The Night is Made for This: RP between [The Libra] (Tenko72) and [Rubido] (Reoakee) Glade:: Flyterion Glades Setting:: Night. Mild. It's cloudy, but the sky's blue and the waxing half moon is visible. There's rarely a breeze.

The Libra had an eventful day. Her younger brother, Souppi, had staggered into her burrow and collapsed in a heap in a corner. She thought he looked like he had the sugar blues. Or was drunk, but no one she knew would be that irresponsible, so she thought the sugar blues were most likely. "What's the matter? Where's your brother?" She was accustomed to seeing Souppi with Livewire, so she thought if one was here, then the other must not be far behind. Silence. "Did you come here all by yourself?" While she had never witnessed it, knowing Livewire, she wouldn't be surprised to learn that he had done this as part of some training exercise. "No, but not with him."She sighed in relief. She didn't think she would be able to get much information out of him now, so she left him alone and let him sleep. They could talk more in the morning. "Good night, little one."She was glad night finally came. It had been a hot day. After the sun set, things finally became bearable. She left her burrow and looked up at the night sky. It was too early to see many stars, but she thought the moon looked just lovely.

Rubido stretched out his wings and yawned he was in the glades to relax for a bit. It helped him think and gave him time alone to come up with more joke or poems. Looking up a the moon he mused aloud for moment . “Oh little moon there. How pretty you are way up high, Like half cherry pie.” He smiled at himself for his little impromptu hiku. He liked it and when he got home he would see if the human he lived with would get him some. He liked pie a lot. And any extra he got he could use for a prank on Tamie. Grinning wider he could just imagine having the pie filling over his eyes and use his paw to ‘pop’ out some cherries and tell Tamie they were his eyes. Oh that would be funny. She’d probably end up screaming and hiding and it would take a while to get her out, but then he’d share the pie with her and things would be fine. It was sad that he knew exactly how things would go, but all the same at least he knew he wouldn’t hurt her. He sighed still moon gazing.

The Libra strolled over towards Rubido and said, "Good evening, mysterious stranger." Then, she looked up at the moon again. "I see what you mean. It does look like a pie. Is there any reason you said cherry as opposed to any other flavor?" She had tried many kinds of pie and she could not decide which one she liked best.

“Mysterious? Well I don’t know about that, but I will agree to the strange part. Still I don’t know if I’m strange-er than you or not miss stranger.” He thought for a moment. “Well I do like most any pie I think cherries seemed to fit her since the moon can look red or orange at times. I’ve heard of a blue moon, but I’ve never seen one.”
(Wow that is really bad word play. *headdesk*)

The Libra giggled. If what he said hadn't been so silly, then she would've been insulted. "You're funny."
"That makes sense. I've seen more red moons than blue ones. I've seen them before, but the name is deceiving. They look the same as a normal moon. The only times I've seen a moon that actually looked blue were after fires." After that, she shivered. "They're beautiful, but those fires scare me."

Well that was a very cute giggle. Rubido smiled. “Thank you miss.” He listened to her quietly he liked learning something new and this was interesting. “I did not know that… I think that the moon looks pretty no matter what.” He extended a wing over her protectively. “I think fires can be very scary, but you know that sometimes they are needed for the ground to replenish itself.. it’s like a..” He thought for a moment. “Well it’s kinda like running though the mudd day after day. You get dirtier and it dries, then you get dirtier again.. eventually you’ll need to take a bath to get all the dirt clumps out of your fur. You know?”

"You're welcome, sir. And I agree. Nights would be far more boring without it to light the way. Not that the stars aren't gorgeous themselves, of course. The Libra stopped shivering when he put his wing over her. "Thank you."
After she heard what he said next, she cocked her head confused and half closed her eyes in thought. That was an interesting way to put it. Then, she laughed and said, "I know what you mean." She realized she wasn't 100% sure of herself - more like 70% - and swiftly added, "I think I know what you mean. It's like a bath for the ground? I've heard of some trees with seeds that can only come out during a forest fire, so that makes sense."

“Sir? Nope I’m Rubido. Calling me sir is like calling a jester ‘your majesty’ it just doesn’t fit quite right.” Rubido thought for a moment. “The stars are pretty, but they seem more for play then for light.” He could only smile at the girl next to him. She seemed very easy to please. He had to admit that made him a bit temped to tease her, but since he didn’t know how she would react he kept the sharper part of his tongue sheathed. “You’re most welcome. It’s never a problem to lend a wing to someone in need. And you have it just so. There are plants that need the fire, and there are also times when the entire forest needs a good bath because it has become so clogged with debris and junk that if a fire didn’t happen then the forest would suffocate.”

"Rubido it is then." Then, she pointed to herself and said, "You can call me The Libra. The "The" is part of my name." She winked and added, "Don't forget that."
"Now that you mention it, you do seem like a jester. You're very silly and they're the only ones that could make fun of the king and queen and keep their heads." She wasn't sure how she felt about that, yet. Her only experience with pranksters, so far, had been with a girl, Spider's Silk, who made herself her self-proclaimed rival. The Libra wasn't fond of her at all.
"They're good for direction too. So long as there's a clear sky, I won't get too lost. When it's cloudy, I have four left feet, though." She embarrassingly laughed at that last part.
"That's good to know." Then, she stretched, her haunches went into the air, and she yawned. After that, she sat down and said, "I suppose it's about time for me to head back. Would you like to walk with me?"

Nodding thinking that her name made perfect sense since you wouldn't just call the moon, moon; he smiled widely. “Very well The Libra. I won’t forget, but you know I have to ask.. When someone wants to call you a nickname or a shortened version of your name do they use ‘The’?”
He rolled his eyes. “Yes but all the same you have to know when to stop or at least tone down the pranks. It becomes bullying if you go too far and that’s just not fun for anyone.” He pulled his own wing back and folded it in close to his side. He chuckled in good nature at her joke. “Dancing must be hard for you then The Libra. Still it’s better than having two left feet and five right flippers. That would make walking hard but hopping interesting.”
Shrugging he stretched out his wings behind him and nodded. “Sure thing. I wouldn’t mind the exercise.” The night was nice and a walk sounded just fine to him. He didn’t have any place he really had to get to, so he could be out all night without a problem.

The Libra laughed. "You know, I never thought of that. No one has ever called me that before, but when it comes to nicknames, anything goes, right? It would certainly make for some odd sounding sentences, though. Lots of awkwardly placed articles."
She wondered what the eye-roll was for. It rubbed her the wrong way. Did I go and do something tacky again? Perhaps.
"You can say that again." Thoughts of spider webs stretched over burrow entrances, thistles slipped under her before she sat down, and waking up with bizarre markings painted on her face filled her mind.
"That's funny, but true. I'm as good at dancing as a duck is at ballet. But you're right, it could be worse." After that, she walked forward through the glades.

Smiling at the The Libra Rubido liked the sound of her laughter. It was a pleasing pitch. “Well then The, I’ll call you by that nickname as long as I don’t have to many other ‘the’s to toss in a sentence. I’m sure someone of your capable vocabulary could pick out which times I’m talking to you.”
He laughed a bit. “I take it you’ve been pranked a bit too much too fast. Still I hope you can forgive the prankster. I’m sure he or she meant well not harm. Sometimes we can all get carried away by our respective passions.” He was certain that The Libra was the kind to find something interesting and then would go all out when looking at it, or whatever it was she did when she found something interesting.
He looked at her. She definitely did not look like a duck. “Well then my dear delectable friend, I look forward to seeing you dance if only to see you swim.” Let’s hope she was as smart as he hoped she was so she would catch the complement he used. If not he supposed he would have to be a bit blunter like he had to be with Tamie.

"That's fine with me." The Libra, or The as he had called her, wondered if the bit about "capable vocabulary" was meant as flattery. She wondered about many things, actually.
"Of course, I forgave her. I kind of had to. She's kind of my sister." She looked every which way while she talked, as if she didn't put much stock into her words. Also, because of this, the loudness of her voice went from loud, to normal, to barely audible.
Then, she looked ahead of herself again. "Of course, I forgave her. I kind of had to. She's kind of my sister.
"I can tell she loves what she's doing. I just wish she'd be more honest about it. I just hate liars." She felt a bit embarrassed about airing her laundry with someone she had just met. She had meant for her story to come off as more of a friend of a friend tale.
"Ah, thank you." She wasn't accustomed to anything besides food being described as "delectable". That is a compliment, right? I mean, no one uses delectable as an insult. No one. She smiled and said, "I'll try not to disappoint. Would you mind if I did it now? I know there isn't any music playing, but trust me, it'll be the same as if there were."

Actually surprised that The would let him call her by a nickname Rubido thought to himself that he should call her that as often as he could. It seemed a shame to come up with a nickname and not use it. He then listened to her admit that she had been pranked by her sister. He didn’t catch the end of her sentence until she repeated it. “Well that’s nice that you can forgive her The.” He awarded The with a lopsided grin that made him look like a fool. “Well she might be honest in her heart, but it might not translate to her mouth. Is there anything that she does that shows you how she feels. Besides pranks of course, sometimes those can tell you someone’s feelings, and sometimes not.” He decided not to comment on her opinion of liars after all it really wasn’t his place to speak and he would feel odd about commenting on something so serious. He would probably make a joke and accidentally annoy The. Judging from the way she thanked him he guessed that she missed his compliment. Ah well it wasn’t so surprising. Others had a hard time understanding him unless he took the time to clarify things. Maybe he should clarify a bit now, but how could he say it so that he didn’t make her feel bad for missing it.
“I don’t mind. I’d love to see you dance. If you’d like we could take it to the air and dance a bit in the sky.” He winked. “Up there I’m sure you’d discover that like a duck you can a bit awkward on the land, but when you get into the air or water you are as graceful as swan. After all everyone has a forte somewhere. It just might not be where we expect.”
