It was quiet, peaceful, relaxing. Standing on the roof, looking into the night sky, the dragon forgot whatever may have troubled him, whatever explosion of temper he had had earlier was past. Now it was simply quiet, the only sound the rustle of a light wind through the distant trees. He took a deep breath, his wings spread as he stepped toward the edge of the roof. A leap from the roof, the dragon several stories to the ground light as a feather to land silently on his feet. Another look toward the stars, a soft smile, on nights like tonight he felt as if he could reach out and touch them or fly beyond. His tail twitched as he walked, a thoughtfulness in his expression. He was really going to have to work on that issue with his tail wasn't he?

The ghoul had dumped her uncooperative lower half in her dorm room, allowing the hand-minipets to handle things while she went to get her own thoughts sorted. Legs was becoming more and more of an embarrassment and it was worrying Tess. Corporal punishment didn't seem to be much of a deterrent to the errant appendages and Tess was at a loss over what could be done. Rubbing her temples, the winged undead sought to clear her head as she exited the Undead Dorms to the walkway just in time to spot a figure landing in front of the Monster Dorms. She recognized the dragon boil, and felt herself cringe at the memory of Legs partially molesting the monster boil's tail.
Tess knew she had already apologized for it during their spar but she felt she owed him another one. "Sheridan?" she tentatively called out to him.

Hmm? The dragon turned, looking to see who had spoken his name. Ah, he recognized her immediately, it was Tess. There was an uncertainty in his eyes, a nervous twitch to his tail. Was she angry at him for what had happened before? He hoped not, he really hoped not. "Tess, hey." He gave her a shy smile, tail flicking as he stepped toward her. As he moved, he may or may not have glanced in several directions to see if the ghoul's lower half was nearby. "How are you?"

He didn't fly away upon spotting her, which was good. He was actually talking to her, which was better. The ghoul tucked a strand of her long, black hair behind an ear, "I'm fine," she answered simply, deciding not to mention that parts of her ached from merging and the violent severing between her and her lower limbs. "And you? I hope Legs didn't hurt your tail too badly," she carefully asked, hoping he wasn't too sore over the incident.

He shook his head, his tail maybe held a bit higher just in case a certain lower half was lurking nearby (he didn't want a repeat of before). "I'm okay." There may have a bit less shyness in his gaze, though there was still a twitch of uncertainty in his tail. It didn't seem she was angry, or at least if she was she wasn't showing it. Was she really okay? He had after all sort of...tried to freeze her legs. "I'm...sorry about earlier, I didn't mean to act that way. I guess I'm still a bit sensitive about my tail." That was putting it mildly, and really it wasn't an excuse was it. One day he'd get over that, maybe, he hoped, or at least he'd get better at it. He smiled at her, warmly this time, genuinely.

"Oh, oh no, don't be! Please! About time Legs realized her actions have consequences," she assured the dragon boil, raising her hands in what she hoped was a placating manner. "Is your tail-sensitivity, um, a physical or a psychological thing?" There were people who didn't like to be touched in specific parts of their bodies. Sometimes it was because it hurt them, raw nerves that never healed or bones that didn't set right the first time around. Sometimes it was because the touch triggered things, old memories, bad experiences, things best left forgotten.
Tess hoped Sheridan didn't take offense to her question. The last thing she wanted was to have had both her selves upset him.

He seemed to have relaxed, finally convinced that she really wasn't angry at him. His returned to its normal, quiet flicking back and forth, as if it had a life of its own that kept it in constant motion. "The latter I guess, just something that happened when I was little." He didn't volunteer a story beyond that. It wasn't that he minded the question, there was just no need to bore her with such a story was there? And it wasn't really that important, he supposed a lot of dragons (and other beings as well) were inclined toward grumpiness with issues involving their tail. "From now on, no ice, promise." A hand raised to thoughtfully scratch behind one ear. He liked Tess, it was almost hard to believe how different the personalities of her two halves seemed. Well, he supposed he couldn't object to the legs half too much, it was a part of the same being after all. Not that he was going to trust that half around his tail in the near future. "Do you...wanna do something?" Besides standing around in the middle of the school grounds that is. Surely there were more comfortable places to spend the evening talking with a new friend?

If it had been the former she could have offered to help him with the issue but seeing as it was the latter... Tess simply smiled at him, her eyes tapering, "I won't pry then." She could appreciate other people giving her a sense of privacy, not that she was above gossiping mind you just that in these face-to-face situations it was more proper to simply drop the subject.
"Well, it's still fairly early and I've gotten most of my homework out of the way. W-would, that is, if it's not too forward of me, perhaps I can treat you to dinner? A-as a way of apologizing on Legs' behalf because she most certainly won't."

A smile, he appreciated that she didn't pry into the matter further, though he was unlikely to have been angry if she had. Though whether or not he would have actually answered was up for debate. It wasn't a tale he rarely told, though the reason why he wasn't telling that either. But it wasn't important, not right now. "Dinner sounds great. Where would you like to go?" His wings unfurled, a flick of his tail. It was a beautiful night under a star-filled sky, a perfect night for flying, especially if that flight led to dinner at the end. He looked skyward for a moment before he turned back to Tess. "Should we fly there?" Did she like flying as much as he did? He also may or may not have been wondering what would happen if Legs met his cat. Hmm, that could have either been frightening or entertaining, maybe both.

Tess' wings beat silently as she began to rise to the sky, "Wonderful! There's this quaint little restaurant at the Maul called Carrionderya, it's fairly popular with the Undead and Monsters I heard." While she gave this suggestion, the tilt of her head and the small smile seemed to indicate she was open for suggestions. "And flying would be lovely, I'd walk but..." she glanced down to her missing lower half with a wry chuckle.

The smile broadened, the corner turning into a smirk as his wings stretched to their full span. "That sounds perfect." A moment later he was airborne, propelled skyward by a single beat of his wings. He climbed, tail lashing back and forth almost as if he were 'swimming' through the air. Now far above Tess, he turned, diving again and circling until he leveled off at her altitude his path carrying him toward town. "Walking is over-rated." There was a chuckle in his voice, he had meant it as a compliment and a reassurance. Whether or not it came out that way, well he hoped it did at least.

Tess frowned, slightly, briefly, then forced a smile, "Having an alternative is always best." She'd learned not to take having legs for granted since her supposed coming-of-age severance ceremony but then again, with the current state of said legs, Tess wasn't sure which was best. She pushed that question to the back of her mind, focusing instead on the cool breeze against her pale skin as they flew. "Do you do much flying in your spare time?" she asked, wondering if perhaps the dragon boil would be up for a little race. It was hard for her to find someone to fly with, most of her friends being land-bound and the few winged students she knew were just in passing.

"Perhaps." Oh, that hadn't come out right had it? He maybe have looked a bit disheartened for a moment, he hadn't meant to upset her in any way. But the smile quickly returned, a glimmer in his silver eyes. "Every chance I get." Given his choice he would have flown everywhere, touching the ground as rarely as possible. Well, not that he really disliked walking, but flying was so much more exhilarating. To feel the rush of the night air under his wings, the wind in his mane, to feel weightless and free, so close to the stars above, there was nothing else like it. He circled again as if to emphasize the point, pausing at the peek of his climb before diving again.

The undead ghoul gives the monster boil's aerial acrobatics an appreciative clap. Less out of being polite and more to segue into a dainty finger tapping her cheek in idle thought, "That's very agile of you but..." the small purse of her lips suggests she's thinking something over, "How's your speed?"
Were she any more familiar with the boil, she would have most likely simply dashed forward in the air as she made that statement. But because she was still operating under a sense of appropriateness, she tilted her head forward to look up at him with crimson eyes.

He paused, now hovering in front of her, though it seemed his tail moved far more than his wings did. "I'm fast enough I suppose." A grin, if there was one thing he was confident in it was his ability in flight. He may not have been the most skilled of fighters, nor could he have ever claimed to possess great physical strength (such was Petro's department), however he did make up for that lack in the agility and swiftness of his light, slender build. "Why do you ask?" There was a slight hint of suspicion in the look he was now giving her, though perhaps there was a sense of mischief in his eyes as well. Something told him she was up to something, something he might have wished he'd thought of first.
