(RP open to all pridelander cubs and juvies! There will be no posting order, just to keep things moving along at a nice pace)
--

"...Nothing gained!" Sia sang back to her light-pelted companion. "Listen, it's going to be brilliant! And we're not going to go alone. We'll get some of the other kids to come, too! Didn't your parents tell you that there's safety in numbers?"
The dark pelted little female bounded playfully across the dusty expanse and gave a squeaky roar to summon some of her friends and relatives from play. "Hey! Everybody! Listen up! I've got a new fun game for us all to play!" Her tail swished in excitement and behind her a small groan uttered forth. Some cubs were clearly not looking forward to this 'game' as she was. Rolling her dark red eyes, she smacked a paw playfully against her friend's shoulder. "Don't be like that. Atleast try to have some fun!"
Kito gave another groan. "We shouldn't be doing this. The adults will be so mad."
Sia, with a deep sigh, turned her attention to other cubs who might be more fun than her current companion. And then, lo and behold, she spotted one.
"Hey! You there! You want to play, right?"

She had hardly been expecting to be called out, having been mostly just minding her own business, walking about. Tala blinked, perking her ears and looking up at Sia curiously. She had heard the darker female when she first tried to call everyone's attention, but hadn't really listened. That was the funny thing about voice projection, it could just get your attention.
The red cub, did, however, like playing games. "Play what?" She asked, swishing her tail behind her. She hadn't yet noticed Kito, or she might have greeted the golden female.
-

Having been left to his own devices, in a place that seemed bustling with other cubs, Savassi was a bit shier than usual. mostly because he just didn't know everyone that well, yet. And he hardly wanted to walk about and bump into people, and make them dislike him! So the brown male was quite relieved when his sister presented everyone with something to pay attention to.
Still, there were just too many strange cubs around for him to verball respond, so all Savassi did was stand up and take a few steps towards his sister, tilting his head. What was she up to?

Dayo's ears perked up at her sister Kito's comment about adults getting mad. Whatever this was it sounded like trouble, and trouble was generally fun... The cub that had suggested a game was younger than her, but that didn't mean it couldn't be a fun game. She was pretty sure that the dark girl was one of Imara's kids, and Imara was all right. She could always help make sure her cubs wouldn't get into too much trouble. Dayo puffed her chest out a little at the thought of playing the role of the responsible bigger girl.
"What kind of game," she called. "I hope it's not a lame one."

"Hey, hey! I never come up with anything lame." Sia replied good-naturedly. "It's a sneaking game." Her enthusiasm was clear. "So if you think you are up for that, you are more than welcome to come! The more the merrier!"
Her eyes skipped over the three faces of those who seemed interested at the moment. "So Dayo, Tala? What do you say?" And then she spotted her brother and dashed across to where he sat all quiet and shy. She bumped her shoulder up against him and gave him an encouraging grin. "Come on, brother of mine! You have to come, too. You don't want to miss out on all the fun, do you?"
Kito, clearing her throat nervously, stepped forwards. "Um...who are we sneaking past, exactly?"
"One of the pride lions, of course! The one standing between us and our goal! Look, it'll be easy. We'll come up with a distraction so that he isn't looking our way and then we'll sneak by to that big rock, out-of-bounds thing." She pointed to a strange looking rock formation that was a good lope away.
"So?" Sia asked expectantly.

That was rather intriguing. A sneaking game? Tala was okay with sneaking. Once she had managed to sneak past a sitter while she was distracted with one of her siblings, and had gotten far enough to need to be taken home by a scout! If she were more arrogant, the red cub might brag about it.
"I'm game! Seems fun. Maybe we could make lots of noise. Or..." she'd suggest Tezcacoatl would be a good distraction, but it might be dangerous for him, and the snake wasn't around, anyways.
Savassi was a little embarrassed when his sister came over, if only because that might draw attention to himself. He laid his ears back and smiled sheepishly. Not wanting to look silly, he nodded. "Um, okay. I'll play."

"I'm the best at sneaking," Dayo announced and sidled up to her sister Kito, "We blend in!"
Their traditional prideland colouring made it easier to hide in the dry, yellow grass. She still had a lot to learn about sneaking and hunting, but as far as Dayo knew she was already awesome. It's hard to see your own blind spots after all.
"We can't make it too obvious," the little lioness said, wise from experience, "Mom always gets suspicious if we are too loud or too quiet..."
It was uncanny, really, the way mom and dad seemed to smell trouble before Dayo and her siblings had any chance to get into it. This seemed promising, however. With a large group of kids someone could always be used as bait... err... distraction. Much less chance to get pinned with the blame.

Sia looked pleased that her brother had agreed to come along. It would have been sad to go ahead without him, knowing that he'd be sitting here by himself. She gave him another happy nudge as she circled back around everyone.
"Any suggestions would be great! She added, turning her head to look first at Tala and then at Dayo who had moved to join her sister.
Kito gave a nervous nod. "She's right. Dayo is a good sneaker."
"Okay." Sia continued. "Well...it could go either way, I guess. This lion isn't our dad so maybe he lacks their...their keen senses! He might also be dumb. He did look a bit dumb." Her dark paws padded as she thought. "So maybe a bit of noise might work? Someone - or two someones - could go up and tell him something to distract him, but they'll need to be able to get up to where we are before he gets un-distracted." She wrinkled her nose.
Kito opened her mouth but Sia hushed her with a wave of a paw. "I think it'll be best if you stuck with the non-distraction team, Kito."
"Oh." The golden female replied, sitting down.
"Have we got any volunteers for the distraction team? I don't mind going but if I do, someone has to lead the second team."

"We can be in the sneaky team together," Dayo said and gave her sister a friendly head butt, "And if anyone sees us we can say we're playing follow and got lost in the grass."
The young lioness spent an awful lot of time coming up with creative excuses for being somewhere she wasn't supposed to be. She got some use for them at times, but she made sure she'd never have to run out. Re-using excuses was no good... Especially if you forgot and tried to use the same one on a lion that had heard it before.

"Okay!" Sia replied enthusiastically. "You and Kito can be the sneaking team. Me and Tala will try and join up with you as soon as we can. It'll take us no time at all to make sure this scout isn't looking your way and then, when he's fully distracted we'll come and join you!"
She giggled and, with a small nod at Tala, pointed at the rock. "Okay, we'll meet you there."
And she was off across the grass, not waiting a moment later.
Kito watched her go and then stood, turning to look at Dayo. "I'll follow you, Dayo. You're the best at this! I'll do what you do." She looked nervous but there was a smile on her face.
Meanwhile, the unsuspecting scout came into view. His name was Jemadari.
Sia slowed as he came into view and said in a lower voice: "okay, here goes nothing. We'll need to get him distracted enough that he leaves this spot. Think we can do it?"

Dayo watched Sia go, and readied herself for some serious sneaking. She looked over her shoulder to see if Kito was following suit, and then realised that they'd forgot one of the cubs. The brown male seemed timid, but he had said he wanted to join the game so it'd only be fair to assign him to a team.
"Yo, flower butt," she hissed, not out of malice, but simply because she couldn't remember his name, "If you want to join the sneaking team you'll need to keep up. Rub some dirt on your tail tuft first."
She illustrated her point by rubbing some dirt on her pale front legs, making them a shade darker.
"Less visible, see," she whispered and gave him a conspiratory wink before stalking off in the grass. He'd follow if he wanted to, but now he was invited at least.

(ty for reminder <3;; )
"Flower butt?" Savassi frowned slightly, and looked self-consciously back at his behind. "My name is Savassi." He protested, weakly, but didn't have enough of a backbone to sound anything but sheepish. Just like he didn't protest when she told him to dirty up his tail, as much as he found it unecessary. There was so little white! If anything were to be spotted, it wouldn't be that, it would probably be his dark brown fur...
But, anyways, he obediently wiggled his tail around in the dirt, successfully making it a dusty, tan shade. And when they set off, he did his best to follow without letting himself trip up, or anything of the sort.
Tala, for her part, was quite happy with joining Sia in the distraction team. Sneaking for her didn't always work too well, anyways. Too red. Maybe if she was near clay, and already a little dusty and paler. "So, how are we distracting him? Do we just yell, or should we be more subtle?" Tala thought it was best to go for subtlety, considering they needed to get away and rendezvous with the others.
"Maybe we could get him to go investigate something?"

[hrm, despite the fact that I should have got a notice saying there was a response in this thread, I did not. I am so sorry guys ;; *let the team down* ]
Kito wiggled nervously and watched her sister rub some dirt onto her fur, showing Savassi what should be done about covering his pretty bright markings. It seemed a shame to sully them. It was nice to see some brightness of colour amongst all the golds and blacks. Even still, she copied her sister's actions, dropping to the ground and rolling in the dust until clouds rose into the air to choke her lungs and sting her eyes.
When she looked up again it was to see Savassi preparing too and, with a small giggle, she wiggled closer.
"I'm...sort of nervous." She admitted. "What if we get caught? Won't we be in a lot of trouble?"
Meanwhile, Sia turned to glance at her new partner-in-crime, a small smile on her face. "That sounds like a plan. What do you think? Maybe we saw a stranger? Or heard some strange noise? Or..."
But it was too late for thinking. Their voices had been heard and Jemadari had turned to see who was approaching. His ears lifted as he spotted the young ones. "Hey there, what are you doing so close to borders, hm? Won't your parents be wondering where you are?"
Sia gave Tala a meaningful look as she drew to a halt, peering up at the large male. "We came looking for a grown up. Tell him, Tala."

"Ok, Savassi," Dayo whispered, "I'll try to remember that."
Dayo was taking this sneaking business very seriously. Her super serious sneaking ended up looking exaggerated, and she probably seemed more suspicious than if she would have just walked through the grass normally. But luckily no one seemed to be looking their way. The decoys must e doing their job. She was curious about the diversion, but kept her eye on the target - the rocks.

Quick-witted as she was, Tala wasn't quite ready to have responsibility thrust upon her all of the sudden! They hadn't had time to properly discuss a diversion when the grown-up came over, and then Sia had decided she would explain the situation.
Oh well! To her credit, she managed not to look too lost, and once she started talking, Tala might even look pretty convincing. "Well, you seeeee... we came looking for a grownup because we saw a couple hyenas over, that way!" She turned and pointed with her head in a mostly random direction. Deeper into the lands, and not so that Jemadari would come across their other friends.
"You should hurry and chase them off, before they does something bad!" The cub who cried wolf. Or hyena. They were sort of similar! She tried to seem very urgent, so hopefully this grownup would hurry off without much more questioning. She even managed to convincingly shudder once contemplating a hyena 'doing something bad'.
Savassi frowned, not quite sure how he felt about getting into a lot of trouble. "I guess our parents might put us in time out for a bit... but I think we'd be okay?" He suggested, and followed after Dayo. The male in the group clearly didn't seem to have his heart as deep into this sneaking as she did, and sort of wandered after her. He definitely looked like a half-hearted sneaker, distractedly crouching a bit lower than usual.

[Sorry for delay guys ;; I figure we can maybe end this RP once Jemadari has gone and the cubs have made their dash across to the 'out-of-bounds' place - what happens after can be a mystery~~ XD So maybe one more post each?]
Jemadari blinked, startled. "Hyenas?" He glanced between the two cubs and then across to where the red one had indicated. "Are you certain?" He took a step in the direction Tala had indicated and then paused to look over them both once again.
"Uh huh." Sia replied, trying to look afraid. "Big ones! Bigger than us!" Which, to be fair, could mean anything from a juvenile hyena to an adult. "What if they cause trouble? What if they hurt someone?" She made her eyes big and pleading as if to further enhance the point. She'd never seen a hyena before but the Pridelands was always filled with tales of how mean and vicious they were.
"No one will get hurt." Jemadari promised. "I'll go and take a look and see what is going on. But you both have to promise to go back to your parents. Its not safe here - not with hyenas lurking." He glanced around him as if to see if there was another scout nearby. Unfortunately there was not.
"We promise!" Sia blurted - perhaps with a little too much excitement.
"Right. Off you go then. Quickly now." And Jemadari gave them one last look before making haste across the lands.
"That was amazing, Tala!" Sia replied. "Okay, let's go catch up with the others before he realises he was tricked!" She giggled at the idea of it.
--
Kito scurried after Dayo, trying to keep as low as possible and tripping up over her paws as she did so. Her heart was pounding hard but so far all seemed to be going well. There were no adults in sight and surely they were getting closer to their target?
She slowed and risked a peek and saw the golden shape of Jemadari moving away. "I think they did it!" She squeaked. "Maybe there won't be any trouble after all!" And she quickened her pace again, pausing to check that Savassi was still okay.
"Now maybe no one will know!" She exclaimed. Although, even as she said it, it felt too good to be true.
