Hellmaster Phibrizzo didn't seem to be in any real rush as he strolled through the jungle wearing a small smile. He was in the process of formulating a glorious plan. He would need a few things before action could really be taken. One of those things was a servant of his dear Beastmaster.

Phibrizzo hadn't expected to see Xelloss on his return trip to the jungle. Of course he hadn't expected to find a troupe of treasure hunters there either. It didn't matter so much why they were there. What really mattered was that Xelloss and some other mazoku descendant were clearly involved with the group. Well that would make his life easier in the long run.

Before any of that he needed to find Xellas. Sure he could have pulled the rank card on Xelloss and forced him into service but there were easier ways and he didn't feel like 'stepping on toes' as the saying went. Besides, he suspected that Lord Beastmaster was somewhere nearby. If he could find her before they left that would likely save him time. Not only that but it would also get him another ally to work on things behind the scenes.

The heat of the jungle wrapped around Xellas like a damp blanket. Her fur never felt quite dry in the climate and her mane was even fluffier than usual. She quite enjoyed it. After sleeping for so long, her body enjoyed the constant heat. It helped keep her warm as her own systems worked their way back up to full function. She still felt a stiffness in her joints from so much time with them unused, but that was quickly fading.

She also liked the jungle because of the abundance of prey. She never had any trouble finding something to feed on. Currently, she was eating her way through some pig-like animal she had found snuffling around the roots of a tree. She tossed her head back and let a large chunk of the meat slide unchewed down her throat. Her massive size required more fuel than the average soquili. Fortunately, this animal was rich in fat and energy. She leaned down to take another bite from the blood-soaked carcass. She bit into a shoulder and wrenched her had back and forth until another piece of meat was dislodged. Blood soaked the fur of her muzzle and dripped from her onto the already splattered ground. She looked every bit like the feral monstrosity she was.

Phibrizzo paused mid-step as the sent of fresh blood met his nostrils. Something had just made a kill and that seemed like a good place to start. They were all eaters of flesh after all and Lord Beastmaster did have quite an appetite to quell. With a grin he shrank down into his smallest size and began following the scent. If he found Xellas at the other end then his search was over, if not he'd see if the predator had any use. If it didn't, well, he'd just have to kill it then wouldn't he? Being small would give him the element of surprise, very few ever saw harm in little things.

After several minutes of flight he found the predator and it's prey and laughed gleefully. It was indeed Lord Beastmaster and her fat prey.

"Well, well, well," He started landing on the other side of the carcass and shifting quickly into his larger form. He only reached Xellas's shoulder but size was not a hindrance for Phibrizzo as much as it was an asset. No one ever suspected him even though they should as he was the most dangerous of the five lords. "I thought I would find you somewhere around here." He smiled at her speaking in his usual childish singsong. "I've been looking for you, Xellas."

Though she hadn't seen Hellmaster in years, Xellas wasn't nearly as surprised as she should have been. It was as if she had expected him to show up, though she hadn't had any idea. They were generals of Lord Ruby Eye. They were more tightly bound by the web of fate than most families were. She was immediately on guard and drew herself upright and away from the carcass on the ground. Phibrizzo was the most dangerous living being she knew. She would never make the mistake of treating him like the foal he often acted like.

"Well, you found me," she told him with half a growl. They weren't friends and she wasn't pleased to see him. The favors he asked were never simple, though they might seem to be at first. She watched him with the air of one alpha wolf sizing up another. He must have encountered Xelloss. Xelloss was the only one who knew her location presently. "What do you want, Hellmaster?"

Phibrizzo just smiled, no pleasantries between demon lords. It didn't bother him, he was well used to Xellas's particular brand of greeting. That being none at all. There was nothing wrong with getting straight to business.

"I'll get right to the point then. I want you to loan me Xelloss." He said casually as though they were trading blankets and not other soquili. "If I had any servants of my own you know I'd use them, but unfortunately I don't." His tone was nothing but pleasant. If it troubled him that his own personal general and priest were deceased he didn't show it. "Besides that Xelloss is already in the perfect position for my plan."

He grinned at Xellas waiting for her to ask what plan this was. He would be happy to clue her in to his intentions but he wasn't about to tell her everything without prompt. Where was the fun in that?

Xellas' fangs protruded from beneath her lip as it drew upward slightly. His casual manner irritated her, especially the way he asked for her to lend him her most prized possession, Xelloss. He didn't even precisely ask her. He told her that was what he wanted, as if her compliance was implied. While they formally had the same rank, she couldn't deny that Hellmaster was more powerful than she was. She could fight his requests and plans up to a point... but it was seldom worth the effort.

"And what plan is it?" She was playing into his script and tried to tell herself that it didn't vex her. The longer she drew this out the longer it would be before she could get back to her meal. She thought of the last place she had seen Xelloss, prancing off with that group of soquili that thought they were his friends. What use could Hellmaster possibly have for that unimpressive crowd?

Phibrizzo didn't even flinch as Xellas bared her teeth. That might have impressed lesser soquili but he knew her limitations, and his, too well to feel intimidated by the display. Still, it would be best to hurry this along. Even if he knew he could take her Phibrizzo did not want to visit Xellas's wrath on himself.

"Oooh, just a little ceremony." He said toying with a beetle crawling near his hoof. "On that involves seven items and a special...hmmm...member of society." He smiled at Xellas assuming she would catch on. It involved resurrecting their Lord, why wouldn't she catch on? "The group Xelloss is with? They're treasure hunters. They'll find what we need but I need to make sure someone is there to keep them on task. You do understand, right, my Lord Beastmaster?"

"One of the seven fragments of our master." She understood. She understood acutely well what Hellmaster was suggesting. The last time they had awakened one of Shabranigdo's vessels there had been a war that dwarfed all others. Many had died, many of their own even. The open field had been watered red with blood and she had been in the middle of it, wading through bodies and adding new ones to the pile. It felt like that had happened ages ago, and now Hellmaster looked to start it again. The anticipation of all that pain was close to physical pleasure for her.

"Who carries the second fragment?" she asked. She was less hostile now that she understood his intentions. This wasn't just some pet project of his. This was something that would create waves of terror through the entire land and unite the Mazoku race as they hadn't been in years. It was a plot that even she couldn't look down upon.

Perfect, they were on the same page. It was no surprise. All mazoku looked forward to that beautiful day in which their Lord would return and the world would be destroyed. It's what they had been created for. Destruction.

"A unicorn of all the creatures." Phibrizzo replied. He wasn't precisely sure where that unicorn was at the moment, he seemed to wander but it wouldn't be too much of a challenge to track him down. If there was a unicorn there would likely be others gabbing about what wonderful things it had done. It was like finding an angeni. You couldn't get within a 5 mile radius of an angeni without someone saying how truly wonderful they were.

"We get him and those items and this world is as good as gone." He said feeling rather confident about all of this.

A unicorn? Xellas chuckled, with a deep and rumbling sound. What a wretched though. The soul of a purewalker demon was encased in a unicorn body? The world couldn't possibly be more twisted. She liked it, in an insidious way. She would be quite curious to meet this cursed unicorn. Soon, Ruby Eye would be awakened within him and his previous personality scorched away. She wanted to at least get a look at him before that happened.

"Presumably you know the items needed for his resurrection and where they are?" She wondered how long Hellmaster had been awake to be able to gather this much information. He certainly didn't have servants able to do it for him.

Phibrizzo grinned. "Of course I do." It had been easy enough to find the information too. It had been a simple matter of finding a certain knowledgeable angeni. Sure he'd needed to go through a few soquili to find them first but after that it was easy enough to get close and loosen the angeni's lips. No one ever suspected a foal of treachery and for a flutter it was all too easy to appear to be nothing more than a child.

"Apparently the angeni I found was a close friend of one of the ones who did it. He didn't really want to share at first but I changed his mind." He laughed lightly reflecting on that lovely week. "All he wanted to tell me at first was a little too basic...darkness beyond twilight, crimson beyond blood that flows..." He waved his wings slowly to indicate that the rest was pretty obvious. "I was beginning to think that he really didn't know anything until he started giving me locations. Sure they aren't exact but I think it's enough for a pack of treasure hunters to go off of." He smiled wickedly.

"So...about Xelloss?"

An entire week. Hellmaster surely was talented. Though all of them delighted in cruelty, he was the one with the greatest talent for it. Xellas would have pitied the dead angeni if she had been capable of feeling such an emotion. As it was, she was simply impressed that the angeni had managed to hold out for so long. Many lesser creatures would have bent after mere minutes of what Hellmaster had in store for them. While she unconditionally loathed all those that served the light, they did have impressive willpower at times.

"Xelloss is yours to do with as you will for this mission." Now that she understood his plot, she lent her priest freely. This wasn't some mere power grab by Hellmaster. "Find him and inform him of that. He won't give you trouble." They had barely spent any time at all together since her long sleep, but she still had utter faith in his loyalty. Just as he would follow her to his death and doom, so he would follow Phibrizzo, just perhaps without quite as much enthusiasm.

"Perfect." That was all Phibrizzo had needed. Xelloss was Lord Beastmaster's only subordinate and as such Phibrizzo knew him to be exceptionally loyal to her. One word that Xellas was giving Phibrizzo power over him temporarily and Xelloss would be his to control completely until new orders were issued. It was good to be near the top of the chain. He was free to toy with anything beneath him.

"Well then, I won't keep you any longer." He said shrinking down to a smaller size and flying up into the air. "I have places to go and people to find." With that he nodded his head and continued to shrink as small as he could go before flying out of sight. He just had to find a way to let Xelloss know without his group catching on now. That shouldn't be too hard.

Xellas frowned slightly, watching Hellmaster leave. He had appeared suddenly and unexpectedly and was gone much the same way. Though she supported his plan, she still didn't trust him. There was always more to his schemes than what was on the surface. In that way, it would be good to have Xelloss working with him. No matter who her priest might work for, he still reported to her. She could use him to keep track of Hellmaster's movements until she knew the true shape of his plans.

She glanced back to the carcass on the ground. Her hunger had left her, but it was a shame to waste such juicy meat. She leaned down to tear off another piece, chewed, and swallowed. As if the world was nothing but dead meat, the Mazoku sought to devour it in darkness. Every victory they took was one step closer to the chaos in which they were born from. If all went according to plan then soon their leader would return, and the world would tremble.
