With all that was lost within the Iwagakure, the Waterfall Cliffs, an astounding landmark of the village, remains intact and untouched. These ancient waterfalls which flow continuously in the backdrop of the village are both remarkable and beautiful, and if nothing else, in the wake of the destruction of the village, they remind people that all was not lost. Often used as training grounds for more advanced Shinobi, the cliffs offer both extreme training and key lookout positions over the entire village and as one of the last remaining outposts of the village, will undoubtedly be a spot from which the village is rebuilt.
Flowing down the massive mountain cliffs behind the village, the waters continue downward into deep underground pools and actually filter into underwater passageways deep below the surface of the village for miles in many directions. Some currents feed into large geothermal pockets creating the Iwagakure's Hot Springs, and others flow into puddles and small waterways which provide fresh water to the many Underground Caverns beneath the village, making living in the caverns sustainable for long periods of time. This makes the Waterfall Cliffs a direct lifeline to the fortified Underground caverns beneath the village, which remain untouched... and have been doing so reliably for generations.
