see a new face."

The tides lapped at his paws with every step and tried to steal the sand from under his paw pads. There were paw steps in the sand behind him but they were quick to be stolen by the tide. Chosimba was concentrating on this phenomena a little to closely to notice the female walking up to him. He would have bumped in to her and possibly waked over her if he hadn't turned his head at the right moment. There, on Chosimbas face, rested a look of complete confusion to where this girl had come from. She was greeting him to what he assumed to be some sort of pride. "A new face? Your face is just as new to me as mine is to you." He mused with a crooked grin, "Its always nice to meet a new face. Might I ask... Is this a pride of some sort? Have I intruded upon your lands?" It was a good question to ask in case he had. Honestly, he had no intention of bothering any pride on purpose. If it was a pride lands he'd wandered on in to, then they must have been a friendly lot. At least judging from the way the female was so fast to greet him like he was an expected guest.

"Mhm!" she smiled with much more radiance now he had been receptive to her greeting and motioned to the area around them with her paw. "You're in the Bahari'mtoto pridelands," she explained and pointed further down the coasts to where their lay some form of jungle, a river and some high slung cliff faces. Evidently it was quite an extensive territory but equally, a benevolent one as he hadn't been torn apart when he had entered the lands - it was how things always were, so long as you weren't violent or threatening, you were free to travel through undeterred.
"We're the beach lions, for want of a better explanation," she continued and stepped back a little to provide him with some personal space. She had met a few lions that appeared to require this far more than others and she had been warned some got very angry if this space was denied! "But I wouldn't worry about it, you haven't intruded upon us at all - it's not like you're hear stealing our babies and making off with all our damsels," she pointed out, although it was clear she didn't completely understand the second part.
"I used to think that was a joke but apparently there are lions out there that really do steal babies, how mean is that?" she mused and then shook her head rather forcefully. "I'm Zephyranthes by the way, but everyone pretty much calls me 'Zephyr'!"

The lioness went on about the lands and what the pride was. Chosimba took a seat in the foaming waves and listened. The lioness shared information of what the pride was and about the dangers the pride might be currently facing. Or at least fears. None of them were obscure fears either. Cubnapping and female stealing was a common fear around many prides, including the dawn walkers. "I see," He gave her a small nod, "Nice to meet you Zephyr. You can call me Chosimba if you like. As far as cub nappings. I think your pretty safe from me I have no interest in that. Damsels on the other hand, I think that any male might be tempted by that," There the twisted grin spread across his maw. "I'm only joking of course. But as a male I can say we can be devils." His tail neatly wrapped around his paws. "I give my word that I'll control the devil in me while in your territory young miss." He got up and stretched. He wanted to get a better look before just leaving. What was the use of just leaving before exploring? "Would you be so kind as to show me around properly?" ((You can god mod them to another location if you want i dont care x DD))

There were certain places that he couldn't be taken, the guards would have an absolute field day if he was around the dens as a rogue...but there were other much more interesting and ideal places to go in her personal opinion. She saw the dens every day and she suspected that they looked the same everywhere you went - huddled up families all sleeping soundly throughout the day depending on their shift patterns, he didn't need to see that and if he was anything like her, he'd get bored of it quickly.
"I know just the place!" she announced merrily and bounded off, glancing over her shoulder expectantly until he followed her...
******
It hadn't taken very long at all for her to bridge the distance between the shoreline and where she wanted to go and no sooner had they set off than they had landed in the jungle. Admittedly it would be difficult not to notice the twisted and deformed tree line. Many of the fallen trees had been removed by the larger lions but there were still scars from the tsunami - they were slowly healing and the colour was returning to the planets but it wasn't quite the same as it used to be.
"Look, monkeys!" she continued and motioned with her paws, standing on her hindlegs and thrusting her nose upwards to regard the creatures in the trees. Unsurprisingly they returned the favour, peering down at her inquisitively before tossing a piece of fruit in her general direction. "Aren't they cute? They make awesome trinkets."

There was no objection from the male as he followed the female onward. They had reached the jungles of the pride. Before the male could ask really any questions there were monkeys. Lots and lots of monkeys. Chosimba had seen monkeys before on his travels but not this close. They were in the distance usually and Chosimba never saw the need to get a closer look. Cute wasn't a word the lion would use to describe them though. Still, none the less, the lion gave the lioness a nod in agreement. "Fruit? Trinkets? They sound useful," He gave her a nod. Very interesting in deed. The lion took a few paw steps forward toward one of the trees the monkeys perched in. One monkey gave him a smile and tossed a piece of fruit towards him. However, Chosimba had not been ready at all and it hit him square between the eyes. The male let out a displeased grunt. "Rude!" He growled his teeth clenching.

Zephyranthes gave a snort of laughter as he was smacked across the head. She hadn't intended to do so but his reactions were so juvenile that it couldn't be helped. He hadn't been prepared for it but even so, he should have known that there was potential for it to happen at some point. Perhaps it was because he was unaccustomed to these regions or simply the animals that resided here, but she did feel the need to defend the monkeys who had become so useful in restoring the pride to the state it was in now.
"They don't mean to be rude," she explained after a few moments and picked up the fruit, examining it briefly before setting it down again. "It's a way of greeting, they're offering you something to eat so that you can sit with them," she continued and motioned upwards to the group that had now gathered above their heads. Unsurprisingly they remained silent, uncertain of how to proceed with the disgruntled lion.
"Without them we would still be in trumoil and our home would still be destroyed," she explained softly and released a sigh. "Their paws can do things ours can't, and when we needed them most they were there to help us rebuild..."

Epine de Rose Sorry about such a late tag > < <3 The lioness had made a good point. They weren't throwing rocks or twigs, they were throwing fruit. Even so Chosimba wasn't completely happy with being hit square between eyes. There was another grunt given by the lion but he gave her a nod. This pride allying them self with monkies seemed a little odd but he supposed it could be a useful alliance. "..Sorry," He gave the monkeys a glance and the lioness another glance. "I didn't mean to lose my temper," He felt his shoulders fall a bit. "Just hard to really not growl when hit behind the eyes," There was a nervous head shake. He wasn't sure what to say or do. This was now incredibly awkward.

"You call that 'losing your temper'?" she enquired curiously, her eyebrow raising quizically as she regarded the lion. She'd seen a few lions lose their tempers in her time and they definitely didn't look like that. On the contrary, they all seemed to double in size and the huge teeth that became exposed were positively terrifying. Admittedly there had always been someone who intervened and settled the argument diplomatically, but there were a few individuals in the pride who had tempers and well... Chosimba certainly wasn't like that at all.
"I call that having a minor tiff," she pointed out and chuckled, lifting a paw to wave at the monkey before picking up each piece of fruit and setting it by the trunk of the tree. Sadly for felines, there were only a limited number of fruits they could eat and the ones provided didn't fall into that category, so the monkeys could reclaim them as and when they were ready. "Though I find blinking rapidly when smacked between the eyes tends to work well too..."
"Guess everyone has their own way of handling things, huh?" she mused before shaking head. "So, you seem to be able to walk on the sands but you're too soft and fluffy to be from around here," she continued, referring to his mane which hadn't yet been tempered to the salt air. "So where'd you come from?"

The lions jaw slacked a bit hearing that he had a minor tiff and not lost his temper. It was hard to tell what he should be feeling right now. Relief that he hadn't lost his temper or castrated for having, as she referred, a minor tiff. The word tiff alone sounded girly enough. In the end he settled for relief though. Wordlessly he blinked as he was instructed. "Soft and fluffy?!" Okay maybe she was questioning his man hood. Chosimba couldn't very well growl at this female though. After all she was a female and females were delicate. At least in Chosimbas eyes. "I suppose I m not from around here. I'm from the scorching deserts far from here," He gave her a brow raise, "Is it really that obvious I'm not from this region?"

"Blatantly obvious," she replied with a simply shrug and then lifted her paw to brush it against his mane. It sprang back softly as anything would whenever it lacked the influence of the salt air. He stood out a mile in comparison to the others, while the males here always looked windswept, he looked far too well kept and preened... Not that this was a bad thing, she could appreciate that it had it's uses but it did make things fairly obvious!
"Our hair is courser and more wirey," she explained and pressed at her own fur. It wasn't rough, but it was much thicker and had a different texture. Having grown up by the sea this was completely normal to her and as such, the delicate curls that cropped up around her chest and tail were common place. "We also have curls in our fur usually, especially the males," she gave a giggle as she recalled the males of her pride with fondness.
"Where you come from sounds interesting...although I'm not sure how I would survive without being near the ocean," she confessed.

"Oh." He was red behind his blinding white fur with embarrassment. So she wasn't questioning his man hood. It was a huge relief at the very least. Wordlessly he lifted a paw and pressed it to her pelt to feel the wire texture of her fur. Like she said, it was just that. He quickly took his paw back and lifted a brow. "I guess I just didn't really notice before," He frowned. "Definitely not as soft but thats not entirely bad?" He eyed her some more, "I mean its kind of like a grungy look. Makes you look tough." And he stopped before putting his paw in his mouth. Maybe he already had with that bit. "Interesting? I suppose if you like lots of sand and heat. The oceans seems nice," A small smile curled, "But theres so much more I want to go see. Staying in one place isn't something I want to do. I've done that to much in my life time... But I can see where it would be a nice place to pick to stay if you had to pick one place." Though, Chosimba wasn't entirely sure how he felt about the monkeys.

"Mmm, at the moment we're not allowed to leave," she confessed as she wandered away from the trees and began to trace her way down the river. Like everything else, it was clear that it had been changed by the Tsunami too. The larger lions hadn't managed to pull some of the torn tree trunks out of it and a great deal of soil had washed away - that being said the water was running clean again which was a great relief to everyone. "We lost so many of the pride that for the time being we've been asked to stay put..."
It was clear she wasn't overly happy about this.
"But one day I know that'll change, once we've fixed up what we need to we'll be able to see the world as well," she announced and hazarded a smile. She dearly loved her home but sometimes she wondered what was out there. She'd seen so many rogues pass by, watched some nameless ones in their activities and she often wondered what would happen if she ever met them again - suffice to say that some had been mesmerising.
"Then maybe I'll think about exploring some new places," she added after a few moments and motioned to he surroundings. "So how do you find the beach, do you like it or do you have a different place that your favour?"
