Post: 18 The Shade walked into the gym. He had decided: he would help with the battle if the gym allowed wild Pokemon to join in. Even if he didn't have any attack moves, he could still punch and kick could he not? He thrust his right fist in the air. "Let's kick some avian butt!" he said, looking for the gym leader. Post: 19 Being a total snack lover, the wild Pokemon took a snack for himself. The Shade munched on the snacky goodness for a few moments before swallowing it. Mmmmmm. One does not simply fill The Shade's belly. "Too bad you're not a Jolteon." The Shade mentioned to Jupiter. So far she seeme the most likable, save the human, of the group. The Gym Leader stood at the far end of the gym, quietly watching as the newbie trainer entered. "Welcome to the Blyse City Gym," he called out by way of greeting. "The real leader's not in right now, so I'm filling in for him. Are you prepared to start your gym challenge?"

The Gym Leader nodded approvingly. Seems like at least one of the trainers he'd battled so far had evolved their starter. "Guess I'll start with you," he said, tossing one of his Pokeballs into the arena. A second later, the small form of his Farfetch'd appeared in the ring, clutching its improvised sword tightly. "No reason to wait around, let's get this started. Open with an Aerial Ace!" Upon hearing the command the duck blurred forwards, slashing the Quilava along its flank with its onion sword.

The leader's lips twitched into a small smile. It looks like they had a speed battle on their hands. The Quick Attack took his Farfetch'd by surprise and knocked the small bird off its feet, but a second later the duck was back up and and facing its opponent. "Same move Farfetch'd, hit it with another Aerial Ace!" the leader called out. The duck squawked a quick reply and charged forwards again, striking the Quilava and leaping away again. The leader knew that the duck likely wasn't going to survive the battle, but if he could inflict enough damage to the Quilava now, his other two should be able to finish it off.

The small fireballs impacted the little duck, causing it squawk in fear and pain. Fortunately however, the attack hadn't knocked it out, at least not yet. The Leader knew that his duck had a limited amount of time left though, and he needed to make the best of it. "Keep the pressure on!" he called out to his Pokemon. "Another Aerial Ace!" It wasn't the most creative strategy, but it was the duck's strongest move. Once more the Farfetch'd blurred into motion, striking and retreating as before - though it was obvious to everyone in the battle that it had slowed down considerably, its wounds taking a toll.

The supersonic shout was too much for the already weakened duck and it fainted, bowled completely over from the sound blast. The gym leader himself winced at the noise, reaching into his pocket for a pair of earplugs. He'd never seen a Whismur used before in a trainer's first gym battle, but knew what they were like in combat. After a moment's deliberation, the man selected another Pokeballs from his belt. "Good one!" he called encouragingly. "But I hope you're ready for this! Go Woobat!" In a burst of light the little bat-like Pokemon appeared, twittering happily. "Let's get things started with a Heart Stamp!" The bat flexed its nose, sending a heart-shaped projectile towards the small Pokemon it opposed.

The Leader's hearing was somewhat protected thanks to his earplugs, but his Pokemon's ears were fully exposed to the waves of sound being generated from the Whismur, and more importantly were designed to be extra-sensitive. The Woobat was not pleased with the development at all and chittered loudly in pain from the ongoing Uproar. Likely it wouldn't last very long at all, not with a sound-based Pokemon on the field. Still, the leader was determined to get as much as he could out of his Pokemon before it fainted. "Hit it with another Heart Stamp!" he called out. The Woobat acknowledged the order through the intense sound waves - it was psychically linked to its trainer's mind - and flexed its nose again, creating another heart-shaped blast that accelerated for the Whismur.
