The punk boil had been on and off campus a lot since they got back to Amity. It wasn't that surprising, unless you took in the fact that everyone was inflicted with insanity at the moment. He should have been locked up in his room, hiding from the world. As it was, he'd been locked up at his dad's place, forcing the older reaper to stand guard all night--and threatening him on top of it. He was still certain that he would wake up and Austin would be gone, but--
He was screwed either way, as far as he was concerned.
But today he was heading on campus with his arms full of strange tools. He had a large spool of wire hanging around his wrist like a bracelet, a toolbox hanging from his fingers, and several bags of what looked like... powder of some sort in his arms. A bucket clanged against his thigh, held by his belt, and a spare hammer stuck out of his pocket. He was straining a bit to see over the bags, and kept looking around, as if someone was going to grab him at any moment.
Just another typical Roch moment... possibly?

The voices were finally gone.
It had been a long four days, but at the very least, Xiu had had some friends to keep her company so she hadn't been deal with the whispers alone. She hadn't even noticed that they were gone until she tried to take a nap and realized that everything was silent. The eerie voices that had been lurking in her mind disappeared completely, and the nervous feeling that she had been feeling faded with it.
Unfortunately, she had learned that she was not the only one who had been inflicted with this particular experience--apparently everyone who went on the trip had been hearing voices for a while. Needless to say, Xiu was a little more anxious about her friends' well being than usual right now. Therefore, when she peered out of the window that day to see Roch doing...something...
It didn't take her long until she was down the stairs, out the demon dorms, and heading towards the reaper. "Roch! Er...need a hand?"

He jerked, nearly dropping the bags in his arms, then looked at her, leaning closer and staring at her for a long, long moment. There was definitely something going on in his mind, but abruptly he pulled back, juggling his bags a bit to adjust the weight.
"Um... nah, I can do this on my own. You probably don't even know how to use a drill," he added, starting forward again. Then he stopped, another strange look on his face, which turned into guilt. "And uh... sorry," he added.

Xiu's brows shot up. A...a drill? Why in Halloween would he need a drill?
Perhaps it would be best if she didn't ask.
Still, just because she didn't voice her question aloud didn't mean that she wasn't curious. The baku's wide eyes and tilted head betrayed her confusion at the sudden apology. "Ah...sorry? For...for what?" There was a pause, and then she lifted her hands up in front of her, her expression suddenly becoming sheepish. "Oh! I mean, shouldn't I be the one apologizing? I guess I should just...leave you be instead of being nosy about...that."
She jerked her head towards the bags in his arms, brows knit together as she stared at them. That sure was a lot of stuff.

"Because I hit you," he said quietly. "There--there is one thing you could do for me," he admitted after a second. "Mind watching my back while I do this? They could be anywhere."
Who 'they' were could be any number of people when it came to Roch, but he seemed to take for granted that she knew who he was talking about, because he started on his way, heading for the reaper dorms.

"You...you hit--...ah." The puzzled expression changed into one of understanding. She held up her hand and shook her head, a small smile on her lips, "No, don't apologize, Roch. No...no one was themselves. I even punched aniki, you know?" And did she ever feel terribly guilty about it. She had apologized to him in the end, and he had accepted her apology, but she still couldn't shake off the guilt.
The request, however, was not something that Xiu had been expecting. Her eyes widened in surprise for a moment, and then she frowned, staring at his armful of stuff. Sure enough, she asked the two most obvious questions: "...Who are they? ...And what exactly are you trying to do?"
She definitely had nothing against helping a friend, so long as this friend wasn't doing anything suspicious. As it was right now, it wasn't very clear what Roch planned on doing.

"Just a bit of security," Roch said. "I can't spend every night over at my old man's," he added, heading into his room after unlocking the door, and looking at the single window. It was up high--since he was on the basement floor. He put his bags on the desk and grabbed the chair, hauling it over to the window.
"Hold this, would you?" he asked, offering the toolbox. "And open it, I'm gonna need some screws and the drill. This will also come in handy if Riyo tries to pay me back for somethin' again," he added with a slight grin.

"Security from what?" She couldn't help asking, though she obediently stretched out her hands to take the offered toolbox. She flipped it open and had begun to take out the screws and drills, only to freeze up at Roch's words. Slowly, she lifted her head to stare at the reaper.
"What...what did you do to Riyo?" The baku's ears drooped slightly, her eyes round. That being said, even if Roch had bothered the bakeneko somehow, Xiu sincerely doubted that there was any reason to go to this length. Maybe he had been bothered by their last trip too? It seemed like none of the students had gotten out mentally unscathed.
She stared down at the drill in her hand with a wary frown, and then tentatively held it up to Roch.

"I took her and Edel to the trashology class," Roch said, snickering slightly. "And she was the last one stuck in the bot so we had to throw trash bags at her--she didn't much appreciate that. That's why she snuck in through the window and left me some... presents as revenge. I was finding the jackin' things for WEEKS and wound up hurling every time." He looked at her, raising an eyebrow. "What did you think I did to her?"
He climbed onto the chair, taking the drill and drilling four holes on either side of the windowframe.

If Xiu's hands hadn't been full, she would have been burying her face in her hands by this point. Her friends just couldn't get along, could they? Though they were all very different people, that much was for certain. She couldn't prevent the grimace from spreading across her face at the mention of presents, especially when the reaper went on to say that they made him hurl. Did she dare...?
She did. "What do you mean...presents?" There was a pause, and then she shook her head as an answer to his question. Truth be told, she hadn't had any idea of what he could have done--that was why she had asked.
The baku remained silent as she watched him work, though the frown on her face was a clear indication that she didn't think that this was necessary.

"Just a certain... smell," he said, grinning slightly as he thought about Riyo. "Me and Riyo... well, we got a jackload in common. I need to check up on her soon--maybe when I'm not goin' nutters," he said, screwing nails into the holes and then pulling the wire off of his bracelet spool. He started stringing bells that he pulled out of his pocket on the wire as he looped it around the nail heads and laced it over the window.
"Riyo ain't like you," he added as he dropped down from the chair. "She plays dirty. But hell, I tried to get back at her--got her some catnip," he went on, heading for the door of the karaoke booth. For a moment he stared at it before getting on his knees to drill a few holes at the bottom of the doorframe. "I'd suggest not doing that," he added a bit belatedly.

...Or maybe they did get along? Goodness, relationships sure were complicated. Xiu simply shook her head, a wry smile quirking on her lips. "Just don't go overboard when you visit, okay? ...And what do you mean nutters?" Could it be...the voices? The ones that had been plaguing her had already faded now, but she now knew that she was not the only one who had heard them. It seemed that Shun and Mitsu had been hearing them as well, and so she wouldn't have been surprised if Roch was having the same problem.
The baku's brows shot up at the mention of catnip. She had to admit, she was a teeny bit curious about what kind of effect the plant had on her friend. She remained silent as she followed after him and crouched down, but after a moment passed, she couldn't help but shoot him an inquisitive look. "What happens?"

"She gets... very touchy, feely," he said after a second of trying to figure out how to put it. "She finally wound up cuddled next to me pettin' my head," he added with a hint of wry amusement. "Just like my old man does--" Then he stopped, looking at her with narrowed eyes.
"Prove you ain't a hunter in disguise," he told her abruptly. Course, what he was telling would be absolutely useless for a hunter. Other than the scent, and he hadn't even told what one it was--but why would she BE HERE? He still questioned his new relationship with Xiu, he probably always would--but especially now that he was paranoid.
He finished wiring the doorframe of the karaoke machine and stood, looking at her seriously.

Xiu wasn't really sure what to say now that she knew the effects of catnip on Riyo. Or at least, she wasn't sure what to say aside from murmuring a quiet "I'll be sure to keep catnip away from Riyo then". As much as she liked hugs, she was also fond of the bakeneko the way she was, so to imagine her being over affectionate...
The baku stared up in surprise at Roch's sudden demand. It had come out of seemingly nowhere, catching her off guard. "W-what? Prove that I'm not a..." She wracked her brain for proof. She could transform into her natural form--Hunters couldn't transform in those false bodies of theirs, she had heard--but Roch knew that form as Aria. She supposed that he would have to find out eventually, but...m-maybe not like this.
"I, ah. I first met you a year ago at prom?" She offered, playing with her braid as she spoke, "And the first time I dragged you out, we got attacked by a bunch of plants."

He looked at her for a long moment, hearing hints of whispers in the back of his mind, and absently he put words to them, then shoved those words aside. "Okay," he said finally. Then he headed for the powder.
"A bit of this mixed with a few household items and we'll have a nice little bomb for greeting people with," he said with grim cheer as he picked up the largest of the bags. "I think... hmmm..." he said, looking around the room.
