While priestesses of the Clan of Death did not normally have resting quarters, Medea had taken use instead, of the large expanse that was originally the library of the main temple. As there was no longer use for archives in the temple, the information now resting in the newly constructed library, the temple west wing instead had become something of a very convenient open conference room. It was mostly an open space, a balcony far away from prying ears and eyes that showcased a spectacular view of the volcanic formations outside. It provided a very gentle, consistent warmth in the normally colder, harsher climate. Only occasional marbled pillars blocked the view.

The head priestess sat by a simple table, the only piece of furniture other than the empty chair beside it, patiently waiting as always for the other to arrive. Behind her stood a single figure, mostly vigilant.

Aisa could presently feel a throbbing headache coming on, with the clatter of students in various sections of the clan of Death. Her hand lifted upwards, to push back the stray bangs against the flowers hairpins adorned behind her ears. The west wing was a comfort in itself, reclusive, lacking the incessant buzzing and screeching in her ears. It's utter and complete silence, with only the occasional sound of the lava sizzling down below or the rumble of rock formations melting and moving... A harmonious tempo to the discord of her mind.

Aisa entered, with only the slightest rustling of her skirts, hand perched on the column. Her eyes were not immediately on Medea and the other figure, admiring the scenery with a rare smile. But only a moment was spent on the idle pleasures, her heels trotting along the ground to seat herself in the empty chair. Even the material of the chair was warmed by the climate. How quaint.

She did not ask why Medea summoned her, as the reason would be stated soon enough. Although occasions where company was present wasn't unusual, it was out of the ordinary for Medea to bring someone like so, without notice.

The silence was unimpressive, once you were used to it. Alke thought, personally, that the space could have been made better use of- perhaps more furniture, tastefully placed, instead of just the table and chairs. He looked away for a minute, instinctively stepping closer to Medea. Past the marbled pillars the sky was dark, stormy, and altogether unpleasant; at the very least, they were indoors.

Still, indoors could have been better decorated. The click of heels approaching drew his attention to an unfamiliar figure, possibly the one Medea had been waiting for. He moved to her side, face impassive as he watched her appraisingly, noting her lack of grace, and the haphazard way with which she dressed herself.

And yet, for some reason, possibly pity, this mangy stray had caught Medea's attention. Rolling his eyes, Alke turned his attention back to his priestess. Surely she hadn't called him back to play with some new pet, hopefully he would not have to groom it.

"I apologize for the short notice, my mistress," Medea began, "But without the additional assistance, our clan's burden has unfortunately, grown larger." She was immediately onto business. "You may have met my guardian before, Alke, who runs my human world errands as I am bound to my obligations at the Temple." The Head Priestess did notice her guardian's look of indignation, however. It was actually something of an ongoing gossip amongst the clan members as to why Medea kept Alke, out of all potential guardian candidates: their relationship could only be summarized as Head Priestess and puppy.

Said puppy who was currently looking a little on edge. "Alke, this is Aisa, the Heir of Death, someone who has spent as much time in the Human World as you on errands." A pause. "My guardian is here today because I have a new task for him, and thus for you. I would like to learn a little more about these students, and about Amityville, though unfortunately with the Ceremony close at hand, I will not have time to be personally invested. Alke will be asking as my eyes and ears."

Another pause. "This is a request that has been carried onto me by our Clans elder in prayer, however, I understand the two of you may have questions as to why."

"The shorter the notice, the more urgency it requires." Aisa excused the apology, as she would always have time for Medea. There was no greater priority, except, when Death himself called. following Medea's words, Aisa sheathed any flickering emotions with a slow blink. She tipped her chin upwards, lashes lifting fractionally, iris eyes landing on the armored male that stood behind Medea. Oh, so that was where he was placed. Medea's guardian .. That would explain the vaguest familiarity, although minimal.

Alke, was it?

It wouldn't be an understatement to say that Aisa had expected a wolf to stand by Medea's side rather than a puppy. The infamous Alke. But perhaps, he would one day mature into a guardian of unimaginable caliber. After all, Medea had picked him. Aisa was hardly one to say her tastes ran towards the odder end, considering the heir herself. She allowed one quick sweeping scan of the male, tempering down the amusement that dotted her thoughts.

Introductions had ended.

"The Clan elders .. " Aisa mulled over the statement, the remnants of the heir's sensible nature partially in wonder. The other insanity-ridden parts, seemed to circuit through her thoughts for what little she knew of them. It was no secret, that the elders were rarely heard, if ever seen. They had little reason to contact the heir, as the upper crusts did not have a need to mingle with the lower crusts. The elders, was a door, that even Aisa could not even think of cautiously opening. Only Death and Medea had the figurative key to do so.

" .. Which you already have the foretold answers, I'm sure, Medea. With the elders' and their usual cryptic exclusiveness, tell me, what interesting deed did you wish for me to execute?"

A long, drawn-out, dramatic sigh. It did not please him to hear his priestess refer to someone else as 'mistress', as if she were in a higher position. In any other situation, that is, if Medea were not around, he would probably have just yawned at the other-- female, and walked on looking for some other source of entertainment.

"Honoured to meet you, my.." He intoned, pausing for a moment. his eyes dark, even though there was a brilliantly dazzling smile on his face. He would not call her mistress, not with his mistress sitting in front of him, nor, he decided, could he address her as lady, because she was most certainly not one. "Heir." Best to keep things simple, after all.

"Always," he replied, his tone a little quieter and softer as he addressed Medea. Of late his priestess had been extremely busy, and he observed, with some disappointment, that she hadn't been taking very good care of herself of late, her hair much messier than usual. She might even have skipped taking baths, he noted with a frown. Stray strands of hair stuck out from the top of her head, and it almost killed him to see it, it was such a waste of his priestess' beauty, she should really keep herself in better condition, so to speak.

Frowning, he reached out, pulled a comb from his pocket and started fussing with her hair, combing it out neatly. Hair parting here, a neat line- good. He held the comb in his mouth momentarily, and picked out several locks of hair, braiding them expertly. Tying off the end of the braid, Alke took the comb from his mouth and ran it through her hair again, making sure she looked presentable. Satisfied with his handiwork, he nodded approvingly, then moved back a step and tucked the comb back in his pocket.

It was not within his job scope to question, and he rarely did so- but he had questions prepared, if she wanted them; whatever Medea desired she would get.

"They do not strike me as particularly important," he began, giving Aisa a pointed look. "Unless they are, perhaps, necessary for the Ceremony?"

"All paths lead to the same end." Medea's prayer was an obscure answer at best, to the two younger Clansmembers. "Nothing is permanent, and of those temporary, only some will prove effective to our cause. It is neither lack of foresight nor hindsight that made us choose this current path, so perhaps it is better to observe for now, instead."

The look Medea gave the two was straightforward as she folded her hands on the table, not even minding as Alke fussed over her hair. "Our clan has not been invited to the Ceremony, we are instead to choose representatives."

There was an unspoken sentence here. It meant that the other Clans were once again, attempting to override them in power. Medea continued on, straightforward. "If we are not invited, it means we cannot make a decision. What do you think this Ceremony is for?"

"Isn't it for the plans that our leader wished to timely divert?" Aisa responded, her tone edged with bristles. They had not invited the clan of Death? Such a blatantly belittling move they dared. Aisa's nail pricked a thin red line, as she seemed to find a thorough interest in counting down the clans that would be at the meeting. They asked Death to bring figureheads, already declining in power .. But by withdrawing an invitation, those figureheads would be subtracted of the little value they did hold even further. It meant, they could simply just watch the decision made, helplessly ..

Unless ..

Was this the situation Death was referring to?

The smile on Alke's face twitched slightly at Medea's words, as if he trying very, very hard to keep on a facade for the benefit of the person sitting across from his priestess. Essentially she was saying all this was inevitable, in her usual indirect manner- in fact, it was likely due to prolonged exposure to Medea that Alke had acquired his fondness for not giving straight answers either, though in a distinctly different sense.

Still, the uneasiness gnawed at him, as much as he tried not to show it. It wouldn't be the first time something like this had happened. Personally, his theory was that it was because of how peaceful the Death clan was. He did not blame the priestesses for this, of course- Alke really was rather fond of priestesses. It was simply the way their clan worked, and just because they were not often on the offense did not mean they could not be.

"I trust you will be there, my priestess." There was no doubt that Medea would be a representative of the clan, due to her status- the heir, however, was that possibly where the problem lay? Perhaps the others had decided that Aisa was simply not worthy, though he wisely decided to hold his tongue, especially when she mentioned Death himself. He could not possibly know what went on in the higher levels of their society, save for the little crumbs Medea fed him sometimes.

He went with her advice, and simply observed Aisa, giving her the creepiest stare he could muster.

Medea paused for a second to silently reprimand Alke, a sort of look that said very clearly 'Be on your best behaviour now', as she turned to give Aisa the rest of her attention. In a way it was very similar to babysitting two children and she smiled absently at the thought: it had not been that long ago when the two were younger still and the Four Clans dare not pass such harsh judgement.

"I am afraid they do not respect our teachings, as Clans members, as Priestesses. This lack of belief makes me doubt the requirement of my presence, but I will preservere as will the two of you. Observe, make new potential disciples, let them understand our ways."

Even through the smog and thick walls of the Isle of Death, the very tip of the Spire could still be seen peekig through the brimstone, and ominous symbol indeed. "This will be a most precarious meeting, monumental on all degrees. The change of the world, the Apocalypse. It would be odd if we had no sway in the final decision now, wouldn't it?"

Her tone suggested that the other clansmembers were planning exactly so.

Perhaps Aisa was used to creepy stares, as Alke's stare had none of of the scientific bloodlust when a certain doctor looked at her .. She sat in her chair, Medea's voice like a tempting lure. Aisa leaned forward in her chair, heels brushing against each other. Her fingers traced the simple design of the armrest, in rhythm to Medea's words.

Make new potential disciples? Death was not always in need of fresh blood .. but it certainly wouldn't hinder them.

"It would be odd, if we were to let them settle their feathers in such a presumptuous manner. But Death plays a key role in the .. pending Apocalypse."

Aisa's word choice, although it could have slid by other clan members, gave off a distinct meaning, solely exclusive for the ears in this room only. She looked forward to a meeting, that in Aisa's opinion, would surely fail in their attempts to barrier Death from their long-awaited plans. After all, Death was the oldest .. and wisest. Thwarting him was require a number of years unimaginable to Aisa.
