BAREFOOT BLUE JEAN NIGHT !


The full moon was shining bright, as they danced at the edge of the lake. Well Ben was sitting by the fire. There was a radio close to him, which he had given up complaining about long ago. It was a dance if you could call it that. Everyone was in some sort of swim wear that ranged from a pair of board shorts worn by Nate, that seemed to hang almost a little too low on the boys hips showing of his trade mark coat of arms brand, to the full shirt and shorts combo that Ben had been talked into.

A song crossed Nate’s ears that for once wasn’t the rhythm of someone’s heart. He threw back his head and howled. His howl was followed by the sound of others. His feet tripped into another dance, this time he seemed to show off as he rolled his shoulder and water seemed to whip out of the lake, sparkling with the very essence of the moon. “Wahooo never gonna grow up. Whaooo never gonna slow down. We were shining like lighters in the dark in the middle of a rock show. Wahooo we were doing it right. Whaoo we were coming alive. Wahooo Yeah caught up in a southern summer barefoot blue jean night. “

He spun around and landed in Ben’s lap. The pudgy boy blushed and looked away. Nate however had other plans and kissed the boy’s cheek. The other blushed and Nate seemed to notice the quickening of his heart. Nate smiled and hopped off him and continued his odd little dance. Finally finishing with his left hand in the air facing the sky over the lake and the water seemed to burst looking like a firework.

He smiled hearing the crack and jumped up scooting his left heel along the ground. Water from the lake followed him and rose and bent to his will as he jumped in the air and kicked out at the open air making the “firework” display happen again. He seemed happy with his work and repeated the process several times happily.

Finally tired he flopped over next to Adriane who seemed happy that Nate just seemed to be accepting her for once. Her bright blue bikini was easy on the eyes, though for the hormonal anything other than regular clothes was a plus. She huffed in a small sigh looking at the bright sky. “It’s beautiful Nate, it really is. “ He smiled I bet it is he said picturing what it would have looked like.

“Having fun?” he asked. She nodded seeming to forget that he was blind for a moment. “Yeah, a lot more than my sister I bet. “ he laughed leaning back in the sand, then seemed to remember something and left for a moment.

Soon after came back tugging Ben along with him. “Sit, look, have fun, no moping.“ he smiled and leaned back again closing his eyes to a great night.
