Keeping up with patrols was getting more and more difficult as the end of his second year in college drew to a close. No matter how much homework he ended up getting, Valhalla was doing his best to head out and keep an eye on the streets of the city at least once every few days. There were plenty of other senshi and knights out there to jump into action, but just in case they were having trouble keeping up with their lives as well, he wanted to at least relieve them from some of the work.

The night was rather inactive, anyway. There didn't seem to be any youma or negas prowling the streets, so he decided to check the parks. He knew it would be unlikely to find Ladon sleeping on a bench again, but that didn't mean there wouldn't be others in the park. They needed to be protected just as much as anyone else.

Valhalla swung his compass back and forth as he walked down the path, looking this way and that and trying to catch a hint of dark energy that would surely spell danger. Just because nothing big had happened since the Surrounding incident didn't mean that they should get lax in their duties as senshi and knights.

At first he didn't know what had happened. One moment he was the only one with any kind of energy signal, and then another that rivaled his own in power level that seemed to just... appear out of thin air. Unfortunately, he had no idea where it was coming from!! The surge was so sudden that it seemed to be coming from everywhere, and all Valhalla could do was spin around and try to get a glimpse of... whatever it was...

He sincerely hoped it wasn't a giant youma... he definitely didn't have a pen or anything to write on in order to send a message for help. Talk about a time consuming inconvenience! He knew he should have brought his headset. It was much more reliable in an emergency situation.

Mirrorwalking was becoming more and more enjoyable, and every so often, Lesath would find herself just spending some time in the strange area known as mirrorspace, and would explore some, trying to find different mirrors to exit out of, and seeing where she could remember, and pop up in the location. She had already spent a good portion of this night to doing just that, and decided it would be best to come out at the park and find a few poor souls to drain of their energy before heading home. It was good to at least pretend to be productive after all.

She gave a yawn as she walked out of the mirror, then froze. There was another source of energy nearby and it seemed to be on par with her…well. Maybe tonight would include more than just draining some sap. Maybe it would include a nice little fight as well.

The senshi of moths made her way towards the signature, seeing only a tall boy dressed in…furry things. Hm. Maybe he was a knight or something, since that didn’t look very much like a white moon senshi outfit at all.

He looked confused too. The poor guy. She was just too much for him, even now. That much was completely clear. She grinned, then stepped out towards him. “Well. Are you looking for something or just decided to go for a spin?” Lesath crossed her arms, raising a brow. She didn’t have to be polite, not when it was an enemy she was talking to. Being snarky was completely within her power.

He lifted his hands into the air upon hearing the voice, the beaded chain of his compass wrapped around his fingers so that the object hung near his right elbow. While he was confused as to where the energy was coming from for a few moments, it didn't take him long to realize that the sudden appearance must be because she'd come through a mirror. But where...?

"Not looking, really," he said, a sheepish grin in response to the way she spoke and held herself. She seemed so serious, yet she looked like something of an overgrown bug. Antennae and everything. It was kind of cute...

"Uh... Valhalla, of Jupiter," he introduced, his hands still lifted in a way that he hoped would show that he was unarmed. "You're... part of the Dark Mirror Court, aren't you...?" he cautioned a guess, although her sudden appearance, the dark energy, and the way she was dressed seemed enough to give it away. Although she wasn't part of this new court of Parallels, running into DMC senshi made him miss Zia. She had her own life to deal with, of course, but he sincerely hoped she was doing well. Maybe he would get the chance to see her soon.

But now wasn't the time to start worrying about things like that. Right now he had a very serious situation in front of him. What was a DMC senshi doing in the park this late at night? Not just going for a stroll, he'd imagine.

She shrugged, continuing to keep her arms crossed over her chest. Sure, it wasn’t the best posture to be having in case the knight attacked her…but, it really didn’t seem like that was going to happen anytime soon. This guy looked like he would rather make conversation. And he was introducing himself like they were friends or something. Well.

“My name is Sailor Lesath, yes, I am part of the Dark Mirror Court, why do you ask? Have you met with more of my court before?” She had to admit, she was rather curious about that…most people always seemed so confused when they saw her, so she had begun to assume people just didn’t remember her court existed. Though, perhaps with how the unity of her group had dropped since Christmas time…part of her really wasn’t surprised at this.

“Jupiter, hm? Never met a Jupiter knight before. I mostly deal with the…Chronos ones, I think is what they’re called. I know that two of them really get on my nerves.” She watched him for a long moment, and then smirked. “Are you going to get on my nerves, Valhalla? I really do hate it when people do that, you know.”

She wasn’t being the friendliest person by a long shot. Maybe she really did want to get into a fight with this guy, and…maybe if he didn’t rise to her bait, she would just…start the fight herself. No harm in that, after all.

He certainly wasn't going to attack her, and kept his hands in the air as if that would prove that he wasn't a threat to her. She didn't look too concerned that he would try and hurt her, but he was also doing his best to not offend her somehow.

"I know very little about your court," he tried to explain, looking her over curiously. She had nice legs, but he quickly forced his eyes back up to her face. "I know you use mirrors to travel..." he revealed, having been through mirror space before, but only with the assistance Zia. "And I know you follow Sailor Ares... I've never met her, and I've only met a couple others of your court... Sailor Al-Janah and Sailor Remarque... And I do know a... friend... of Sailor Leto's before she was..." What...? Was corrupted...?

Valhalla paused to glance away, not sure he wanted to get into how he knew Sailor Europa, who knew Sailor Leto as more than just another senshi on the side of Chaos. "I don't want to get on your nerves, Lesath," he tried instead, shifting awkwardly in place.

"But I do need to ask you... why are you here...?" He looked to her sadly, knowing the answer was most likely not to just... take a stroll.

The blonde continued to watch him, nodding as he gave her the information that he knew about her and her faction, though pausing when he mentioned Remarque. “And…did you get along with Remarque…because, let me tell you, if you didn’t, and if you made him uncomfortable in any way, I’m going to bash your face in right here and now. I don’t care what you say about it.”

She shrugged at the question of why she was there and stretched, giving a small flinch as her knuckles cracked. “I’m just out trying to get my job done…like I assume you’re out doing. Just need some energy to keep the boss lady happy, after all. So, if you’re done talking, I’ll go get what I need and go home, and nobody will be any worse for wear, sound good, Jupiter boy?”

The urge to really attack him was fading, and that was starting to tick her off, at least a little. To be honest, he seemed like a pretty okay guy, and even sort of reminded her a little of how Grant acted, nice and polite…and that was a real pain when you were itching for a fight.

Valhalla laughed awkwardly at the defensive stance she took on his acquaintanceship with Remarque, keeping his hands held up in a clear show of being unarmed. "I'm still here, aren't I? I mean, he's an eternal, right...? Ah, I mean... I think he and I got along rather well. We only talked, not thing else," he rambled, trying to somehow convince her that he wasn't there to try and cause any trouble.

Of course, he wouldn't allow her to just... do anything to hurt someone else.

He frowned sadly still as she all but confirmed his suspicions. "I can't allow you to take anyone's energy, Lesath," he told her, prepared to better defend himself should she become hostile. "Why do you need the energy for Sailor Ares?" he wondered out loud, too curious not to at least voice a question or two. "I'm... not sure about the goals of the Dark Mirror Court... but I would like to discuss the possibility of a truce."

Ah, he doubted that was something she'd agree to, but he'd never know if he didn't at least ask.

She stared at him, then flat out laughed. A truce? Was he daft? “What do you think you’re playing at, Valhalla? Do you really expect me to form a truce with you? Give me one good reason why I should. Or are you just too chicken to fight a girl. That must be it.”

Lesath flipped a strand of hair from in front of her shoulder, wishing that it was still long as it had been, so it would have made a much more dramatic effect. “No, I don’t think I’m in the mood for a truce with anyone from your side tonight. Maybe you can try again later. For now, why don’t you just run along and let me drain some smelly homeless guys, okay? Buh-bye now, Valhalla.”

She turned on her heel and began to walk away from him, not having her back to him, just walking in another direction, though kept her eyes on him, waiting, almost hoping that he would do something. Jupiter was supposed to be the god of war…wasn’t he? Or was that Mars? The blonde sighed. Roman mythology was dumb anyway.

He was a guy, and a knight type guy. Those types of guys didn’t just let a chaos type girl walk away like that. Not after pride was involved.

He frowned at her, offended that she wasn't taking him seriously. He wanted there to be some kind of way for peace. If there could be a truce made, then that would be great! For everyone! It had nothing to do with whether or not she was a girl.

"I'm not playing at anything," he called after her as she turned to head away from him. He didn't want to fight her, but he didn't want anyone else hurt in the process. "I'm not on any side. I just want peace. What do you want? Why are you doing this?? Why collect energy?" he asked, jogging a little to keep up with her.

He wasn't about to let her out of his sight now that he knew she was going to go and sap energy from some hapless victim. Hell, he'd rather it be himself than someone who couldn't defend themselves, but he wasn't about to just volunteer. Not right then, at least. Actually, he knew he shouldn't allow that at all, but... if he was desperate, it was always an option, right?

Just as long as he didn't let certain others know about his careless ways.

But he wouldn't attack her. Not unless he absolutely had to. He held his compass tightly in his hand, around the odd rings that kept it from moving anywhere but parallel to the ground.

She stopped in her walking and looked to him, crossing her arms. “Are you being serious right now? You’re telling me that you’re not on any side, look. Sorry buddy…sorry Valhalla.” Lesath said his name with such sarcasm. “You really can’t convince me that you’re not on a side, because you reek of the goody-goody aura, and honestly? Being around you makes me feel nauseous.” It was like a vanilla scented candle. It was too sweet to handle, too…to strong. Disgusting.

The blonde rolled her eyes. “I want you to leave me alone. I’m doing this because it’s my job, and I’m collecting energy because I can. Are you happy? Or are you going to keep asking more questions, because, really, you’re starting to annoy the crap out of me.”

She was half tempted to just lie. Lie and tell him she was going home, just so she could slip into a mirror and exit somewhere else, away from this bleeding heart guy. She was tired of his voice already.

Guys who had too many questions and opinions were such a turn off.

"I am being serious!" he insisted, frowning at her sarcasm. "Look, I don't know what happened, but you're being tricked, Lesath. I'm friends with those who knew Ares before she turned to chaos, those of her own kind, too," he said, his thoughts turning to Zia and wondering how she was doing.

"We don't have to keep fighting... If you just tell me what you need the energy for... Are... you dying? Do you need energy because of that...?" he asked, also recalling Sailor Mia explaining the mysterious tree that had appeared in the park a few years before. They had just needed energy to survive, right...? But in the end, the negaverse wiped them out...

"I want to understand. Why is it your job? And no, I'm not happy, because you're avoiding the question and it's making me think that even you don't know the answer. You can't possibly like hurting others for fun... right?" he asked, wondering if maybe he was a bit too naive about this, after all. They couldn't all just be... bad people, right...? They were being tricked into it by Ares...

Lesath rolled her eyes. “Look, just…stop talking to me. You’re really getting on my nerves, and honestly, I’m tired of seeing your face and hearing your voice.” She turned to look at him and crossed her arms. “If you want me to say I won’t hurt anyone, then fine. You stop talking, stop asking questions, and I’ll flit back through a mirror and go home for the night.”

She was surprised she hadn’t just punched him in the face…

He seemed like a nice enough guy, but he was just…terribly annoying. “In fact, goodbye, Valhalla. Go protect the universe somewhere else. I think there are some baby bunnies that are about to get hit on the head by some crazy guy. Go. Flee. Save them. Just leave me alone. Get your answers from someone else.” The blonde reached over, patting Valhalla on the head, then running, diving into the nearest mirror and just lingering in Mirrorspace for a few minutes, sighing in relief.

That was a knight who would be able to get his way just by talking people’s ears off. If she faced him again, she hoped that she would have some advil with her. Just to ease the headache that Valhalla caused.
