Niji lounged on a large, sun-warmed rock, grooming his rainbow-tipped tail. The warm breeze rustled the tops of the tall grass that grew in the field around his sunning rock.
(Field is a large, grassy field with a lumpy boulder about six feet tall at the highest spot off to one side of it. Niji is on top of this boulder.)

Walpurgis and Satori shuffled through the tall grass, looking for wild pokemon to defeat. They had to get stronger in preparation for the gym leader hirings, and Satori was still inexperienced.
Satori caught movement near a large rock, lurching towards the boulder.

Walpurgis saw the eevee Satori had noticed, and leapt into action.
"Satori! Use Toxic, quickly!"
Satori leapt forward, claws secreting a deadly venom. A drop splashed onto a blade of grass below, causing it to quickly wither.

The rustling of the grass masked the sound of the other pokemon's approach. Lost in the pleasant warmth of the sun and the rhythmic motions of grooming his tail, Niji missed hearing the trainer's order, at least until the cat attacked. Feeling a set of stinging claws dig into his hindquarters, Niji quickly lashed out with a stiffened tail. "" he asked, gathering himself.

Satori slid back, using the grass to slow her speed. Looking up at the eevee, she announced simply, "You're weak."
Meanwhile, Walpurgis called out for another dose of toxic. Satori sprang towards the wild eevee once more, intent on leaving a more lasting impression.

Satori rolled to mitigate damage from the impact as Walpurgis called for a swagger. Satori got to her feet, raised her nose up high, and pranced around mockingly like only a cat could.

Satori was slammed hard by the attack, flying a few yards, but using the momentum to right herself quickly. As she looked at the eevee, her expression softened. {Why would you hit me? I thought we were closer than that!} She topped off the facade with a small sniffle.
