No one could have predicted that the volcano's would erupt like they did. One of the huge mega-volcano's, yes. But not all of them within days of each other. Even as they plunged the world into volcanic winter, they remade the world as humans knew it. The supernatural came out of the shadows. Some proved benign and even helpful. Others, not so much.
But now they were real. Vampires, Shape shifters of all kinds, Witches, Sorcerers and Sorceresses, Elves, Demons, Dragons, Necromancers, Zombies, and so many more. Then there was the ultimate threat to the Church that had somehow survived the disaster... The ancient Gods and Goddesses were also real (rp'ed by Red Gypsy and Hot Champion_of-Justice only at this time)... So the Church started training their Hunters to track down and kill the monsters of folklore while trying to get the humans back into the fold.
Then... Somewhere along the way... One place in the human realm became the Church's ultimate focus...
For centuries, a castle has sat upon the lonely and forbidding hill, located deep on an island. No one has ever been able to find out its origination, when it was built or even why. But something lives deep within it, haunting it's halls according to the villagers. Some say it's ghosts in the castle, others say it is a witch, but the reality is vampires take residence in the dark hall. Sebastet, the owner of the castle, is not only a vampire, but a sorceress as well.
On the other end of the island from the castle, a small human village resides. Those who have ever dared to enter the castle have never returned. Until today, no one had ever dared to enter the castle again. Young teenagers, the bold and the bravest, have stepped forth into the castle once again. That is, those that haven't already moved away because of the strange happenings in the village.
But over the years the villagers have come to see the new owner of the castle as a protector, someone that they can trust completely. They have seen many come and go from the castle, some to stay and some only to visit. They have all brought business to the village. The Village Elders have even signed a Treaty with Sebastet, giving her the castle as well as the island in return for her protection and aid whenever they need it. And so the Village prospered once more…
For a time. But too many have left never to return. The villagers worry that their lives will become unpredictable once more, that they may have to leave the island as well.
Are there any more that will come? Is there no one else that will come to help out their lives? Or will the castle become abandoned once more, leaving them to fight for their lives again?
