Well they had managed to do it, somehow they had managed to gain control of a wing. Plexith was incredibly pleased with himself - in fact D'lin was fairly certain that his bronze was already plotting their next move. And even though the bronze hadn't really had all that much to do with the speech and winning the wing D'lin let him go on about how amazingly awesome great he was and how he'd helped his win because really...it was far to much trouble to try and get him to quit. He's stop on his own..eventually...hopefully. In the meantime D'lin had turned his attention to organizing his wing with S'kor's help - thank everything that he'd gotten a nice sensible second with a nice sensible bronze to back him up - had managed to not only organize them into a semblance of order but also arrange this little meet and greet so that they could get get to know one another and lay out the practice schedule. To that end they had appropriated one of the Weyr's outlaying buildings as their new Wing Headquarters, arranging for table's, chairs, some writing slates and of course refreshments to be delivered and set up in time for this meeting. Arriving at the building D'lin found himself pleased with the results. Now he just had to wait for the rest of his wing to arrive. 'It looks good mine, but we need to come up with a symbol - and did you have to choose such a drab color ? You should have picked bronze..like my hide...' Plexith suddenly spoke up and with a start D'lin realized that the beast had snuck down here to peer in one of the building's window, taking up the entire thing with one whirling critical eye. 'I thought you were sleeping at the Weyr..' D'lin commented with a slight sigh. Really he shouldn't be surprised and there seemed no point in arguing with the Dragon's comments..besides maybe they would come up with some sort of symbol, maybe he'd have it sown onto a patch hand handed out....now he was getting as vain as his dragon a thought which elicited another sigh. 'I woke up' Plexith stated by way of explanation 'Should I order everyone to come now? Those Crimsons and Browns will probably be late - you know how lazy they can be' 'No, I told everyone when to be here, we're just early I"m sure they'll show up soon...and hte browns and Crimsons are not lazy. I don't know why you are always so critical of them' D'lin went on. 'you'll see' The bronze replied with a slight huff, as though that explained everything. Gale Stalkers Roster

The new Wingsecond tugged his new vest down to settle it across his shoulders. In the back of his mind, he could hear Scarath rumble approval. The choice of the Weyr had touched him; while he had entered for the position, S'kor hadn't felt more than a slight chance at actually winning. On top of that was who had gotten Wingleader. He felt D'lin and himself worked very well together. This wing would work.
You look dashing Mine. Gather Aona and we will arrive in good time. D'lin and Plexith are already waiting. The bronze waited by his wallow for his rider. S'kor chuckled and whistled for the gold flit. When she came and obediently settled onto his shoulder he patted her head. "Lets go mingle and be sociable." A smile quirked his lips. He knew of someone who would be right at home in this. With a practiced vault he landed across the wide shoulders of his dragon; hanging on for the short hop over to the meeting place.
Leaving Scarath to settle himself outside, S'kor nodded to Plexith in passing. "Morning Plexith." Once inside he made beeline for D'lin. "Wingleader." Aona chirped her own greeting.

Optheli could barely contain her excitement when the list of the new wing arrived. Her brother had done it! She couldn't wait to tell their father and the caravan. It felt as if her feet could walk among the clouds without Dynith's help. As it was only the heavy platter she carried was keeping her to a sensible walk. She glanced back at the several drudges also carrying trays of food.
"Don't drop anything now." When she heard that D'lin had ordered snacks, the greenrider had gone to check on them. What she found had dismayed her and she took immediate control of the preparations. It wouldn't be the first time she'd cooked for a large group! Optheli was determined to see her wing well taken care of.
So, laden with platters, she arrived at the meeting place. An bright smile crossed her face as she saw the men. "Morning D'lin and S'kor, I mean Wingleader and Second." Optheli lead the drudges over to the tables to set out the food. She could see S'kor's eyebrow raise as he caught whiff of one of his favorite dishes. A small giggle was duly masked. Too bad she didn't know what D'lin liked; well in due time.

F'ren took his time getting his new Wingrider garb sorted, he made sure it was smoothed out before he even put it on, plucking at the sleeve slightly nervously. Toulonth had been slightly off lately and he suspected she was getting a little proddy, not the best time for it but he would deal with it as the problem arose. He knew Toulonth kept it to herself and no amount of prodding from him would give him any hints. He'd given himself plenty of time to get ready and not be late to the gathering.
He hopped onto Toulonth from their weyr, she glided down gracefully and let F'ren dismount before giving the Bronzes a strange sort of rumbling greeting. Yep... definitely proddy, especially the way she was craning her neck to look at her 'favourite' Bronze. F'ren smiled at the way Toulonth liked to admire Scarath, he and S'kor had been bunkmates as Weyrlings and Toulonth had gotten fond of the well mannered Bronze from then on. He walked to the meeting place from where Toulonth had left him. The Green having already taken off to settle between the Bronzes, flaring her wings just a little.
F'ren winced as Zevra shot out of nowhere, followed by his newest aquisition, a Crimson he'd named Ashka and the two flits landed on his shoulders. Damn.. he'd forgotten to pad the shoulders out. He'd bartered for the egg he'd hoped contained a Gold, at the very least a bronze but he wasn't disappointed in hit flit. The fact he'd raised two atypical flits gave him a pleasant feeling inside as they were the hardest to keep alive after hatching.
Striding forwards he smiled and greeted the two bronzeriders, it was proper that the Wingleader and his Wingsecond were here already. "Wingleader D'lin, Wingsecond S'kor, F'ren of Green Toulonth all present and accounted for" he said with a slight smirk as he looked between them before he covered it "I apologise.... Toulonth appears to be a little proddy and seems to be flirting with your dragons" he said, inclining his head towards his beloved Toulonth, where she was lightly crooning to the two bronzes, not something she normally did.. maybe she was closer to Rising than he'd thought.
He turned at the sound of a female voice greeting the two bronzeriders. "Ah! Optheli ... a female influence finally... maybe keep your beauty from getting between Toulonth and the boys if you can" he said, reaching for her hand and giving it the smallest of kisses before letting it go with a smile.

Are you ready, Cetalesemine? Halith asked, and Ceta could feel her Green dancing impatiently outside. This was a new experience for her, being assigned to a wing, and she was intensely interested to see what her role in this "meet and greet" was to be. Ceta hadn't had the heart to tell her that it was mostly for the riders; at least practices meant she would have something to do, although Ceta had to dread those sheerly for the safety of others. Maybe the additional practices would give Halith some discipline before they ended up really flying Thread.
Yes, yes. I'm all set. She straightened her shirt, ran her hands over her hair one last time, and then looked over at Daine. The little Green flit was watching her with her head cocked, and Ceta whistled the "perch" signal to her. It had taken a while, but for some reason the thought of having whistled signals that she and her firelizard understood had tickled her fancy. A few nights short of sleep, a few trials during the day, and Daine had proved to be a quick study.
Daine immediately rose from her place on the desk and flew over to perch on Ceta's shoulder, projecting curiosity to her owner. Ceta stroked her throat as she left her weyr and mounted Halith without straps. Riding straps weren't really necessary for the short glide to the other side of the weyr, but as she approached she silently questioned whether it would make her seem... to her new Wingleader or Wingsecond. No, there were no riders in sight, meaning they were inside and were unlikely to see or judge her lack of proper gear. Besides, this wasn't as formal as she was making it out to be in her own mind and she already knew both of the men she would be serving under. D'lin wouldn't fault her for that-- she thought.
It's a shame Eliza got placed in another wing, Cetalese thought when she saw Toulonth cozying up with the Bronzes. She and Eliza were still close, as were their dragons, and it was sad to have to separate from her after all of this time. As Candidates and Weyrlings they had been together, but it seemed like they both had different roles to play, at least for now.
She slid off of Halith, Daine easily keeping her seat, and patted Halith on the leg. Why don't you greet Plexith while I go inside? She eyed the Green that was sidled up to them, recognizing the signs of either a territorial, flirtatious Green or a proddy one. But do it from over here.
That's strange, Cetalesemine. ... But all right! Halith immediately straightened up, her head swinging away from her rider to point toward Plexith. Hello, Plexith and Scarath! We are here!
Cetalese left her Green to it and entered the building that had been designated for the meeting. The first thing to hit her as she entered was the smell of assorted foods and her stomach rumbled faintly. She ignored it, choosing instead to let herself take a moment to observe the room and those who were already present.

S'kiro made his way to the meeting. Though for the most part he had to walk, Neptanth had found a decent spot to laze about and didn't feel like moving. I can hear fine from here. You will tell me all the important stuff. Looking back, he could make out a couple of smaller blue spots moving around the dragon. For some reason they took a liking to the same color in their cousin, but only with Neptanth. His steps quickened as the thought of being late kicked in. That wouldn't look good for the first meeting.
Before entering, S'kiro did a quick dust off of his new Wingrider clothes. Well he couldn't help it that he was still enjoying the new life being brought onto Pern, weather animal or human. Though lately it seemed he wasn't getting to see as much. Practices with His were taking some time away from the newborns. He smiled at the thought and didn't have much regret missing so much. Nodding as he spotted some of his fellow Wingriders, the teen rider looked for familiar faces.

J'nes checked once more that his clothes were neat as he readied for the meeting of his new wing. After that unexpected Fall that resulted in the tragic death of so many good Wingleaders and -seconds, all the wings had been shuffled around to accommodate newly promoted riders. Today he'd be meeting his new wingmates for the first time, and he wanted to make a good impression. Likely most of them knew him already, at least in passing, but a chance for a good impression never hurt.
"Time to get going!" he called to Hatteth as he exited his weyr. His brown was ready and waiting, quite willing to see who he'd be working with. A quick leap into the riding straps and a short flight later, and they were at the building that had been designated the Wing Headquarters. J'nes looked it over as he approached and noted that it was a bit plain looking, It could use something to add a little flare, to indicate that it was the Wing's. Maybe something in the Wing color? Hmm...
He entered the building and noticed several riders and food were already present. And, naturally, so were the Wingleader and Wingsecond. He headed over to them first thing to greet them. "Hello Wingleader D'lin and Wingsecond S'kor. Congratulations on your promotions, and I look forward to working under you. Nice choice of Wing name too, Gale Stalkers sounds rather impressive." His previous train of thought caught up with him and his face brightened slightly as a thought occurred. "This place could use a little something for decoration, don't you think? I'm Weavercraft by trade, and I could get you some good cloth in the Wing color if you would like a flag or banner of some sort."
Outside, Hatteth settled down near the other dragons and greeted Plexith and Scarath. He turned a slightly interested eye on the crooning Toulonth, but wasn't too concerned. He had his Hyweth after all, and he could never help feeling just a little bit smug at the thought.

S'kor was waiting easily beside D'lin when Optheli showed up. His lips twitched as he noted the food platters she'd brought. Just like her to see everyone well fed. The smell of one of his favorite dishes as she passed made his eyebrow arch up. He made a note that she'd probably was a celebratory party when the caravan arrived again. You deserve it Mine. The good-humored bronze thoroughly seconded such a party. Perhaps you could save me some tidbits should the wing leave any. Scarath was not above leftovers. He wasn't sure he'd tried Optheli's cooking either.
The rider snorted. Oh alright. Not like you need any. Just don't try to come inside to get them. He heard Scarath crooning outside. "Thanks for the refreshments Optheli. They look good and Scarath wants to try them." When F'ren showed up, S'kor nodded pleasantly enough to him. "Welcome F'ren. Glad you could make it." He glanced toward the window showing the green and bronzes. "Dragons will be dragons." A slight frown crossed his face as the greenrider flirted with Optheli.
S'kor turned his attention to the new arrivals. He nodded a greeting to Cetalese and S'kiro. They would come up in due time he was sure. His attention shifted J'nes as he approached. "Welcome to the wing J'nes. Thank you, we look forward to doing our best." He nodded at the mention of the wing's name. "Glad you approve. You're right, the place is a bit bare right now. A banner would be a good start. I'll speak with D'lin about it later and see what we can come up with. If you've some ideas, sketch them out and submit them to him or myself."
He nodded, pleased that someone was thinking of the wing and how to bring them together as a whole.
Scarath crooned a greeting as the green joined himself and Plexith. Hello Toulonth. You are looking well. His eyes whirled a blue-green as the green posed. Greetings Halith. Welcome to the wing. Hello Hatteth. The bronze greeted those arriving in turn.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Optheli got the food set out to her liking, so people could easily browse what they wanted. She joined the gathering riders with a grin. "F'ren! It's so good to see you. Happy to be in the Gale Stalkers? How is Toulonth doing?" She giggled and flushed just slightly pink as he kissed her hand. "Silly there will be other female riders around. Oh, is she...?" She arched her brow. Dynith needed to have another flight too.
Seeing a larger number of riders now present, Optheli waved a hand over her head for attention. "There's refreshments, wine, and klah. Help yourself whenever you're ready." She smiled.
D'lin had been pleased when S'kor had been the first to show up, but he hadn't really expected anything less, he and S'kor had worked well together in the past and D'lin didn't see any reason that it would change now. "S'kor" He greeted the other and then before he had the chance to do much more then that others were arriving. Optheli seemed to have taken over the food organization and for that D'lin gave her a grateful smile - organizing feasts was not something he had any sort of experience doing.
"D'lin is fine" He told her with a slight laugh "Today is a fairly informal meeting just to get to know one another" Though most of the riders ought to know each other at least by sight. Still many of them had never flown together before and so a bit of relaxed bonding before hand had seemed like a good idea. "Whatever you've brought smells delicious" He went on, peeking at the dishes before being distracted by a flash of irritation from Plexith, a quick investigation revealed the source. 'you can't be jealous over every female who doesn't prefer you' He bespoke the bronze in mild chastisement.
'yes well she is only a green' The bronze responded in a haughty tone though D'lin got the feeling his overly competitive bronze was outside flaring his wings anyways to show off just how good looking and fit he was. 'Plexith...' D'lin warned at just about the time F'ren came forward to talk.
"I've noticed" D'lin remarked with a long suffering look out the nearest window "But as S'kor says...dragons will be dragons, even if some of them are insufferable bronze's" He added though his tone was far from irritated and a fondness shone through despite his words.
Whatever wounded pride Plextih had however was soothed somewhat by the arrival of Halith, she greeted him first and Plexith had obviously chosen to take that as a sign of favoritism, crooning a pleased welcome to the other green and shifting a bit as to invite her come and settle next to him. Scarath could have his green..Plexith would claim another - even if it was the hyper and young Halith. Inside the building D'lin seriously considered drowning himself in the soup but offered Ceta a wan smile instead.
The next two to arrive were rider's D'lin only knew by sight and he gave them each a welcoming nod. He'd have to make sure to go over and introduce himself to them as soon as he got the chance. But one of them came over and D'lin smiled "Thank you and yes, Plexith was saying the place looked a bit drab, I guess we should come up with some sort of wing symbol"
At Plexith's return greeting, Halith half-pranced over to him, only to hesitate as she remembered Cetalese's instructions not to get too close. Oh well. Plexith had invited her, after all. She wouldn't be doing anything bad by joining him, especially since Toulonth was ignoring him. She pranced the rest of the way and took up residence on the side of Plexith not next to Toulonth. See? She was still listening to Cetalese and visiting.
When do we begin to practice? Will we have to wait for Toulonth to finish coercing Scarath to Fly her before we do something?
Inside, Cetalese moved out of the way of the door when she heard people behind her and finished her inspection by letting her eyes rest on and study D'lin. When D'lin finally caught her eye and cast a wan smile her way, one full of the weariness and stresses invoked by his dragon and responsibilities, Ceta replied to it with a quiet, warm smile of her own. She understood the stress he must be feeling. The look also went a long way toward confirming to Cetalese that D'lin was still her friend, beyond being her wingleader. She would support him and help him in whatever way she could. As far as riders at the weyr went, he was likely the second closest to her, next only to Eliza.
Cetalese easily made her way around the few people there, offering nods to those who caught her eye, and ended up taking up residence by the food tables. There really were some appetizing selections here.
N'var had spent some time deep in thought on whether it was wise or not to fly down with Novath. On the one hand his temper had improved marginally since they had become a pair, and it might be wise in case D'lin had thought to run through some practice immediately. However, on the other hand, Novath's temper was still sharp, and if there was to be no practice, it was a bad mixture to be sure. He had spent so much time on it that it seemed too long apparently. With a start he jumped to his feet and scribbled a quick note, sending it away with Kaistern before scrambling to his familiar perch upon Novath. What possessed you not to remind me of the time? He could hear a rumble of smug laughter in the blue's response. Its what you deserve for even considering leaving me behind. He groaned and rubbed at the back of his own neck. He supposed that Novath had a point, but it wouldn't look good to be so late to the first wing-meeting.
Glancing around he felt a bit better at seeing the number of dragons present. Either most of the wing had left their bonded behind, or -as he fervently hoped- he wasn't as late as he had feared. Seeing the flirty green brought a brief smile to his face before he turned to Novath as he slipped to the ground. Mind you watch out for her. I don't need any trouble coming from a proddy green and her rider and any hopefuls for the flight feeling like we're stepping on toes. You have nothing to worry about mine. I have no interest in silly greens. Or even of flying one. Oh? Think you might be gold material then? Was there ever any doubt? N'var simply shook his head and laughed as he made his way inside.
Looking around he sighed with a bit of relief. At the very least he wasn't the last to arrive. He picked his way across the room and smiled warmly at D'lin and S'kor. "Hello Wingleader and Wingsecond. And congratulations. I hope I'm not too late!" Seeing Optheli he made a note to catch her a bit later. He had been meaning to thank her for a long while now for being so kind to his sister.
Feeling a nudge in his mind, S'kiro made his way to greet his wingleader and second. They were really no different then other he knew, just more responsibilities. "Congratulations, Wingleader and Wingsecond. I am S'kiro of Blue Neptanth." He went to raise his hand in greetings, but noticed the smudge of dirt from what all he was doing before leaving.
S'kor knew the wing would have to start practicing together as soon as possible. That was for tomorrow though. He nodded to D'lin, then gave a wink to his sister. "Settling in alright D'lin? Should be a good party." He gave a long look at F'ren then gave a quick nod of acknowledgement. The greenrider was going to be watched by coal grey eyes.
He turned to greet N'var with a firm handshake. "Good to have you here. Thank you, and not at all. It's more a party so everyone can get to know each other a bit better. Optheli made sure the refreshments were impeccable."
"Greetings S'kiro." S'kor accepted the hand, dirt and all. "Please to have you here. If you need anything be sure to let me or D'lin know." He was sure to include both riders.
Scarath watched Halith joined the group on Plexith's other side. The bronze rumbled amusement. We are not practicing today Halith. Ours will fly better together after they have gotten to know each other.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Optheli giggled and flashed a grin at D'lin. "Alright D'lin it is. I figured as much and made sure there was suitable foods." She nodded pleased by his compliment. "A pleasure, and I hope it's as good as it smells. Be sure to help yourself before it's all gone." Her eyes twinkled mischievously. "I'd be happy to help oversee any other food preparations for parties like this."
"Don't worry S'kor. I'll be sure to take some out to him." Knowing her brother's dragon and his fancy for human food, she'd saved a couple samples out for him. Optheli moved politely aside as other riders made their way up to greet the pair. She grinned openly at everyone, thoroughly enjoying herself.

Opeth dived steeply towards the gathering of dragons, snapping his wings out only slightly above the head level of the bronzes and landing here with a thump. he grumbled,
In stark contrast to the crotchety dragon was the smiling curly haired woman who jumped to the ground and sauntered over to D'lin with her hands in her pockets. "Morning D'lin!" she called cheerfully. "Congratulations, and congratulations S'kor! Don't mind grumpyface, he woke up on the wrong side of the wallow this morning." The wing reorganization, in her opinion, was brilliant; she'd loved her old wing but she'd stay friends with her former wingmates no problem, and this shake up gave her a chance to get to know a few riders she didn't know so well!

Not far behind Opeth was another dragon of less than sunny disposition, but unlike the blue he landed without drama and greeted the assembled dragons and riders with just a rumble.
Giving Zetath's neck a pat, Z'iv slid to the ground and sauntered over to join the gathering. "Wingleader, wingsecond, fellow peons," he said with a lazy drawl, and a slightly sloppy salute to the pair of bronze riders. He was none too thrilled about this whole deal, mainly because it brought him closer to actually having to risk his neck against the Thread. Ugh. He was still trying to think of a way to wriggle out of it, but he knew Zetath would never let him get away with it.
