I'm currently Undeclared and a Sophmore in the University I'm at. I have to declare a major soon >< otherwise I can't get classes for next year. I have been just doing GEs for the past couple of years and I still don't know what to do. crying So I wanted to know what you guys thought! I shall list you the majors I have interest in and if you are majoring in one of these I would definitely interested in what you have to say about it! Like How hard, time consuming, fun, interesting it is. What classes do you have to take? What do you learn and what not :3 Also if anyone has any good online major/career placement tests that would be good and helpful too! ^^ As well as any other tips on finding a major!
Thanks!
Here's what I'm interested in! Aerospace Engineering Business Administration Computer Science Computer Engineering Criminal Justice Engineering Hospitality and Tourism Management International Business International Security and Conflict Resolution Japanese Mechanical Engineering Music Management Marketing Philosophy Public Administration Sociology Television, Film and New Media Production Theatre Arts
If there is something that's not listed here that you're in tell me about it! Some of these I had no idea about until someone told me about it and it sounded cool :3
Thanks for your help!

Good luck choosing. My boyfriend is currently almost done with his junior year of college and hes studying to be a mechanical engineer, and its very time consuming. A lot of his family members have been or are engineers, and the college work is hard and can be boring. My boyfriend likes what hes doing, so he doesn't mind the long hard hours he has to put in at school, so its something to think about.

Thanks, I really want to try engineering so I'm probably going to take an intro class to see if it's what I want to do. ( Especially since it's going to be time consuming XP )
Being an attorney sounds fun but I know that's not what I really want to be lol I'm terrible at arguing ._. and as a Filipino I really really really don't want to take the medical route XP trust me it's be put into my head so much I don't want to do it lol

I got my two year degree in Criminal Justice. I changed majors after that because it seemed like, unless I wanted to go all the way and be a lawyer, then it was going to be kind of limiting career-wise. It was easy and interesting though.
I took a year of Japanese in college. It was pretty tough. It's quite a bit different from English, so the whole first semester and a large part of the second semester was pretty much just learning the alphabet and pronunciation. I had to study for that class far more than I had to study for any other class.
I don't know as much about the other majors that you listed. You can try talking to professors in different departments that you're interested in so that you can learn more about the kinds of classes you'd be taking and what kinds of jobs you could get with those majors. Taking intro classes in things you're interested in is a great idea too. Don't be too turned off if the class doesn't seem like a ton of fun though. Pretty much every major will have a few blah classes and/or a few blah teachers. But college only lasts a few years. Your degree with stay with you for life, and you might end up working the same job or in the same field for decades. So try to pick a major that will give you multiple career options that interest you, even if you do have to suffer through a few blah classes or teachers.

I think you need to do some research on what those majors you have listed entail. What kinds of jobs you can go into with those majors. Narrow it down based on your interest in the jobs you could go into, then choose from the narrowed list.

You can also go to your guidance/career councilors. They should have placement test that will give you a better idea what you would be successful at. You have a pretty big list there and many that you listed are very far apart. Aerospace engineering-Philosophy-Business, these are very different things.
What do you like most doing?

I'd shoot for something applicable. As interesting as a major is, you still need to be able to get a job with it at some point. That said, you also do need a real interest in it or you'll suffer for it.
I'm an anthropology/archaeology graduate. There are archaeology jobs but the competition is incredibly fierce. When you do get a paying job its not for much. Luckily I don't have loans to pay back, but if you have education loans, I wouldn't look into it.
Thats why I would avoid things like sociology. At least as your major.
