Quote: - If your Insanity infected (from the Phoenix status effect from the meta) character goes to sleep, or perhaps even has a lapse in consciousness, they will begin to dream. However, this is not a normal dream, the lingering taint of Insanity has affected their subconscious, and even faintly, those around them. That means, even if your student did not attend the meta, as long as those infected by Insanity linger around them, they too will dream strange dreams, dreams which they cannot wake up from normally, dreams that they have no control over. Dreams which their mind has convinced them first and foremost that whatever they are experiencing is real and extremely terrifying - 800 words, you will gain +3 bonus rp points Quote: [ The Unknown: ] You are in a strange room full of curious items, trinkets that sparkle and gleam to the touch, familiar items, perhaps ones belonging to you or those close to you. Suddenly, you notice a room below you, simple and dark. All your instincts are telling you to run away from it. You try to run, walk away, but your feet continue heading down the dark hallway as you can only helplessly watch yourself move forward; descending downwards. Your fears get the better of you as voices, images and flashbacks of people you know, begin to taunt and accuse you. Your friends, those you watched dissipate and die begin to form around you, cloudy shapes corrupted and melding together whispering to you accusingly. Why didn't you save them? Why didn't you help? It gets darker, you cannot see anything now, not even yourself, even as you feel something grab you and pull at your feet, dragging you forward. There is nothing you can do as you are pulled slowly, struggling the entire time; to your demise as the vague figures of your friends simply watch. You wake up just before you realize exactly what the thing was at the end of the tunnel... perhaps they are still waiting for you.

Finally.
Finally Mei had made it back to her dorm room.
She was tired. Exhausted physically and mentally. The ghoul leaned against the door for a moment, closing her eyes before snapping her eyes open once more and pushing the door open just enough to squeeze through and enter her room.
Goop and Minsks greeted her. She in turn pet each of her pets before stumbling to her bed and falling forward. "Ooof." Mei didn't even pull the covers back. She just lay there on top of the comforter, her head sinking deep into the pillow as every muscle and bone in her body screamed as she tried to relax.
Sleepy. So...sleepy.
Maybe she was just too tired to sleep. Didn't that happen sometimes? Her mind was still racing over all the things that had happened the past few weeks. Her experiences, her failings.....her doubts. It seemed like she would never get her mind to be quiet about it, no matter how tired she was....
Must sleep.
-----
All of a sudden Mei snapped awake. But she was no longer in her room. She was in a new room that she had never been in before. Blinking slowly, she gazed about the room. Familiar items filled the room. Those of people she knew. Her friends, her family. Everything seemed to sparkle and shine, begging her to touch them.
But as she took a step to get closer to the items Mei looked down, noticing that the floor beneath her feet was missing. It seemed to be some sort of long, dark pit below. She jumped in fear and her heart would be racing if it could.
It seemed...solid enough? She was walking on it wasn't she?
But the fear overwhelmed her sense of rational. Everything about this dark hole told her to run away. And so she tried. But all efforts to run away from the darkness seemed futile as Mei felt herself being dragged down into the darkness. It overwhelmed her as she tried to claw her way back up but still she was pulled.
Down.
Down.
Down.
Mei struggled but couldn't get free of this downward drag. As if the air around her was a thick, gooey sludge and she was being dragged down to be suffocated and crushed by its tremendous mass. Like the quick sand in the bogs almost. But there was nothing but darkness around her. She thrashed her arms out but hit nothing but air. Or had the darkness moved when she struck out at it? Was that a ripple of air?
Out of the walls of darkness the faces of her friends and family appeared. Clawing at her, screaming at her accusations. Why didn't she help them? Why didn't she save them? Why, why, why?
She couldn't take it anymore. The screaming and accusations. She was weak. She couldn't help her friends when they had needed her most.
Mei clutched her head with her hands. Digging her nails into scalp. "WHERE WERE YOU WHEN I NEEDED YOU!!!" She screamed back at them. Tears began to stream down her face.
Something dark grasped her ankles and she screamed as she felt herself being dragged faster and faster towards something. Something dark. Something she could not see but she knew was there. Waiting for her at the bottom of the darkness.
"Help me...." Mei cried out weakly to the figures who merely watched with dark, cold eyes. Her own dark brown eyes widened as she stared into the darkness before her. Ever sense of self preservation flooded through her being as she tried to struggle one last time.
Mei gasped as she was pulled in....
-----
"WAKE UP!"
The ghoul sat straight up in bed, gasping. Her chest rising and falling as she clutched at the sheets of her bed. She felt sick, like she could wretch. But she was afraid that if she did perhaps the darkness would be all that she could vomit up and it would come and try to take her again.
She shook violently, looking about her room. Goop and Minsks were curled up on her bed but her nightmare hadn't seemed to woken them up. The ghoul's eyes tried to adjust to the darkness of her room but she was having a hard time. Was it here in her room? Slowly creeping it's way into her space?
Mei crawled under her blankets now. She needed to sleep some more. She was so tired but also so afraid that whatever it was in her nightmare was still there. Watching. Waiting for her to slip off into an unconscious state before it would strike again.
Laying there quietly, she stared at her window. Too afraid to close her eyes again.
