Rin returned again to the Canteen after having made a trip back to the sleeping quarters to grab her lucky shirt and throw it on over her sweats from the infirmary.
She looked somewhat pleased to see that boorish oaf from earlier was nowhere to be found and made her way around the room to cringe at all the horrible food options on offer. With a miserable sigh she took a bag that was labeled as chicken...something. Better than nothing she supposed as she plopped it on her tray and skipped all else in search of a drink or two to wash the muck down.

There was nowhere to sit and read that wasn't noisy. Jordan had picked the canteen after some deliberation; he didn't really think he could stay awake if he tried to read in the meditation room, the barracks had their own hazards, and most of the little cubbies and crevices around the underground shelter were occupied by people with actual work to do. He'd leaned his chair back against the wall, ignored the cup of tea he'd acquired, and settled in to be somewhere else entirely.

Rin snatched a little juice box or two before turning away in search of a place to sit and shovel the disgusting sludge down her gullet. Hmm... she suddenly noticed a spot wayyy over in the corner that seemed oddly occupied.
Oh. It was Jordan.
She looked back down at her tray with a cringe and sat it aside, keeping only the juice boxes clutched possessively to her chest with her arm as she grabbed a chair and draaagged it over to rest in front of him and sat down herself.
She was staring now. Staring and waiting.

Someone had sat down and was staring at him. Jordan debated briefly with himself as to whether he should notice. He could easily be so absorbed in his book that he failed to notice surrounding events. Of course, that wouldn't be particularly characteristic, and trading mild rudeness for mild rudeness wouldn't exactly start whatever conversation they were about to have on a good note. He suppressed a sigh and looked up, lowering his book. "Hi. Uh - Rin, right?"

"Yes, Jordan? We fought a Yeti on my very first mission?" She smiled at him. A... slightly over-sweet smile that had an overbearing edge of falsehood as she leaned in a little.

"Right, I remember now." Jordan folded over the corner of the page as a bookmark and set the book down on the table, picking up the styrofoam cup of tea instead. Her general attitude was setting him on edge somewhat, but he'd find out what she wanted first. "Something up?"

"Yes, actually. I hear you have a new friend? A new.... really really really really good friend." She was clearly having a bit of issue getting... started with this.

Jordan's eyebrows arched. "And who did you hear that from?"

"Rep. And before you get all worked up. He's like my bro." She nodded sternly, setting the juice boxes in her lap and taking one and popping the little straw in. She held it up in a subtle little gesture of 'cheers' before taking a small sip.

Jordan gave Rin a searching look. Serious, stubborn, anxious, possibly covering for something. "Mm," he said thoughtfully. "He tell you anything else?"

Rin seemed to settle back down looking less anxious. At least he wasn't denying anything outright then curbing her. She took another sip of her juice, thankfully the drinks in this place didn't look and taste like cow crap too.
Swallowing and setting her drink down in her lap she tried to answer just as vaguely as the question seemed to be, "Yes, quite a bit else actually."
He was going to need to be a bit more specific, she decided.

Jordan sampled his tea. Tasted better than the coffee here, he decided, but it just wasn't the same. He smiled neutrally at Rin. "Before I can confirm or deny anything," he pointed out reasonably, "I really need to know what I'm confirming or denying."

Rin looked about conspiratorially to ensure no one was eaves dropping before she leaned in a bit, "That you three are a... thing... with intents to do.. things, fun things. Well, fun things for you guys. I don't quite fancy having anything up my a** personally."
She flushed a bit when she realized she let slip something she was meant to only be thinking.

Jordan sputtered, turned red, set the cup down, stared at Rin for a few moments, then leaned on the table and started laughing. Once he got his amusement under control again, he said, "Well, I sort of doubt that that last bit was verbatim."

"Yeah.. uh.. pretend I didn't say that part out loud okay?" She was still rather cherry red as she tried valiantly to avoid eye contact for making an utter a** of herself - again.
"Uh. So. You guys are...?" She tried feebly to turn the topic back around.
