 Life is simply bizarre at times. Anila looked at the flowers as she pondered the way her world was right now. She had four lovely and amazing children, a few grandchildren and a handsome mate. Life was perfect. Yet on lazy days like today she wanted more from life. She wanted to know Marcus’s family, she wanted her own to live closer to home. She wanted to have known her grandkits before they grew up. Taking a slow breath in she exhaled even slower. It was silly to think like this, but it wasn’t like things would simply change overnight. Perhaps she should travel with Marcus and get a chance to meet everyone. Maybe make a few stops along the way to check up on their children? She flicked her ears wondering if Marcus would be up for that. It would mean a long hard journey that both might start out thinking it was a good idea and then up regretting later. Still if it was with Marcus Anila didn’t care how it turned out. He was her everything and she would follow him anywhere. Getting up she decided to propose the idea and see what he thought of it all.

 Marcus lay among the flowers, watching Anila lazily from a distance. He had felt himself this past week: an inexplicable listlessness. Life had grown quieter without the children and he longed for something more. But did Anila? They hadn't actually talked about it, Marcus assumed she liked it here in their home. But perhaps she missed the children and grandchildren too.
Well, if she was feeling this for very long, Anila would have told him already. Hardly any guesswork was necessary with the wonderful 'Phim that he called his mate; Marcus knew she was quite open about her feelings. So unless he was positive that she wanted something else, he would continue to assume she as fine where she was. Perhaps, then, he should bring up his own feelings on the subject to her?
Yes, Marcus determined to do that. Perhaps it could just be a family vacation of sorts? Well, by family he probably meant just the two of them visiting each family member separately. That seemed more likely than gathering everyone together to travel somewhere.
Marcus stood to head towards her, but it seemed like they would meet in the middle, as Anila was heading towards him as well.

The petals soft under her paws Anila tried to think of the best way she could phrase her idea so that it sounded like a good one. One thing Marcus had in spades was his sense of practicality. He was a smart fox and would easily see any flaws in her plan to head out so Anila tried to think of a way around the problems before they arose. Of course Marcus would help her solve any problems and possibly have a better way to do it, but Anila wanted to get a start on it so that she felt like she was a boon not a burden.
Seeing him coming toward her the phim wondered what her mate had on his mind. He was usually so reserved that whatever he had to say must be something that had been worried him for a while. There had been a time when such a thing would have sent Anila’s heart into a clenched knot wondering if Marcus had finally come to his senses and decided that he didn’t want to be paired with her anymore. Still now Anila could wave such worries aside with a flick of her tail. She knew without a doubt Marcus loved her unconditionally and that was a blessing the modieties themselves must be responsible for.
Meeting him in the middle she nuzzled him and decided to let him get whatever he wanted off his mind first. After all what she had to say could change things for them for a long time to come.
