My girlfriend just got a 3DS of her own and had previously purchased Colors 3D on my system.

I was trying to transfer that game to her new system but it sounds like what I'm trying to do is transfer my entire system's data then erase it from my system's memory.

So is there a way to transfer just one app or game from one 3DS system to another 3DS system?

Try this: Take her SD Card, insert it in your 3DS, download Colors 3D, Return her SD Card.

Lemme know if this works, I owe a friend Minish Cap and this is the only way I can give it to him (long story).

But it didn't end up working.

Sounded like it might, though.

Colors 3D doesn't show up on her system when I put her SD card back in.

No, I don't think you can do that. It's the entire system or nothing. If she bought it for your system, maybe buy you buy it for her system. That way, you each have a copy.

The game is probably bound to the system. Otherwise a person could just buy a game and give it to everyone else for free. You'll probably have to re-buy it on her system.
You should at least be able to put any art files she was working on on her SD card.
