I absolutely adore the .Hack games, it's what inspired me to play MMOs in the first place. When I heard they were making a PS3 game I though "OMG they are finally making a game that you can play online. (Other than the "failed" project, Fragment)"

I'm kinda disappointed that they decided to make it in to a fighting game, .Hack//Verses.

Gah, when will they make an online game!

Considering the first time they tried to make a .Hack based MMO and it failed, I unfortunately can't seem the trying to make one again :/

True, but I think they made their MMO at a bad time. Back when they made it, MMOs didn't seem as big as they are now and also online gaming on the ps2 was kinda... blah. I'm sure if they made one now it would be more successful but idk.

Yea I wasn't expecting a fighting game either. I hope it turns out good. I'm sick of them recycling Kites character style though. It's getting a little annoying and boring...

Quality > IP. The tough thing is to find someone who would be willing to try to make a .Hack MMO again, and actually put the effort into it.

I was already over them making Kites character after the first series //sign, as a result I never really watched any of the other .hack series other than Roots.

If done correctly I believe .Hack could definitely make a popular MMO, though as said before the main problem is having someone pick it up in the first place.

Agreed, however I feel they should just lean more towards "The World" and less towards orientating it about the series with hackers and data draining...

myself as well as my brother feel rather the same on this. :3

i would totally try to come up with interesting combos at the ring gates.

character customization would be a big deal. :3 like the types of hair styles/colors-outfit choices/colors. i wonder which version of hte world we'd play in though. would it be the version with heavy axemen? -do want-

I loved .Hack//GU.

I stayed up for days straight playing it simply because it was easy to keep everything fresh and entertaining.

New environment at will.
All kinds of rares to hunt for.
A variety of party member combinations.
I can even switch weapons anytime I want.

However I cannot see myself playing it as an MMO with real people. :/
You can't customize real people to fit your strategies, and even if you found people like that, chances are they couldn't play as often as you do. Soloing is just dull to me..

Lag would render this game completely undesirable. I rely on dodging most of the time, except for when I -must- block.

Toward plot it would have to be like Phantasy Star Universe. You're able to do whatever dungeons you want with your friends but the main story would be a separate one-player thing, with all of the drama and intrigue that actually makes people buy the games in the first place..

And even then generic/custom player characters have boring roles usually. ; White Knight Chronicles for instance, where you're just kind of..
there.

Give me an offline game where I can have a roster of fully custom characters like Phantasy star Portable with it's own plot and everything, a high level cap and plenty of keywords, and watch me beat a Monster Hunter player's total playtime with ease. ; Especially with the awesome variety of weapons The World R:2 would offer.~

Otherwise I think it would only appeal to the really hardcore fans.. ;
