OOC It is assumed that if your student is in this ORP, they have corner of the Open Cavern (either in an rp or just "off screen"), as the only entrance into this area is through the temple. - If your student hasn't done an rp there that's fine, just rp them arriving from the point in your post to walk into this location By now, several students may have noticed an additional doorway at one of the less-used entrances of the Open Cavern. It would have been inconspicuous enough on its own, however, there was a strange feeling, an ancient sort of Fear that emanated from within. The rest of the way dissolved into stifled darkness downwards
There was a set of stairs, simple stone slabs that paved the descent, but as any curious eyes continued walking, it was obvious that they were in a rather forbidden area. Though the ground was dirty, dry, the soil gradually shifted to stone, the transition sudden, the warmth bleeding into a sudden cold. The further the students went, the more ominous the Fear, a strange pulsating aura, a feeling that ebbed and flowed in waves, as if breathing. The walls themselves were filled with carvings, archaic even, pictures of Four Clans members and their purposeful destruction of the Human World, through plague, hellfire, arrows, the graphic depictions continued on wall to wall.
And minute later, at the very, very far end, was an alcove-
- A blast of overwhelming Fear stopped all students in their tracks: they were literally unable to move a step further. It was a strange feeling, an overexposure to an entirely foreign Fear that caused strong waves of nausea, dizziness, bordering between pain and agony. Deep below them was a symbol, surrounded in glyphs - Four Clans glyphs, humming, pulsating with a life of their own. In intermittent, consistent waves, the buzzing would grow louder, the Fear radiating from it overwhelming the students entirely, causing their own forms to flicker and begin to dissipate drawn towards the source. They could feel something in them give away, their hands first, then feet slowly fading away, disappearing, feeding the energy source below-
- It would only take a few moments longer for them to disappear entirely, permanently. OOC: THE ??? ROOM REACTION POSTS - This is a little different from a conventional ORP, please read the RP prompt above and then post reactions as necessary. The Fear-pulling effect from this room is very strong. At the end of the alcove, roll a 100-sided dice and match your dice to the results below. You will need to continue rolling with your student until they have successfully escaped! (That means, continue rolling the 100-sided dice until you get the correct ESCAPE response). RP OUT EACH RESULT. - If you manage to successfully exit this RP (with the dice rolling) AND write over 800 words, please give yourself 3 BONUS Four Clans points. You can only claim this once per student. Make sure to link your post when claiming these points. - Feel free to post reactions from this room later on in ORPS/PRPS/ Training orps, as you wish! 1-20: The Fear waves are overwhelming! You collapse on the ground, but as you look down, you swear you can see something: several symbols all glowing an angry red pointing outwards from the main runes in the center. 21- 40: You feel lightheaded, dizzy, everything begins to swim, and you try to grab something to steady yourself. The strange buzzing noise is louder now, practically blasting your ears. You can hear something strange: a strange buzzing and bubbling in the background. 41 - 60: As the room's Fear overwhelms you, you see strange flickers of images: Four Clans members walking into the room, carrying large crates and cartons of objects, heading somewhere in large numbers... 61 - 80: Everything goes numb and for a second, and you feel good, better than you have for a while. It feels peaceful, perfect, complete. You will be part of the Clans, you will be a protector of this Clan, watching over it with your Fear, with The Fear, the essence of what you all are: a barrier, a means to guard your clan from any harm in the purest essence - - You wake up, back in your body. Maybe you realise how close you were to disappearing entirely. Maybe it would be more terrifying if you weren't so tired. 81-100: You manage, finally, with the last dregs of your effort to escape. You are tired, exhausted still, but you make it out. Whatever it was it is best if you don't go back to the room ever again.

Aleria slid into the cavern, swaying as that Fear washed over them, like a crashing wave in a tsunami. The tall creature nearly doubled over, wheezing, nails digging into the walls. Oh, the buzzing. The buzzing in their ears was relentless, hissing as they descended. There were etchings in the wall, and...Aleria felt drawn to it, like a pulling behind their eyes, descending further. Inch by inch their body disappeared, the tips of their fingers falling away. But all was well. Everything was peaceful, in the world. Peace. And calm. And Serenity. Quote: You must keep rolling until your student until they have successfully escaped! (That means, continue rolling the 100-sided dice until you get the correct ESCAPE response). They say that curiosity killed cats and somewhere in Zurines mind the thought echoed that the same could be said for padfeet - because while Zurine knew, knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that going through that doorway and following the clansmen she'd seen enter it was wrong..she just couldn't help but do it anyways.
Perhaps it was the feeling echoing from the passageway as it led downward's, the essence of fear that felt..old somehow which drew her onward, or maybe it was the knowledge that some of her fellow students were also making their way down behind her. Either way Zurine wasn't about to turn back. The smooth stone slabs made the descent easy enough, though with every steps Zurine became more and more aware that she really wasn't supposed to be there but she'd come far to deep to turn around now and really she doubted she would anyways. The dirt floor and any residual warmth that it might contain disappeared suddenly and the cold of the new stone floor all but crawled up through her shoes and into the bones beneath. It was eerie and disturbing but not nearly as disturbing as the way the fear seemed to be alive down here, almost breathing in a predictable and chilling pattern.
And if that wasn't creepy enough then the drawings that Zurine glimpsed on the walls cemented it in her mind. It was clear the way the clansmen had worked to destroy the human world - Zurine didn't have any sympathy for humans and their world...not really but she had been brought up knowing that they were necessary. If hte human world was destroyed where would they harvest fear from? What would happen to Halloween Town? That question was far to deep for Zurine to contemplate for the moment and there was a goodly chance she was far off base, perhaps she would consider it and formulate and answer later on.
When she had finished exploring this obviously forbidden area on the isle of Famine. And then suddenly there was no more going down and it seemed that she had found the very end of things, an alcove was before her and she thought perhaps that was where the fear was coming from. One step closer...
And then she saw it, the symbol far below surrounded by more strange symbols and the dizzy, nauseous feeling that stopped her in her tracks as pain and agony doubled her over. In horror she watched as parts of her started to dissipate, to flow towards the strange symbol below, and through the haze of pain Zurine had this horrible feeling that there wouldn't be any coming back from this dissipation...
And for a few moments Zurine thought maybe that would be okay - she even felt pretty good about things, she'd be a guardian of the clan in a way that wasn't possible with a physical body...but wait no, that thought was wrong and Zurine snapped out of the delirium and came back to herself realizing just how close she had come to giving in completely.

[ENTERING]
The very moment after Shenny entered the room she realized it was a wrong idea. No. It was probably A VERY WRONG IDEA. The sorceress felt Fear, an incredible amount of fear of a very strange sort... it wasn't the fear you could feel from the student, or even a professor, neither was it a kind of fear emanated by plants or pets. That fear was strong, thick, and almost solid. Shenny had a weird feeling she could literally touch it with her own hand, as it was sort of a solid substance. And there was something else about this fear energy... it smelled history. It was very, very, very ancient, like she was time travelling to the dawn of Halloween world.
A dark room appeared to be just an entrance to what was a huge stairway carved in rocks; their texture was quite different from the regular landscape of Famine caverns. It wasn't a common limestone, but rather a hard rock, very old one. Shenny couldn't help feeling it is the heart of the Famine, the original centre of the land, and the whole island around appeared across it much later.
Shenny walked downstairs, her legs making a loud noise no matter how hard she tried to walk softly, the stone slabs and the cave walls appeared to create pretty good acoustic system. The place was old, and most precisely abandoned: small and large grabs of soil were lying on the slabs like somebody was eating the entire ground and left a mess after the dinner. The temperature was going insane: it was quite warm and cold a moment later. The more she moved, the clearer was the Fear: it was pulsating, like a heartbeat or a breath of an enormously huge animal lying downstairs and waiting for the prey. Shenny stopped frozen. For a moment she was thinking, if that could be true. What is that's really an insanely huge and ancient predator having its nest there? It would explain, why the area is closed and forbidden, and why that Fear energy feels so ancient. A... Dragon?..
Shenny looked aroung seeking for anything like, you know, a sign. She noticed the walls were painted and carved picturing various horsemen, though, in a quite archaic style. There were images of their purposeful apocalypse: plague, hellfire, famine, tortures, pain, etc. Shenny tried to combine everything she had heard about horsemen and their history in her head; it would really help, if she has heard more. No, nothing about a dragon there... And even if there WAS a dragon, supposed to be the source of their destructive power, wouldn't it rather belong to all the clans? And thus might be placed at the central spire she had seen upon their arrival to the clans' world?
Anyway, something in her mind was telling her nothing really bad could happen to her here. Aleria went this way, so, if she's in trouble she might need help, and there was a silhouette of the horseman who went here before Aleria, too. And also, there were plenty of students on the island, so if a couple of them would be gone missing, they would probably start to look for them sooner or later... oh, but may be they wouldn't really be interested in this...
Anyway, stop hesitating. Shenny strengthened her will, and moved further.
At the very end of the stairway there was something like a natural alcove, the ghoul stepped in... and a moment later Shenny stood frozen, as if billions of fire and ice needles pierced every inch of her body. She couldn't move or step, further or back. It was nothing like she's ever experienced, as if all the possible feeling were there, in her mind, at the same time. It was orgasm, and torture, pain and happiness, sadness and indifference. She felt like she's floating somewhere in the outer space, and all the stars were gazing at her; a feeling of absolute overexposure to something genuinely Other that was going to learn her to the very last fear particle. The ghoul was overwhelmed by a colossal blast of Fear; it was torturing her body and, what's worse, her mind. Finally she manages to move her eyes a very bit down, - and that simple move felt like an eternity of endless efforts for her, - to see what was the reason of that incomprehensible fear power.
Alcove was located at the very edge of the cliff; a dark abyss was lying below. Deep, deep down the darkness was defeated by the hordes of fireflies coming from the heart of this cavern, and probably the whole island: Four Clans symbol. It was far away, and very near at the same time; even being in her normal state of mind, Shenny would never be able to recognize the exact distance, just a quick glance in its direction would be enough to cause nausea. The symbol was surrounded by numerous glyphs, it was humming and pulsatin, as it was a living creature itself, and the sense of its life was so imminent that everything around, the ground, the stairs, Shenny's own body looked like dead puppets near living person.
The Fear radiating from the symbol was insane. Shenny could see her body going blank; she felt her nail were fading away, her fingers crumbling to hundreds of disconnected fear particles... She could no longer sustain her form, and the fear she consisted of, was magnetized by much more powerful source lying down in the abyss. Oddly enough, it didn't bother Shenny anymore: the reality before her eyes began to swim; her ears were alarming her mind with the strange loud noise of buzzing and bubbling, so loud that her eardrums were going to explode. Shenny tried to grasp something to steady herself, but failed.

Shenny could no longer see herself or the alcove around... she was ready to find herself fading away completely, her very existence ending, but instead she appeared to fall down somewhere else, between time and spaces. Was it a hallucination?.. Could it all be a dream?... Could it be just extremely effective plant in a Crop's room, and she's lying there drugged in a total blackout?..
Strange colours and visions were floating beneath her. She was seeing people, a lot of people walking right into the room... judging by their clothes she realized they were horsemen. It probably happened long, long ago... For a moment Shenny noticed she could think. She could think clearly, like her mind was now emotionless and completely separate from her body floating somewhere between realities and seeing things.

The flickering images kept floating and floating: horsemen were coming downstairs and entering the room... some of them were gazing down in the abyss... some were carrying large crates and cartons... and there were so many of them, so many... Shenny didn't even notice the alcove was that big to allow them all stand here, but it was definitely hard to judge distances in this place.

But she could think, she could still analyse, she could observe, and that was probably a good news. This revelation somehow was that steady thing she was looking for. Shenny started to think, as hard as she could: she was trying to remember faces and names, situations and dialogues. A hot day in the human world during the Conquest trial; that giant hot thing in the sky; Invictus the jerk, heir to the Conquest; introductory at the Assembly hall and Arel the ever insecure secretary; Zar in his fabulous outfit, and Aleria, such a beautiful demon ghoul; Malodore the plague doctor and Bulbous with his body colonized by moths...
It helped. First, her mind managed to return to her body. She could see with hew own eyes again, she could hear, and she could smell. Next were emotions: she realized bow panicked and terrified she is, but still she felt it from a distance, like she was watching herself under the depth of water. Finally, she managed to move her hand a bit, she was trying, trying hard. One more inch. And one more. Now the head. The sorceress turned her head from the abyss. Now... her legs. Left. And right. And left again. And right. She was on a right way, soon enough she managed to return her conciousness and full control of her body.
Shenny was coming back, up the stairs. She still was feeling the waves of the powerful fear from the symbol, but it wasn't overwhelming her anymore. The ghoul didn't run, but was slowly climbing all the way back; she was feeling extremely tired, and not only physically, but mentally as well. She need rest. Just rest. She will think it over later: at the moment she simply can't think.

Rafael never would have found this place at all if his friends hadn't pointed it out. He was -- to pardon the pun -- rather near-sighted about a lot of things, and he had spent far too much time lately being confused, annoyed, and uneasy.
The Isle of Famine was really not agreeing with him.
Pushing his glasses up his nose, the rat-boil made his way into the corridor, walking slowly. He felt...something. Something bad. And then, suddenly, before he could do anything -- it happened. The blast of FEAR hit him and he stood frozen in place, feeling a terrible nauseating feeling well over him.

A buzzing filled his ears. He threw out a hand, trying to steady himself; his tail lashed behind him as he nearly lost his balance. The pain was terrible. Sudden, nauseating, completely all-consuming. He clutched at his head and doubled over, feeling shivers run down the length of his body.
What...what the....
"Alchemy?" He panted out, feeling the effects of fear pulling through his body.
This...this is exactly what was happening to those Scareons from class, right?

As his FEAR poured out of him, Rafe struggled against the pain, but it was too much. It felt like he was being torn apart, and he succumbed to the agony as he fell to his knees, pitching forward onto the ground. His glasses slid from his nose and he scrambled to retrieve them as he collapsed in pain.
Why? Why was this happening to him?
All around him, he could hear others suffering a similar fate, but everything seemed muted by the incessant buzzing in his ears and the terrible pain in his body. This...this wasn't right. This wasn't fair.
Is this what Herryk had warned him about?
Inches from his nose, he could make out markings on the floor -- angry red markings that seemed to glow and throb and pulse and all of them radiated around a single point. What did any of this mean? He struggled to put his glasses back on, and the effort was like running his hands through a meat grinder.

Rafael lay prostrate on the ground, trembling and trying to sort out his thoughts. The terrible buzzing in his ears sounded like a swarm of angry bees, or locusts, or the sound of the sky being rent in half....
He shuddered.
Lying here being torn apart wasn't going to do anything but... get him torn apart. He needed to think. He needed to come up with a plan. He tried to sort out his thoughts.
It was so hard!
Every time he tried to formulate a plan, all he could think about was how much he hurt...and how he shouldn't have come here....and how upset his family would be......

Lying as he was on the floor, glasses askew, half-conscious with pain, he began to make out images. Others moving around him...horsemen. Carrying...things. He tried to make out what they were doing, tried to concentrate, but the images kept flickering and he wasn't sure of what he was seeing. Was he delirious? Was he just hallucinating all of this? He couldn't even tell.

He was almost certain that the horsemen he saw were real. It was hard to tell. He was only half certain that he, himself, was real.
Hazily, in the back of his mind, he remembered his family...what he wouldn't give to go back and crawl into bed with all of his siblings and take a long, hard nap right now...
...Why were there so many horsemen? Where were they going?
