Yep. I've had this idea for my first Powerplay RP, and playing the newest games I'm getting some inspiration for a medieval RP with pokemon. It would likely be set in 'Europe', before a lot of the things we take for granted existed. Some ideas.

Primary Backdrop: A rigid city-state clashes with the nomadic natives that travel the land.

Concepts:
One pokemon each, pokeballs have not been invented yet.
No TMs/HMs.
No held items.
No induced evolutions (ie Stones, trading, etc)
No potions, etc. That nasty herbal stuff is around.

I have the first bunch of info planned, but I figure I'd better check to see if anyone would be interested in this. Pardon the rough formatting, but I don't have much time, and this is a temporary thread.

Thoughts? Interest? Questions?

Strongly recommend that your pokemon have a base stat total of at least 500. Check here for suggestions.

Most trainers will have pokemon at level 50 for consistency and stat estimates. Use the average totals for your pokemon, as EV training isn't likely to be developed nor understood.

I like the basic idea, it's interesting. However I think going as far as using stats is maybe too much. In RPs, when numbercrunching gets involved, things get too complex and people tend to back out (personal experience)

So yeah, I would try to get yourself some interest for this and go ahead with it! But I'd leave deciding how powerful a pokemon is and stuff to peoples common sense, and if need be a little insight from yourself. razz

Thanks. The stats were only mentioned because I've seen people bring a pikachu to a fight against T-tar and wonder why the lost, lol. I'd probably post a basic guide for determining roughly how different stuff matches up, but it would ultimately be up to the two who are battling, so long as they play nice.

Sepia Plains
The westernmost settlement on the continent, the Sepia Plains provide most of the food supply for the Shining Empire. This would make it a prime target for the Nomads, but it is separated from the mainland by the Thunder Peaks, and imperial soldiers remain vigilant at checkpoints in the few manageable passes. The Sepia Plains were the result of an incentive designed to explore and settle the land west of the Thunder Peaks.

Umber Capital
The seat of the Shining Empire, the Umber Capital is a bustling metropolitan area lined by thick, strong walls. The Emperor and his daughter dwell within the palace at its heart. Nomad insurgents are known to often infiltrate the city, so the Emperor has been forced to remain hidden from the public eye as of late.

Sienna Wilds
The Sienna Wilds are a vast expanse of grasslands east of the Umber Capital. Believed to be the heart of the Nomad resistance, its sheer size cloaks the guerrilla forces. The small town of Sienna serves as a trading post between the Umber Capital and Canary City. The roads are relatively safe, but deviating from known highways is widely considered unwise. Technically this resides in the jurisdiction of the Shining Empire, though that is likely because no-one wants to be guilty of harboring the Empire's enemies.

Teal Outlands
South of the Umber Capital, through the tall but passable Cyclonia Range, the Teal Outlands are actually quite lush, a gentle hilly area with a hearty fishing village located near the tip of the archipelago. Residents of the Teal Outlands have an adventurous spirit, and the sound of song resonates from the town square every day.

Port Orchid
Across the strip of sea from the Teal Outlands lies Port Orchid. Port Orchid is a small town, though it is gradually growing as the population maximizes their use of the abundant natural resources of the area. They trade lumber to the Teal Outlands and fish to Canary City.

Canary City
Canary City lies between Port Orchid and the Sienna Plains and some distance to the east. It is the second largest city, behind only the Umber Capital. The citizens of Canary are proud of their independence, and the City watch is among the most skilled of knights, perhaps just in case the Shining Empire attempts forceful expansion. The nearby Withering Sea is believed to be both mystical and cursed. It is considered bad luck to fish the Sea, while tributes and prayers are believed to bring good will from the powers that be.

Gran Plateau
A lone island north of the Umber Capital, Gran Plateau does not get involved in the politics of the mainland. It is believed that an eccentric monastery makes its home their, the monks strive for the perfection of the bond between themselves and pokemon.
