The male was bored. Boredom meant he was alone. He did not like being alone. Most of his life was spent flirting, harassing, or teasing another fox. His recent game of teasing a certain amusing male had kept a smile on his face for awhile, but Barbas wasn't loyal. He had flown off when he grew bored, and occasionally he wondered about the male. That was all, wonder. He did not seem to have the ability to keep interest in others. One second, he's laying beside a recently bedded fox, the next he's ditched them.
Barbas loved this life-style. It meant freedom. He never was tied down, never controlled. His wings could go anywhere, his paws touch anything, his mouth say whatever it desired. He had no limitations. This, in itself, was pure happiness for Barbas.
Little did he know other things had other plans.

Vi flapped lazily as she circled, then landed from her flight. Her feet were on the ground, but her mind was elsewhere. How tricky emotions were. She could not even begin to understand the feeble attemts made by others in search of a mate. Mate, hah!. Another word for possesion. If you were mated, then someone owned you, someone could make a claim to you. No, not her.
She wouldn't belong to anyone. No one could have her.
It wasn't that she didn't feel a certain fondness for others. But that fondness would gradually become bitterness. All the bloody restrictions involved! 'Why won't you at least kiss me?' or 'Why didn't you contact me? It's been months!' and, her personal favourite, 'You can't go around with others! That's cheating!'. Plus, the fox involved would sooner of later demand an expression of, ugh, love. Veronica let her flames singe and blacken the grass at her feet.
Scince when did having a good time translate into inprisonment?
((sigh, such a romantic u.u" ))

The male had grown tired of flying, though he didn't stop. Not until his eyes laid upon a female 'Daeva below, his eyes flicking into amusement as his lips curved. Oh, oh my. Gracefully, he fluttered down to the ground, or rather glided, wings pulling up against his sides. He kept where he was for a bit, observing the woman before finally slipping from the trees, claws hitting the ground with a violent sound.
"Evening." Reflexively, his paw raised to touch his eye, making sure the scarf covered the ruined one. Good. A seductive smile touched his lips, something common on the males face. If he wasn't being a flirt, then Barbas was probably being a sarcastic a**, no if ands or buts.

She noticed the eye-touch thing, but decided not to comment on it. Yet.
Hmmm...
She nodded in response, a grin also gracing her mouth, sly and amused. Her eyes narrowed playfully as she tilted her head to the side, examining the male. "You wouldn't happened to be watching me, now would you?" She chuckled, voice like honey. Two could play that game.
She wasn't alarmed, it was all quite amusing actually. Vi didn't often fear for her safety, but she doubted this male would hurt her. She could take care of herself.

Grinning at the female, his tail flicked in amusement. A sly, seductive smile touched his lips, shrugging. "Maybe." He purred, tapping his nails against the ground. Oh, she was attractive up close. Extremely so, hot damn. Giving her a coy smile, the male rolled his eyes, viewing the spot around him.
"Or maybe I was just taking a break and saw you." He scanned her again, once more grinning. He was a lucky man today to meet her. Lately, he had been meeting some attractive foxes. First the handsome Nessus, now this girl.

She raised an eyebrow as he studied her, and in turn looked him over. She shifted her wings a little. Hm, he wasn't so bad. Ok, that was an understatement. He was hot. Mysterious stranger hot. "Maybe..." She echoed back "But a break from what?" Vi said with a wink, chuckling.
Her tail twitched, then moved to loosely circle her hind legs as Vi flashed him a smile with all the lusty charm of a succubus. "Admiring the merchandise?" Veronica laughed, flicking her hair out of her face.
She knew the closer she got to him, if this turned out to be something, it would spoil like it usually did. But why not have some fun along the way?

Laughing, he shrugged at her first question, deciding to not really give an answer. "Who said there had to be a reason?" He smirked at her, watching her flick her hair with amusement. His wings shifted slightly, pressing into his sides.
"No, because I have no intention of buying you, as merchandise requires. It ruins the fun, doesn't it?" Ears flipping slightly, his eyes raised when the sun was blocked by clouds, tapping the ground with his tail. Looking at the vixen, he grinned.
"What can I call you?"

"Drop-dead sexy...or Veronica. Veronica works too i suppose." She chuckled at her own daftness and played with her necklace...thingy. Ok, so it was just a string of chains. Pfft.
She too noticed the clouds "Now wouldn't it be a crying shame if it rained." She mused, half to herself, half to this male. Speaking of...
"What about you? Got a name?"

Suddenly, he broke out into a sly grin, tail flicking much like a cats. "You suppose? You don't seem so found of your name, perhaps I can indulge your desires and call you by the previously mentioned name. Perhaps."
Claws tapping across the ground, Barbas considered his options. Tell her his name now, or make it a game? Oh, how tempting. One must never tempt this male with a game. "Yes. I have a name." She hadn't asked for it, and so Barbas simply answered it like the articulate b*****d he was. Toying with his scarf, once again checking it covered his eye, and tilted his head briefly.
"It would be more of a shame if a lovely woman such as yourself were to get drenched in the rain. I could fix that." Teasingly (or was he) he spread his wings, as if offering shelter. He just as quickly snapped them back to his sides, an impish smile on his lips.

Vi smirked. so he was going to play that game, huh? " Cute, really...mind telling me what it is?" She enquired. Again with that scarf of his...Veronica wondered at what exactly lay underneath it. Hrm...perhaps later. She didn't want to step on any toes, that would ruin the fun.
"Oh, how chivalrous." She grinned as she saw how quickly he offered...only to snatch it away. " Of course you would never leave a lady out in the rain, would you?" Vi teased in a overly-sweet voice, fluttering her eyelids to add to her jest.

Flashing an approving smile, Barbas decided for once to play nicely, clicking his tongue on the roof of his mouth before answering. "I am Barbas." He purred. Oh, he intended on ingraining that name in her head if she proved fun, though currently she seemed exactly what he needed. Head tilting with a smirk as she spoke once more, the male seemed to consider her question, red eyes hinting at amusement.
"Perhaps." That seemed his favorite word these days. He flicked his tail once, humming briefly. "I never said I was a gentleman, milady." He purred 'milady', though as rain began to fell he coyly unfolded his wing, curious as to what she would choose to do, if anything.

Barbas. Interesting name, not something you come across everyday. Somehow it suited him. So, this Barbas would be her little plaything...until things got boring (and they always did). But she had the feeling this one was different. Like her. Perhaps he was the type to turn tail and run when things got...ugh, serious. Good. Wasn't like she despised that characteristic.
" Oh dear, what have I gotten myself into?" She murmured to her companion, pacing slowly to his left. She weighed her options, unsure what exactly to do next. Hrm. She smiled. " Oh, what to do? Maybe I should just stand out here and get wet, wouldn't want the Big Bad Fox to get me~" She teased

He mocked a face of innocence, pretending to bat his eyes at the vixen. "Like I'd ever do such a thing." He would. "I am perplexed as to why you'd think that I'd come after you." Suddenly, he smirked deviously, extending his wing for shelter. He liked the rain, enjoying the feel of it against his fur and body.
"Unless you'd like me to." He added, impish as always. However, he wouldn't pounce on the lady without her consent, he wasn't that horrendous, he'd still tease the ever-lasting day out of her.

"Suuuure." She drawled out sarcastically with a wink. Veronica padded slyly under his outstretched wing, steps slow and deliberate. She actually really didn't like being wet. Fire and water didn't mix, something she'd learned as a kit. Although, the rain wouldn't impede her ability to generate flames as an adult...but old habits die hard.
Vi replicated his smile and shot it back at him, her playful streak emerging. "Maybe...although I could always outrun you~" She crooned in challenge.
