(LONG overdue log XD)
Rosciel:
Rosc woke up to the sound of rough cello music. His phone was ringing, and by the song that was playing, it was Nic.
"s**t," he mumbled under his breath and carefully unwound his arms from around Sin. It was the worst feeling he'd had in a while, having to leave her. He really had half a mind to hang up on him. But then, Nic didn't call him. Ever. Unless it was very important. And that was usually financial things. He had sent him a quick eee!-mail when he had gone back to his room, so what could he be wanting? It wasn't like he had told his mentor about any of the dangerous things.
He grabbed the phone and flipped it open, putting it to his ear.
"Do you have any idea what time it is?" he growled into the phone. The voice that responded sounded so smug he wanted to reach through the receiver and pull on Nic's ear.
"Yes, but I have the feeling you do not, as usual. It is seven in the morning, Rosciel, if you were home, you would be up and having breakfast before training." Rosc rubbed a hand across his face and sat down on Sin's chaise. He didn't think leaving the room would be necessary.
"I schedule my classes later. Let's me stay up late for demon and club activities," he replied and heard a chuckle on the other end. Yeah, Nic didn't believe him for one second.
Sin:
Sin seemed to murmur something sleepily as Rosc moved and then her arms wrapped around a pillow. She yawned lightly before snuggling back down obviously still asleep. For Sin to sleep in was the surest sign of just how drained she was from the horrible field trip. Her calender hung on the wall everyday marked with all sorts of important things. Fearleading Practice was marked everyday, her classes were written down, her meetings for club recruits, everything, but the field trip had left a huge blank space and nothing followed it.
Rosciel:
"As you say. On a separate note, I recently had the pleasure of talking to a Mrs. Err regarding her daughter and a certain incubus. Is there anything I should know?" Rosc stiffened slightly at those words. Sin's mother had called Nic. He looked over to the ghoul who was still sound asleep, clutching a pillow in his absence. A hand ran through his hair as he sat back.
"I have a ghoulfriend, Sin Err. I met her at one of those stupid parties we're always going to and we've been corresponding over eee!-mail for about a year before now," Rosc finally said after a pause. There was a shrill sound on the other end that made him hold the phone away from his ear for a moment, flinching.
"You have me on speakerphone, don't you?"
"Oh, sweetheart, she had better be taking good care of you. Oh, I'm so proud, I want to come and see you, why don't you call me-"
"Rosanna, if you don't let me talk to the boil, so help me, I will make you go outside." Rosc sighed a bit as his parental figures argued for a moment, his attention turning back to Sin. She looked so beautiful lying there and he really wanted to get back to her, back to sleep.
"Rosciel, did you hear me?"
"Hmm? What?" He hadn't heard Nic ask him a question.
"I said, this isn't some game you are playing, is it? The Errs have a very high standing and frankly we cannot afford the rift." If Rosc could see red, the room would be bathed in it. His hand tightened on the phone and his wings rustled angrily.
"I will pretend that you did not ask me that question, Nicodemus. This has nothing to do with politics. I don't care what she said to you, I am not playing any of your messed-up games of intrigue," he growled back, only receiving another chuckle from the demon on the other line and an ooooo of approval from the demoness that was eavesdropping.
"Keep your nose clean, boil. Don't want you dragging us down. And keep wary of her mother. I think she may have it in for you."
Sin:
Sin yawned again and opened an eye slowly sitting up and pushing her hair back as she heard voices. Rosc's voice...and someone on the phone? She stretched and arched her back frowning as she heard a slight pop. That wasn't good...she needed to get up and go for a ru-ouch...she looked down at her bandaged ankle. Oh...hmm seemed she wouldn't be running for a little while...and...oh Fearleading practice..." She cringed and then slid out from under the covers and stood.
She limped over to her bath with only a curious glance at Rosc. She wanted to know who he was on the phone with, his voice didn't sound too happy though. Politics? Intrigue? Who was talking to Rosc? Well she didn't want to be accused of eavesdropping. She closed the door behind her and proceeded to freshen up, her teeth brushed, her hair fixed, her face cleansed. She slid out and limped over to sit infront of her vanity. She picked up her brush and glanced at Rosc to see if he was finished with his call before smiling.
"Good Morning..."
Rosciel:
Rosc watched as Sin got up and moved about, heading to the bathroom to brush her teeth and such. He suppressed a groan at that. Damn it all, he wanted to crawl back into bed after this. But if she was getting ready for the day, there was no chance of that. Sometimes, he really hated Nic.
"Yeah, in for me, I'll keep an eye on her," he replied in an off-handed fashion.
"Watch it, boil. I sent you to that school, I can yank you out before you have a chance to argue if I hear you're causing trouble."
"Now, Nic-"
"Don't now Nic me, woman. If he's going to cause us problems, you better believe I'm going to put a stop to it. I really don't care if he has a ghoulfriend, just as long as she's a demoness and won't cause any backlash. Just watch yourself, and if you have to, go meet her parents. Show her mother the kind of demon you are. Goodbye, Rosciel."
"Byebye, my sweet little songbird."
Nic had hung up the phone before Rosc could even say goodbye. He sighed as he closed the phone, just as Sin emerged from the bathroom and moved to start brushing her hair at her vanity.
"Morning, indeed," he replied with a yawn.
Sin:
She glanced back at him and smiled as she ran her brush through her hair.
"Ah yes you're a fan of sleeping in...I'm sorry..." She turned back and continued to run her brush over and over and under catching every strand and pulling through ensuring no tangle marred the shining black and pink mass.
"Was that your guardian?" She finally decided to ask, if Rosc hadn't wanted her to hear he probably would have left the room after all. "I just...heard you say Nic..." She added not wanting to sound as if she'd been hanging onto every word.
Rosciel:
"Yeah, and Rosanna, too. Apparently your mother called Nic," Rosc replied, letting his head fall back, a hand running though his hair again. This was probably going to get worse before it got better if Sin's mother was on the defensive. He knew the club would let him go his own way unless he started causing major trouble, but Sin's parents were another story. This was foreign territory for him.
"They said your mother called, asking about me... and about us," he said after a few moments, setting his head back up to look at her with a slightly concerned look.
Sin:
Sin smiled as Rosc mentioned Rosanna, from what she remembered in their eee-mails she had been the one to introduce Rosc to the cello. Then she frowned and the brush stopped moving. She turned around looking worried her eyes narrowing a bit. "My mother?" Her mother had called Nic...about Rosc..about...them. Sin felt a surge of anger, she had told her mother how she felt was she looking for innocent information on Rosc...or a way to drive him away.
She licked her lips and then tried to put on a brave smile for Rosc, she didn't want him to worry. Except...Rosc probably knew better then to believe her quick little smiles. "I'm sure my mother just wanted to be sure that your guardians approved...and to make sure you weren't any kind of...danger. She's just protective is all...I'm sorry." She'd have to wait until Rosc was gone and her mother called again to figure out her true motives.
Rosciel:
Rosc chuckled a bit and shook his head before he stood and walked over to her, standing behind her so that he could wrap his arms and wings around her and kiss the top of her head.
"Oh, I'm sure she was trying to see if I was good enough for you and information that would make me out as some kind of blight on all demon society so that you'll dump me," he replied, his tone more than a little cynical, but he gave her a little squeeze.
"Don't worry, and don't be sorry. I'll fight for you if I have to, you can be sure of that. Besides, the biggest downside to this is that my great sleep was interrupted by a guy who has no sense of time."
Sin:
"She's not so terrible...but yes I imagine she was hoping to get some dirt on you...'know your opponent' that's my mothers motto. Actually I think it's my father's but mother had adjusted it for her own purposes as well." She laughed and then turned her head to lightly kiss Rosc's cheek.
"Hmm I hadn't thought about who might be about today...hopefully no one will realize you spent the night. Not that I would want to keep it secret...it's just I don't think the counselors would believe we just slept all night." She moved to continue brushing her hair trying to remember how many strokes she was on.
"Nic? I'm sure you guardians were just worried about you...you told them about the trip right? You can hardly blame them for calling, besides it's morning."
Rosciel:
"I don't want to be the enemy, though. It's annoying that she's formed an opinion of me without even meeting me," Rosc replied with another sigh, relishing the kiss she gave him. She was right, though. Her mother had no reason to trust him and Sin was their only child. For all they knew, he was going to leave her at the first sign of trouble. Oh, wait, they'd already been thought hell and back, so maybe the succubus should give him a freakin' break.
"I'll try and be quiet. Besides, I was only staying the night to make sure you have everything you needed for your foot. Couldn't have you having to get up for something and hurting it even more... At least, that's what we can tell anyone who might find out," he added. He sort of wished he could give her a wink, but he didn't want to take his blindfold off to do so.
"Yeah, Nic..." Rosc paused for a moment, turning away.
"I told him about the trip, but almost none of the details, especially not the part about me dying. I didn't want him to freak out and try to pull me out, away from you." He moved a hand up to run the back over her cheek.
"Oh, he knows I don't get up early if I can help it. Smug b*****d did it on purpose."
Sin:
"I'm sure once mother has a chance to meet you she'll realize your wonderful and ease off..." Except Sin didn't exactly sound very sure of that, her mother was a firm believer in an elite class of demon. Rosc wasn't exactly up to par in that respect, oh he would do as her mother had said for...fun, but she knew she was expected to find someone as power hungry, manipulative, and cunning as her...except Sin didn't feel those things anymore. She felt the aspiration still to reach higher, but she no longer felt completely ruthless. She had seen for herself death cut through demon as easily as monster or undead. In the face of greater perils they had all become equal, and her pain had been no lesser or greater when seeing Riley and Malodore cut to ribbons, she had come to care for them both.
Except she couldn't tell her mother then, firstly because she wouldn't understand, but now because she would probably try and blame such a change of heart on Rosc. It wasn't fair, but there it was, Sin would just have to pretend...which she was sadly quite good at. She laughed though at Rosc and nodded as she finished running the brush through her hair for the hundredth time.
"Of course, my own private nurse Rosc...I do have to thank you for wrapping it up. I don't tend to manage very well when it comes to first aid."
She tilted her head as he turned away, it was odd how Rosc acted in regards to his guardians. Perhaps simply because she had no idea what it was like not to have her parents always there, always controlling, ever loving. She had always done as they asked because she wanted to please them, except...when her mother had told her to reconsider things with Rosc. She hadn't even paused to think...because all those doubts had already been conquered, but she couldn't recall the last time she ignored her mothers wishes in such a way. Actually...yes she could...when her mother had told her to stop her eee!mails with The Raven. Sin had continued secretly, and she was rather glad for it.
"You shouldn't keep that from him Rosc...he'd be so worried...and even if you weren't at school we could still...write..." Even as she said it though she knew it wouldn't be the same. She liked having Rosc here with her, the two of them learning , experiencing things, and even being in danger together.
Rosciel:
"To hell with that," Rosc snorted bitterly and moved so that he could give her a kiss. It was quick, just enough to prepare her for the point he was about to make.
"I'm spoiled, Sin. Being here with you, being able to talk with you, to touch you, to see you, do you really think I would be able to go back to simply writing to you after everything that has happened?" No, he wouldn't be able to. It would be agonizing to go back to hearing her words through an electronic voice, to using his power to conjure images of her that he couldn't even see.
"But I will tell him. Eventually. For all I know, he already knows, I've no idea what your mother said to him," he finally added, moving away from Sin, back to her bed. He sat down and gave Nightingale a quick once-over. She was still sleeping and looked fine. Now to look at Sin's foot.
"How about you sit on the chaise so that I can take a look at the foot. I'm not an expert when it comes to first-aid, but I know enough things, especially bandaging wounds and other injuries," he explained, waving a hand to the seat he had recently been sitting in. He'd set his phone on the vanity when he hugged her.
Sin:
"I suppose it wouldn't be the same..." She knew it wouldn't but there was no point in whining and lying. If Nic wanted to pull Rosc out of Amityville there wasn't anything either of them would be able to do about it. "Yes...who knows what my mother said...or heard." Sin was more worried about what Nic had said about Rosc, what kind of ammunition had her mother been given?
"Is Nightingale doing better? Poor thing...she seems awfully tired." Sin limped over to relax against her chaise and slowly stretched her leg out. She felt a slow tightening in her calf but slowly managed to rub it out. She frowned as she tried to rotate her ankle and ended up jerking in pain. Still the pain was less and the swelling had gone down considerably.
Rosciel:
Rosc followed her to the chaise and knelt on the floor beside her feet.
"Don't move it, Sin," he said softly, taking her foot in his hands and lifting it slightly. He carefully ran his hands along her ankle, feeling for how swollen it still was.
"Does it still hurt without moving it? I say we give it a few more hours and if the swelling doesn't go down, I'm carrying you to the nurse. You should really stay off it though. Is there anything you can do to keep yourself from getting bored while lying down?" His questions came one after another, not really pausing long enough to give her time to answer, and he didn't even look up from her foot. He didn't bother taking the wrapping off, the only real reason to do that would be to look for discoloration and he wouldn't be able to see that anyways. She could, but it wouldn't do much good, since he didn't know what it really meant. If he had to, he would stay in here all day to make sure she didn't go wandering about.
Sin:
"Ugh...but my whole leg will get stiff if I don't move it...it hurts less." Then he was running his fingers along the slightly swollen areas making her wince a bit. Then the rapid firing of questions that made her smile. He was worried, it was sweet, but he was going to work himself into a frenzy at this rate.
"I'll be fine, I'm no going to go bugging the nurse for what's probably just a little fracture or sprain...what I really need is a good dose of FEAR and a longer nap. I still feel so tired...and hungry. As for being bored...I'm dying to get up and change and go see how everyone else is doing. For all I know there's still Fearleading practice today, I don't want Shehk to think I've dropped the ball."
Rosciel:
Rosc looked up at her with one eyebrow raised.
"Sin, I'm not joking, you need to stay off of your foot. Text your friends, text Shehk and tell her you're hurt and can't make it today. I swear, if I have to tie you to your bed, I'll do so," he replied, his voice some part stern, some part teasing, and some part... Well, the tying her to the bed part had brought a certain lilt to his voice, but in all reality he was still teasing her. He would, however, stay here and watch her to make sure she didn't hurt herself even more so than she already was.
He stood and moved away from her feet, to her side so that he could scoop her up into his arms.
"You're going to stay in bed and I suggest messing with your phone, while I get you something to eat and then we can go back to bed if you still want that nap." And even if she didn't want the nap, he'd probably take one, anyway. He'd had the best night of sleep he'd had in as long as he could remember, but it had still been a very short one, and after all that had happened, too.
Sin:
"Rosc! I can't just ditch practice...if there is practice today. Maybe Shehk won't be up for it...maybe no one is feeling up to things today. I really should at least go down to the field and find out though. It's a waste to just lay here when I can...sort of walk..." She mumbled unhappily and eyed her ankle with a frown.
"Fine...maybe after I eat I'll feel better anyway..." She sighed and then rested her head against Rosc's shoulder with a slow smile. "If you keep carrying me around I might forget how to walk."
Rosciel:
"Yes you can. Think about it this way. You ditch practice today, and it takes two days for your ankle to get better. You walk down there, it makes your ankle worse and you miss four, five, maybe even six or seven days of practice. Two or three are less than four, five, six, or seven," Rosc replied, setting her back onto her bed. He gave her a small smirk and shook his head.
"If you think I'm going to keep carrying you after your ankle is all better, you've got another thing coming, Princess," he replied, but the tone he used said he was joking. If she needed him to, he would carry her to the ends of HalloweenTown and back, but only if she needed him. He retreated to her kitchen and rummaged about for a moment or two.
"Anything particular you want, though the selection is rather small...?"
Sin:
"Alright, I get it...take it easy and let it heal up before I go doing any jumping, running, or backflips..." She didn't sound too happy about it, but she eyed her ankle and considered the idea of a lifelong limp. That did not sound appealing in the slightest, she'd be careful. "What I need are some crutches..." She finally sighed and thought about Alcie, she should visit her friend. Riley...she had to talk with her and get together a meeting for Lucky 13. She ought to send get well gifts....or 'glad your not dead' gifts to some people. She wanted to get the scoop on Arachne and her new boil too but that would have to wait it seemed.
She smirked at Rosc, Princess? Her? She poked her tongue out at him and then laughed. "You probably won't find more then drinks and chips in my kitchen right now...before the trip I donated almost everything since most of it would have gone bad anyway." She didn't want to sound soft, besides she didn't want to trick Rosc into thinking she was as kind as he thought. "Mother says making donations on behalf of the family looks good...you know demons helping the less fortunate and all that." Yes, ulterior motives, she was full of them.
"I had planned to go on a shopping spree when I got back..." She frowned and ran her fingers through her hair. Nothing about that trip had gone as she had expected or hoped. "I guess we'll have to go down to the Cafeteria..."
Rosciel:
Rosc chuckled a bit as he rummaged about in her kitchen. She was right, there really wasn't anything.
"You're right, there isn't anything in here," he replied, and walked back to her with a glass of water and a bag of the chips she had mentioned. It was better than nothing, at the moment.
"Cafeteria, or I can run to the store some time. I need to go shopping for food, myself." He sighed a bit, wondering if he was coddling her too much right now. Was he doing too much for her? Was he playing the servant when he should be the equal? No, he was being the caring boilfriend. What was he supposed to do, just let her alone? He knew she would only hurt herself if she tried to do too much on that foot. He liked to think that her parents would do the same thing
"Donating it is better than throwing it away. And you're right, good for the image," he mused a bit. He wasn't one for demon politics and he didn't really care about those who couldn't help themselves. But he knew it was important to her, he could accept that.
Sin:
"Ugh I hate this...I hope it heals quickly..." She sighed and took the glass and the bag opening it and popping one in her mouth before offering it to Rosc. "Thank You..." She sipped at the water and then sighed and munched a few more chips.
"It'd be nice if we both went to the store...that way we could both get what we need...I'm sure I could manage." Crutches, that's what she needed if she wanted to get out anywhere. "Thanks for helping...you've made this a lot easier...and probably kept me from doing it anymore damage." She smiled at him.
