Greetings, I just signed the following petition addressed to Christians. ---------------- I am a Christian who affirms that being gay is no more immoral than is being straight. It's time to end the Christian condemnation of LGBTQ people, which is in direct contradiction to everything for which Jesus Christ stands. People being in a same-sex relationship is not, in and of itself, offensive to God. ---------------- Sincerely, Robert Found this on facebook. I hope you sign too.

Honestly... I can't agree or disagree... I am on the fence with "it is offensive to God"... when I am not God, and I do not believe I have the right to speak on his behalf. Just like the Phelps have no damn right to say God Hates Fags.
I do believe God loves everyone... but still... on the fence.
I know Christians spread the message of God through what is in the Bible... on his behalf... but... If I do not feel like God is saying "Gay is Okay"... then... I dunno. I feel conflicted. I rather just avoid this crap, and get along with the people who I can get along with. No matter who or what they are...

I believe that the Christian Church needs to stop purposely harming people in the LGBT Community. It is not an effective witness for Christ and only adds to the distance.
However, I'm not sure I can sign something like this. I don't know for myself yet if it's offensive to God.
I need time for exegesis and some hermeneutical understanding in this department.

Ummm...
Leviticus 18:22 “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable."
Matthew 5
The Fulfillment of the Law
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven."

Qyp Ummm... Leviticus 18:22 “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable." 2 Corinthians 3:14 But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. 15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. 16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Quote: Matthew 5 The Fulfillment of the Law 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven." NIV Did not Christ resurrect and fulfill the law? Everything is accomplished.

Qyp Oh oh... I did that thing where it's taken out of context didn't I? It's okay. It's a common one. Also there's this little gem too. Hebrews 8:13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

So... the old testament isn't law to Christians... I knew this... but... I then I saw that, and was confused. Silly be forgetting the crucifixion and resurrection was the new beginning...

Oh...1 Corinthians 6:9-10
"Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
Romans 1:26-28
"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper."
And you know what... I am still on the fence.

Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. The translation here is trick. effeminate translates from the word Malakos, meaning soft in morals or the boys who willingly went into Pederasty (learn a trade in exchange for being a sex slave). homosexual is translated from the word Arsenokoites which honestly we don't have anything outside of Church tradition saying that this word means one who engages in homosexual sex. This word exist no where outside the Bible and seems to be a word that Paul coined on the spot. Given the context, I personally think that Arsenokoites is a pederaster (one who teaches a person, often a young person, a trade in exchange for sex)

And you know what... I am still on the fence. Already addressed the 1st one. As for Romans, check the verses before it. Romans 1:22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. This implies that the context is about having pagan ritual sex

Ah... well... Hebrew and Greek never really translated that greatly between each other... so I would guess they would been all mixed up over the centuries...
