The morning was cool and crisp, giving hope to the blue delta for a warm afternoon. Zydra strolled along the meadow, occasionally picking a flower that was past its prime and handing it over to the small bird like creature on her back. Now that her foster son Ladon had grown up she could go back to collecting flowers for her home. The dragon mutant had thought it the most boring thing in the world and would sneak off every time.

With a sad smile she paused to reflect on the newly changed herla then shook her head. "Oh, Rhys. I'm being quite silly, aren't I? It's not like I won't ever see him again." She turned her liquid blue eyes to the purple chibin on her back and smiled. Rhys began to chitter in agreement and held up the batch of flowers in his claws. Though he loved their outings together, the sooner his lady was done picking flowers the sooner they would have lunch!

A gentle rustling of leaves and tall grass was more than enough to coax the small and sensitive changeling to open her eyes. Ears perking at the noise, she peered through the thicket her mother had abandoned her in. As the leaves continued to rustle, her eyes darted from tree to flower wondering what could have been moving about. She was still to young and scared to realize that it was her own shivering moving the flora about her.

Coughing gently, Vivi curled about the weathered teddy bear and told herself that her mother would return soon. That she would put that fawn back in this thicket and run off with her. There had to be a reason her mother had left her right? To protect her? She'd be back...she had to come back.

Blue ears flicked and turned towards the rustling but the delta paid it no mind until she heard the soft cough. Zydra new that sound well and left all thoughts of flowers behind as she walked towards the noise. "Hello? Are you all right?" Her voice was soft, like chimes moving in the wind. "Careful now, Rhys." She murmured as her chibin jumped from her back to the ground and secured the flowers in his tail feathers before investigating the foliage. Following his lead she began to look through the tall bushes for the source of the noise.

A gentle and sweeping sound reached her ears as they swiveled. A musical like voice that reminded her of her mothers or her herd. They had all spoken that way hadn't they? Beautiful angels whispering on the wind as her mother had said once. W-Was it her mother?

"M-mama?" Voice weak...a small hint of the frog her mother had compared it to, Vivi struggled to try and stand. Taking the teddy she had been left all alone with in her mouth. The stuffed animal dangling by the ear as she forced her shaky legs forward and out of the thicket.

"Mmma...mwhere re ou?" Her words muffled by the teddy, she stumbled forward. Ears and tail drooping as she realized the safety of the thicket was no longer surrounding her. Eyes wide, she immediately began to scan the surrounding area. Freezing at the sight of brilliant blue female and a...a...well she didn't know what it was. But it was purple with a beak.

"Aah, my little darling. Are you alright?" At the sight of the fawn she began to slowly step closer, not wanting to spook the poor thing. Her heart broke as the child cried out for her mother and she began to look around the area for any other herla. "Is your mother near, love? Or.." Oh, it tore her apart every time she saw a fawn left by its parents. "Or has she been gone for a while now?" She lowered her head to the same level as the fawns and began stepping closer again.

"Mot Mmma" Her ears swiveled back and she mumbled around the teddi's ear once more. The fawn tried to stumble backwards, but nearly fell and decided to stand her ground. Another soft cough causing her to drop the plush.

As the other herla began to speak and ask more questions, she didn't know what to do. Her mother had always said that they didn't associate with lower herla. Strangers were not safe. Not safe...Eyes widening even more, she didn't even shake her head as the other approached her. If the other herla wasn't safe, she shouldn't answer her questions right? But then...what did she do?

"No, I am sorry little one. But I mean you no harm." She stepped closer and smiled softly, "I only wish to help you. Ah. And this is my friend Rhys." She nodded to the little purple chibin as it carefully hopped towards the dropped plush and picked it up. After giving it a quick dust off he held it out for fawn, giving some chirps of encouragement.

At the silence Zydra gave a sigh and stepped closer, her motherly instincts kicking into overdrive. She leaned down to give the tan cheek a nuzzle and began to groom the silky blonde hair now a mess from branches. "There, there, dearest. It's all right. If you would like, I will wait with you until your mother returns. That way you will not be alone in this forest, I will protect you."

The fawn's eyes darted from the doe to the questionable creature approaching her poor defenseless teddy. She should have picked it back up immediately! Only...it seemed to be trying to give it back her? Tail perking the tiniest bit, Vivi leaned down to try and pick her teddy back up when she felt the doe's nuzzle and halted. Visuevio wanted to shrink back from the doe but she couldn't move. Her little body was frozen in place and in thought. What did she do? Wait for mother? Run? Talk to this strange herla and the purple chirping thing?

Another cough broke her stubborn silence and Vivi found it slightly harder to breath. Her breaths coming with a gentle whistling wheeze. It wasn't too hard to tell that she was skinny, faint outlines of her ribs almost visible. A reminder of just how long her mother had left her all alone in that place. Coughing again, she found herself leaning into the doe for support. The grooming felt nice...as if her mother had come back. But this doe wasn't her.

Coming to her senses, Vivi pulled back. The fawn snatching her teddy in the process of taking a few steps away from them. "Mmma mill ome ack," the words of her muffled voice stubborn and yet almost a question. The doe had said she would wait with her...that wasn't talking right? Ears moving up and forward just a bit, she looked between the two of them and hesitantly sat down. "ou mwait ith me? Etty doe and ird unny?"

((Mama will come back? You will wait with me" Pretty doe and bird bunny?))

Taking a step back to give the fawn some room as it retreated, she gave a nod. "Yes, we will wait with you." Turning her liquid eyes to the purple chibin she nosed his ear. "Rhys, why don't you go find our new friend something to eat, hmm? And some grapes too, to help with her cough." She watched him nod and then scamper away before returning her gaze to Vivi. A frown formed on her usually serene face as Zydra gave the fawn a look over. It was horrible what the poor thing had been through already and she was so dead set that the mother would return. And in the rare chance that she did return, oh she had a few words to share with the other doe. But for now she just gave a heavy sigh and settled down in the foliage, leaving enough room for the fawn if she cared to snuggle. "Ah, how impolite of me. My name is Zydra. Could you tell me your name?"

At the mention of food, Vivi's ears perked slightly and cued a rumble from her stomach. Eyes wide with embarrassment, she flushed and looked away from the doe. Eyes focusing on a rock on the ground she wandered if the doe had noticed. Her mamma would have been displeased and she had spent so much time alone, she didn't want to upset the doe that had agreed to wait with her for her mother.

Eyes wandering away from the ground as the bunny bird wandered off, she couldn't help but watch with slight curiosity. Its movements so strange and unique to her. Slowly moving forward one hesitant step at time for a better look as it swiftly began to leave her sight, the fawn barely noticed she had moved closer to the doe as well.

Jumping as the doe addressed her, Vivi dropped her teddy in shock. Ears and tail falling flat once more as she wondered if it was okay to answer the doe. Zydra...the does had shared her name...did that still make them strangers? Mama had always said that name were important, well true names. She didn't really know the difference yet but if this doe had given her an name then maybe she could trust Zydra with her own. "Vi...Visuevio."

"Visuevio." Zydra spoke it a few times then sighed happily. "You have a very beautiful name, it matches you well." The blue hind turned her attention from eying the fawn to her companion. "And does your friend have a name as well?" To keep her talking was her first goal and then she could slowly earn her trust. She was sure that after some food and rest the fawn would feel more lenient towards her.

Vivi's ears drooped back a bit at the mention of her teddy's name. She didn't know. Vivi had been sure that the previous fawn had named it and...names were important. He had been her companion while her mother was a way and she didn't even know his name. Perhaps she would ask when her mother brought the other fawn back. She could thank it for its comfort properly with a name.

Shaking her head, the fawn nosed the teddy gently and looked back up at Zydra as if she was ashamed. "Teddy not mine...the fawn dat went with mama didn't tell me da name. Friend has...has no name."

Perking her ears a bit, she slowly laid down next to the teddy. A small cough shaking her for a moment before she looked back up at the doe with a bit of determination. "But she'll come back...mhmm. Me protect teddy for her till mama comes back." She coughed a few more times before nestling her head into he teddy's soft body. She was tarting to feel tired again.

Zydra began to frown as the poor fawn seemed to wither quickly before her eyes. "Ah, I see. Not knowing its name is a shame, but it is very kind of you to take care of it in her stead. Your mother will be proud." Her ears flicked at a rustle in the brush, relieved to see Rhys come hopping through the grass carrying a cluster of grapes on his back and a few flowers clutched in his claws. "Very good timing, dear." She leaned forward as the chibin hopped by to give him a nosing. "Visuevio, I know you are very tired. But do you think you could manage to eat some before you sleep?" Her liquid blue eyes followed Rhys as he inched forward and outstretched his claws, presenting the fawn with a slightly crumbled bouquet of flowers.

Her limp tail almost seemed to wag a bit at the thought of her mother being proud. She wasn't too sure what that would feel like...but was fairly positive that her mother had felt nothing of the kind. Maybe she would try and make her mother as proud as she could when she returned. Yeah.

Nuzzling into the teddy even more, she barely noticed the bird bunny returning with grapes and flowers. Eyes drooped, Vivi yawned and then started at the the fact the bird bunny was right next to her. She sniffed at the crumpled flowers and yawned one more before shaking her body with another cough. Still wary, Vivi looked between the food and Zydra before nibbling a flower hesitantly.

Zydra watched with worried, motherly eyes, wishing she could hover over the fawn like a good care-taker. "There, there. It won't work like magic but those grapes will calm your cough in time. Maybe after you've had a nap you'll wake to see it has lessened." Her tail serpentined behind her, softly rustling the grass, displaying her nerves than she wouldn't allow her face to. The chibin nodded enthusiastically as Zydra spoke, his little claws detaching the grapes from the vine for the young one and laying them in a pile beside her. He chittered a way in a soft, but scolding manner, determined to get the fawn to eat if he had to lord over her with his less than a foot tall self.
