Now that Riyo had an idea of what happened to her fellow students and friends that took the trip to the 4 clans, the feline had realized there was even less time to deal with her problems than originally thought. Or perhaps this was just what she needed. A chance to focus on someone else's problems instead of her own. A chance to realize she wasn't the only one who may be trying to climb up from the bottom of the barrel right now.

Which is why today, Riyo had some cheeseburgers.

Did Mitsu like cheeseburgers? Well. Mitsu was a dog. Certainly she'd like the burger part, at least. And since she was a dog, she probably didn't mind lower grade meat (or maybe that was just Riyo stereotyping). Either way, the ghoul had learned that talking over food was a good way to start healing. It brought about good feelings, if you had the stomach for it.

It hadn't taken her long to swivel to the monster dorms, trying to properly recall which door was which. She usually didn't have a problem with this. Though, she usually didn't go to someone's dorm for the sole purpose of consoling, either.

And... The demoness usually wore shoes. Today? It looked like she could live without them. All she wore was her pants, a tank top, and her jacket messily draped over it. That was all she really cared to wear right now. "Mitsu." Riyo called softly, a rapping at the door following. "I brought some food if you're interested."

There was a long moment of silence to follow, had Riyo perhaps gotten the wrong room? The door she had knocked on looked old and worn, the area around the knob looking like it had been glued into place and yet the knob and the hinges looked brand new. A little out of place considering how the rest of it fit together.

When it seemed to be a lost cause the door finally cracked open just barely, the one visible crimson eye looking up at Riyo in a weary and frightened way. "Riyo?" So it hadn't been a whisper or a strange voice. It had belonged to the feline. More than once Mitsu had heard a whisper and thought it belonged to someone she knew only to open the door and find no one there. This time..it was actually different.

Slowly Mitsu opened the door the rest of the way, the small lycan looking a little worse for wear. Her hair was tousled and her clothes were completely rumpled like she had just gotten out of bed. Dark circles rested just under her eyes and she for a lack of a better word looked spooked. The hesitant and almost fearful look in her eyes slowly turned to curiosity though as she stared at the gift of food Riyo so thoughtfully brought along.

"You have...." She sniffed the air lightly, her folded down ears finally perking up a little with interest. "A cheeseburger?"

She waved the feline inside, her ears folding down again when she heard a whisper of doubt follow her decision. Looking into the hall to make sure there was no one else Mitsu pulled back and close the door behind them.

Riyo appeared quite ready to turn on a heel and walk away when nothing but silence followed her quiet call, but the second she looked towards the exit, a familiar face peeked out behind the crevice of the strange old door.

"Just me." The ghoul spoke quietly, as it was obvious that Mitsu was skiddish already. The state of the canine's clothes didn't surprise her, but that didn't really make it any better to see her friend like that.

"I have... Two cheeseburgers, actually. One for you, one for me." Riyo lifted up the brown paper bag cautiously, shaking it a little as if to emphasize on the edible gold inside.

The ghoul was sure to hustle in, her bare feet shuffling across the ground and turning around only when she was a few feet away from the door. "I'd bought fast food and they accidentally gave me two so.. I figured you might like one." It was the same excuse she'd used with Xiu, only this time it wasn't true. Upon closer inspection of the receipt taped to the bag, one would see that the ghoul did indeed order a second burger. "And that we could have them together."

"You...you brought me a cheeseburger?" Mitsu's expression softened considerably from the wide eyed look she had been giving the feline. It was hard to overlook the kind gesture even if she had only gotten the burger by mistake. She had still thought of her to share it with and that meant something.

"P-Please, have a seat on the couch," Mitsu gestured toward the overstuffed piece of furniture. Unlike a lot of the things in her room that looked a little worn and probably a hand me down item the couch looked new and in good repair. The cushions were soft and plush and the cover was simple and well kept. "Would you like something to drink?"

Again Mitsu heard a whisper, a faint voice that sounded like it was right behind her. Turning suddenly she looked but there was in fact no one there. Just like before, it was all in her mind. Ears drooping she headed to her refrigerator, grabbing glasses off the counter beside it and opening the freezer door to get ice.

"Sure." Riyo scooted towards the large, plushy couch and let herself sink into its cushiony goodness. "A drink would be fine." Frankly Riyo didn't care what kind of drink it was, since she was sure Mitsu didn't have anything alcoholic. Oh, how she wished...

Sitting the bag next to her, Riyo looked over at the lupine and observed her quietly. She wondered how bad the ghoul was. Where her state of mind was. What she was going through right now. The fact that she'd looked the other way expecting to see someone gave the feline an inkling that Mitsu... Might not be all there.

"So... did you enjoy your classes?" Riyo had been struggling to find a good question to ask without stepping on the ghoul's proverbial toes.

Gathering ice in the glasses Mitsu grabbed a bottle of scareberry juice from her refrigerator and headed back to Riyo, sitting down on the couch beside her. She poured an equal amount of juice in each container before offering one of the glasses to the feline.

"M..my classes? They were..." She trailed off thinking about the teachers she had during her stay on Death and Conquest Isle. She had yet to see them around. Were they gone? Had they been destroyed with the Isles? They had both been rather nice, patient and willing to teach them. The classes had taught her a great deal about things she hadn't know before and she was sad to think that they were gone. "...fine. I suppose."

Holding her own glass between her hands Mitsu stared into the bright red liquid. "Y..you did...hear what happened. Right?" Riyo seemed so causal about it maybe she didn't know. She hadn't been on the trip after all. Or at least Mitsu hadn't seen her.

Riyo gently took the glass from Mitsu's hands, but didn't drink from it yet. Much like her friend, she stared into the liquid quietly.

"I've heard enough." She finally piped up after a few moments of silence. She knew the hunters came and the islands were completely destroyed. That was all she really needed to know about it right now.

Reaching into the bag inbetween them, Riyo pulled out one of the cheeseburgers and handed it to the ghoul. "And... I imagine you're probably pretty upset by it. I don't know everything that happened, but I figured it might be nice to not think about that. At least for a little while." What she was trying to do was offer a temporary reprieve amongst the nightmare of the truth. Some people could swallow it like a pill. Others needed smaller doses.

"I only asked anything about the islands because it was all I could think of. Never said I was very good at comforting people."

Mitsu nodded, at least Riyo wasn't completely in the dark about the situation. It saved Mitsu trying to explain. She had trouble enough just thinking about it let along trying to explain what had occurred.

Taking the cheeseburger with her free hand Mitsu set it in her lap, carefully unwrapping it with her fingers. When the paper was completely unfolded she stared down at the food Riyo had given her. "It's really hard to forget...or even push it aside." The whispers piped up again but this time Mitsu didn't look around. Instead she laid her ears flat as if trying to stifle the noise. "But I appreciate the gesture all the same."

She lifted the burger and gesturing to it as she spoke. "Thank you, it means a lot that you would stop by and bring me this." Mitsu smiled lightly then, though it was in pale comparison to smiles she had shown before. Without too much hesitation she took a bite, setting the burger back down while she chewed.

"It's good," Mitsu smiled a little more swallowing what she had in her mouth.

"I know it is." The ghoul sighed, slowly unwrapping her own food much like MItsu had just done. "I just figured you might want to talk to someone who isn't going to bug you about the whole fiasco."

Taking a long sip of her drink, Riyo tucked the glass inbetween her knees and took a bite of the burger. Eh. Not bad she supposed...

... For cheap food. "Don't thank me. It's really not that much." Though if Mitsu felt like Riyo had been feeling for the past few weeks, fresh food was probably a godsend in and of itself. "I guess... It's sort of good to know everyone else is going through tough spots. Not in the way that I'd wish mental stress upon everyone, but misery does love company." Riyo mumbled, staring at the bite she'd just taken out of her meal.

"Of course it is. You didn't have to bring me anything." Mitsu said lightly, staring at her burger as she contemplated another bite. Turning back toward Riyo she gave her words some thought. "So have things been bad here too? I really haven't heard too much about what's happened since we've been away."

Maybe that was the wrong thing to ask. Riyo didn't often like to talk about personal matters and it could very well be personal and not a school wide thing. Mitsu wished she would have thought about it before she said anything and the whispers seemed to be mocking her, feeding those insecurities she had done so well to suppress.

"I uh..."

Riyo stared at her cheeseburger thoughtfully, blonde brow creasing in thought. Had she come here expecting that Mitsu wouldn't want to ask what's been happening in her life? ... Yes. Was she going to shoo her away because she DID ask? Well...

There was a time and place for everything.

She had told Mot things... It was only fair that she let Mitsu know. It was the right thing to do, right?

The better question to ask was 'what did she have to lose?'

"I couldn't really say." Riyo mumbled hesitantly. "I've been staying in my room since the last trial."

Stuffing her mouth with another bite of burger, the ghoul allowed herself time to savor it before swallowing. "... How much did you hear? About the last trial, that is..."

"Xiu told me a few things," Mitsu said softly, poking at the burger lightly before pulling off a piece to stick in her mouth. "She didn't go into a lot of detail but it seemed that it involved the Hunters and everyone ....died." Mitsu shivered at the thought, her own thoughts going to what Shun had told her about the horseman and the future he had seen. If they didn't start fighting soon Mitsu didn't think anyone's prospects were any good. Whether it was the Hunters or the Horseman they were going down a very dark path.

"W...was it...really terrible?" Mitsu frowned the whispers growing louder. "They didn't make you suffer did they?" She seemed so worried about what Riyo had endured. Even the brief glimpse that Xiu had given her was enough to set her on edge, though anything at the moment could do that. A loud noise would probably have her climbing behind the couch for safety.

Riyo grew silent when Mitsu conveyed her vague understanding of the subject. She was practically in the dark, and for good reason. Nobody really wanted to talk about it.

Hell, Riyo still didn't want to talk about it, but at the same time, she realized if ever she would find a way to cope with the situation in a whole, it would be through talking and thinking about it. Things couldn't stay like this anymore. She couldn't stay damaged anymore. It was time to lick her wounds, no matter how bad a taste it would leave in her mouth.

The feline's eyes traveled down to the burger, carefully sitting it back down into it's wrapping as if trying to set it back where it was perfectly. "It was." She started. "It was the worst thing that's ever happened to me, and it didn't actually happen..." It felt a little silly conveying that fact. Maybe even a little surreal. Up till a few days ago, she couldn't really tell if it was real or not.

"You know... That Hunters make us weapons, right?" Riyo moved the burger from her lap and sat it on the arm of the couch, deciding to focus more on the juice. Just thinking about it made her sick. "It was set in a world where Halloween didn't exist anymore. All there was around us was desolate landscapes. The Hunters tricked us. Captured us, and put us into a small glass cage. I don't... Really remember much from when I was in the glass cage, but the next thing I know.. I was in a little cylinder."

It looked like Riyo was curling into herself for a moment. Her fuzzy black tail curled around her defensively while her ears fell back against her head. Her hands... Were shaking a little. "I could feel everything." The feline's voice became lower. Quieter. As if she didn't want anyone else to hear in an empty room. "It slowly ripped my body apart. Tore it into the finest of particles, and then shoved it back together in a new form. And in the end, when I was just some object at the bottom of the cage, I couldn't remember anything. Not You, not Xiu, not anyone. Even though it was cruel, it was the only merciful thing in the entire process." Because remembering would mean that, if she had been used to kill her friends... She would've realized it.

"The worst part though... The worst part..." The glass in her hands started shaking, threatening to spill the red liquid contained inside it. "Is that everybody had to watch, and I could see them. I realized everything I wanted out of life at that moment, and there wasn't a damn thing I could do about it."
PostPosted: Wed May 09, 2012 3:29 pm

"I...I do. I know they make us into weapons." Mitsu said sadly falling silent as Riyo described the scene in more detail than Mitsu had ever gotten. When she saw that the ghoul's hands were shaking Mitsu carefully reached out for one, slipping her hand into the feline's and giving it a bit of a squeeze before reaching for her glass with the other.

The process Riyo described sounded frightening and Mitsu wondered if that was how it truly felt. Pain and agony before there was absolutely nothing at all. No feelings, no sense of emotion...nothing. It saddened her but there was a truth to what Riyo said. She wouldn't know and likely the weapons in the hunter's possession didn't know either.

"I'm...so sorry Riyo. It's not something I would wish on anyone," Mitsu head turned again when she heard something behind her, the fur on her tail suddenly bristling out. It took her a second but she calmed and turned back to Riyo though her eyes focused on the glass she was holding for the ghoul.

"I..I guess the one thing you can take from it other than still being alive is that since you know what you want out of life....you have a chance to do it now."

There conversation was making Mitsu think. Should she let Riyo know what SEEDS. Well, she wasn't supposed to tell her straight out but she had another method that would hopefully work. Riyo was clever and Mitsu felt she would be a great addition if she was willing to help them.

"R..Riyo. I know this is out of the blue but...Do you read the Paranormal Post?"

Riyo didn't fight for the glass, or pull away from Mitsu's hand. She just let it happen. It was for the best, really. A couple more shakes and the lycan would've had a strange red stain on her nice furniture.

When she felt Mitsu's hand touching hers, the feline squeezed it back, enjoying the warmth of another for what little she could get.

"Yeah... You're right." Slowly but surely, the shaking stopped. This was indeed Riyo's chance at finally breaking away from all the things that had been holding her back. To build dreams and see them come to fruition... Or at the very least try.

The sudden subject change made the ghoul raise an eyebrow, shooting her canine friend a confused look. "N-no. I don't. I hadn't had the time for it." After a few seconds, she reluctantly added: "...Why?"
