This... was not a good day. First the mouse had made her run far more than necessary to catch him. Half way across her self claimed territory. Minze had wondered just how the mouse had run that fast and that far. Then the mouse had dove into a pile of wood. And of course Minze saw this as a perfect oportunity for the kill.
What did she get out of it?
A mouse tail, and her muzzle stuck in a log. The mouse had even turned around, nursing the missing tail and laughed at her. Very loudly and squeakily. Today was just not her day at all. Minze thrashed her back end, trying in vein again to pull her nose out of the log.
Nope, it wasn't going to budge.

The black and white Hyena trotted along the roguelands rough dirt, kicking up clouds of dust after his paws. He avoided the grass, not trusting what could be hidden at the floor out of his sights. Last thing he wanted was a sharp stone or bone in his paw.
Nonetheless, he always poked his nose into a clump of grass. One time he had indeed found a sharpened piece of bone. Looked like some predator had used it to clean their teeth. Or just gnaw on. It might serve as a digging tool back at the graveyard or to fix broken skulls. Whichever it was good for, the other Hyena's would find a use for it. It was his job to collect and sort. Not create. And collect he certainly did.
Itzal shifted the pack on his back. It was getting heavy, which meant it would be about time to return and sort out his new findings into his many piles back home. It was a good thing he had a good supply of other Hyenas taking from his piles to make things or he feared he wouldn't be able to get into his skull. Or even see it, with how high some of those piles could get. None of the other Collectors worked as hard as him. Nope.
Coming out from around a clump of trees, the male saw a most odd sight. And hilarious. Getting closer, it would seem a Wild Dog had gotten her snout stuck in a fallen tree. She didn't appear to be a young one, so there really wasn't much of an excuse for such foolishness.
"I suppose you'll want help," he told her behind matter-of-factly.

Her ears flicked back. Someone was stating the obvious. And Minze couldn't exactly talk as it was. She flicked her back leg at where she thought his voice was coming from, attempting to say "yes, I could use some, thanks for noticing." She growled and shoved her front paws on the log again, attempting to throw herself backwards and pop her nose out.
Nope, nope. Didn't even get the log to budge, much less her nose.
This sucked. Royally. So royally.
STUPID MICE!

Itzal continued to merely stare at her for a while after, debating if he really wanted to help or just leave her. Or watch her for some amusement. The temptation to just leave her was strong, the untrustworthy nature of the Hyena not wanting her to get a shot at the stuff he had collected so far. He had never seen this dog before. She might desire something he had found for herself or her pack.
On the other hand, she might turn out to be a trader. Or just someone he could get the advantage over with. That possibility was enough to make his decision.
Lowering his body to the ground, Itzal let the pack slid off his back, landing behind him with a thud. He looked back to make sure it wasn't spilling its contents before stepping towards the black tail and minty hind legs. Since he wasn't a rodent and couldn't hold onto things, he closed his mouth around the Wild Dog's tail, pulling back on it. A little pain was nothing if it got your nose free of a pesky fallen tree.
