He really hated parties, and even more so gala events. It was the simple fact that he didn't quite fit in, he was normally the youngest person at such events and thus was left to his own devices. Those devices normally consisting of answering peoples questions about school and grades as well as aspirations for a future career, all of them asked in a manner which said how little the person really cared about the answers. It was all a neatly organized song and dance that everyone performed all while looking their very best, though some still didn't understand the concept of light make up or to cut back on the glasses of champagne. He really disliked these events though that wasn't to say he didn't know just how to behave, and to also glean whatever information he could from the chattering adults.

He didn't know why he'd agreed to go, other than the fact his mother seemed rather persistent in the fact he come tonight as if it were something important, he didn't like these events and was sure he could find better ways to spend his evening. But the simple fact that his mother was adamant about him going had him washing, toweling his hair dry (he refused to damage his hair with a hair dryer), and dressing in appropriate clothing before writing a note out for Lily telling her where he was and asking her to take care of Cadha for him.

The drive through the city, due to traffic, was annoying but he managed to arrive at the event in good time. Stepping out of his car, truck really, he offered the keys to one the valets hired for the night and stared up at the museum. His mother had only gone so far as telling him where the event was, nothing else had been mentioned to him. For a moment he wondered what his mother wasn't telling him, perhaps it was some new art collection and the gala was a charity event as well as a showing. He'd been to one of those events last winter, the art was to draw in people while the charity was to get them to open their wallets and attract all the rich in the city who liked to be charitable (mostly to gain more attention and such). But it could simple be some charity event hosted here, in order to fit all the people, with no new art collection to be seen. He was hoping against that idea, he'd like to at least have something to focus his attention on aside from chattering, gossiping, adults even if they offered good information once in awhile.

Joining the group of people on the red carpet who were chatting as they entered the museum he followed them inside. It was on the way in that he saw just what the event was for, it was a charity event to raise money to help homeless animals, banners stating the reason for the nights event were standing right inside the doors of the museum. At least it was a good cause, he couldn't think of many causes that were better than helping save homeless animals. Deciding to find his parents, and ask his mother if she'd only invited him since he was a new pet owner, he'd let them know he'd arrived safely.

Beyond the doors, and the banners, it seemed someone, or a group of someones, had gone to great lengths to transform the large main room of the museums into a dinning all with room to dance, brighter than usual lights, and a variety of other decorations which were sure to have many in awe. It was a wonder that this was just for animals, you'd think it was for something much more...high class like some fashion event or political. Beyond the tables, round save for one table that seemed intended for those hosting the event, was the grand staircase which lead to the second floor, where one could see a very large painting hanging front and center, was covered in bright red carpet with cords going up to the sixth step where a stand and microphone lay in wait for later use. For one single moment he wished he was old enough to drink, he didn't like speeches as most were boring to the point of falling asleep and hitting your head on the table, then remembered moments later what had happened the time he had drank - and gotten drunk. No...no drinking - ever.

Finally his gaze swept to where they had food, carvers and large amounts of meat, and other areas were set up. It seemed they'd gone all out really, the animals in the city must really need help to go all out to attract the people they no doubt had attracted with this insanity, they had different types of food from a full seafood lay out to carvers and meats and other things. "I really need to ask mom about this..."

He really hated these parties. Like, it was great that his parents (or his mom, mostly) wanted to spend her time helping out random charities and whatever else she could throw money at in the city, but he was only eleven and needed to get to sleep at a decent hour! Actually, he was really just bummed that he would have to spend his night here instead of out on the city, jumping from roof to roof and being awesome.

Okay, he wasn't really that awesome, but he was learning! He was doing his best to be awesome, or something of that nature.

But instead, Peter was stuck at some homeless animal charity gala or some such thing. There were too many people and they all seemed to want to coddle him on how adorable he looked in his little suit and his little tie and little shoes. Well, he was about to use his little feet to kick them in the shins.

Sometimes he was lucky and ran into kids his own age, or a bit older. He saw Sam from time to time, but not recently. And at an event like this, he doubted there would be any younger kids around to hang out with.

He'd arrived at the event just a short time ago, and he immediately sought out where the best phone reception would be, before happily noting that there was plenty of good service throughout the building. After that, it was heading over to the food to see what was good and what was gross. He didn't touch any of the green stuff, but he didn't mind pushing a few little sandwiches onto his plate. He'd stand around and eat at the table if he thought he could get away with it, but he knew he'd be shooed away if he hovered too long.

Luckily it seemed as though there was another boy around his age that was stuck there as well. He had to be, like, fourteen maybe. Peter wasn't sure but he looked young enough. He wasn't that much taller than him, at the very least!

"Ask your mom about what?" Peter chirped curiously as he came up behind the slightly older boy in between bites of crackers with some kind of cream cheese and smoked trout on top. He was wearing a bright, sky blue shirt with a diagonally stripped tie of white and black and blues under a fitted blazer. He was lucky he convinced his mom that he absolutely did not need to wear a vest, too!

It was rare to find someone his own age at these events, aside from Lily that is, it was near impossible to see someone younger than himself, due to school and bed times and such. Most parents wouldn't subject their children to late hours just to attend such a function, not to mention the boredom a child would face. So it was an obvious surprise when he heard someone speak to him, from right behind him, turning a little too fast he managed to catch his balance as slate eyes focused on the shorter and defiantly younger male.

"The exact reason for her inviting me here, and not telling me the cause of the evening. That along one or two other questions I have for her."

While the younger wore a striped of three colors and a blazer, with a light blue shirt, Alexandre wore darker colors, mostly, tonight. A long black coat reached just to mid thigh while under it was the suit itself with gold buttons, four of them in the formation of two rows each one containing two buttons. Under the suit he boasted a dark blue and light blue silk collared shirt and matching tie. A gold pin, for design, hung from the breast part of the coat, which had a pocket on either side with a gold button. The outfit, as usual, was name brand and tonight's brand of choice was Versace. It looked rather good on him,t he shirt and tie matching his eyes, while dark colors always seemed to look good on him.

"I wonder...why is someone so young out at such an event? It'll no doubt go on late into the evening." And seeing the others good he motioned him to follow, as if he were some star or very important person, and without waiting to see if he'd be followed he headed for the food. It was time to get something suitable to fill his stomach with, he hadn't eaten before coming here as he'd been busy with preparing and knew he'd be eating here.

Assuming the other was following he continued talking. "You can't be more than 10, and if so not by much, it's rather...odd. I've never seen someone younger than myself at these sorts of events." And he was sure it was due to most parents fearing their children would become out of control, or they'd over sleep in the morning and either be late for school or miss it. this was assuming the child didn't get so bored, considering these weren't exactly child friendly events, and feel asleep at a table or in a corner...or under a table.

Peter glanced up from his collection of food on the plate he was carrying around, finally looking the young man over for the first time. "Are you a prince or something?" he asked curiously, not thinking he himself would ever be comfortable wearing so many layers of fancy clothes like this guy was wearing. "Are you? Because that would be really cool. I'm not a prince. Not really. Just a Gallo," he chirped to the older boy, before stabbing a piece of pineapple with a toothpick and shoving it into his mouth. He nearly gagged, his face scrunched up in displeasure, forcing himself to swallow. "Ugh, I thought that was cheese... gross..." he coughed.

He made sure to poke at a real piece of cheese this time and popped it into his mouth. That was much better.

"Mom likes to use me as an excuse to leave early," he explained, taking a few steps around the other boy as if to circle him and inspect just what exactly he was wearing. "Aren't you hot?? That looks like a lot of layers... I mean, I'm just wearing this and I want to take it off. I wish mom'd let me wear a clip on, but she insisted that I wore this one," he grumbled, gesturing to the tie around his neck. "I feel like I'm being choked... don't you? I'm Peter. And I'm not ten. I'm eleven and a half! I'm going to be twelve in November. Well, the end of November, but that's not that far away."

Gosh! Just because he was short didn't mean he was only ten!

"How old are you? Twelve?" he asked, eyeing him curiously. He wasn't all that tall himself, so maybe he wasn't that much older than he was, even if he acted like he was, like, thirty.

That question stunned him, never before had someone asked him such a thing, it was a little absurd considering they didn't like in a country with royals nor did he appear to be such - did he? For a moment he thought over what could give the child such an idea before he found himself asking, a smile twisting his lips over the pineapple eaten by the other, seemed he didn't like that particular fruit. "No, why would you think I'm a prince?" And just a Gallo? Not a name he knew off the top of his hat but one he'd ask his mother about, likely it was one she knew. He didn't attend every event his mother and father did so he didn't know every name, he'd leave that to his parents.

"Ah, my mother never took me to these when I was younger. Bed times and the like." His mother was big on that, in bed on time and no going to events where he'd fall asleep. He hadn't started going till he was twelve and had a late enough bedtime that he could at least attend the events that where on Friday and Saturday evenings. He still would sleep in come next morning but it wasn't a school day so it was deemed alright.

Finding himself the center of inspection he turned his head to watch the child, and counter inspect. Shaking his head he found himself laughing, something soft but humor filled non the less. "No, I've gotten rather used to such things. If I need to I'll find a table and chair to put my coat over." Which he likely would do by evenings end. "My mother never let me get away with a clip on, I had to learn how to properly tie a tie when I was twelve." Meaning he was no longer twelve, that did away with the boys question on that being his age.

"Well then, a happy early birthday. And I will be eighteen in February of next year, so at present I am seventeen." And he knew, since the boy had asked, that he didn't look his age. He'd hope with how he was dressed that he looked more his age, apparently that wasn't the case. It wasn't something he had set out to do but right now he hoped his clothing would have made him look his age, not twelve.

Reaching the food stations he set about finding himself a large plate and began the profess of filling it up, mostly with fruits and salad. A second plate was taken and found itself loaded with some chicken and pasta, nothing too rich tonight as it would be a long evening and he didn't care for stuffing himself on food. Alexandre did watch what he ate and how much of it he consumed, he liked to eat healthy it had nothing to do with appearance. Looking around, two full plates in hand, and then glanced to the child. "Perhaps we should find a table now."

"I dunno," Peter shrugged as he poked around at the plate of food he was carrying around. "You look like a prince. All dressed up like that... long hair..." he observed, looking Alexandre over again. "Kinda snobby looking like I'd imagine a prince would look, too. But if you're not, then you could probably pass as one. You're not a spy, are you? Spies are getting younger and younger every day. Do you have some kind of weapon hidden under your coat?"

Okay, so he had a bit of an active imagination, but he meant no harm by it! He was just curious. Hopefully this guy wouldn't be too offended by the questions and rambling.

"Yeah, I have a bedtime, too. She makes me take a nap if we have these kinds of parties to go to, even if we leave early." He didn't dare mention how his babysitter couldn't make it that night due to a death in the family and he was there because of that... But he really did go to these parties from time to time.

He wrinkled his nose at the comment of having to be able to tie a tie. Yeah, he probably could if he really tried, but it was just so annoying. His mom could do it just fine, so he'd let her deal with it a few more years... or forever.

"That's a really early 'happy birthday'," he snickered in amusement, before laughing outright at the announcement of Alexandre's age. "Well obviously you're seventeen, if you'll be eighteen next year!" Not that he thought it was really that surprising to be told. A lot of people wouldn't be able to pick up that they had to subtract a year... even above his grade. "You don't look seventeen. I still think you're a twelve-year-old spy... from... Russia?" he suggested, eyeing the boy with mock suspicion.

"And what happens when we find a table? Will you have to hide under it until you're ready to strike out at your victim??" he rambled, although totally willing to follow him to a table. He had nothing better to do with his life at the moment.

"A spy?" He asked, wondering where that came from, it truly had him lost. If only the child knew what he could do and what weapon he could summon. It wouldn't even take much, just a shifting in clothing and he could summon forth a pretty big paint brush. Ok, so that sounded a bit lame, a big paint brush, but it was a good weapon. He really couldn't wait for it to change though, become something else, something more. It was the simple fact he was curious and wanted to know what his brush was to become, would it in some way represent his personality, his previous weapon stages, or both? His uniform after all seemed to reflect who he was as a person. "Mmm...I guess I could be a prince if I wanted, at least in looks. But no horse, I don't ride." And if he tried he figured he'd have issues getting on and from there the possible issues were endless. He really had no confidence in something like, and no desire to attempt to ride a horse. It worked out quite nicely.

"I never went as a child, my mother never would have let me. Not that I can say I minded, I find these things lacking to say the least." It was annoying when people ignored you or all asked the same questions, questions that said they didn't care but were just going through the motions of acting like they cared. Add to it most were bad actors, or actresses, it was really something to grit your teeth over and smile. "What do you do at these events? Seeing as you are on your own, your parents are elsewhere and you are aside from me the only child." And yes, he was referring to himself as a child even though he had a few years on the other.

Laughter escaped him as he looked at the other, he really was amusing. In a way most children weren't, most were annoying and rambled about friends and the he said she said bit. Or they talked about other trivial and childish, take this to mean simple, things. But there was humor instead and not annoying, simple, stories that would drive him to the point of wanting to power up and do a little energy draining.

"No, I assure you, I'm not some spy and I'm not twelve. I drove here myself, and even in Russia twelve year olds don't drive." More laughter as he ruffled the others hair. "We will find a table and eat and watch everyone and talk. It's much better than standing or walking around the whole evening, that will only tire you and your feet out." And even now these events wore him out, the loud talking filling a room and echoing always left him with something of a headache and just drained. Finishing filling his plate he motioned the younger to follow him. "Something in a corner perhaps, we can do some people watching while we talk. You can learn the most interesting things from time to time." And yes he was promoting spying on other people, in other words eves dropping on conversations. Heading off to find such a table, where they could observe, and not be really noticed, he weaved in and out and around people and table alike while making sure the other didn't get lost.

Peter shrugged when asked what he did, munching on some little finger sandwiches he'd picked up. "Talk to people... eat the food. Discuss politics," he said with a shrug. Okay, so he didn't know many, many details about politics, but he could still have a general conversation with them. And then look up on his smart phone to see if they were just pulling things out of their a** or if they had their facts right.

"What do you do?" he wondered, following Alexandre to the corner of the room so they could find a table to sit at. "And you don't know that! If you're a spy then you're secretly trained to drive at a young age," he pointed out, wrinkling his nose at the ruffling of his hair, but he didn't say anything about it. It wasn't as though it hurt him or anything, so... big deal. And it wasn't like it was his mother fussing over him and wanting him to look oh so cute.

Once they did find a table, Peter hopped up onto the seat, folding his legs underneath it to give himself a little extra boost up to the table, leaning over it as he continued to pick at the items he'd collected. "What do you learn about people? What about me?" he chirped suddenly, turning to Alexandre with a critical stare. "What have you learned about me?"

Not that he thought this other twelve-year-old was going to say anything horrible about him, but he was curious as to what he'd say about people he saw.

"I would think, in a need to blend in, that a spy wouldn't be able to drive unless they were legally of age to do so. Though I guess I could be wrong and you know better." Playing along as he took his seat and set his plate down. A glance to his company for the evening, or for now at least. "I normally watch people. The few who come to talk to me like asking about school and if I'll become a lawyer like my mother. Most don't care beyond that, or even really care about my answers aside from when I answer if I plan to be like my mother. It's rather annoying and quite fake."

Noting the childs legs up under him he smiled, it was something he used to do as well. Being short as he was he did it whenever he could in private just so he sat up to level with things better. He'd trained himself to stop doing it in school and other places where he would like to do it, just so he felt more comfortable.

"These people you can learn a lot about. Sometimes business deals, who looks like they'll partner with someone else or back them in something. You can learn some political views of theirs as well but you can also learn, in some rare cases, if they are cheating on a spouse. Just a few things I've learned in the past while at various events. As for you...the two things I think are a sense of humor and imagination and maybe a little bit of a rebel, at least against this sort of thing. Tell me if I'm close." Using a fork he'd unwrapped from a napkin in order to eat some of the food he'd gotten himself.

It was almost surprising that Peter would enjoy himself at one of these events. But lo and behold, Alexandre, the child spy, was just young enough, yet still intelligent enough to keep his attention longer than a few minutes. Peter listened to him as he spoke about the different ways people spoke to each other, doing his best to try and get the hang of 'learning' about people more than just superficial emotions.

He found it was especially interesting to watch other people watching others' interactions. Some people obviously only acted nice to each others' faces... It was the first time Peter really took the time to watch how they spoke to each other, what they did before and after the encounter.

So when his mother started heading his way to let him know it was time to go, Peter was surprised at how much time had passed! Even though he felt exhausted, he was almost disappointed that he had to go.

"Maybe we'll run into each other again...?" he wondered, grinning at Alexandre. "And don't worry," he added under his breath, "I won't let anyone know you're a spy."

He waited only long enough for a response before turning to head out with his mom. It had been a surprisingly fun night. He wouldn't mind them so much as long as he could look forward to running into Alexandre again.
