Keldabe

General Information:Keldabe
Keldabe was the capital city of the planet Mandalore, located forty-five degrees north of the equator atop a flat granite hill, along a bend in the Kelita River that acted like a moat around the city. Often considered cramped and disorganized—even described by Mand'alor Boba Fett as resembling "a run-down factory complex that someone had dumped in a forest"—Keldabe was an urban fort-town. The city boasted several types of buildings, all built in close-quarters and crafted from an array of materials ranging from wood and stone, to durasteel and plastoid. There were even domains built in the trunks and branches of trees along the city's outskirts.
Among Keldabe's more notable features was the tower of the Mandalorian starship company, MandalMotors. The tower facility, standing at a height of approximately one-hundred meters and marked with the company's stylized mythosaur logo, was an easily recognizable landmark pilots often used for take-offs and landings at the nearby airstrip. Others included the Oyu'baat tapcaf, the oldest cantina on Mandalore and a popular gathering place for Mandalorians for both business and pleasure, Novoc Vevut's workshop, and by the year 40 ABY, MandalMotors Hall, a communal building donated by the MandalMotors company as a place for clan leaders to meet.

Other Information:
When a lode of the precious and incredibly resistant iron ore known as beskar was found on Mandalore in the aftermath of the Yuuzhan Vong War, MandalMotors' work with the rare metal became the catalyst that elevated the Mandalorian world into a state of economic resurgence, changing the look of MandalMotors and Keldabe drastically. No longer a "a run-down factory complex that someone had dumped in a forest" Keldabe became a more pleasing place to the eye. However, more of Keldabe became part of MandalMotors as landing strips were extended farther and farther into the city.

A "Market Day" is held twice a week in Keldabe, attracting a heavy presence of drinkers and shoppers who flocked to the numerous merchant stalls that sprung up around the city. The paved square in front of the Oyu'baat was frequently filled with aisles of food stalls, and Chortav Meshurkaane—a street that branched off from the square—is lined with stalls that sold precious metals and gems, along with leather products such as gloves and kamas.

Kad grabbed his smithing apron from the hangar. It was time to work, and Kad relished the skill his father had taught him. Kad was no ordinary smith however, this particular Cathar had been taught one of the best kept secrets in the galaxy: Mandalorian weapon and armor smithing. Walking out of his hut and a couple meters across the small hill he called home, he gazed longingly at the large forge that had been in his family’s possession for generations. He opened the door and welcomed the rush of hot air that came from the forge. He observed the hut, checking that everything was as it should be. The place was cluttered and messy with mismatched armor and half finished beskade hanging from the wall. He smiled. ’Perfect’, he thought to himself as he circled his workbench which was where he left his latest project, a beskad with an elongated hilt and cross guard. The blade was almost as long as a standard lightsaber and was double edge. At least, that’s how it will look when Kad was done with it. Right now the blade needed to be folded and the hilt still needed a leather rap.

Kad started his work heating then pounding with his hammer. He began to get into his work humming his favorite war song of old "Vode An" the more he worked his beskar blade the more he got into his song. Soon he was singing the song loudly in tune with his strikes:

"Kote!
Kandosii sa kar'ta, Vode an.
Mandalore a'den mhi, Vode an.
Bal kote, darasuum kote,
Jorso'ran kando a tome.
Sa kyr'am nau tracyn kad, Vode an.
Kandosii sa ka'rta, Vode an.
Mandalore a'den mhi, Vode an.
Bal...
Motir ca'tra nau tracinya.
Gra'tua cuun hett su dralshy'a.
Aruetyc runi solus cet o'r.
Motir ca'tra nau tracinya.
Gra'tua cuun hett su dralshy'a.
Aruetyc runi trattok'o.
Sa kyr'am nau tracyn kad, Vode an!"

He repeated the song over and over as he worked his blade. Eventually he felt that it was in good enough shape to inscribe his name into it. The young smith attached it to the handleand cooled it in water. With his work finally done he set it down and checked his handiwork. He smiled.

"Copaani mirshmure'cye, vod?"

It was early, very early in fact. So why did she hear metal clanging? Because of course she lived next to Kad. She just had to live outside the city, out in the open grassland...Or what was left of it. Sometimes she wondered if her sleep was worth the feeling of soft, wet morning grass between her toes when she woke up.

A familiar rhythm began to tug at her ear as she thought all of this as she laid in her bantha leather sleeping bag. Her Strill seemed to have heard it as well because she had her head covered under her little wings as if to block out the sound. Sitting up. Now in her sleeping bag, Ashara began to regret moving this far away from the city. The Cathar's voice was now so loud that it penetrated the walls of her home. His voice wasn't terrible, at least he knew the words, she knew people...oh she knew people...

"Ashara!" Her comlink began to speak from her night stand. One of the chiefs. Heaving out another sigh she slipped out of her sleeping bag, dressed in her pajamas. Quickly getting dressed she walked out from her home across the dirt path some dared to call a road and to the outside of Kad's forge. Leanning on the side of the door she knocked. And knocked. And knocked. "What the Hell is he doing in there?" she asked herself. He sang too damn loud.

When Kad had stopped singing his fifth verse, he noticed someone banging on the door. The young smith could guess who it was, and he braced himself for the pain that might well follow. He made his way through mess of a forge. ‘I really should clean this place’, Kad thought to himself, but he took a quick look around and shook his head ruefully. How could he change it? His father had taught how to tend the metal, and how all of the little changes you make to create the finest weapons and armor. He couldn’t change it now. Kad finally made it to his door, and opened it to see Ashara Zavros at his doorstep."Welcome, vode”, Kad said, with a slightly apologetic smile. The Cathar made his way back to his work bench and began to pick up the beskad but then thought better of it and set it down. Kad turned to the Mandalorian. "What can I do for you?", he asked her

"Copaani mirshmure'cye, vod?"

Ashara nodded in response to Kad's welcome and entered the modestly sized forge. Twirlling her head tails she looked around the room. All around her were bits and pieces of unfinished armor and weapons. One in particular caught her eye. It was a beskad, still steaming in a tub of water. The skill of the young smith never ceased to amaze her. Her most recent set of armor was in fact smithed in this very room and it had been worth every credit. But admiring beskade and armor was not why she had come to Kad. She knew what she was about to ask would be hard for the Cathar, but it had to be done. One of her informants had recently given her some troublesome information and to be honest, she didn't trust any of the chiefs, well most of the chiefs, to do what needed to be done without starting an intergalctic incident. That was the last thing Mandalore needed right now, though many of the older chiefs seemed to think that what they needed was another war. Ashara however, despised war. Too much was lost, and for what? A pile of rubble.

Twirlling her head tails nervously she looked at the Cathar and sighed.
"I need you to suit up again Ner Vod..." she said softly. She didn't know what he would say. She hoped that he would just do what she asked. "It seems the Sith are back...They have taken a number of planets, including Kashyyyk. We have two sets of boots in that god-forsaken place. I need you to go there and find them." She swallowed hard as she didn't want to think about what she was about to say. "Make sure their armor gets home." Her tone was dark, cold, and harsh. It betrayed how she really felt. She was honestly more worried for Kad than the other two but if the Sith really were back, she needed those two back home. "After you leave I will be calling a meeting with the other Chiefs. If that goes how I think it will, I'll be sending the call."

Kad was taken aback by Ashara's body language. She was usually more confidant, and less fidgety. Something was wrong, and she didn't like it at all. When she gave him his orders the Cathar's ears flattened against his head."Sith, huh?" he said, now all business. He didnt trust anybody that could toss him without using their arms, but the Sith always made him more wary than Jedi. He hoped that there were Mandos left to find. As for the meeting he hoped that that things went well for Ashara. It wasn't in his job description but he felt that it was his responsibility to make sure she wasn't too far over her head. Something big was about to go down. Kad didn't know what but he could guess. And if he was right then his business was about to get a lot more busy."Yeah, I'll get'em back"he told the young Mandalore. "When I get back should I make an additional order of ores?" Kad looked at her knowing she would get the message

She had prepared herself to be shot down by the large cat, brushing her off like the soot that adorned his shoulders. But quite the opposite had just happened. He had accepted her orders without a second thought. That was another thing she wasn't used to. When it came down to protection of Mandalore, others rallied behind her without a second thought. It was still strange, to have all of this power. Her suprise was not able to hide however, as the embers in the hot forge were glowing so bright that it illuminated the entire room, causing shadowy creatures to dance along the floors and the walls of Kad's room. She nodded at his last statement. "Hopefully we won't need them, but if we do I'll tell you." Of course in times of war the verpine along with other Mandalorians cut the prices of their goods by a good fifty percent, but the amount of Beskar she would be ordering and the amount of battle droids that were going to need to be pumped out still cost a load of credits. Especially the Beskar since those Jensaarai moved onto one of Mandalore's moons and began using the Beskar almost as much as the Mandalorians did. Some of the Chiefs still pestered her over dicision to allow those Jetiise to live among them. But they had an agreement, and not only that, but many of their members had become Mando's themselves. Times were changing around here. That was for sure.

"Alright, get on that. Keep in touch, you know where to find me." she said, spinning on her heel and walking towards the door, the tips of her head tails bouncing slightly. Before leaving she stopped to give one last one word of advise. "K'oyacyi!" she called to her friend as she left through the door.
{Exit to MandalMotors Hall}

Dezyi's huge frame entered the room, his gunmetal mandalorian armor didnt make a sound as the seasoned Predator looked through his helmets HUD, noting that the Mandolor was leaving the room. Swearing silently, the bibed continued on his way, following after her.

Kad chuckled at Ashara's last words. "Like I have a choice!", he called back to her. But in all seriousness, he knew that Kashyyk was a dangerous place and... What was that? Kad's predator instincts suddenly went off like a rocket. His mane bristled, and there was a tightness around his throat. Someone was here, someone dangerous. But as soon as the sensation came, it went. he suddenly realized who it was, and shook his head. That chief loved to play his games with the Mandalore. Pushing these thoughts aside, he grabbed his gear, and donned his custom armor. the young smith strode out to his Bes'uliik starfighter he climbed in and set his course to Kashyyk.
{Exit to Kashyyk}

"Copaani mirshmure'cye, vod?"

Another day. Or was it night now? She didn’t know, couldn’t tell from within her vheh’yaim. Despite their less than nomadic ways during this new generation, her people were surprisingly resourceful. By the end of the third week, more than half of the Mandalorians, non-combatants included, that were still loyal to her had been evacuated from the city of Keldabe and had built up a sort of home base comprised of mostly vheh’yaim, all of which were connected by a series of tunnels. The few Verpine that escaped, despite their small number and stature had also been a massive help. She doubted that they would have survivded this long without their help.

Currently, only soldiers and the few Supercommandos that were truly loyal to her were here in this small settlement. The rest were holed up in Kyrimorut, the stronghold that served as the Skirata Clan’s home. Thanks to the Jensaarai’s help they had successfully moved most of their noncombatants there. Once that orbital defense grid had been activated though, the Jensaarai were rendered useless, and the few that were flying shuttles were stranded. Many now helped in the fight to retake Keldabe and other parts of Mandalore.

Sighing she looked at her reflection in the broken mirror that hung on the wall of her dwelling and stared at her face. Though others might not be able to tell, she was aging. She hadn’t slept in days and she felt she was starting to lose her edge. But it was now more than ever that her people needed her and she would do anything to protect and serve them. Slapping her cheeks with her palms she shut her eyes and took a deep breath. It was time. Turning around, nearly bumping her head, she stepped down three dirt steps that lead to a tunnel. Now that she had finally woken up she could hear the sirens and explosions from artillery strikes nearby. Clenching her first she turned toward her armor. It was time to gear up.

Her armor was the farthest thing from being light, but to her, it was something very comfortable at the moment. It made her feel safe. After slipping on the iron skin she headed out through the tunnel, making twists and turns until finally reaching the main hub vheh’yaim. This one was larger than the others and made to hold dozens of people. It led to the outside, and was the only one that led to the outside. Taking one more deep breath she slipped on her helmet which she had been playing with for a while, the HUD lighting up the inside of her helmet giving her bio readings and the like. Starting up always took a while. Stepping out of the dwelling she looked up. It was night, the moons were both dim in the twilight as morning slowly took the lead. There was a haze of dust and smog over Keldabe. She never thought she would see her capitol in this state. It was time to take it back.

A small knock on the door, the Mandalore knew that it would be only one of three possible people that could be outside. Then with the standard, predatory clicking he did when he wanted to speak, the list drops to one: Dezyi. When she would open the door, he would be clad in his Gunmetal beska'gam, with a helmet that was a mix of his peoples and a standard mandalorian helmet. He would be carrying his standard weaponry, Beskad blade, DC-15A, and two Westar-34 blaster pistols.

"I am ready Mandalore. I came to check and see if you were alright...."
