This is a private RP between: Malo and Jace
Where: A shopping area in spades What's happening: Malo has a bad time in Spades because of Jace.
Preston booted the horse under him, kicking it on. It nickered and threw its front legs up a bit higher in protest, but a few slices of the whip spurred it forward. Malo had gone too far this time. Preston had gone to pick him up from the Tea Party in Diamonds. When he was told the Litwick had gone towards Spades, he had entered the frenzy a concerned mother would over her child.
He was concerned with Malo always wandering off. He usually didn't care as long as the Litwick was in diamonds or hearts. Clubs was out of his comfort zone and spades...well, Preston was wondering what had possessed his ward to go exploring in such dangerous territory. He was bound to get into trouble and the Spades citizens were not exactly known for their kind ways, especially towards Hearts. "Malo!" He screamed over and over, the mare under him frothing at the mouth. He hoped he'd be able to find Malo before too much happened.
This sure was a strange place! It was a little more stoic than hearts with lots of sharp corners and angles. It was bolder than diamonds but nowhere near as loud and crazy and clubs. Malo didn't understand why everyone was watching him with a shady turn of the head, or why some spoke in such hushed voices as he bobbed past. He amused himself by looking in all the windows of the shop fronts. He paused at one, putting his face right up against the glass and fogging it up.
There were sticks inside. The sticks were short and feathery on one end, but rough and pointed at the other. There was a bent piece of wood, wound with a taught string next to them. A bang on the glass made him jump and an angry looking scyther elder motioned for him to clear off from inside the store.
Malo stuck his tongue out, but moved along as he had been asked. Now, instead, he stopped at a rowdy sounding pub, wiped some grime off the glass and peeked inside. It...wasn't at all like a Heart's cafe. He moved on, looking for something to do or someone he could bother. Preferably someone his age.

Reagan told him that he needed to practice hiding in plain sight, sinking into shadows and doorways, to be as silent and invisible as possible. It had been easy for him to do considering he honestly disliked a large portion of the people that he had to deal with on a daily basis. Unfortunately for those around him, he'd also taken to learning how to stalk, how to follow others without being noticed, how to wait for the opportune moment to strike.
When he'd spotted the stranger entering their territory his eyes had narrowed, ears flattening against his head as he growled softly. Perhaps it was strange for someone as young as him to be territorial of place he had deemed to be 'his turf' but Jace didn't care. All he cared about was that this stranger was wandering around Spade territory like he owned the place and he didn't like it, not one bit.
For a while Jace had been perched on a trashcan, running his fingers over a rock he'd picked up as the stranger stopped at the pub. When he began moving again his eyes narrowed and he lifted his arm, drawing it back to throw, waiting a moment to get the perfect aim. He threw the rock hard, not caring if this strange person got hurt; why should he? The only people that cared about his existence were Spades, after all.
"You should get lost!" Jace growled, eyes narrow and full of annoyance. "You're not a Spade so get out of here."

Malo squeaked as the rock sheered off his covered shoulder. The impact hadn't hurt him, since he was wearing layers, but it had startled him. He lowered himself to the ground and turned, his smile widening as he saw the other young one.
"Hi there!" He greeted, stepping fearlessly towards him. "You throw really hard." He chuckled, but it was a bit darker than his usual friendly laugh. He picked up the rock again and he threw it back at the poochyena, his aim off.
"I'm not a Spade, no, but i'm just exploring, right? You must know everything there is about this place." He floated up and gripped the other's hat, trying to pull it off. "This is a nice hat."

Jace growled, his hackles raising a little as the other boy greeted him as if it wasn't a problem that he was flouncing around in Jace's territory. When the rock was thrown back at him he caught it and drew his arm back in warning, the motion threatening that he'd throw it again if the other boy got too close. Unfortunately that was exactly what he did, his hands making a grab for Jace's hat, one of his most prized possessions.
"Don't touch my hat!" he snarled, aiming to smack the other boy in the head with the rock. "I'm not your friend so don't touch me!"
He was practically bristling from the unwelcome contact, teeth bared in an annoyed snarl as he reached up to tug his hat down petulantly, his ears flattening. If anything could be said about Jace, it wasn't that he was nice or even pleasant. No, he'd been raised by the gangs of the Spades, had been raised to be territorial and violent, so there was no way he was going to just roll over and let this random non-spade walk all over him or pretend he was on his side. Only a Spade was on the side of a Spade, everyone else was an enemy.
"Get lost!"

Malo could sense the hostility and made him smile even wider. He was reminded of the angry chef who sometimes chased him with a ladle, only angrier and in miniature. At the poised arm, Malo easily looped around with his concealed body. He seemed to almost be fluid with how he moved and hitting him was hard, unless he was stationary.
"We could be friends though! We could be those kinds of friends who are really not friends but more like people who hate each other." He giggled and pulled at Jace's tail this time, thinking he was safe in the air. Now he was just toying with the other, as dark humor was his favourite. His voice was always pleasant but his eyes were narrowed and his friendly smile was more of a deranged smirk.
"I already am lost, silly butt. And its not like you own this place. I can float here if I want to." He could have tried his 'melting boy' face, but sometimes his face got stuck like that, so he just pulled his eyelid down and began waggling his long tongue at the one he'd call his rival, spraying spittle all over him.

Jace growled again when he missed with the rock, dropping it to the ground and tugging his hat down further, eyes narrow as he turned his head to watch the stranger warily. His foe was obviously a ghost type, but that simply made him mentally smirk; Ghosts and Psychics tended to not mess with him since they were weak against dark. Immediately that cause him to put this strange boy into the column labeled 'Reckless or stupid' in his mind.
When his tail was pulled he growled and whirled, trying for a sucker punch before leaping off the trash can he'd been crouched on and straightening. His eyes were narrow as he regarded the other boy before he huffed and tilted his head up haughtily, tail swishing behind him in obvious annoyance. If there was anything he hated in the world, people that didn't understand their place in the food chain bothered him the most. Jace didn't care about money or prestige or anything like that, he only cared about how hard the other person hit. Until they proved they could hold their own on the streets, he had a tendency to not respect them.
"Let me point you in the right way then." he growled before gesturing in the general direction of the exit. "You don't belong here and I don't like you."

"who's to say where I belong and don't belong? I don't have anyone who tells me what to do! I-I even tell the queen's guards what to do! So you better uh...watch yourself or I'll get really mad!" He still giggled like he and Jace were good friends and continued to relentlessly swoop around him like an annoying mosquito.
Malo was stupid. He didn't know that he wasn't an apex predator here, nor that he was in real danger. He didn't care, either. He knew he could get away as long as he kept clear of grabbing hands and avoided anything that could fly. He didn't know about type advantages or real battling. He only knew that he was having a merry time and that was all that really mattered.
"And why don't you like me? I like you. I like you a whole lot! But you know..." His eyes settled on the garbage can and he slowly lifted its lid, reaching inside and grabbing a handful of sludgy garbage. "Your mouth is a bit foul. So why don't you dress the part?" He zipped from side to side, then threw a handful of cold spaghetti, a few chicken bones with marrow leaking out, greasy plastic wrap and a whole bunch of raspberries coated in melted icecream towards the irritated pup.
With the force of his throw, he was set off balance and flipped twice in the air, hitting the brick wall nearby. The force of the collision, small for an adult but rattling for his little body, sent him from his safe haven to the concrete below. Hitting his bottom, he groaned and sat up, that grin stuck like glue. He shook his head to clear it and see what the damage was.

"Spades don't like strangers wanderin around." Jace muttered, eyes narrow. "And you're totally not royalty or else you'd know better, stupid!"
Jace's eyes crossed in annoyance at the other boy before he shook his head; this wasn't worth his time at all. He could be training, or sleeping, or anything that didn't involve talking to this brat of a Litwick. However when the other boy started throwing trash at him he snarled, dodging it quickly, his hackles raising a little; who did this punk think he was, anyways?
Growling, the Poochyena stalked forward, looming over the boy and glaring. "Well, I hope someone else finds you. They won't be as nice as I was."
With that he lifted his chin and moved to stalk out of the alley, pulling his hat off and stuffing it in his jacket in case the kid tried to snatch it from him again. He felt annoyed and, he knew, if the boy continued to harass him, he'd get physical. Jace didn't manage his anger very well, tended to get into scraps with the other boys that his guardian, Edgar, had to drag him out of... Normally Edgar was proud of him, but there was dragging involved nonetheless.

Malo beamed widely as the other approached him, waiting for a sock to the face or worse. But it never came. The other just stood over him and glared, mumbling some nonsense or other.
But Malo wanted to play some more. He liked pushing and pushing until something happened, so he drifted behind Jace and gave his tail another sharp yank.
"Why? Aren't you strong enough to take care of one little child heart yourself?" He smirked. He had never been in a real scrap before but he sure was eager to get this boy riled up, then float away before one started.
"I like it here. I think I want to stay!" He stuck his tongue out and waggled it madly. "And there's nothing you're going to do or say that will make me leave."
He did a handstand, blocking Jace's path and pulling his eyelid down with a free hand.

"Sure." Jace answered, arching a brow. "But just cus I can... Doesn't mean I want to. Who'd want to take care of a bratty kid like you, anyways?"
Jace watched the boy, now blocking his path, with a look of distaste before he rolled his eyes and abruptly turned, giving the boy his back. Honestly the fact that the Poochyena, as paranoid as he was, would turn his back to anyone either meant that he trusted them, which, in this case, he did not, or he didn't feel threatened in the slightest. After all, Spades was where he grew up, thus he was in his element, and the other boy wasn't.
"You're boring." Jace shot back. "Go find someone else to play with."

Malo puffed out his cheeks and balled his fists. He wanted to play some more and his playmate was getting away. He wondered what to do to get the boy's attention again. Maybe...a kiss would be too hard to pull off. Plus he wasn't supposed to steal energy from children. He wasn't even sure how to do it just yet...he got his energy from a bottle of extracted energy that Preston gave him every day.
So, he formed little seeds of fire in his mouth. An ember attack. He was about to release them when he heard hoof beats behind him. Turning, his cheeks plump, his face fell as he saw Preston ride up.
The noctowl was furious. Wordlessly grabbing his charge by the scruff, not even getting off the horse, he circled around Jace and galloped off, back towards Diamonds. It was unwise to start screaming and yelling and hurting infants in Spades.
Malo was so taken aback by the sudden-ness that he forgot to release his flames, finally turning and peppering them right into Preston as they galloped off. But Malo would not forget about Jace.

Jace was completely unaware of the attack that Malo was about to attempt to unleash on him, and, really, he probably should have been a little more careful. However, for all his boasting, Jace was still a child, and was prone to childish recklessness and arrogance. Thus it was a good thing that he heard the sound of hooves, turning to watch Malo get scooped up by his guardian, or so he assumed. If it wasn't, he couldn't really bring himself to care, it was too funny.
Thus all Jace did as they rode off was laugh, horribly amused by the turn of events. Finally his laughter faded to soft chuckles and he shifted, turning to run off towards his home, where Ed was probably waiting with a scolding and something warm to eat. Grinning he jogged away, putting the obnoxious Litwick out of his mind for the time being.
