Falcron Camoth

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Falcron returned to his trip to collect supplies, his surprise guest seemingly disappeared on him so suddenly that he had to wonder if he had even crossed a talking serpent to begin with, nothing was impossible, but he had to wonder what had happened to her, if anything she had peeked his interest in her problem though before he could begin his search for what she sought after she was simply gone. Back on track through the forest, he picked up his pace as he had far to go and he wanted to at least get to the halfway point before it got too late and the nightlife of the forest started roaming about, as he knew that he would be slowed down greatly when that happened. As Falcron walked he started humming a gentle tune which he usually did while he was walking to the port city, since his path was soon to be marred by the dangers of the forest as the days end drew closer he would have to be careful once it got dark, after which he would be moving slower but more precise and quieter since he didn’t want to attract any unnecessary attention if he could avoid it. As he walked he kept his bow in hand, ever ready to use it should the need arrive that he needed to use it.

Up ahead of his path, a female was wandering slowly while looking up at the forest canopy instead of where she was going. She blinked eyes the color of molten gold as she moved slowly, finding the colors of the sun setting through the canopy to be very beautiful and fairly striking. Her waist-length red hair was loose but held back from her face and ears by a clip made of beautifully carved bone. Her ears weren't fully pointed as most Elves were these days and most people called her a halfbreed because of it. She just gave them a small smile and moved on without saying anything.

She was so intent on the canopy that she didn't see her foot land between two tree roots and as she turned, the snap of bones breaking was very audible in the relative silence of the forest. As was her sharp gasp of pain as she put her weight on her other foot and tried to figure out how she'd managed this one...

It was obvious that it wasn't her first broken bone. She didn't panic, she didn't jerk around, she didn't fall down in tears and have a breakdown over it. She simply put one hand against the tree and tried to figure out how to get her foot out from between the roots while trying to breathe slowly through the pain.

This was one of the few reasons she hadn't been allowed out of the King's Castle before now. And why she'd resorted to sneaking out... Unlike most Elves, Aylarra was a little bit of a klutz when she was distracted...

Falcron Camoth

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Falcron moved gingerly as the evening moved ever closer, he had long since stopped humming his bow at the ready with an arrow notched his eyes scanning the area as he moved quietly and swiftly. He was still very far from the halfway point and he had already started to hear the cries of a few of the predatory animals that lurked the forest at night. Without warning Falcron stopped when he heard a noise which appeared to be something breaking, quite unusual to say the least, he knelt down and looked around uncertain from where that had come from, though it came clearer when he heard someone gasp which allowed him to dart off in that direction, which so happened to be some distance away from him further down the trail he was on, it was a bit of a surprise for him since rarely anyone traveled these paths unless they were coming to see him, but last he knew anyone who knew where he lived knew to stay out of the deep forest where he lived without an escort due to how dangerous that area was, or at least sending word that they were coming so that he could meet them and guide them in. there were few who would go into the deep forest without an escort and he knew they weren’t bound to show up since they had no reason to call upon a retired Royal guard like himself.

Moving forward slightly faster still doing his best to keep quiet he moved with a purpose as he moved down the trail and eventually caught sight of someone who appeared to be caught by something and sighed slightly as he glanced around and hoped nothing was close enough to hear, and just moved quickly towards the person not quite sure who it was since the light was nearly faded. As he moved closer something caught his attention and he stopped in his tracks immediately and turned his gaze towards the movement, and saw a good-sized shadow skulking towards the person sighing he knew something large was on the move to attack and rushed forward in a full sprint “WATCH OUT!” yelled Falcron as the tip of the arrow ignited into a ball of fire and let the arrow fly well past the shadow landing in between the person and the large beast that had come out in search of prey, the beast roared aggressively as the fire on the arrow erupted into a wall of fire blocking the beast from getting to the person. Pulling out three arrows he kept to ready as he unleashed another arrow though directly at the beast and hit true, causing it to roar again and turn to face him, before it charged at him, Falcron let lose two more arrows before dodging the stampeding beast and regretting not bringing Celeste with him, since he was dealing with a forest Grim, he’d only ever encountered them in the deep forest and few knew about them since he pretty much-handled anything that went on in the enchanted forest, after he moved there.

With a serious expression on his face, he knew he was up for a tough fight since he wasn’t equipped to handle one, which meant like it or not he was going to have to use magic to fight this one if he had any hope of dealing with the massive beast. Drawing an arrow, he notched it before he knelt down in took aim “the fire and darkness within I call upon you to lend me your strength.” Said Falcron as he started channeling his magic into the arrow, the arrow glowed with darkness as the tip of the arrow ignited into fire, the arrow taking on the form of both a bolt and a fireball and blending instantly. Without delay released the arrow which flew with great swiftness hitting the grim in the chest immediately exploding with dark and fire energy causing the Grim to back off slightly before it charged at Falcron. Dropping the bow he brought his hands up and immediately started unleashing attacks of dark bolts and fireballs in rapid succession into the stampeding Grim, Falcron was relentless in his attack as the beast neared him dodging at the last moment but not before he dropped a novus bomb which immediately exploded when the beast was on top of it which erupted in both darkness and flame magic completely engulfing it, the cries of the beast could be heard as it retreated back into the woods, and left them in peace. Dropping to a knee Falcron was breathing heavily after having expended so much magical energy so fast, ordinarily, when he did so he would be wearing his armor and utilizing celeste which did help lessen the effects of fatigue but he wasn’t and he took on the full brunt of the effects. Slowly catching his breathe he walked over and grabbed his bow before he walked over to the person who appeared to be a woman “don’t you know it isn’t safe to be wandering around the enchanted forest at this time?” Falcron was slightly annoyed someone had been foolish to walk into the woods and didn’t immediately recognize the person who was clearly caught by a couple of roots of which the foot caught seemed to be swelling from being broken, so he stepped over noting that it was a woman and simply drew his sword and started cutting through the roots just enough to allow her to get her foot free.

Aylarra shook her head as he got her foot loose then landed on her butt as she worked at keeping her breathing controlled to keep the pain controlled. She'd kept her head during the fight and stayed still and quiet so that she wouldn't distract her rescuer or attract the Grim.

She shook her head again as she put a hand above the break in her leg and focused her golden eyes on his face, "The Enchanted forest is supposed to be safe. It's the Dark forest that's supposed to be dangerous. The Grim isn't supposed to be here, it's supposed to be deep in the heart of the Dark forest. This one is supposed to be safe. That's the way it was created. I need to figure out what's gone wrong and fix it," she said with a few gasps of pain.

Her eyes would likely tell him why she was out here as she was. The Golden-Eyed Elves were the Elven race that had created the Elven Realm and everything in it. Wren, the Guardian of the King's Castle and Captain of the King's Guard, was one of the oldest members of their race. Aylarra's eyes marked her as one of them. Of course, up until now only a few of them were allowed out of the King's Castle...

Aylarra knew she shouldn't have snuck out but the changes to the Enchanted Forest had been bugging her ever since she'd gotten here and she finally couldn't leave it alone.

While most of the Elven races were very ethereal in their beauty, Aylarra was more like the Forest Elves that lived int he Dark Forest: Much more earthy and enchanting. Yes, she was beautiful. But it was more touchable and realistic. She was frequently mistaken as a half-breed because of her appearance. But she ignored the comments.

Right now, she just wanted to deal with her broken leg and get on with her self-appointed mission, "If you'll help me with the leg, I'll get out of your way and go on my way. I'm sorry I caused you any trouble, I really am," she continued, her musical voice a pure delight to hear despite the pain she was in. That voice was pure music on its own, but just as earthy as her beauty, carrying a slightly husky quality that many found very desirable to hear. She'd had to put down many a pass in the past just on her voice alone.

Right now, she was wearing a tunic and tights in mixed greens and browns that was cut to flatter her 'healthy' figure and help her maneuver through the forest mostly unobserved. Of course, she might have done better to wear boots instead of sandals...

It was only after he saw the woman’s eyes that Falcron realized who it was, and simply shook his head before he knelt down next to her and looked to her leg “a lot of things that didn’t used to be here started showing up for unknown reason, being a retired member of the Royal Guard I chose to settle down in the deep forest of the enchanted forest where I could find peace and quiet and commune with nature, unfortunately I don’t see the enchanted forest at night, which is when things like that Grim show up.” Falcron shook his head again while he attempted to tend to the break, and continued “truthfully, a Spellslinger like myself would have been the best choice to handle this situation had I still been under Wren’s command. Unfortunately, it was simply time for me to step down and live in peace with the world around me.” Falcron bowed his head slightly before he brought his eyes up to meet hers “and I would imagine you would be scolded severely for even walking into these woods without understanding the full situation, much less without an escort from a member of the Royal Guard. And as for your leg, I’m afraid you are going to be feeling it a while, I will assist you as best I can and get you someplace safe, where I can tend to your injury properly.” Falcron paused when he heard a howl off in the distance, the sun was nearly gone and he looked back at her “under normal circumstances I would work on your broken leg now but we can’t stay here any longer we aren’t safe, so you’ll have to forgive me for what I must do as I have no other way but to carry you to where I am bound for at this moment” Falcron secured his bow and wasn’t going to give her any chance to complain before he picked her up holding her in his arms and started moving quickly in the opposite direction from where she was clearly bound for, Falcron knew he could focus on her injury after he brought her to the halfway point where he tends to rest at when it gets dark. As Falcron moved, he constantly glanced over his shoulder concern starting to show as he carried her, he was moving slightly slower than he normally would since he was carrying someone who was injured, and was being considerate of that fact but that meant that he had to be more alert for danger to creek up and while the shadows following were keeping their distance, it was clear that he was sorely underequipped to deal with them in open combat, and swearing under his breath for not at least bringing Celeste with him on this trip but he hadn't been expecting anyone to come into the forest, "I'm afraid we may have problems along the way, as a former member of the Royal Guard I will do my best to protect you until such a time as to ensure that you are safely back at the palace, I'm afraid I am underequipped to handle the beasts that follow but I will not falter in protecting you" sighing slightly knowing full well he was going to have to utilize magic "Nuvia Disitivia" instantly arcane magic engulfed them and created an illusion of them which started running off in a different direction, all the while masking their presence, the illusion ran off at a good pace which would draw them away or at least he hoped it would and kept running forward though his pace had slowed slightly after using such an intensive spell, his breathing grew heavier as he ran, but he didn't stop to rest. As expected the group following them started chasing after the illusion which wouldn't last very long but long enough for them to get some distance between them which thankfully would allow for him to take her someplace safe and tend to her wounds.

After she was sure that the distraction had worked and they had a little more leeway, she urgently but softly told him to stop until he did it. She didn't demand to be put down or anything like that, but she had to close her eyes and concentrate and getting bounced with a broken leg while he ran wasn't helping her concentration.

As he stood in silence, she appreciated the need for that silence. But they needed a little more help to get to where she thought he was going and she was going to give that help. Another moment for him to catch his breath and she began to hum a soft tune, mouthing a few words under her breath with it.

As the 'tune' continued, she knew he'd slowly begin to feel his energy levels rise and his fatigue lessen. A few more moments and her 'tune' faded to a stop and she nodded for him to continue, knowing that they'd make it easily and safely since she'd managed to hide them as well.

That was one of her true abilities: to be unseen, or at least unnoticed. Her other was in restoring balance, which was one of the main reasons she was here.

She gave a soft sigh after a little more distance and let her head rest on his shoulder as she tried to breathe through the pain. All the jostling was making the break throb and pulse and that was also giving her a headache. But her magic would hold until they were safe.

What he didn't know was that she had no intention of going back to the castle. She was fully intending to get back on her path before dawn. If she went back, they'd never let her out of the castle again. She knew that and had no intention of being locked away again...

It wasn't long before his destination was visible. Which she was extremely grateful for...

Falcron was grateful for the boost in energy which would keep him from losing consciousness, and as they drew close to the halfway point where he could properly tend to the injury, his pace had slowed and eventually he stopped without explanation as for why he glanced around for a moment before he started walking off the path and into the woods. He walked some ways off the path before he came across a small hovel that he’d built long ago, and went inside without hesitation. Once inside he walked over to a bed and put the elf on it before he stepped away to light a fire in the pit that was centralized and knelt down before he took a small pack off and opened it, he’d been keen to carry a few things to start a fire as he knew he would eventually get here and started a fire without the use of magic as he didn’t feel the need to do so.

The fire would provide ample light and warmth for the hovel which wasn’t at all that big, it had plenty of room for a small table which was off to the side with a couple of chairs tucked under it, as well as a bed which the elf was at. Apart from that, there were a few shelves that had a few things on them though nothing in terms of food since this wasn’t a place in which to eat since he usually carried his own rations with him for the trip to the port where he did a lot of trading and buying of supplies.

Sighing slightly he stood up and went over to the shelves and pulled a few things off them before he walked over to attend the injury “we’ll be safe here, I built this little hovel to be a safe place to stay during the evening” he knelt down and placed the pouches on the bed “you’ll have to forgive me but I am not as specialized in the healing arts as a few of my former comrades are, I can tend to an injury like this but it may not be to the quality of a healers touch” at that Falcron reached over to one of the pouches and opened it taking a bit of powder out of it and rubbing his hand in it before he went about to mending the break whispering he utilized the herbal remedy he had on his hands and a bit of magic to let the healing properties of the powder soothe the pain and mend the bone, as he did so Falcron couldn’t help but speak up “ You’ll have to forgive me in that if I had been aware that you had intended to come into the enchanted forests deep areas, I would have met with you and been more prepared to accommodate your safety, but as it stands I wasn’t expecting anyone to be here and wasn’t as equipped to deal with that Grim as I usually am, but that was awfully reckless of you to come here without reading the reports coming out of these woods, being an Elf of the kings court I would imagine you had access to my reports I sent about the situation especially in the deep forest, as I understood, the king had limited how deep into the forest anyone could go in for their safety and left it for the most part in my hands to deal with containing the problem as best I could. As a former member of the Royal Guard I will protect you but for now we need to stay here, the area is not safe at night and easier to move about during the daylight, especially in the deep forest, and if you are intent on proceeding deeper then I will bring you to my home in the deep forest and apprise you of the situation as it is currently.” Falcron stopped what he was doing feeling as he had done all he could, the break would be for the most part healed though it would still be rather tender once the soothing effect wore off. Looking at the elf for a brief moment he stood up and collected the pouches not seeing any need to use what was in the other pouch, and returned them to the shelf before he grabbed a chair and moved it over to the bed and sat down. “I am Falcron Camoth, Spellslinger by trade, and a retired member of the King’s Royal Guard at your service” Falcron bowed his head slightly before he continued “If you are bound for the deep forest where that Grim and other horrors have been spotted then you’ll need my help, i know the area well, and have a rough idea as to where the problem might be though getting to it alone is… well difficult, as of yet I have been unable to penetrate to far into the area in question without being repelled by horrors that have taken up residence in that area as well as the surrounding areas, to say that it was unusual to see a Grim out as far as the one we saw is an understatement, and doesn’t bode well for the realm if they are pushing out from the deep forest.” Falcron went silent for a moment when he heard a howl, though not a grim thankfully, and stood up for a moment and went over to the door, and opened it slightly, and looked outside for a moment, certain that there was no cause for concern he closed the door and sat down and simply kept quiet.

Aylarra gave a soft sigh as the pain ebbed and gave a small nod with a soft, "thank you," for the healing. Once he said something about warning him that she was coming, she knew she had to speak up, though she hesitated to do so anyway before giving in.

She tucked a wayward red curl behind one delicately pointed ear and chewed on her lip briefly then seemed to deflate a bit as she eased herself into a sitting position on the bed, the movement pointing out how small she was in comparison to him. It wasn't hard to miss that guilty but determined look on her face, though.

"I tried to get permission and escort out here. But no one would give me either. I know I can fix what's wrong, but I have to find the source to do so. No one believed me though... So I..." she twisted her hands just slightly in a nervously-guilty gesture, "I kinda snuck out..." she admitted softly.

At least she hadn't gone out totally unprepared. She did have what appeared to be a small pack, though only an expert would be able to detect the magic that made the pack more than it appeared to be...

Falcron sighed and looked at her “that was very foolish, if I hadn’t shown up when I did you would have been killed by that Grim.” Falcron sighed again before he stood up and noted the magic aura that was coming from her pack and shaking his head slightly “well nothing that can be done now, you left now you’d likely draw that Grim out of the forest after you, so get some rest while you can we’ve got a ways to go before we reach my home from there we can collect a few things that will be needed to get close to where we need to go” Falcron glanced over to his pack and quiver and noted that he didn’t have much left for arrows, only five left. And while he still had plenty of powder that wouldn’t do much to aid them at this point, the only other thing he had was his sword, though had he known that a Grim was going to be the issue he would have brought Celeste, at least then he would have stood a better chance of combating it and putting it down before it became a major issue to their goal. Time would tell whether or not he should be concerned or not.

Aylarra had the grace to look a bit embarrassed over her rather sneaky departure from the castle, but one couldn't miss her look of determination. If he'd tried to take her back, she would have slipped him and gone on by herself anyway.

She took off her pack and released the drawstring to go digging in it. While the magic was there, not many could sense it. Something she was grateful for. But her arm going inside seemed disproportional to the size of the bag...

She pulled out a couple of apples, an enchanted quiver, and a couple of pillows complete with an extra blanket, "I'm not completely helpless, you know..." she told him softly, not really expecting him to believe her, "If I hadn't broken my leg, I would never have been seen by that Grim..." she added then turned her golden eyes up at him through her hair, "or you..." she couldn't resist that last one.

She'd seen him at the castle a couple of times before, though he'd never seen her apparently. Even though he'd nearly tripped over her once...

She stopped digging in her pack and closed it, set it aside, then tossed him one of the apples before offering him the quiver. That last one made her give a slightly sassy smile since she knew he'd have a hard time figuring out the enchantments on it...

Falcron looked at Aylarra and shook his head as he took the quiver noting that the enchantments were well beyond his understanding, couldn’t help but wonder where she got them to begin with, one thought occurred that she had accessed the armory but it was hard to say though one thought did bring him to look at her with some concern “you do realize that soon as Wren hears you snuck out again she’ll be looking for you, if she discovers I’m helping you I’ll not hear the end of it, and knowing your track record, she’s probably already aware of your disappearance, and with you having asked for escorts into the forest I’m likely to hear about it at some point” how soon was dependent on how fast Wren wanted her returned, and knowing his old Commander she’d likely come herself into the forest if she thought she could catch up or if she thought he knew of anything that would be worth her time.

Sighing he combined the arrows he had in his quiver with the ones that were enchanted making sure that they were easily recognized by touch, though admittedly that wasn’t hard since his were handmade with a level of quality that was easily recognizable. Though he groaned a little as he found himself once again unable to go to the port to collect necessities which would probably have been helpful in this situation.

Resigning to the fact that he was just going to have to make do with what he had he stepped over to the table and opened up his pack while also taking a bite out of the apple and checking his supplies, he’d had a couple of days’ worth of rations prepared for the trip as well as the kindle and the furs that he’d been intending to trade to get supplies, plus the two pouches that had the remedies he’d put together while at his home.

After a while he took the leather armor off seeing no need to keep it on at this point, under the armor was plain clothes he’d decided to wear after he was no longer required to wear formal clothing as a royal guard, though the shirt had holes in it though they mostly looked like claw marks more than anything and very obvious scars were slightly covered, it was clear he had seen more trouble in this forest than he might have otherwise let on in any report sent to the castle for Wren to view. Though if anything he’d been drawn more closer to the woods than he would have if he was still with the Royal Guard which was the point of it all, he wanted his peace and quiet though the horrors of the dark forest tended to disrupt that on more than one occasion.

Once the armor was off and on the table he sat down again and just looked at Aylarra though he didn’t say anything he simply watched and stayed alert for signs of trouble outside the hovel, but more than anything he was trying to figure out how they’d get close to region where the horrors seemingly guard without end, illusion magic only got him so far before he had been repelled by the beasts that were in the area, she was intent on going there he had to figure out how to get there in one piece lest they be repelled in similar fashion.

Aylarra finally gave him an impish grin, "The quiver didn't come from the armory. I made it. And Wren is busy with the coronation and won't miss me for at least a few days, I've only been gone half a day. I also have plenty of supplies in my bag; food, bedding, and some healing supplies. I also have my notes and a few books that no one will miss," she told him with a hint of attitude, knowing that she had him so far.

After another moment, she pulled out another set of apples, some jerky, and a bottle of Travelling Wine. That wine was meant for travel and was barely alcoholic, more energizing than anything else. It was actually something that the Golden-Eyed Elves had brought with them when Wren had brought them back.

She laid out her offering on the foot of the bed then went digging in her pack for the cup she'd packed, though it was proving to be a bit elusive and was making her frown slightly as she searched for it.

"You can keep the quiver if you like it. Thanks for helping me this far. You don't have to take me the rest of the way, you know. I can go on my own. Where I'm headed is probably not where you're thinking. It's not directly in the center of the forest. It's closer to the edge with the Dark Forest," she explained in a distracted tone, her attention not fully on him.

She finally grinned as she pulled out her cup, having selected something more durable than decorative for her trip. But it was her grin that drew the attention and made one wonder how she managed to go completely unnoticed. That grin took her from shyly-cute to the true beauty of her race.

But the cute came back when one of her curls dropped in front of her face and made her blow it out of the way with an annoyed sound. She added the cup to the offerings at the foot of the bed and pulled a clip from her waist, then made a rough attempt to pull her hair out of the way.

For some reason, her curls resisted taming no matter what she did. Thankfully, they fell in long ringlets instead of a bush on her head, but the bright red color was something not usually found among the elves in general.

Add in her golden eyes and sun-kissed skin and she should have been getting wedding offers left and right. Instead, she was still unclaimed and apparently just a bit accidentally clumsy. But she was also highly intelligent and knew she could fix the problem with the Enchanted Forest. She was determined to fix it, almost crazily so. But she did have good reason for it...

Falcron couldn’t help but chuckle at this point, she had him up until she spoke about the border and then spoke up “my dear Aylarra if the problem had indeed been in the center of the forest I’d likely be dead long before now, my home is centralized within the deep forest but it is not an area you would easily arrive to due to the nature of this forest” at this point he had a good idea as to her intent as well as her lack of knowledge on the forest itself.

the enchanted forest isn’t something that you simply walk through and expect to reach your destination without knowing where it is you are trying to reach, the forest is as living as we are and those who haven’t spent much time in this forest tend to get lost before they reach their destination. The path you’d been walking before I came to your rescue was placed there by me so that people who sought me out would easily arrive to my home without fear of getting lost.” He paused and stood up pulling a cup from a shelf behind him and placed it on the table “as for the problem you might have been more aware of the issue had you read my reports, the location you are more likely interested in is well beyond the perimeter that the horrors have erected. You’ll need my help just getting close.

before Falcron could get comfortable, a howl could be heard close by, looking towards the door he quickly snapped his finger extinguishing the fire and rushed towards the door his blade already drawn and ready. In a hushed voice he continued “what is unusual is the fact that that Grim has been persistent enough to keep hunting, it would be an understatement to say that in all my years being in this forest have I ever seen a dark forest horror or most of them to freely move between the borders or for that matter actively hunt this far out of the deep forest. I moved to this forest for life of solitude, unfortunately not long after I settled down here i started observing shadows moving around in the forest that shouldn’t have been here and before long going outside after dusk was not a good idea, during the day for the most part the more serious of horrors like the Grim and the Daedolos tend to move around at night with the latter being more closer to the border where light isn’t as bright.” He looked at Aylarra and sighed “and you want to go into that area alone, Wren would definitely have my head if I allowed you to go there alone. As for your destination I know what it is you seek as it is the only part of the forest that is well guarded. Anywhere except that part of the forest is accessible, I’ve tried approaching from within the dark forest and it is more hectic there than this side of the border, I’ve no idea what is going on but the fact that dark forest horrors are able to freely breach the border tells me that something is either attempting to destroy the enchantment which would allow the horrors to completely engulf the enchanted forest or someone is playing with things they shouldn’t, either way the issue is serious enough that Wren left me to handle it even though I’m no longer a guardsman, she felt I was still the best choice for handling it, though how I’m to achieve that I’ve yet to discover as I said before the area in question is well guarded and the large horrors aren’t even the biggest problem for the perimeter, the small ones are present as well.” Falcron stopped when he heard another howl much closer than before he hoped that the beast hadn’t picked up on their trail to the hovel otherwise things were going to be difficult, he didn’t have Celeste which would have been critical to fighting the Grim but with a plain sword and…. Falcron looked at the quiver with enchantments and rushed over to it and pulled an arrow from it, sheathing his sword he grabbed his bow and notched the arrow, and prepared to fire it with a few spells attached to it.

As time went on things were quiet and eventually Falcron sighed lightly knowing well that the immediate threat had passed on, he looked at the firepit in the center and thankfully there were a couple of smolders still hot to which he simply spoke a few words to bring the fire ablaze again. Once the room was lit again he looked at Aylarra with relief “regardless of your intent I’ll help you through it, but before we head that way we’ll have to stop by my home for a few things as well as make sure that you are fit to walk that far out, plus it would give you an opportunity to look through the maps I’ve made throughout the years of the area as it has… changed.” He sat back down though the bow was close by and the arrow returned to the quiver for the time being.

Aylarra went quiet as the Grim came back and sniffed around, though her golden eyes got huge when he notched an arrow, followed by a heavy sigh when he didn't use it yet, "Don't add any spells to the arrows until you get used to them, please. While the quiver will never run out of arrows, it supplies the spells you already need when you pull one to use it," she explained to him, "Adding more spells will either cancel the effect or amplify it beyond necessity," she finished, hoping he'd understand and not blow them up by accident.

She finally relaxed a bit once he got the fire lit again and finally started to show a hint of tiredness as she shook her head slightly at his offer again, "Wren knows why I need to do this. She said she just wanted to give you the retirement you'd told her you wanted instead of writing to you about me. She just couldn't find any other guards willing to escort me," she pointed out to him, knowing that she was completely honest with her words. She was just leaving alot more out....

She slid down on the bed a bit and tucked one of the pillows under her head as she scooted her back up against the wall and rubbed her eyes a bit, "No matter what, I have to do this. You may not understand why, I may not even tell you why, but I have to do it..." she added softly, her eyes not really on him at this point, but fixed on a memory instead. She had a different expression on her face as well: the determination was there, of course, but there was something else... the look of an old promise or of someone bound by an honored-word given...

There was alot that she wasn't telling him just yet. But even he couldn't deny that she was beyond determined to do this task of hers. Although, looking at her, one had to wonder if she could pull it off...

Sighing Falcron simply nodded, he suspected that there was more to that than she was telling him but chose to leave it be, he did find it odd that it had been to easy for him to be able to retire, something that if he didn’t hear about from Aylarra he’d likely hear it from Wren herself since she had graced him with a visit or two in the past otherwise once he eventually brought Aylarra home he’d have to have a chat with her about that, he knew it was time to step down but he also had known that there was some that had resisted the idea of him stepping down considering how much he knew along with his specific set of skills which to a lot made him an invaluable tool to utilize, but a predictable one since he couldn’t utilize magic completely due to how much it drained him. a sad side effect of his training, one he had to live with.

As Aylarra got comfortable he could tell she wouldn’t be awake much longer and simply looked at the quiver she had given him, it added enchantments to the arrow as drawn a handy feature to say the least but the warning she gave him left him shaking his head, only she would have something that volatile but it also gave him options, it meant that he didn’t have to exclusively utilize his magic but also if he needed to he could overload an arrow for a more dangerous effect, but it also meant that when he channeled something from his own magic he would need to fire it since it would likely not remain stable for very long before it had a devastating affect on everything around the impact point. Something he would have to be careful of to say the least since he didn’t particularly want to destroy the forest he called home.

Standing up he check the sheathe tucked comfortably into his lower back, his short sword was such that he could keep it there and draw it like a knife when situations called for it or normally when things didn’t require him to swiftly cut someone down, he’d also step by the door and make sure it was secure before he got comfortable, with someone as important as Aylarra with him he couldn’t really afford to rest especially since there was a Grim still running around out there and any other horrors that might lurking, if anything he felt like he was still a member of the Royal guard on the ready for any signs of trouble though to a degree he was, but that was something that couldn’t be helped right now. Sitting down at the table he glanced over to the fire pit and watched the fire dim slightly as he willed the fire to calm using magic. The Hovel wouldn’t likely be that easy to find considering how well he built it and the materials he used which really made it look more like overgrown vegetation than an actual place to stay in.

As time would go on he would not be really looking at anywhere in particular more listening for signs of movement but also humming a gentle tune he would frequently hum when he was on guard duty especially at night, if anything it kept his mind clear of distractions but also gave off a false impression that he wasn’t paying attention which often got the better of some who’d crossed him, though he seemed to remember Wren giving him hell for the humming but even she couldn’t deny the results he got by doing it, and eventually no one bothered him about it.
