APPEARANCE Greta is about 5”4’ tall.
PERSONALITY Greta is a rather crafty girl, always trying to get ahead in life. She had never seen the harm in trying to exploit her poverty in an attempt to gain the sympathy of a noble, securing perhaps an old piece of clothing, or an extra coin or two. She has a passion for spinning tales, and spends her time off entertaining her younger twin brothers with stories, both made up and factual.
Even though she wants to get ahead in life, she still is very focused on her job of collecting the ashes, and makes sure not to leave a single piece of ash behind, less the nobles get angry at her.
She prefers to be self sufficient in her life, and has a very difficult time trusting people who aren’t either younger than she is, or in her family. She figures that like herself, everyone who is in her class just wants to get ahead, and everyone that is ahead of her in class doesn’t think she is worth the food that she eats. It’s a dog eats dog world out there, and she figures the only way to survive is to provide for yourself.
ABILITIES Greta has pretty good upper body strength from carrying buckets of ashes day after day, and sweeping the ash from the fireplaces. She finds that from doing this, she can lift objects that she wouldn’t have thought she could lift, such as heavy piles of wood for her own fireplaces, and so on. She isn’t literate, but has a good memory for stories and tales, which she continues to reinforce through telling them on her days off, mostly to her twin brothers, but sometimes also to their friends.
HOBBIES Storytelling: The most enjoyable form of free entertainment, at least in Greta’s mind. She enjoys daydreaming while she works, and if she can remember some of her daydreams, they can turn into tales to entertain her family and her neighbors. She remembers when her mother would tell her stories as well, and prides herself on being able to pass them down to her brothers, who have not had the benefit of having their mother around. Storytelling is also the very best way to pretend that she has a chance to move up in life, for…she knows there really isn’t much of a way to do so.
Mending: If Greta is ever lucky enough to come home with some old clothes from the nobles she works with, she will more than likely take them apart and use them to mend the tattered clothes that her and her brothers are forced to wear. It makes life a lot more bearable when you can use a piece of fur lined jacket to close up the holes in your elbows and knees!
