After losing a bet she had convinced herself was in the bag, Riyo had mentally prepared for a bombardment of questions and concerns from fellow classmates regarding certain... "Relations" that hadn't actually happened. To which, she would of course hold up their agreement, though to what extent she had to wasn't addressed.

A day had passed, then a week, then Scarentines happened and she was fifty kinds of confused. There were no rumors. None. It seemed like the boil had taken what he wanted from her and left everything at that. Thoughts raced through her mind. Why, after going through all that trouble, would he not reap the rewards of his devious and underhanded efforts? Moreover, why had he just...

No, she didn't want to think about that again. Though it all added up to one single, solitary, and painful idea.

She wasn't even worth it.

Did he really consider her some kind of ragdoll he could just play with and discard? Was the so bland, so boilish that spreading such a rumor was more shameful to him than to her? Was she that undesirable?

The ideas drove Riyo mad. Mad with worry. She felt, for the first time, self-conscious about whether she was even attractive enough to deserve terrible rumors. Eventually, it just became too much.

She hid her hurt under a guise of rage and marched herself down the demon dorms to the room she found to be the nightmare demons.

"Titus!" The ghoul yelled as she banged on his door. "I need to talk to you."

The first response to the banging and the shout of his name was to reply with the word "WHAT?" Just as loudly. When it was apparent who was on the other side of the door Titus rolled his eyes before making his way to the door.

A single lock clicked and the demon opened the door staring at the ghoul with a less than pleased look. It wasn't entirely because Riyo had showed up out of the blue but in fact had to do with the puff of fur he currently had tucked under his arm.

The foxfire seemed wildly excited about the new guest, little feet running against the air and getting it no where. It wanted desperately to be closer to Riyo, its little tongue sticking out of its mouth and licking at the air.

"What do you want?" Titus asked gruffly, leaning against the door waiting for an explanation to Riyo's sudden arrival.

The sound of him yelling back only put another notch in the ghoul's anger, her eyes narrowing on the boil as he opened the door. Riyo was ready to lay into him. Punch him in the face, drag his worthless body back into his room, and beat him to a bloody pulp before Titus even knew what was happening.

Until she heard the panting and noticed a strange movement out of the corner of her eye.

The feline's anger slowly morphed to confusion, and her ears perked as she glanced down to the soft puff ball tucked under her fellow demon's arm. What...

What. No, what wasn't a good question. WHY?

When the boil spoke again, the fists she was ready to throw had been temporarily forgotten, causing a lapse in her mind better known as a brain fart. "Uh." What had she come here for again? Oh, wait. She came to beat the tar out of him and demand an explanation. "Oh, you know. I came to touch base with you, see how everything's going. I also had something I wanted to give you." Riyo WOULD punch him in the face, but the fact that he was holding a gigantic puff made her reconsider, so she just lifted her pimpin' hand to smack ol' snaggle tooth across the mouth.

Titus grumbled when it seemed Riyo had lapsed into confusion. "Well, spit it out."

He waited as patiently as he could muster, his fingers drumming an irregular beat against the door. All the while he held tight to the struggling ball of fluff that wanted nothing more than to shower Riyo with kisses. Stupid mutt.

"Well, isn't that just fine and -" and the joke ended with what did the five fingers say to the face? SLAP! The demon's head jerked to the side hitting the door that he was standing beside. The horn on his head clattered with it loudly but it seemed the damage was minimal.

Shaking his head lightly after the impact Titus let out a low growl, those sharp teeth bared in a snarl. His eyes were blazing against the black of his sclera as his focus zoned in on Riyo's face.

"Noted," He snarled before attempting to slam the door in her face. Too bad the door wasn't working in his favor. It hit the frame being a fraction of a millimeter off center so that it wouldn't close without being eased into place. The force that Titus had tried to use to slam it shut only caused it to bounce back open and slam into the demon making him stumble back into the room.

"Jack damnit," He hissed, dropping the foxfire that immediately scampered to Riyo's feet and began to bounce in place to get attention.

While that had felt good, it certainly wasn't good enough. When the boil's face grew more intense, Riyo's pupils shrank to hone right back on the nightmare demon.

When he tried to slam the door, the feline couldn't help but flinch at both the noise and the wind that came blowing back in her face. She should've stuck her foot in the door, but it didn't look like she needed to. As soon as the large wooden slab cracked back open, and the little dog ran out to greet her, Riyo scooped up the ball of fur and charged in. "No, I seem to recall saying I needed to talk to you." The feline hissed, her free hand grabbing the knob to close the door behind her (carefully) and slamming her back up against it so he couldn't push her out.. Riyo didn't want anyone walking by and hearing this conversation. Honestly, it was nobody else's business.

Questions on the foxfire could wait until her other inquiries were satisfied. For now, the fluff was placed back on the floor gently. "Who do you think you are? Huh? You think you can just treat me like this and I'll stand around and take it?"

Riyo was doing that thing all women seem to do: assuming a man can read their mind and know exactly what they're referring to. "I know you get your shits and giggles from messing with people. That's cool. I don't give a s**t about that. To each their own and all that ******** garbage, but if you think for a second," the ghoul raised her pointer finger as if for some kind of emphasis, "That I'm going to let another douche bag walk over me and take what they want without doing something about it AGAIN, I'm afraid you're sadly mistaken." She was, of course, referring to how Deacon had screwed her over, not that he'd know that. Not that it mattered to Riyo that he didn't know. Frankly, she didn't care. The ghoul was a woman on a rampage, and it appeared she was out for blood.

Tending to his nose which he was debating if it was broken or not, Titus looked up with a look of confusion and anger. The feline was on some sort of rabid rant about ....what was it about? Titus was finding it hard to pay attention but he was fairly certain he hadn't pissed Riyo off in weeks.

"What....are you ******** talking about?" Titus scoffed at the foxfire who seemed intent on sticking with Riyo, staring up at her with those beady pleading eyes. They said love me, pet me, hold me, and possible give me a treat if you have one to spare. Something low fat would be nice.

"Have I done something to you in the last couple of days I'm confused? I'm guessing you had nothing better to do than come b***h about whatever came to mind." He paused then as if considering. "Is it that time of the month for you? Are you PMSing because this seems like the s**t my sister Mirren would pull."

He took a seat on his couch that sat centered in the room. His dorm was much like a small apartment the room they were currently in looked like it was made to entertain. Entertain who was a good question because as far as anyone could tell Titus had no friends.

"If you are experiencing anything of a feminine nature I would like to invite you to take your leave and try not to let the door hit you on the a** on the way out."

The fact that Titus seemed to have no earthly idea as to what she was talking about just added fuel to the fire. Was he playing coy with her? Did he truthfully not realize? Neither answer was very worthwhile.

Waaaait. Did he just accuse her of... Oh HELL no. "You sick son of a b***h. NO that's not it!"

Riyo suddenly wished the foxfire wasn't as cute as it was. She actually did find herself resisting the urge to pet him, and she didn't even like dogs that much. She shot the dog a sideways glance before realizing cute things weren't a good thing to look at when you were trying to be mad. "Since you're going to play dumb, let me spell this out for you, and I'll use slow talk so you can understand." The ghoul didn't seem content to let the boil have his space. When he moved to the couch, Riyo followed, practically hovering over him. "You remember the bet we had, Titus? You know, that thing you happened to win?" She wanted to add how he had played dirty, but frankly it didn't matter. A win was a win.

"It's been quiet. Awful quiet. I haven't seen hide nor heel of any nasty rumors. So here's my question Titus: are you trying to wreck me? Are you insinuating that I'm not good enough for you or some s**t? Is this like the last kick of dirt to my face or something?" You'd figure she'd be happy that nothing got spread around campus, but she had been prepared for that. She had been ready to ruin her reputation.

She hadn't been ready for this.

"And then on Scarentines you..." Hell, Riyo couldn't even look at him when she brought it up. The words 'kissed me' were on the tip of her tongue, but it was obvious to her now that they weren't budging. Anger was giving way to sadness, and she was fighting to keep the rage for as long as she could. "Am I really that worthless to you?"

What a stupid question to ask him. The ghoul knew full well she was. Though she supposed the sooner she could hear it out of his mouth, the better.

"Bet?" Titus gave a great deal of thought to that question as if he had forgotten. In reality, he kind of had. Once he had won it was no longer important...he had won. Spreading rumors and tall tales of romantic endeavors that never happened was far too much work. "Ah yes, I do remember you losing."

He leaned back into the couch as Riyo decided to loom over him, doing his best to look bored and indifferent. If only his nose didn't hurt like a b***h at the moment. The demon did his best to soak in what she was telling him but what she was complaining about....made no Jack damn sense.

"So...wait....let me get this straight." Titus leaned forward a bit to rub at his temple while his mind put the pieces of this ******** up puzzle together. "I won the bet and for winning I was allowed to spread rumors about us being together....and your mad...because I didn't?" Okay so he got the gist of her complaint but it still didn't make any sense.

As soon as she brought up Scarentines Titus looked away nervously. Honestly he had no idea what had come over him at the Scarentines dance but he had been suddenly brave and willing to close the distance. Try that now and he wouldn't have as much luck.

"Worthless...to me?" His attention snapped back around, confusion once again the dominating emotion on his face. "What are you hoping to be to me? An ally? A friend? Something more?" Yeah he couldn't say ghoulfriend or boilfriend, that was too much. "I don't know that you've noticed but I don't really treat anyone differently, you are no special snowflake among the masses." Decidedly not true, otherwise he wouldn't have checked in on her after the trials when he hadn't bothered to check on anyone else.

Riyo stood silent as Titus began to recall, her arms folding over her chest to enhance the look of her bad mood. When he started putting the pieces together, however, the ghoul seemed to relent.

Well... When it was put that way...

It did sound pretty ridiculous. Riyo's eyes started to soften, backing up a step as she looked to the side nervously. Suddenly she felt embarrassed for even marching in here. She had been so sure this was what she wanted. Was it not?

No, no it still was. The demon's eyebrows knitted together, the aggressive stance transforming into something more passive. "Y-yeah. That's right." Might as well admit it.

When the boil started questioning her aspirations, a small blush appeared on her cheeks. She hadn't... Meant it like that. Why would he even think such a thing? Okay, it was sort of suspicious that she was complaining about romantic rumors NOT being spread, but still!

"N-no. That's the thing. I don't want you to treat me differently." Her tone had softened considerably. It didn't look like there was an ounce of rage left in her, if any of it had been real in the first place. Out of anxiety, her hands started fiddling with the end of her jacket, as if it was something to take her mind off how awkward she felt. Wordlessly, she moved to sit at the other end of the couch, as far away from him as she could manage. "That's why I was upset, I guess. If I were... If I were pretty like Xiu or Hel, I don't think it would be an issue..." Riyo's ears folded back, though she tried to keep her face as neutral as she could manage. Of course it wouldn't be. The feline supposed the two ghouls had boils tripping over themselves for them. Xiu for her grace, demeanor, and elegant way she carried herself. Hel for her confidence, friendliness, and well-endowed assets.

Riyo didn't really have much. As she thought before, putting her in a dress was like putting a bow on a mangy cat... But since that was the case, could she really blame him?

After a little more gentle prodding Titus determined that his nose wasn't broken. Whether it would bruise or not had yet to be seen.

Still trying to make sense of what the ghoul was complaining about, Titus sank back into his couch, still rubbing at his temple as the wheels continued to turn. There must have been a wrench in the works because it still wasn't making sense. That or ghouls were really that complicated.

"I really...don't get it." His brow creased in the center, staring at the floor as if it would hold all the answers. Sadly it didn't.

"I haven't treated you differently, I would have been just as lazy with anyone else. It takes effort to devise rumors you know," Titus complained. That and it took people to listen and Titus really didn't have friends per say.

Looking all the more confused as Riyo brought up her looks, the demon made a face that clearly said she was crazy. "For a ghoul who exudes confidence your self esteem is lower than a fat chick in the cinnabon line going for seconds at the maul." He looked at her quizzically for a moment deciding to throw a question out there. "Why compare yourself to others? What do you think makes them so much better? Sure Wingnut is cute...kinda like a pet." He looked at the foxfire who's tail instantly began to wag thinking it was going to get attention. "And Kidget is a psychotic midget with a big mouth."

So...

... That hadn't been the reason, then?

It was the fact that Titus was lazy. Not really anything wrong with her. She didn't really know how to feel about that. She could be relieved that it wasn't an issue of who she was or how she looked, confused as to why Titus made bets without reaping the benefits, angry that he had put her through all this s**t, or embarrassed that she even barged into his room in the first place. Well hell, she was Riyo. Why not all 4?

The ghoul's eyes, much like Titus's, stayed glued to the floor until he managed to ask her a question. What was with the look he gave her? Oh god and what the ******** was with the cinnabon comment? "I exude confidence because I have to. I've learned that, in the business world, you'll get walked over if you fail to do so. But even that only gets me so far. I'm insecure about a lot of things, I just try not to admit it." Even though, you know. She just did. "People rarely compliment me. And when they do, it's generally about something I can do or something I know. The only real feedback I've ever received on the way I look has been of the negative nature." She emphasized that and gave Titus a look. "I guess, it's hard not to compare myself to them, in that respect. I've always seen both of them as pretty in their own way." Not that she would ever admit it to their face. Especially not Hel. Riyo would never live that down.

The feline seemed to contemplate Titus's explanation of the duo quietly, staring at the foxfire with a distant gaze. "Then what does that make me?" Oh wait, she could guess this. "The b***h that looks like a guy?"
PostPosted: Fri Apr 13, 2012 6:13 am

"That crazy b***h who dresses like a guy." Titus corrected. See, he could be helpful and nice at times. Throwing a dog a bone, that's what Titus did.

"And if you were so conflicted about your looks why did you take up the bet anyway? Were you trying to prove something to me or yourself?"

The foxfire at Riyo's feet seemed to take her distant staring as a come hither look. Quickly the little canine trotted over, shaking unable to contain its excitement. When it was at her feet it rose up on its hind legs and did a little bouncy dance trying to get closer to the ghoul, though it seemed to know better than to jump up on the couch.

Or throwing a cat a fish, rather. It was probably the closest thing to a compliment Titus had ever given her, and that thought alone managed to chisel a little smile on her face. It was all she needed, really. Like giving a man in the desert one of those tiny sample bottles of water.

"Both, I guess." Riyo reluctantly admitted, finally scooping up the foxfire to hold. Honestly it was too adorable to resist, even with its canine heritage. "After we made the bet, I honestly didn't think I could do it myself. I suppose I was right." After which she smirked and added, "Sucks to be right all the time." More as a joke than anything.

The ghoul's fingers scratched under the puff ball's chin and behind his ears, just like her cats enjoyed. She figured it was probably the same for all animals. "Well, I did get something out of it." Was she going to tell him what? Nah. Making him wonder was half the fun.

"So uh. I meant to ask earlier but I was busy slapping the s**t out of you." Riyo held up the foxfire in her hands, looking at Titus curiously. "What's with the cute, fuzzy creature? I figured this was something you'd try to flush down a toilet for fun."
PostPosted: Fri Apr 13, 2012 4:13 pm

=u= The foxfire was nine kinds of content as soon as Riyo picked him up off the floor. His demeanor shifted to be calm and still melting into her lap as she scratched under his chin. When her fingers began to work magic behind his ears one of the foxfire's little back feet began to twitch. Oh that was some good scratching.

Titus wasn't about to correct Riyo that if he hadn't strung her along the bet would have been over before it began. Why admit that he hadn't been playing fair? Instead he just rolled his eyes at the joke, eyes glaring at the fluffy beast in her lap.

"It normally would be. I think it would make a delightful hat, unfortunately it belongs to my Uncle and I have been requested to return him in one piece when he gets back from his business trip." It was the lamest job he had ever been given. The demon didn't know what to make of it when he had arrived at his dorm to find a mountain of dog supplies to greet him and his Uncle with a carrier. The foxfire was a pampered pet and loved attention but at least knew some manners. Thank jack it was house trained.

"Oh, you poor little thing." No, she wasn't talking about Titus. She was referring to the foxfire. So much like one of her cats, immediately melting into her arms. "Having to stay with this big mean man for a long period of time." As she continued petting the creature, her eyes glanced over to her fellow demon. "He must have some kind of power over you. Your uncle, I mean. Because I certainly wouldn't trust you with something so cute unless I had something to hold over your head." Riyo mused, combing through the small creatures fur with her nails gently.

"What's the mongrel's name then?" Surely Titus would know the poor fellow's name.
