Baharimtoto Pride

PostPosted: Mon Apr 30, 2012 1:48 pm

Neith was so happy, everything was starting to get back to how she wanted it. There were still many that she knew did not trust her and she wasn't about gain their trust but she was working on it.

Flicking her tail behind her to get rid of flies she walked towards the borders, after all she hadn't managed to get there for a while. The pride wasn't exactly small but it had been in a bad way but she had done her best! She had tried so hard to get the pride back together however this was turning into something she could at least be proud of but it wasn't complete, not yet.

She needed trust.

There were plans for the pride, plans to make it completely her own. However she needed the pride on side before she could start changing things. Anything would be better really but her plans would bring the pride to glory, it wouldn't bring her to glory!

She reached the border eventually and took in the scents. Someone was near by and the worst part was she knew that scent a little too well...

How long had he maintained his distance from these lands? He hadn't done so because he disliked it, he simply hadn't been drawn to it in the same fashion that others had... at least not until recently. Suffice to say that if the horrible tidings hadn't fallen onto his ears and the news of his daughter hadn't crept along with it, he probably would have kept his nose out of it. However, the name 'Neith' had resonated and without very much hesitation at all the lion had gathered his wits and padded towards the Bahari'mtoto pride lands. Unsurprisingly a small part of him was somewhat nervous at the prospect (a foreign concept for him normally), but then again, he knew he had more than just Neith there... there were other relatives too.

Nevertheless his travels didn't take him long at all and he was soon within range to the pride lands. Even at this distance he could sense a shift in the air, the scent wasn't pungent yet but there was a tanginess and tell-tale sign of the ocean nearby... It wouldn't have taken a genius to know where he was, or at least it wouldn't have taken anyone very long to figure it out for themselves. However, this wasn't the time for him to reminisce and sure enough, as though she had been summoned by the gods themselves, he caught a hint of his daughter.

...Even amongst the shifting air he could still recognise her.

"Neith," he stated, his voice raising as he rounded the weather beaten and sun baked hillock. When he was not hidden behind obstacles he was incredibly easy to spot, the pale coat really went without saying in that respect. "Fancy seeing you here, of all places," he continued, striding towards the familiar blue form with his eyebrow raise and lips pursed. As of yet he hadn't noticed that anything was amiss, but give it time and he was bound to find at least something...

Neith had her own life here, she had escaped the family that hadn't been that interested in the pride and made her way here, she now had her own pride. What could be better then that?

She then got a scent and knew what could be worse. Though she didn't move, not until she heard his voice. Her stomach seemed to do several flips and she turned, as slowly as she possibly could.

"Father..." She forced a smile onto her face.

"Well I came looking for your brother. Instead the pride was a mess, there had been a tsunami, he is missing. I'm sorry." She bowed her head a little as she spoke, she knew her manners and this was her father that she was speaking to.

"What brings you this way?" She tried to just look curious and not at all anxious, after all her father had the right to the pride much more then she did and she had been so close! That and there was her secret...

The news hadn't been surprising to him, at least, not the horror that had befallen the pride. The rumour mill had run rampant and while he had assumed most of it had been exaggerated the scale of the devastation was visible even from this far out. He could only begin to imagine what the beach had looked like following the tsunami, let alone the jungle and everything that had been in it. However, what he hadn't anticipated was the news of his brother - not strictly fullblood but damn close.

...He flinched, if only for an instance.

There were certain moments when weakness was not something he would display and in time, he would have the opportunity to grieve. For now, he had more important issues to address, namely involving his daughter and her rather unusual greeting. She wasn't being overly anxious but even he could see a forced smile whenever it was presented to him. Whether or not she was unhappy to see him or had been up to 'no good' as it were, remained to be seen, but for the time being he merely raised an eyebrow as he regarded her.

"You came looking for my brother," he repeated softly, making long sweeping strides towards his daughter and then circling her. He took a few moments to take in her form, noting that she hadn't been subjected to any form of brutality in her travels - well, not 'brutality' that he knew of. "For what purpose?"

"...And more importantly if he was missing, would it not have been fitting for you to inform me of this rather than allowing me to hear this from the rumour mill?" he continued, his eyes narrowing ever so slightly.

"You're not large enough or strong enough to move the earth beneath you Neith, what have you been up to?" he enquired at last, electing to voice his suspicions. Small as it might have been, something didn't add up and even if it was harmless he still wished to know...

Neith wasn't sure how to take her fathers reaction, the flinch was expected in a way but he didn't seem sad. Then again she never knew what to expect from her father, she had learnt to deal with whatever happens and to smile; maybe she had got that from him.

"I did. You told me about a pride that my uncle had. A pride by the sea, of course I came looking for it. Apparently he had children, who didn't have children. They have all gone, whether the Tsunami took their lives or not is unknown. Bodies have been found but many apparently are missing." She ignored the comment about letting him know about his brother. As if she was going to let a pride slip through her paws by telling her father!

"I may not be able to move the earth beneath me but I am strong enough to organise a pride to help rebuild it. The pride has a small council, mostly because there were few who were here when I arrived. They have lived here most their lives and have helped to resurrect a dead pride. There have been a few changes and saying that the pride is weary of strangers is an understatement." She made herself comfortable and started washing her paw. She wasn't sure whether or not this would be approved of or not and this was her pride!!
