The lands were still fresh to the young cub despite having arrived nearly a full moon ago. She wasn't too excited about the idea of exploring considering the situation of her kind in the lands; being sick scared her. Thus far no symptoms seemed to show, so she had slowly gotten herself used to the idea of perhaps being immune. That being said, Ihsan now found herself exploring the Kitwana'antara's lands with a fresh set of eyes. She didn't focus on the sick and dying anymore, as she did when she first arrived. She was immune - she didn't need to, right? The thought made her smile, and young Isi hopped ahead of her watch-guard stepbrother, who was in charge of watching over her today, giggling as she went.

Honestly, she would have rather gone exploring on her own, but hanging out with her family wouldn't be a bad way of spending a day either.

User ImageJabez was taking his big brother duties very seriously, and he followed Isi with his chest proudly puffed out. No one would dare to mess with his sister as long as he was with her! It must have looked a bit silly for an observer… A lion cub, followed and “guarded” by a leopard cub that wasn’t much larger than her. The leopard was bigger than some of the lion kitlings in his pride, simply because the cubs of diseased lions tended to be smaller and less likely to thrive. His adoptive siblings had been born to a healthy mother and were neither small nor sickly. Not yet. He wasn't overly concerned by the disease roaming the lands. He knew it existed and it was a part of everyday life, but he also knew leopards didn't get marked by the Goddess so he didn't worry much about it. His siblings were leopards or as good as leopards so why think about it?

The little leopard had no idea that Auntie Bird had ulterior motives for sending him off as a babysitter. The clever bird had figured out that if Jabez was busy keeping track of his lion sister he would have less time to get into trouble himself... The black kitling was a little trouble magnet and enjoyed finding new ways to give his caretakers a headache.

"Where do you want to go," Jabez asked, feeling very important, "We can't go anywhere dangerous of course."

The little cub splashed in a little puddle just a few feet ahead of her adoptive leopard brother, laughing and, after she stopped messing around and getting her normally pristine white coat all brown and caked with mud, just stopped and stared quietly at her reflection. Bright orange eyes simply stared back at her, healthy and happy and basically without a care in the world as all cubs ought to be. Her brother's words caught her attention though, and she looked up just as he finished speaking.

"That's no fun," she said with her best pout-y expression. "I wanted to go a little further toward the border today. I saw a small clump of rocks that might be fun to play hide-and-seek in."

Jabez pondered this for a while. He was supposed to be responsible and make sure his sister didn't get in trouble, but... The prospect of a small adventure was tempting. Very tempting. He frowned as he tried to figure out a way to be all big-brothery and responsible and also have fun.

"Well," he said slowly, "If you saw it before it can't be that far out. Show me where it is! But we have to turn back if it's too far out, and you can't complain if I say we have to go back."

There! Wasn't he responsible?
