Kessling strode into the broad sheltered meadow. The sun shone warm on her dark coat. It was nice to have a break from her new family. After being alone for so long it was a bit overwhelming to be surrounded by even 3 people. Alddrion her chosen was normally quite quiet right up until either of his brothers were around. Then there was teasing, talking, squabbling and full on wrestling, Kessling tried to stay out of the way when that happened. Dea was alright if a bit more talkative then Alddrion. And she was pregnant and threw up alot. Kessling wished she could help her more. But sadly all she could do was make sure Alddrion didn't make a complete fool of himself. Serenity was a good friend. One of her only friends actually. But she was so brightly colored it sometimes hurt Kessling's eyes to watch her for too long. Her eye, newly adjusting to the sun scanned the clearing along with her ears. All seemed quiet but appearances could be deceiving. Her nostrils flared and she traced the air. Mostly meadow scents but there was a trace of musk on the wind. "Huh, a male." she wondered when whoever "He" was had passed through. The scent reminded her that she was missing something, someone who she could talk to no matter what. Someone who was a little like her but also a little different so they could have interesting conversations. Her family was so closely bonded that it would be exciting to talk to someone who wasn't stuck in the intricate web. Kessling pondered a little more then sniffed disdainfully at the stringy green stuff at her feet. Being a vampire she found the stuff too hard to swallow. In fact she could never remember actually eating it. Her delicate black nose wrinkled.

It was within the sheltered meadow that the mare stepped into a creature slumbered close to a tree. A massive brute of muscle, it appeared that he was being covered by some sort of leathery barrier. The way it gently bobbed up and down was the only indication that it was a living being. A small nose had poked out of an opening, nostrils flaring and quivering ever so slightly and gently as he breathed. It was only when he heard the footfalls of another did the mass begin to stir. With a grunt, a body began to unfurl as demonic wings stretched revealing an equine being. His eyes shone a somber green, markings of purple dotted his blue frame. The stallion stretched his limbs - including his wings - to their full length, gentle popping sounds audible in the air. As he relaxed, he shook his body allowing his gaze to stare at the equally dark colored mare before him. Though her markings gave contrast to the rest of her body, she appeared to be of something more nefarious than what he would care to delve too deeply into. But she was pretty. And she was a female. So what was she doing out here by herself? D'mitri gave a grunt as he strode forward to stretch his powerful legs, wings kept close to his body. His clawed tips wrapped around the back of his rump much like interlocking hands. The feel of the sun was comforting and it made his blood boil with warmth. He was preparing himself to speak with the mare or whenever she chose to address him. Hopefully it would go well.

A flash of movement caught Kessling's eye. How could she have missed him! Scent or no scent he was huge...and well gorgeous. He had a huge broad wingspan and lovely dark coloring. Lucky day! She hoped his personality matched his outside. She was sure he had been many interesting places. Oh what fun those travels probably had been.
"Well hello there. I knew I had smelt a male in this clearing." she said and smiled. Remembering her fangs she tried to cover them with her lip. Not everyone was as accepting as Serenity was. Abashed she ducked her head a bit. "You have a very lovely meadow, and I apologize if I disturbed you. But it is just so wonderful out here. You have no idea how good sun feels if you haven't been out in it for a couple years....Oh! My I am sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Kessling. A pleasure to meet you." One of her eyes twitched. Her adopted sister friend was getting to her. She hadn't talked this much so fast in well...ever. She blinked.

The female's voice was as enchanting as her frame. Her eyes were just as deeply alluring as he found himself staring at them for a longer length of time than he would have allowed in the presence of any other. His tail flicked behind him a little, nostrils flaring as he took in her feminine scent. It was slightly intoxicating but then again D'mitri hadn't been around many females. The only other one he had been with was long gone by now surely and she had probably forgotten about him.
Which at the moment he was starting to forget about her as well. The stallion gave a grunt, "Not my land." He shrugged idly making sure to keep his mouth movements as slow as possible. His carnivorous teeth would certainly scare her away and this was the first interaction he had with anyone in a while. "Sun gives warmth to all, not only I." D'mitri still found it strange that she met him with such kindness rather than an angered shout in fear of him. It was a wonder that she hadn't ran away at all when he first got to his feet. And what did she mean by a couple of years? Was she so accustomed to the darkness - such as he - that light still remained foreign to the likes of her - as it did him? "Kesssss...Kesslling. Kessss..." He murmured her name over as if trying to get the pronunciation right. He'd probably butcher it a few more times, but dammit the stallion was trying. "I am..D'mitri...Demi too.." The male gave another grunt flashing a smile before remembering his sharp teeth. Those were quickly placed back into hiding as he looked down a little embarrassed at his folly.

Wow did he ever have a deep voice. Her pelt kinda tingled a bit. Oh this was so exciting! "D'mitri...thats a cool name, does it mean anything? Oh! I didn't know you had fangs too!" she crowed in delight. "Now I don't have to hide mine." She flashed a smile back at him. Showing her elongated teeth. "This is kinda neat. Not everyday do you meet someone.., well not often do I meet someone with canines. Most of them have those blunt teeth to eat grass...Pleh. Nasty green stuff with no flavor. Can't stand it. Can you?" She cocked her head to the side. She was so excited. Someone with the potential to understand where she was coming from! Finally.
Both of Kessling's ears perked forward to await his answer. She was acting like a hyper little filly and she knew it. She wondered how long she could be excited before she burnt out and became exhausted. Well there was only one way to find out.

His eyes snapped up hearing her voice as she suddenly commented on her own set of teeth. D'mitri suddenly didn't feel all that alone as he couldn't help but flash his own again as if to compare to hers. Kessling was becoming slowly more delightful even if she didn't have wings. There was a sense about her that made the stallion feel all the more...well normal. "I...understand. Meat is better for me...disgusting grass..." D'mitri gave a grunt as if emphasize his distaste for the flora around him. His ears flicked forward listening to her all the while. It was so exciting to finally meet someone that was a bit like him. She was a creature of the night and enjoyed the same food he did. "Do...do you hunt? Have...hunt? Are...alone?" The stallion knew he was talking a bit much but he was so curious about her. And he hadn't spoken to anyone in so long. It wasn't like he was that desperate for attention but a kindred spirit to talk to...how lucky could a male get?!

"I am the only one in my unit that hunts. My chosen occasionally comes along to do some hunting of his own. My friend serenity prefers the green stuff. But its not edible..at all. No clue how she does it. So no I am not alone..but I was..not too long ago. I never left my forest and only ventured out at night. I was ashamed of how I looked. Humans before had never understood and they abused me. I ran away and had been in my forest ever since. Only now am I less afraid. Now that I have my chosen and his family." She paused. "I'm sure you didn't want to hear my life history...are you hungry? Cause I could sure use a tandem hunt. I have never had one."

It surprised D'mitri how much Kessling was like him. She had been wronged by the two-leggers as well and he didn't put it against her to harbor hate. However, she found humans that eventually came to love her and it appeared she loved her chosen back. It was...strange for D'mitri for he was still unsure of humans. The only other one he met had the distinct honor of riding on his back. It wasn't strange but it wasn't something he would repeat more out of uncertainty than anything else. Her life story was something that he wanted to relate to, and he felt it was right to return the favor and show her his as well. D'mitri closed his eyes and allowed his mind to brush against hers for a brief moment as if connect. He then opened the door to his memory allowing her to see how he had been wronged in the past by humans. How he was chased away since his adulthood from every home he ever encountered. The fact that he even rescued both human children and azrein alike did nothing to save his credentials simply because of the way he looked. The brooding male was never one for revenge, however, and he kept to himself as much as possible. He showed her the others he met on his journey: a blue mare with her blind chosen, a purple winged fae who yearned for a family, and of course a sinister spiked azrein who attempted to bond with him on some level.
Once his eyes opened, D'mitri gave a brief shiver allowing his mind to recede from hers. It was a strange feeling to do that, and he was never used to it. However it was still something he wanted to share with her. She had been so open to him that there was nothing else he could do... However at the mention of a hunt, he grew excited. D'mitri's blood began to boil as he nodded vigorously. It had been ages since he went hunting and he was quite curious to learn about her and her own styles. He wondered what kind of prey she liked and what sort of predator she was. The stallion flicked his ears forward. "Forest? Can scout ahead if...Kessling wishes." He flashed another smile giving her the lead reigns on this hunt. He wanted to learn more about her.

"Ahh, you are not the only one to be wronged by humans.. thank you for sharing." She smiled at his enthusiam. "What shall we hunt? I have a feeling it takes more then a rabbit to feed you." She grinned. "Perhaps a nice deer? I haven't had elk in forever. I find them a nice challenge. They do have that sweet smoky taste, unlike all others." Kessling's eyes brightened at the thought. "Scouting would be helpful. And i would love to see you fly. Then I will be able to easily reach the target herd and help from the ground." She had already started salivating. Mmmm Elk.
"Once I know where I am going I am pretty descent at keeping my way straight."

D'mitri gave a brief snort simply nodding toward her. It was gladdening at the least to hear that she understood his plight and how he had felt during that time. A refreshing find to be able to connect with a stranger....well she wasn't exactly going to be a stranger for much longer. She had proven that she was one of the night and was willing to partake in a hunt with him. For the most part, he would consider her more like a hunting partner which would probably be closer than anything he has had. "Agreed. Elk filling. I will go." The male turned his body immediately fanning out his leathery wings to take flight. "Feast on elk, you and I." He flashed a devilish smile at the prospective thought quite excited to dine with her. The stallion pumped his wings as he sprinted forward quickly, a surge of wind rushing behind him. It didn't take too long for his large form to take flight into the air, the cool breeze whipping at his mane. He circled above her for a moment allowing her to get a good look at his shape before he lazily turned and shot forward toward the treeline. D'mitri kept high so as to not spook his prey as he stared down toward the forests in an attempt to find them out. His pace was slow allowing Kessling to see him as he traveled.
It took longer than expected, but his green eyes managed to catch movement. It seemed as though there was a small group of their chosen quarry not too terribly far. Instead of going in for the brutish kill, however, D'mitri simply rose higher in the sky and circled wide lazy circles as if to signal Kessling of their location. Once he figured she got it, he flew away as to not spook the deer into thinking they were being marked. He landed a short feet away in a small clearing en route to the prey hoping to run into Kessling before she passed.

Kessling got quite the show of him taking off. All his muscles worked to get the heavy frame airborn. And if he was graceful on land, he was even more so in air. The delicate membrane of his wings seemed to be made of stronger stuff then it looked. It had to be to hold up the sinew muscle and bone. And that smile! It was so ...predatory, which just served to make her tingle and her own instincts were awakened. His presentation to her did not escape her either. She smiled softly. OW! Darn fangs.....
She watched him fly and it wasn't long until he started circling...like...well like a buzzard. However that was the true age old way of saying ITS HERE. And that is exactly what she took it for. She started off into the forest. Her dark shape melded with the shadows and only the fall of her mane was distinctly discernable among the foliage. She kinda wished he had held back a bit after finding their meal so they could go together.
She burst into his clearing and was pleasantly surprised to see him there already. "Oh good! Now we can hunt together." she grinned fangedly at him. She could feel the blood lust scratching at her throat. Soon it would be much worse. It has been a while since her last hunt. She knew he could now see it in her eyes. The magnetic pull was there and strong and it drew her unerringly along the distant scent of the elk. "We must go before they move on." She rasped out.

He was breathless as she barreled through the brush. His ears flicked forward watching her voracious appetite for the hunt.He nodded with a fervor as she exclaimed her own excitement about their hunt. D'mitri gave a bit of a snort turning quickly and heading to the direction, his wings clutched as close to his body as he could without cramping. His green eyes shone with intensity as he maneuvered through the brush.
The elk were in close view now. It was a small herd of doe and young. His eyes immediately scanned the pickings wondering which one to hunt. D'mitri looked over through the brush toward Kessling then back to the group. Whichever one the mare would pick, D'mitri would attack with a ferocity unknown to some. His ears flicked forward as he listened trying to keep as still as possible, his skin quivering with excitement, nostrils flaring. "Kesss..." D'mitri whispered looking over to her. "I hunt what Kessling desires.." The male grunted making it known that he was hers to command.

"That doe there, she has no fawn, so we would not be taking two lives. That is who we want." She whispered as quietly as she could. Her hair felt as though it were standing on end. Elk were a delicacy she didn't often hunt on her own but D'mitri was definately big enough to take even one of the bulls on. She smiled at him. "Watch the wind it might change then we might miss."
Her eyes never left the target. Not too old not too young and like she had said no fawn. Where the bull was for this herd she didn't know. Probably off gallivanting with another doe.

D'mitri gave a brisk nod and began to slowly stalk forward. He eyed that doe carefully making mental remarks of how good of a choice she had made. His nostrils flared as he psyched himself up for the rush. He pulled forward into the herd nonchalantly as if he was a simple herbivore. The stallion faked grazed as he moved a little closer keeping his wings close and high on his back as he came closer and closer to his target. It was only when he heard a sound to the left of him that he became distracted.
The bull hit him square in the flank with part of his massive horns. It was a wonder that the buck could sneak up on him let, but at least the beast missed his wings. The stallion had never known such pain and for him to not have seen that buck was stupid on his part. His green eyes looked over toward the male as the buck dug further into his hindquarters. D'mitri snorted feeling the pain shoot through his body like a massive missile. As the buck pulled back, D'mitri could feel his flesh tear and give in response to the beating of the animal. The stallion wheeled around and widened his wings to give him leverage as he charged baring teeth. He reared as did the buck, the two males colliding in a mass of hooves, horns, and snapping teeth. It was a wonder that this animal was aggressive... Unless it was mating season. Or that this buck had seen him before. This wasn't the first time that D'mitri had hunted deer, and he probably had crossed this animal before. It was dumb of him on his part not to have paid attention.
But as long as Kessling wasn't hurt that's all that mattered to him.

Kessling watched the action. Huh where had that brute come from... She glanced at the rest of the herd and the intended target. They had quickly ran to the other edge of the clearing. Huh, so much for that idea. Kessling was not one to sit and wait. If D'mitri could tire the buck. She could finish it. She glanced worriedly at Demi's flank. Blood had started to run freely down his powerful hind legs. The scent drifted over to her tantalizing but different. It showed that his diet truly was meat as he was less attractive to her as a meal.
Kessling watched the buck intently. He was starting to wear down, as well he might as big as his opponent was. Soon she could get in there.
