The water tossed her to and fro, her head barely able to stay above water. It wasn't far now. She could make out the tree line in the distance. The storm wasn't letting up, but she wasn't giving up. She kicked and did her best to move towards shore. What little moonlight there was and the flashes of lightning were the only light she had to guide her.
After what seemed like hours of kicking and struggling against the water, her hooves finally felt sand beneath them. Using what little strength she had left, she tredged towards the sand, rain beating down on her. It was coming down in torrents. She welcomed the rain to wash away the salty brine that stuck to her body as she emerged from the foamy waves that crashed onto the beach.
She managed to pull her body out of the water and collapsed, drained of all energy and strength, onto the wet sand. She blinked her eyes against the rain, squinting into the darkness that enveloped her. She could make out a few rocks, some debri that the storm had blown onto the beach, and some trees dotting the otherwise empty stretch of sand.
She had made it, but she had no idea of the fate of her family. Where were they? Had they made it through the storm? That was her last thought she had before succumbing to unconsciousness.

The stallion stuck his head out of the cave. Even though he had the safety of his beach cave, the night still had been a rough one with the storm. Nella had run ahead of him as he went to see the damage that had been done to his beach front. Seaweed had scattered the once beautiful white sand. A soft sigh escaped the seahorse's lips after ever storm it was the same, and he dutied himself to clean up after it. He couldn't keep the sands so dirty looking, not when parents brought their foals here. Allus liked when that happened, when foals danced and played upon his beach.
With his mouth the seahorse picked up the seaweed munching on it slightly. Yes he ate it, however what he didn't eat always got thrown back to the sea. His eyes glanced around him wondering where his little yellow friend had disappeared too. A tug on his tail caused the stallion to turn around slightly jumping at it. "Don't do that!" he scolded his familiar chewed seaweed flying in her direction, though no matter what he told her she always seemed to do it when she wanted his attention.
Tugging once more the familiar motioned for him to follow her. Which he did, though what came into view not to long after surprised him. A pile of Purple Seaweed? Now that he hadn't seen before. When he got closer he realized it was a mare unconscious on the beach. The seahorse gently nudged her with his muzzle trying to wake her. "Um...Miss?"

She dreamed she was floating...no, she was flying alongside her father and sister. Being born without wings, she had always envied her winged relatives. As she soared next to them, they began fading away, as the clear skies of her dream turned to the stormy skies she had endured the night before. Frantic to keep sight of the others, she tried to speed up. Instead, she found herself falling towards the churning waters below. Just as she hit the ocean, she woke up, gasping for breath. Her legs jerked and she kicked out in swimming motions, scattering the sand and seaweed around her. Then she heard the voice; one she did not recognize. Startled at the stranger looming over her, she moved to stand. Her legs were still tired from the previous night's exertion and she fell back to the ground with an audible "umph." She resigned to just lie there with this strange male hovering over her. "Please don't hurt me." she begged, "I only wish to find my family."

"I do not wish to harm you," He reassured her. "I only wish to help." Never before had he seen another washed ashore from a storm, this was a first for him. Though he didn't do well with other adults helping this one regain her strength seemed to override how nervous he was talking to her.
"After we you have regained your strength, then we can worry about finding your family. Your health comes first" he spoke softly. Moving so that he was laying next to her. "Here, lean on me and I'll help you up. I'll take you to my cave and you can sleep peacefully there until your strength has returned."

The dream she'd had was so vivid in her mind. "Where are they?" she wondered, "Will I ever find them?"
She looked up at the stallion. "How am I to trust you? I don't know you..." she paused as he lowered himself down next to her. "Why would you help me? You don't know me either. I could be a very vicious killer, you know." She had always been awkward around strangers, especially now that she was alone with one.
She cringed away from the male at first, but hesitantly let him help her up. Why would someone offer to help if they wanted to harm her? "Thank you," she said as she stood, wobbly taking a step away from the tide. "I'm so tired, and weak from swimming so far last night. I was with my father. Have you seen him?" She quickly forgot about her health, and began to worry about her family again. "I don't have the time it would take to heal. I need to find him now, to make sure he's alright." She stubbornly stepped forward, a little too quickly, and her legs gave out, causing her to stumble again, but only to her knees. "Blast it all," she said, and pushed herself back up. "I may be resigned to having to wait after all."
She looked to the kind male who had offered his help. "I think you are right. I will have to accept your help until I have recovered. If we are to spend so much time together, I think it best we start out on the right hoof." She bowed her head in the way she had been taught to show respect. "I am Reyna, daughter of Sir Clifton and Kaze. Please accept my apologies for my earlier behavior." She raised her head to meet his eyes. "I find it hard to trust someone upon first meeting them."
