Sudhir was quite content at the moment, a feeling he rather enjoyed. It was something new, this feeling that everything was mostly as it should be - having his own territory had definitely turned things around for the young stallion. Now all he needed was a female... but alas, none had thus far come to him, and he was unwilling to leave his little spot to go look for one. But surely, eventually a wandering female Kirin would be enticed by the bit of paradise he'd found, and investigate. It was an absolutely beautiful spot, after all...
Full from the carrots The Boy had stuffed him with that afternoon, Sudhir was trotting toward his favorite spot - the spearmint patch. Parts of it were beginning to show a bit of wear, and the stallion was beginning to realize that perhaps rolling in it every day was a bit excessive... But right now, he was content, well fed, and his back itched - all reasons aplenty to partake in his favorite activity. On reaching the bed of the fragrant plant, he made a few circles in it, looking for the best spot then... 'fwump!' he went, practically falling to the ground, getting on his back. He rocked a little from side to side, wriggling his shoulders and hind-quarters, legs kicking freely in the air as he snorted happily. All around him, the scent of the wonderful, minty plant rose, blocking out other smells. He was completely unguarded in that moment, and had no awareness of anything going on around him, too lost in one of his favorite activities ever.

Gemini was trotting slowly, trying to keep her head up despite the oppressive mood she was feeling. She was still trying to find her place in a new land. She was still trying to find her daughter... Everyone else was lost. She couldn't handle if her child... Her head sunk a little lower, remembering the last time she'd seen that dear face, before...
She squeezed her eyes shut to banish tears away, when suddenly a loud impact caught her attention. Ears perking, she instantly froze, only her eyes moving. That noise hadn't been too far away. What was that? Her brow furrowed slightly as familiar sounds reached her ears. Another kirin?! Maybe it was-! No. The beast past the shrubs sounded too large. Hesitantly, she crept forward, head poking around the foliage to see who was there. Maybe this kirin knew where her daughter might be? Or, at the least... No. Just find out if he knew where her little girl was. That was all. Taking a deep breath, she opened her mouth to address the stranger when she finally caught sight of him. Such a magnificent tail! And those colors!
She cleared her throat quickly, setting herself straight again. "Excuse me!" She called firmly, in her no-nonsense manner."When you've quite finish, I require a moment of your time."

Sudhir was so lost in the pleasant sensations he was feeling that he had no idea another Kirin was near... and so when he heard that clearing of the throat, he nearly jumped out of his skin, hurrying to right himself as quickly as he could. Was it another male? What if this one wasn't so friendly, and he had to fi- but then came the voice, clearly female, and his eyes settled on what he thought might be the most beautiful Kirin he'd ever seen. Caught off-guard, a little stunned, he stumbled a bit, then regained himself. Trying to look proud, competent and as attractive as he could, he took a firm stance before her, neck arched, tail fluffed out proudly. Here, at last, was a female! And one very worth taking under his protection at that!
Excited tension causing the slightest quiver in his body, he cleared his throat in return, then tipped his head to the side. "Hello. I am Sudhir... and anything you require of me, I am happy to give." There... quite the proper hello if he did say so himself! "Especially if you are looking for someone to protect you." he added, eagerness getting the better of him. "I have been waiting for a female to come, and you must be the loveliest Kirin in the whole world, so I'm glad it was you." He was entirely sincere, which removed some of the awkwardness of his speech, but he didn't realize he was potentially putting his hoof in his mouth. "But you said you needed some of my time... what would you have of me?"

Gemini took a quick step back when the male jumped so, lifting her chin a little higher to mask the surprise. He might be one who was easily startled, but she certainly wasn't! His quick change from surprised to confident did impress her a bit, but she wasn't looking for such a thing. Nope.
Listening to his speech, she went through an array of emotions. First, confidence. Finally, someone was willing to help. Second, defensiveness. Who said she needed protecting?! Third, bashfulness and pride. ..He thought she was beautiful.. When had she been last told that by someone other than her child? Once she shoved those thoughts away, she was stuck back to her defensive determination. "I simply have a question. I'm looking for my daughter, and I wish to know if you've seen her. She has my pattern, but black skin, a bit of green on her back, and is orange of mane and tail. She also shares my pearls." Describing her darling daughter made her heart clutch, but she masked such a weak emotion carefully.

Sudhir continued to stare as the beautiful mare spoke to him, listening very carefully to her every word. When she revealed she was looking for her daughter, he pawed at the ground, thinking. "Are you from that Aerithe place too? I met a stallion named Mayur... he was looking for his family, and he said he was from another world. I thought he was a little crazy for saying that... but maybe I was wrong." After all, is she said it was true, then it must be. The young stallion was clearly entranced, and while he was trying to hide it, he wasn't doing a very good job.
"I haven't seen your daughter though. I, ah... I don't talk with many others. I've been alone for a long time... since I can remember. And I'm sure I'd remember if I'd seen her, even from afar, if she's as beautiful as you." He paused, then pawed at the ground again. "If you've been traveling as long as Mayur had been, you must be thirsty... shall I show you to my stream? There's a pond too, where the lilies are just starting to bloom... you might like that. And I have a meadow... I can show you all the best spots to graze." Now that she was here, he desperately wanted her to stay... but if she had a daughter, she probably already had a male protector... they'd probably separated to look for her, though he didn't think much of a stallion who'd let his mare go off on her own. "Or is there something else you would like? I know this place very well... if it can be found here, I know where it is." he informed her, sounding quite proud of that fact. "Before you tell me what you want though... could I know your name?"

Gemini flinch unconciously when her homeland was mentioned. Chin lowering back down, she turned her head away slightly and nodded. So many memories of Aerithe. Memories that now caused pain and heartache. "We were apart when the migration started.." She spoke softly, clearly showing a mother's loss. When she realized just how clear she was being, she stiffened back up right away, lifting her chin again and glaring at the poor male with stoney eyes, daring him to attempt comforting her.
She was soon distracted from her stubborn pride by a fresher, newer pride. That of a mother. "Yes.. She's very beautiful." She murmured, actually smiling a little. Sudhir's list caught her attention once more, and she shook her head. Perhaps a drink, but there was little time to waste in her mind. She took in a breath to reply, but suddenly held it in. Then, she exhaled slowly. "I won't be here long enough for learning my name to be necessary." She said coldly, reinforcing the wall that she had built around herself. It was too late for her to pretend she hadn't heard his name, but she could keep hers to herself and prevent any hope forming in the first place. She didn't need his help, his kindness...

When Sudhir saw how upset his question had made her, he was dismayed - he hadn't meant to make her sad! He nearly stepped forward to nuzzle her, to offer comfort... but then she seemed to firm again, surprising him. Didn't she want comfort? Apparently not, and Sudhir pawed the ground a moment, a bit nervous; he'd thought dealing with a female would be easy... perhaps he needed to rethink. "I am sorry... I should not have asked." he murmured politely.
The stallion was pleased to see his compliment to her daughter seemed to warm her a little, but saddened that she hesitated at his offer of creature comforts. Then she refused to give her name, and the stallion blinked, a bit put off. "But... you must have been traveling for a long time. A bit of rest would do you no harm. If..." Sudhir paused, a pang of disappointment running through him at the thought that she would go. "If you must continue your search, don't you think you should take rest and food and water where you can get it? Teana is a large place - I know, I have walked over a lot of it. You may not always have a chance to rest your hooves and get a good meal." He hesitated, then peered at her a moment. "If I told you I knew where there are some very good berries, would you stay a while to eat?" If that didn't warm her, he might be willing to share The Boy again, though he still wasn't sure he liked the idea of sharing a place in his affections with any other Kirin. But this beautiful mare deserved to be admired, and he was sure The Boy would exclaim over her quite a bit.

Tail twitching slightly, Gemini was forced to re-evaluate her situation. She didn't know these lands very well, while this male apparently did. Considering how long it had taken her to get used to the lands of Aerithe... The last time she had allowed a guide, he had stolen her heart and then broken it. Sudhir was correct though... wandering aimlessly wouldn't do her much good. Also, the talk of fresh berries had caught the attention of her empty belly.
She allowed him to finish making his case before she carefully cleared her throat again. "You sure are persistent." She huffed, still determined to make it seem like she didn't need his help. "You'll probably follow me if I try to leave." She gave a heavy sigh and nodded. "Alright. I will stay for just a little while. A drink, berries, and a rest, but that is all." She said sternly, stepping out fully from the protection of the bushes. She gave herself a quick glance to make sure nothing had gotten stuck in her tail, and faced the male again. Speaking of tails... The gentler side of her peeked out for a moment, showing as her stance relaxed a hair. "If you wouldn't mind, I would like to return the compliment. I've never seen a tail like yours before. ..It's quite lovely."

Sudhir felt a flash of triumph when the female agreed to stay, and he nearly gave a happy prance, but managed to keep a stern, proud stance. "Good, I am glad. It would be terrible if you were too weak to spot danger in your travels because you would not take care of yourself." It was at that point that he almost offered his protection, but he remembered her reaction when he mentioned she might need it, and managed to keep his mouth shut. He watched with a keen eye as she stepped out of the bushes, unsurprised to see that the rest of her was just as lovely as what he'd already seen. When he saw the baubles in her tail, he blinked, registering the strands in her mane for the first time - he'd been so blinded by her natural beauty that he'd missed them.
"Did you have a human?" he asked before he could stop himself. "I mean, in your tail... they're pretty. They remind of the beads my Boy wears. Well, he is not really my boy, but he gives me carrots." Suddenly realizing he'd blurted out his secret, he cursed himself inwardly - why did he keep telling everyone of his Boy? Maybe he just wanted someone to tell him it was okay that he had one... Then her own words sunk in and he ducked his head, pawing at the ground a little bashfully. "Thank you... It is an odd tail to have, I think, but I'm glad you think it nice." Did that mean... she found him... attractive? His head picked up, and he arched his neck proudly, determined to present the best picture he could. "You wanted berries though... they are near my pond. If you will follow me... I really wish you would tell me your name. Maybe I will give you one instead."

"I take care of myself just fine!" She retorted sharply, immediately turning her head away slightly in embarrassment. That had been an overreaction. "One should expect to take hold when an opportunity arises though." This was the best opportunity she'd had in a while. Someone who knew were fresh food and water could be found!
She was shocked into stillness though as Sudhir asked about her human and the pearls. She stiffened slightly, but it wasn't in anger. Another sadness crept from the recesses of her heart. The girl... she was probably dead after Aerithe fell... Gemini hadn't thought about the girl in quite some time. She barely noticed the male thanking her for the compliment, blinking damp eyes to prevent them from flooding over. Taking a deep breath, she gave her head a slight shake. She had cried for her girl long ago. That part of her life was of no consequence to her anymore. "I did have a human once. I haven't seen her in many years though." She flicked her tail, feeling the pearls bounce slightly. "You needn't seek a new name for me. Mine is perfectly usable." She pressed her lips together a moment, and sighed slowly. "My name is Gemini. Now, you did indeed speak of berries, so please lead on."
