General setting: The open den is one of the larger enclaves
underground, that houses the "dining" area for the clans. It is rather sloppy, messy almost, the tables are constructed in natural "mounds", possibly fragments of rocks and stalactites from the ground, which also make for strange pillars/ dividers in a "honeycomb"-like structure. Food is distributed in an equally sloppy fashion: basically from large open "troughs" where food is deposited, though you see more Clan members playing with their food than eating it. This area is also rather populated with other Clan members, some who give you curious looks, whispering words in a different language that you don't understand.

There were no other students here, at least not ones that Chuppi could see right away. It was hard to guess what she'd been thinking, maybe she assumed all of the clans did things somewhat the same, but as she drew closer to what appeared to be the dining hall she was a bit turned away by the state of it and the activity within.

People were playing with their food, something she'd been taught long ago as a pup not to do. It was cruel to the creature you'd been hunting to tease it so, better just to end its life and sup on it well, so she turned away from that and kept moving. There was a chance for her to eat her, to sample their wears and maybe move on, and the monster suddenly felt like eyes were on here. Did they expect her to try something, to just join on in like nothing was bothersome? She could do that, she'd eaten all kinds of things before, and Chuppi took a deep breath as she moved towards one of the table-mounds, thinking she would just eat quickly and get it over with.

It was then that she heard the creak, a sound so strange in a place like this. She glanced around, her quills suddenly standing on end and her ears perking themselves up. Where had the noise come from with no objects that could possibly generate such a noise? The people speaking in their strange tongue didn't seem to hear it or, if they did, they just ignored it and kept on playing with their food and chattering with one another. Chuppi's quills stayed on end, she didn't feel safe here. Rocks did not creak, creaking was for things like windows, doors, and old bones.

In an effort to find the cause of the creaking Chuppi decided to pass on eating for the moment, pushing herself away from the table-mound and troughs. Her quills were still on end and her nerves were starting to leak back into her body as she slowly moved about the room. People were still talking in their strange tongue, still poking at their food while some laughed and others just ate in silence. There was nothing here out of the ordinary to suggest that a strange noise should have been heard, perhaps it was just a trick of her mind, and the chupacabra started to settled as she looked at the walls with more than just a passing interest.

If there was one thing she had learned in her two weeks to this point with the horsemen, nothing they ever did was without a meaning behind it. Their placement of books, the locations of their buildings, everything had a point and so it was in her best hope to pay attention and take in the sights and sounds. There had been the creak, not that the thought of it would do her any good, and then there was this picture. It was on one of the pillars and spread out far and high. It was showing something akin to an actual famine, or something that could have been similar. Chuppi was not familiar with an actual famine outside of what she had read in books, they were periods of need and many perished due to lack of crops and suitable water, so was this image simply displaying one of those times?

What did bugs and the sun have to do with famines, or times of blight? Did the sun burn the water up and the bugs eat the crops? There were too many unanswered questions, not that the monster had voiced any of them aloud, and she found herself touching on of the pillars with her small hand. A clawed finger traced one of the drawings, a large bug, and she shuddered. Did the people of famine draw things to scale or did they just like to exaggerate for the sake of art? Chuppi honestly hoped it was the latter for if the bugs were as big as in the illustrations she was in for a wold of hurt should they actually turn out to be real.

And there it was again, that strange creak! Almost as suddenly as her quills had laid themselves down they were back up again and the monster pressed herself to the pillar, nervous. A few of the clansmen stared at her, whispered in their own tongue, and went back to eating. Had they not heard the creak?! If they had and were not responding did it mean then that it was nothing she needed to fear, that it was a natural sound inside this place? Chuppi was a stranger to the Isle of Famine, their normal was far from hers, and her cheeks burned red as she released the pillar and looked around.

The creak had been heard twice, perhaps it was just a sound of the rocks shifting after all. Her paranoia insisted it wasn't, it whispered in her ear that she needed to stay on guard and look around, so it was with even more careful steps that the chupacabra moved about the open den. Her quills poked into a few pillars, scratched several stones, but she felt safer with them out and ready to stab into flesh. No one would approach someone with sharp things on their back, right?

She hoped to Jack and whatever deities the horsemen prayed to that no one would decide to try her this time out.

Half buried in the sand, a small patch of green can be seen, a few dried shoots of grass dotting the area around it.

((Entering from oasis))

Making his way back from the oasis, Shun led Mitsu towards a sandy sort of enclave. It looked kinda like a giant sand dune that had been carved out one way or another. Tilting his head, he glanced towards the wolf girl and went on to approach to see what it was like. It should at least be a little cooler, being in the shade.

Finding something to drink might be good too.

As he approached, he found some liquid, but to his disappointment, it was something like oil.

"They don't seriously drink this do they?"

((Entering from Oasis))

The desert was harsh and Mitsu was looking forward to getting into some shade. The hat helped but only so much. Up ahead she could see the dunes and what appeared like an entrance.

Keeping her steps quick and calculated in the shifting sand, Mitsu followed her reaper inside, pleased the find the air not as hot. Pushing back her hat she let it rest at her back with the string around her neck looking around to take the place in. It was like an intricate cave system, a burrow or a warren. The structure reminded her of a fox den or maybe a rabbit's.

"This place is interesting..." She trailed off looking at the liquid. "I...hope not."

There weren't too many others in the den as far as Shun could tell. There were a few clan members about, but not too many other students. He looked around curiously, noticing that their tables were basically just carved out holes in the ground. Walking closer to them, he saw it had a number of animal bones scattered about inside of it. They looked rather dry.

Furrowing his brow, he wondered just how long they had been sitting there already.

"It doesn't look all too appetizing," he murmured before looking back towards his wolf.

"But to each their own," he shrugged. It was interesting around here to say in the least. But he already knew that he had sand in his boots. It was going to be a bit of a hassle to get rid of all of that. He just knew it.

Mitsu looked around as well but as Shun found there wasn't a whole lot going on. Ears pivoting she tried to pick up on something and was startled when she suddenly heard a creak. Her head turned from side to side but there was no sign of a door being opened or closed. Where could the noise have come from?

"What...was that?"

Horseman point obtained.

Shun didn't hear it. He pause for the moment, listening, but he didn't really pick up on whatever had caught her attention.

"Hm? What was what?" he asked while looking around. He didn't really spot anything that was particularly out of place. Then again, Mitsu had a keener sense of hearing than he did so it was generally easier for her to pick up on such things.

"So far.. of the clans you've visited, which one stands out most to you?" he asked, curious. Though, as he thought of it, there was something he was reminded of. The reaper felt he probably should tell her what happened on death isle during class.

There were more people now in the open den, prompting Chuppi to feel less nervous yet still uncertain as to what to do. She waddled out and looked at the group, some of them she knew (as she should know all students, it was not an overly large school) but it was only by their faces that she could claim she recognized them. As it was she merely blinked and stayed silent, her hand on a pillar with her small fingers barely able to span the length of one of the massive bugs.

Would they hear the creaking noise too, or was that still all just in her head? Paranoia, she had never been paranoid before. There had to have been something on these Isles, something from the time at Christmas even, to wrap it through her and start this small seed of insanity.

Mitsu looked around once more but saw nothing. Maybe it was her imagination? Turning back to Shun she gave a shrug. "I don't hear it now."

Moving toward what she supposed was a table Mitsu had a seat on a flat shelf of rock. "Which Clan stood out the most?" Mitsu had to give it some thought. "I dunno Conquest and Death held my attention about the same though I was more aware when I went to Conquest." Admitting that was a little hard but it was out there none the less.

"We had simple battles in each to apply what we had learned and that was about it. I really didn't find anything on Conquest to help me answer any questions. I tried to read through some scrolls but I wasn't allowed to touch them apparently." Mitsu explained. "What about you?"

Out of the corner of his good eye, Shun noticed one of the other students watching them. It was the chuppacabra that he had seen a few times. She had a role in the play, and she was in Death for the second week as he recalled. Nodding lightly to her, he soon glanced back to Mitsu.

"Both resonated with me about the same. War's ferocity and Death's tranquility both had their merits," he said before he lowered his voice, not wanting too many to hear, especially if there were clan members wandering around.

"In Death, we underwent some sort of trance meditation and saw a number of visions. Some of the past... and one of the future you could say."
