Niji reached up and plucked a berry from the laden bush. Nibbling delicately, he decided to try to pluck a few more to hide near his den.

((Field is a grassy area dotted with berry bushes. A few paths wind among the bushes, as this is a popular place to find a bite to eat.))

A Sableye scampered through the grasses, looked back occasionally at the boy running behind him.

"Hey, wait up, Spinel!" Lye called to his pokemon. "If you wanna play, I need to know what the game is! Do you wanna play tag or something?" Spinel just stuck his tongue out playfully and kept running. The he circled around a bush and caught sight of an oddly-colored Eevee nearby.

Niji was caught a bit off-guard by the sudden appearance of the other pokemon. Then the glittery gems studding the other pokemon's body caught his eye. "" Niji complimented the other pokemon.

Spinel was just as surprised by suddenly finding a pokmeon, especially one that complemented him. he said uncertainly.

"Spineeeel, wait up---woah!" Lye called, as he rounded the bush and almost tripped on the pokemon he wasn't expecting to be there. After he regained his balance he noticed the white-and-rainbow pokemon. The color was odd, but the shape..."Wow, is that an Eevee! They're rare and popular!" he said eagerly. "Let's try and catch it!"

"Sableye!" Spinel said, not entirely sure what was going on just now but willing to do what his trainer wanted. Then they just started at the Eevee expectantly, Spinel waiting for a command and Lyle waiting for his pokemon to attack. Finally Lyle remembered. "Oh! You need an order, huh? Um...Toxic!" he said, spitting out the first attack that came to mind.

Spinel obediently spat a glob of this purple poison at the pale Eevee.

Niji jumped to the side, avoiding the glob of goo. "" Niji snarled and muttered to himself angrily, scratching dirt over the poisonous mess.

Lyle watched the attack go way off the mark. OK, that didn't work. What else did Sableye know again? Wait, Eevee was a Normal-type, right? And what was that weak to? ..Ghost?

"Um...Shadow Ball!" he blurted out.

So Spinel gathered a ball of dark energy between its hands and flung it at the Eevee.

(I'm not gonna bother rolling, Eevee's immune to the attack. XD)

Niji didn't bother dodging the ghostly attack. It washed over him, ruffling his fur without doing any damage. "" he said, sending his own ball of shadowy power at the Sableye.

"Uh...it didn't work?" Lyle stared stupidly as the attack washed right over the Eevee. Had he remembered wrong? ...Oh! Duh! It was immune to Ghost, not weak to it! So...Not Dark...Fighting?

"Spinel, try a Rock Smash this time," he said, not entirely certain.

Spinel was good at smashing rocks. It got him tasty ones sometimes. He had no trouble running up to the Eevee to try smashing it.

Spinel flinched a little bit as the Eevee's teeth sank into him, but he swung his paw for another attack. This time he tried to aim it just right.
