Gwendolyn Caspian may not have had the sharpest memory, but she remembered the important stuff. Relatives' birthdays, some anniversaries, Maddy's favorite animals, some history stuff. But more importantly, she remembered her debts, and she was more than eager to pay her dues, especially since it meant meeting up with Jett Draven again. She knew she had a bit of a crush, but she figured it would never be anything beyond that (besides what if this Micah was more than a friend, or he had a girlfriend already? She couldn't begrudge that girl for being lucky...), but she was always eager to meet with friends, and she definitely considered Jett a friend. So today, with $30 (NOT taken without her sister's approval this time) in her pocket but sadly, no Micah to accompany her, Gwen set out towards JW Antiques again. Today she would pay Jett back and remove this blemish to her record. 'And if I'm lucky, maybe I can catch him at the end of his shift and we can go hang out somewhere. Must be boring to be cooped up in that shop all the time...'She figured he could have used the company, though she wished she could have taken Micah. Her pet rat usually perked at the prospect of accompanying her everywhere, but when she offered to take him, her rat merely hiffed and retreated back into his igloo. He was physically healthy, but nothing she could do could convince the moody creature out of his igloo. Gwen thought little of it; after all, as much as she adored him, he was still a rat. 'Oh well, his loss. I'll give Jett his regards anyway.'

There were plenty of places more professionally acceptable for Jett to have been sitting when Gwen walked into the antique store, however he had been too engrossed in admiring the hand-carved designs on a one hundred and fifty year old jewelry box to notice her come in. He’d picked up the piece and taken a seat on the countertop so he could utilize the light in the room to see better and was currently stretched in an awkward position to see best. He wore a pair of what looked like reading glasses, complete with rectangular, sophisticated frames, and didn’t even seem to notice her enter the shop at first.
For a long moment, he was completely still, and then in a single, fluid moment he lowered the jewelry box, took of his glasses, and stood up from off the desk. When the glasses were pocketed, he flipped his hair, ran his fingers through it, and then smiled sweetly to greet his customer. The typical, “Hello, welcome to JW Antiques, how may I help you?” was just about to fall from his lips when he recognized Gwen. The stiff, work-place posture faded as he relaxed and his smile suddenly looked more real. “Oh, hey Gwen. How’s it going?” he asked, setting the box down on the countertop where he’d just been sitting.

Gwen couldn't help but giggle at what she saw, but not out of petty amusement or that he looked silly or anything. In fact, he looked rather nice in them, and she let it be known as she approached him, now that he knew that she was there. "You should keep them on. You look like a gentleman with them on... not that you don't look that great always, because you do." Realizing that she was gushing and only going to be inserting her foot into her mouth, Gwen dropped the subject, not wanting to make a bigger idiot of herself. Cursed hormones, and curse him for being attractive and awesome to trigger them! "So, next paycheck came in and I got my weekly allowance, so I decided it was time to pay you back." She didn't move for her wallet, and she was certain that he'd noticed the lack of purse today. "Thanks for that, by the way. Maddy doesn't know about it, but she really liked the gift." She flashed him her wrist, letting him see the twin tiger bangle that she wore, rather proudly as well. "However, I think she might be really jealous of mine. Tigers are better than silly dolphins, right?"

Jett, perhaps moreso than any male should, thrived on compliments. It wasn’t as if he didn’t already hold an inflated appreciation for himself, however he did always enjoy words of flattery. He just smiled, perhaps a little extra sweetly for her. If he could help it, he wouldn’t be caught dead in his glasses. The last thing he wanted anyone to know was that he had any sort of imperfections. “Naturally. There’s something particularly thrilling about the grace and beauty of a predator. Dolphins, who cares about fish in the guise of mammals,” he said, gesturing offhandedly. Even then, he took a moment to admire the piece she wore, and it filled him with a certain amount of pleasure to see it displayed so proudly.
Far better than keeping it locked up in a box, he was glad to see it dangling from Gwen’s wrist. “Regardless, she enjoyed her gift?” he asked. “Does she wear it as well as you wear yours?”

"If you knew my sister, you'd know that she showcased that bracelet all around the office, like it were the royal jewels of England," Gwen said, approaching the counter and leaning on it, propping her head on her elbows and raising her voice, as though she were imitating her sister. "'Look at what my baby sister got me! Sure, she kind of took the money and might have stolen it, but I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth!'" Gwen chuckled out of nervous habit; the thought of calling herself a thief really bothered her, and before she forgot, she pulled out her wallet and removed the thirty dollars from the sleeve. "And here it is, the thirty I owe you! I would have liked to have held out for another day or two, just to see Maddy sweat, thinking the loan sharks were after us." Though it was far from the truth. She had wanted to return the money earlier, just to see Jett sooner, but it was a pain to have to wait for the spare money for her allowance. That, and her conscious continued to get the better of her. "Thanks again for that favor... I promise, it won't happen again! And I think you might be getting more business from the Caspians, as I dropped a few hints of where Maddy could find more dolphins, should that bracelet not be enough, so I can return your good faith with some business."

Jett could certainly be pleased that the bracelet was going to good use; perhaps it was some sentimental part of him that only came out in rare occasions, but for an item that had remained in a box for the past two years, he was glad it finally had something akin to a home. Better displayed on a girl’s wrist than in a glass case. Extending his hand to take the money, Jett smiled at Gwen. “I had faith in you all along, Gwen. And your business is almost as gratifying as your company.”
He offered her one of his utterly charming smiles, perhaps forgetting his girlfriend for the moment but—what was a little friendly flirting—between friends, of course. Anyway, she started it.
“Should it happen again, I’ll hold no qualms. Besides, I’d like to keep our more interesting customers coming back, and let’s face it. You’re the first person who’s been in here that doesn’t smell like mothballs in—weeks, nearly. Even if you do bring rats into the establishment. Speaking of, where is Micah today? Taking it easy?”

She had been wondering if Jett would have noticed Micah's absence, and while she was flattered that anyone besides herself seemed to care for her adorable little nuisance, it meant that she had to acknowledge the fact that Micah did NOT want to leave his cage. For whatever reason that was simply a mystery to Gwen. "He was being moody today, so I decided to let him stay home for now." Gwen explained, shrugging her shoulders and trying to pretend that it wasn't a big deal. Maybe Micah had a busy night doing ratty business, or maybe he was just being super lazy today. Gwen loved animals, but that didn't mean that she always understood them. "His loss, I guess. He gives his regards though." It meant one less item to carry, and no fear of another thief trying to make off with her purse, and Micah. Also, nothing to hold her back from the possibilities of the makings of a scheme, and she figured now would have been the best of time. "So, you got any plans for lunch? Not sure what's nearby, but if you're looking for some company, I'm free for the afternoon." Then she added, a little softer than she'd usually speak. "If you're interested or didn't bring a sandwich or something... then I'd understand."

Admittedly, Jett wasn’t really heartbroken that the rat wasn’t around, and in fact, knowing that the rodent wasn’t tucked away in Gwen’s purse made him feel all the more comfortable when thinking about eating. The antique store was filled with clocks, and despite having a computer right next to him—or a phone in front of him—he leaned back to observe the time on one of the more ornate grandfather clocks that stood menacingly a few feet away.
“Lunch?” he prompted, though seemed rhetorical. “…Yeah, it’s about lunch time. I could take my break now. Might be nice to get out and have company. Usually I just grab something from the fast food joint down the road, eat at the park, and call my mother,” he said, hardly seeming ashamed to admit. “But nothing beats face to face conversation, and she’s probably still in a meeting. Been in them all week.”
He scooped up his jacket and slid it on, even as he walked around the counter and poked his head into a back room. “Jack, doing lunch. Be back later.”
His boss, a fantastically robust and kind little old man, replied in a cheerful voice, “Have fun!” before Jett turned away. He was still smoothing out his jacket when he returned to Gwen and flashed her another smile. “You care for fast food or is your palette a little more refined than that?”

Gwen had steeled herself for a polite turn down, though she wouldn't have held it against him if he was a little more straightforward about it either, given how he handled cut purses. But it had taken everything, everything within her power to not express anything more than a gleeful smile when he accepted the offer, though she was sure that all of her happiness had shown in her golden eyes. She followed him out of the store, barely making out his question of the chorus of angels singing in her own head. "I'm not too picky. Fast food is fine," Gwen said, standing close and allowing him to make the decision as he knew the area much better than she did. "I'm pretty active so I have no worries about letting fast food slow me down." She flexed her arm in a playful manner, keeping the rest of that sentence to herself. 'Besides, fighting youma is enough of a work out!'"So, where to?"

Jett didn’t have to think about it too much; there was a burger place just a bit away that he was more than fond of so he gestured and began walking, sticking to the sidewalk. It was near enough that he didn’t think he needed to offer to grab his car, and anyway—the weather was nice enough that even he couldn’t complain about a little stroll.
“Well, good. I like a girl that’s not afraid to enjoy her meals without worrying about her weight. My girlfriend—Raven,” he explained, perhaps a reminder that he was dating someone, or perhaps just his way of introducing her to the conversation, “Salad and soy type girls. Carbohydrates being the antichrist, of course. She doesn’t appreciate a burger.”
He rolled his eyes, clearly unimpressed with Raven’s diet. “Anyway. Active is good. Do you sports or something or just job? –When you’re not half cripple, at least,” Jett teased, playful little smirk on his face.

She walked by his side, completely interested in the conversation at hand and not at all concerned where they were going. She trusted Jett to have good tastes in food, especially when he described his girlfriend's particular set of tastes. She didn't forget this fact, and in truth, she was more interested in who this Raven was, and how lucky she was, to be heartbroken over what was nothing more than a crush. Gwen was young, but not entirely stupid; even if Jett wasn't taken, she had a chance that it wouldn't last between them, though why she felt this way was beyond her reasoning. Perhaps she was just too young to understand that yet. "A lot of girls are like that, so it makes eating a burger in front of them all the more enjoyable. You'd think I was twisting their leg or something with the expressions on their faces when I bite into one," Gwen said, imagining their faces, even now. They were just too easy to tease sometimes. Speaking of a tease, Gwen gave him a wry look, but her grin was to let him know that she wasn't offended at all. When the first impression of someone is them having a twisted ankle, one had every right to make a wise crack about that, she thought. "I'm into gymnastics. Nothing too serious and definitely not Olympics level, but it's a good way to stay in shape and keep yourself on your toes. As well as other activities... mostly running around, and such." Gwen then asked, making a fist and lightly punching it into her palm. "What about you? You land a mean right hook, like a professional! You hang out at the gym often, or do you just fly around smacking up cut purses and thieves?"

Jett had to laugh at Gwen’s sense of humor; as if there weren’t many girls who would eat to their heart’s content, there were even fewer that relished in eating food in front of others just to see them squirm. Jett had firm suspicions, implanted most likely by their first meeting, that Gwendolyn would never offer him a dull moment, and so far he had been far from disappointed.
“Something like that,” he explained after a few seconds. “I’ve been boxing for a few years, now. Been in more than a few competitions. Wouldn’t call it professional by any means, just kinda a hobby that I took a little bit seriously. I’ve spent my fair share of time in a gym.”
He lifted his arm and mimicked her flex from earlier; it was clear that Jett had taken his boxing very seriously, and while he was not some grotesque monument of steroids and bodybuilding, he had a fair bit of muscle to show off on his upper arms. “So, it’s more than just keeping in shape since I figure it’s got a practical use, too. Comes in handy when I want to stop a cut purse before he gets too far,” he promised with a wink before lowering his arm.
Though they hadn’t walked far, already the smell of burgers was wafting through the air, and a plume of faintly colored smoke from the stoves was visible from even this distance.

Boxing as a hobby? Gwen had never thought about it, though she had seen the end results of such a hobby just a week ago. Not only would it help her walking the streets, but it would have been extremely useful in her nightly patrols as Sailor Tsui. Perhaps she would have to spend some time at the gym... once she found where the closest one to her apartment was. "I've gotten into a few fights in my time, both before coming to St. Mags or Destiny City, but I never had any training. Just figured I'd try to punch them first before they had the chance to knock me out," Gwen said, throwing a series of mock punches and certain that she looked rather clumsy, especially compared to Jett's form. "People think girls only slap and scratch and grab at each others hair, but that's hardly true. We get pretty dirty too... some of us kick in heels!" She recalled a few scuffles on the school grounds, where she had some victories, and losses, but those were nothing compared to the fights against the Negaverse, or the Dark Mirror Court. Yes, if she had some amount of training in boxing, then maybe she could finally stand a chance in a fight against Sailor Remarque. 'I owe him a rematch, after all...' Her quest for training in the ways of boxing king fu was halted by the smell of meat smoking on a grill, and she spoke over the sound of her stomach growling. "Now that's a heavenly aroma; better than any cologne or body spray!" She moved ahead, following the smoke she saw and eager to get a taste of that food. If it smelled this good, imagine how it'd taste!

Jett couldn’t resist the grin that slipped onto his face. Gwen’s enthusiasm pleased him greatly; Raven would have made him a lot happier if she could have as much passion for a good cut of beef. Following Gwen’s lead, he pulled open the door and gestured for her to step in.
The place looked friendly enough, if not a little dated. They weren’t the only ones who had decided that now was a good time for lunch, however the line was short and seemed to be moving quickly.
“You know, first meeting you, I could have doubted you were the type to have ever been in a fight. Not the sort of things a girl might brag about. I should have figured when you got your licks in on that guy who tried to snag your purse.”
He had far from forgotten the kicks she’d thrown in the guy’s direction before her ankle took her down. He hadn’t pegged Gwen for a St. Mags girl—but, go figure. You tell yourself not to be surprised by someone and then a minute later still end up being surprised by them.
“You’ve got the right idea, though. Punch first. If you get a good enough blow in, you never have to worry about throwing a second one. There are a few good gyms in the area if you ever wanted to take some classes or learn a few punches. Or you could meet up with me one day, I could give you some lessons,” he said, stepping into the building. His mouth was watering already and was vaguely grateful for the slight noise when his stomach growled again.

Gwen immediately went to the back of the line, stepping on her tip toes to try and get a look at the menu, thankful it was at least placed high enough for her to see it over the gentleman's broad shoulders. She had absolutely no idea what she wanted, besides something heavy on the meat, and the thought of receiving boxing lessons from Jett intrigued her more than whatever delicacies were on the menu. She had already seen him in action, knocking a guy for a loop with a single punch? She tried to imagine if she could do the same; it'd certainly make her fights against youma and the forces of Chaos a whole lot easier. "I think I'd like that, giving robbers and bullies a good punch in the jaw. They'll never think to mess with me again!" The way her golden eyes lit up was a little too mischievous, but any chance to improve herself and spend with Jett was worth a few 'dark points' being added to her rep sheet. She looked at the menu again, but her mind drew a blank. "Now, I trust you Jett... what's the best burger here?"
