Hamaniya was talking a walk on her stubby legs, intent on feeling satisfied from it. Throughout all that walking she had done with her mother before coming to live with Daddy, she had come to really enjoy a good walk. As young as she was, she never got terribly far before she grew tired and wanted a nap, but she was proud to be a fairly active cub in the high class. There was no relaxing for her, nope!
Stifling a yawn, she did her best to sing to herself, keeping her little paws going before she grew too tired to walk. Someone would probably carry her back to her father, if he didn't find her first, once she stopped walking. She didn't quite know her limits yet, but that would come with time.
It was probably an odd sight, seeing a little lone cub walking around on her own, but she was smart enough to keep herself within the more central area of the pride.

Halili was wandering to and fro today, sometimes carrying messages, sometimes just walking. She was only a juvenile after all, and did not have as many chores to complete as adults of the low class. It didn't surprise her in the least to see a cub wandering around, at least, not in this part of the pride. The older lioness wasn't certain who exactly the younger girl was, but she figured she'd find out soon enough! "Well hello there!" she called out cheerfully.

Hamaniya's bright blue eyes blinked, as she hadn't really been expecting to run into anyone! Sure, sometimes an adult would check to make sure she wasn't lost, but she wasn't expecting someone around her age....kinda. She seemed older than Hamaniya, and probably more experienced.
"Hiya," Hamaniya said, the shock starting to wear off. Time to make a friend! "Who're you? Are you here often? I haven't seen you much before...." Whoops, she started to ask too many questions too quickly. One of these days Hamaniya should learn to be a lady, but today wasn't going to be that day.

Halili smiled back at the cub. "I'm Halili and I'm everywhere often," she answered. It was true. She spent a lot of time running messages all throughout the pride. It was a great way to learn her way around - not only the locations but the people likely to be in them.
"I haven't seen you before either. What's your name?" she countered.

"Woah," Hamaniya said, glancing around. Everywhere often? Then....how had she not seen her yet? Hamaniya would admit to herself she wasn't that observant, and normally was more concerned about her movements.
"I'm Hamaniya! Yareha Afaer is my daddy." Hamaniya didn't think to mention her mother, since Daddy was the one that was usually out being social. And getting in trouble, but Hamaniya didn't understand that herself. Daddy was perfect in her eyes!
"How're you everywhere often?" Hamaniya asked curiously.

Hamaniya, hm? She seemed like a nice enough cub. Even though Halili's own father was known to avoid discussing people, she'd heard the name Yareha Afaer before. Usually with a negative association. She didn't understand all that was involved, but the juvenile had the idea that she probably shouldn't mention Hamaniya's father to Uchanjaa.
"My daddy is Uchanjaa," Halili replied. "And my mother Kibetinyota." She smiled at the cub's question.
"Because I am of the low class, I run messages all over the pride to help people out. So I might be sent by a Priestess to the eastern border, then from the eastern border to the northern, and so on," she explained.

"Oooohhh...." Names. Names that Hamaniya might remember later, if she tried really hard. It was easier to remember what Halili looked like than the names of her parents, so maybe she'd recognize them once she saw them.
"You like running messages around?" It sounded nice, since Hamaniya liked to walk around a lot, but....she liked to walk where she wanted to go, and perhaps wouldn't like it if someone told her to go somewhere specific.
"Do you like it?" She hadn't ever heard of something like this in her relatively short life.

"I enjoy helping out the pride however I can," Halili replied with a smile. Her expression widened into a grin as she continued. "But I do like running messages in particular because I get to run everywhere in the pride."
The juvenile thought for a moment, then made a show of looking around before she leant in confidentially. "It's harder than you'd think, being a runner. You have to run fast, to get the message there quickly, but not so fast that you arrive out of breath. You have to compose yourself so that you can recite the message clearly and smoothly. You cannot forget a single word either. Not everyone can do it."
Not everyone would do it either, but Hamaniya didn't need to know that.

"Wooooow." Hamaniya was impressed! Being as young as she was, she didn't fully comprehend the different classes and what that entailed in the lives of the lions in that class. All she knew was that she was treated pretty well, and was a little spoiled because of it.
"That sounds like a lot of fun though!" Hamaniya's face looked stricken for a moment. "Not...not that I wanna take your job! It just sounds more fun than wandering in circles, but....I tire really easily." This little chat she was sharing with Halili made it possible for her to rest, perhaps enough to go home before she hit her limit. One day she'd figure this out on her own.
"I think that's really cool, Halili," Hamaniya said with a smile.

Idly, Halili wondered what class Hamniya was born into. No, wait, that didn't seem right. She thought she recalled something about the cub and her siblings coming into the pride from somewhere else. In which case, it was entirely possible that every cub in the litter was in a dfifferent rank. The whole idea was so foreign to Halili, but it rang true in her memory. Still, weird. And she was pretty sure that neither Hamaniya nor any of her siblings were low class. The juvenile was certain that she'd have met them before now if so.
"It can be a lot of fun," she agreed. "But you're right, it takes a lot out of you." She smiled at the cub. "No one will make you do a job that you're not suited to, you know. That's not how the pride works."

"Hmmm.....I wonder what I'll do when I get bigger." Hamaniya hadn't really thought about it. At times it felt like she was going to be this little....forever! "Were you told what to do? How did you get to be like this?"
Part of her wondered if she liked what she would have to do....as she didn't realize that being in high class, she was under no obligation to do much of anything when she grew into her prime.

"I think you're the only one who can say for certain," Halili replied, still unsure what class the cub had. "I volunteered for this, but I would have had to do something anyway, being a low class lioness."
Hamaniya had been here for a while by now. The juvenile hoped the cub understood enough about the Mwezi'Johari. She didn't have anything against her rank, but she certainly didn't want to have to explain it to someone!

"Ooooh. I can't wait until I'm bigger to find out!" Cubs....didn't do much, and Hamaniya was smart enough to know that she didn't have enough energy to keep up with real work. Maybe she'd check with Daddy and see if there was anything she could do for him as practice.
"Wow, we're like opposites! I'm in the high class...." her voice drifted off as she kept thinking about things she really didn't need to. Halili probably wouldn't say anything to make her refocus, perhaps now knowing the class that the golden cub was in.

Halili blinked and winced mentally. The cub would be high class. Well, she was still a nice kid regardless. It wasn't her fault that she'd been placed so well.
"That's true enough," she replied. "With a rank that high, you'll be able to do almost anything you want." The juvenile could see how some of her fellows in rank found higher ranked lions to be...annoying, to say the least. But that was why she had volunteered to run messages - it was a job she enjoyed. As long as a slave enjoyed their work and found contentment in it, she had no reason to complain about her superiors.

"Woah..." Anything? Hamaniya's imagination didn't go terribly far, so she could only think about like...hunting. Or guarding. Or...or....whatever it was that all the other adults did (not that it was anything other than what she mentioned).
"You like your job, don't you?" Halili seemed happy enough....and Hamaniya did her best to stifle another yawn. She wasn't really tired! Not...not really.
