It would have been easier if all Saya was needed was the clothes on her back and Prompto. Unfortunately, as a girl, she had a little bit more than that. The few items, from her past life, were still there and losing it to some monsters simply was not an option.
Pressing a kiss to Prompto, she apologized for her foolish sentimentality.
He had to deal with Saya, exactly as she was.
Do you really need it?
She nodded.
He sighed.insanity creature 34-65: A large, semi-solid creature barrels into you! It's slow-moving but a bit more powerful than the smaller ones. Mob Stats HP: 10 Auto Damage: 3 (hit or miss)

Saya had a habit of running into the big ones. Luckily, this time, she was prepared to fight for her treasure chest.
She shot a arrow squarely into it's mouth. But it reeled into her, having a much bigger attack range.

Saya leaned against the door, her breathing heavy, as she prepared to shoot down the monster running towards her again. It behaved similar to a bull, except, it wasn't a bull. Saya couldn't even begin to guess as to what it was.
She swung her sword, forcing her eyes not to shut as she stared into it's mouth.
Atta girl.

Quote: 2-10: You find the body of a fallen hunter, their weapon tablet lies on the ground but crumbles as you reach for it. The pieces quickly shift and expand into a large, insane creature. It's form is not very solid, and more cloud-like than anything. Boss Stats HP: 50 Auto Damage: 5 (hit or miss) Extra: because of it's form, use a -8 modifier for accuracy! This does not count with charged attacks! One creature down. That gave her a brief period of time to cross the hallway and down to her room! Her legs moved quickly and her arms moved quicker, each second dragged down with the possible warning of another dangerous creature around the corner. She hooked Prompto to her waist as she moved, gathering up the little that remained of her room.
Being a newly awakened trainee, there wasn't much. There was the leather book, in memory of Sandy .. a picture frame .. a necklace.. As Saya hit the last remaining item in her coat, she heard a sound outside. She was sure that there were other trainees who made it up to the dorms, right? Even if she hadn't seen them, they were somewhere around. Probably. Best to make her way out, Saya reflected wistfully. It was really too bad the dorm infestation had been one of the worst, of all the infected areas. Slipping across the hallway, Saya briefly ducked into another open room for cover.
She could only hear the sounds of her own breathing now, the empty dorm rooms now looking much more intimidating then they did before. Empty .. A lump of white, that was distinctly not rubble caught her eye. She had the dread-filled sensation in her, screaming at her not to approach. It tugged at her senses, like a child tugging with all their strength with little success. Curiosity won .. That had killed the cat, didn't it?
Her hand covered her mouth, an unwanted sensation forcing her to cough up the empty contents of her stomach. She had already identified the body before she knew it, frequently recognizing him as a male hunter who could often be found in the basketball courts. Saya had never really talked to him but she recognized him in passing, although whether he recognized a mere trainee was something she would never know now.
Her hands fumbled at this point, to at least close his eyes-- He died here, without a warning, because the trainees could stop the phoenix. They couldn't stop the--
Her hand accidentally brushed over his tablet.

At first, she didn't realize it. A large wispy creature, forming behind her, from her blind spot as the tablet crumbled under her fingers. Tablets weren't supposed to crumble, were they? As Saya's head turned to look back, giving only the briefest of moments to think, all of a sudden, she felt a sharp impact against her body.
Out of nowhere, without the slightest warning, Saya found herself against the dead body.
The voices clamored, whispered, as if the remnants of insanity clinging to him suddenly found a new source, a much better source-- a source that was alive. They clung to her, the whispers she had been managing to ignore, now, louder than ever. Saya HP: 20/40 Damage: 0 Charge: 1/3 - Healing Charge Current critter HP: 50/50 Total critters killed: 1

Normally, when it came down to a battle, it was easier to look at it in terms of black and whites. But the insanity was coloring the world in greys, she could hear voices, like the phoenix battle. They wanted help, she wanted to help them but every fiber of her body screaned enemy--Sandy, Barney, the desert monsters, the bugs-- Julie----" The rest was indecipherable. Insanity made up the rest of the voices, where Saya couldnt-- she wouldn't, she refused to understand.
She swung out wildly, in a wide-eyed frenzy. Somewhere, the insanity whispered, implied-- perhaps she had so little items to bring back from her dorm because she had so little relationships-- acquaintances at best. There wasn't any friends. The monster, temporarily knocked back by Saya's frenzied swing .. Saya forced herself to remember. Marcus told her that moon hunters took care of defense. Even if they attempted and succeeded at attacking, their primary move was defense, tempted to do otherwise or not.
She worked fast, stacking up the rubble, her hands now colored a chalky white from the debris, to temporarily create a barrier between herself and the monster. The monster was blocking the door so the only way out was a window.
A window.Saya's Stats HP: 15/40 Damage: 0 Charge: 1/3 - Healing Charge Rolling for Defense: 5 -- I GUESS THIS DEFENDS AGAINST THE AUTO 5 DAMAGE Current critter HP: 0/50 Total critters killed: 1

Saya hesitantly put one foot out of the window, wondering if she should really be jumping down. It wasn't a large distance to come down from but it wasn't like a hop, skip and jump either. But the monster was already going through the barrier she made, recovering quickly in it's wispy state.
Her fingers pulled at the handle mechanisms of her sword, aiming another dagger at the monster. Okay, less time to think and probably time to go. She could probably gain a little buffer boost of some sort, if she hung from the window sill and then let herself drop down.Saya's Stats HP: 15/40 Damage: 4 Charge: 1/3 - Healing Charge Rolling for Defense: 5 -- I GUESS THIS DEFENDS AGAINST THE AUTO 5 DAMAGE Current critter HP: 44/50 Total critters killed: 1

It was some time later, with the wispy monster still chasing the trainee around the dorm. Running in the open was worse, she had concluded, since the insanity could probably creep through air faster than turning around walls.
Inside, she was wondering, how long did it take before she lost the monster?
Apparently, not long enough of a time span for her to keep living.
Both arms gripped her weapon, the tip planted firmly into the ground. She edtimated she had a few seconds of healing, before it found her once again. As the type to save her special attacks far later, Saya was a little against using it.
Prompto was all for using it.

Unfortunately, the dorm rooms were a lot bigger than Saya thought. She thought she had almost reached the end at this point but clearly, she wasn't there yet. Even if she was, she could cross the open path back to the base could she?

Okay, it wasn't going to be her last stand. At least she didn't think so. But it could possibly be.
Make up your mind. Prompto said, a little more than urgently.
A bunch of voices excitedly whispered in her head, for what Saya was assuming, her timely demise by this boss monster. Shaking her head, she griped her sword with callused hands. A part of her chided she should have rested more but resting more would have been useless. Sitting in bed always was, when you were mostly in decent condition.
Another part chided that back up might have been nice.
The rest said that her body hurt. She was up in a tree now, waiting for the wisp to appear below her--
-- unfortunately, it appeared from above. Only Prompto's warning saved her, her sword swinging upwards in a defflective attack .. and her back falling down, her foot losing footing on the tree branch she was on. Perhaps, fighting from a tree hadn't been the best idea. A good idea for a sneak attack but not the best, if interrupted.

A flash of light and the chorus if ten thousand angels, was pretty much all Saya would hear as-
- Allan skillfully caugh the trainee in one arm and flipped open his cell phone in the other.
Roar, went the well, silent roar of the Insanity creature as it lowered its head and charged, only to go flying the other direction as the Sun lead continue to talk in a very loud voice through his cell. "I think I found them: short um," he paused for a second to dodge another attack by the fog-creature while scrutinizing the held trainee, who was currently half-resting on one arm, "Colouful, looks like that one girl from episode five of Princess Tutu?"
A notable pause on the other end of the line before there was an audible 'No, wrong Hunter'. The Sun lead looked nonplussed. "I'll keep on searching then, okay, ganbatte-"
-Click.
Still unfazed, Allan finally put Saya down, holding up one finger - one moment please! - as he pulled out his sword, charged at the creature, and cleaved it cleanly in two. The rest of the fog dissolved, dissipating into the environment around them.
The Sun lead turned back around. "Everything okay?" He paused for a second, frowning a bit as he looked aroun Saya's vicinity. "Where are your nakama?"

Saya didn't comprehend what was happening until a few seconds later, when she heard mysterious mention of "Princess Tutu"--- She was in Allan's arms. She was in Allan's arms, he had caught her. It was a awkward moment, when the realization hit like a rolling boulder. Like a animal caught in headlights, she froze up instead of squirming, her eyes wide. A lot of questions attacked the embarassed trainee, her hands curling up in small fists, nails digging into her palm.
Was she too heavy, had Allan always been this tall, should she have worked out on DDR more, what was Princess Tutu, had the girl in episode five been a oneshot character, how had Allan magically teleported here, and did she grab the penguins.
As her thoughts ran around, she was placed down, immediately grasping her balance as her boots touched solid ground. In all the time she spent running, planning, he had only taken a moment to take out the obstacle that had been impossible for Saya.
If there was one thing you learned from Allan, that was the vague meaning of three words. Bankai, Nakama and Taichou. Probably also "ganbatte."
She didn't realize he was talking to her at first. Her hands lifted to do some sort of nervous handwaving motion, both hands extended out, as if she was going to stop some immense force.. Which would be Allan. "Well, I didn't w-want to bother them when they were all resting.." She tried to explain and speaking of rest and nakamas-- The image of the dead hunter lying in the dorms without his nakama was heartbreaking.
Saya had Allan who saved her or she would have ended up in a similar fashion.
Only one thing registered.
"He had a froggy tshirt on. I just thought, he'd rest better with his weapon next to him and then--"
Was she making any sense? She wasn't sure she understood the very meaning of the word, as the voices which rambled on in her head told her otherwise.
