THE Forges

General setting: Deep, deep down, near the very base of the Clan settlement is a staircase that leads even lower, made of iron instead of marble. It leads to a giant, cavernous opening underneath where all the weapons and metals are forged and restructured. The area seems very mildly occupied though, mostly by Clans members who are working away, though the noise is very loud, the consistent clink of metal against metal.

OOC: EVENT ROLLS AND PROMPT MECHANICS:

- When your student has arrived in this setting, you can CHOOSE to roll a 100-sided dice at any point in time. You can only do this twice per RP you make. Match your dice roll to the results below for a prompt/ small reaction that your student may discover. RP out results accordingly.

1-20: You notice all around you, just on the ground, lying there, pieces and pieces of untamed rare and precious stones and metals, just ripe for the taking. Its too bad a Clans member is watching you...
21 - 40: You see a few weapons lying around, swords, sparse amounts of armour, but most of the crafting seems to be centered around making ornate jewelry. All jewelry is interestingly enough, very organic shaped.
41 - 60: The few swords you see lying around seem to have been made ages ago, many of them dusted and unpolished. You do notice a very unique weapon though, a long black scythe, still glinting in the light as if just newly made. It reminds you of an Heir's weapon... (IF YOU HAVE NOT ENCOUNTERED AISA, then the last clause is void).
61 - 80: You hear two clans members talking with each other, the conversation is not heated quite yet, but they seem to be at a dispute with something involving "only a week's time will tell"
81- 100: There is suddenly a loud ringing noise. All clans member suddenly stop what they are doing and kneel on the ground, in prayer. A few minutes later another chime, and they continue to work again. (see below for horsemen point prompt)
- Horsemen point prompt! You also see something glint next to you, but is it just a trick of the light? Roll a 6-sided dice. If odd you obtain one horsemen point! You can only redeem a max of two from all prompt prps/orps your student is in per OOC 24 hours. You can redeem these here and here!

Aurian hadn't been able to forget about the weapons she'd witnessed being created down in the Forges, under the island. It had been several days since her first visit and she still couldn't get the sleek curves and deadly blades out of her mind. Even the intricate jewelry acted as a lure - normally not a strong interest for the Reaper, but considering their current class, Aurian wouldn't mind another look at what the Death Clan created. Perhaps it could give her some ideas if Ylaria had them create another piece. It would be nice even to just compare what she'd learned against what she could see down here.

Sweat broke out as Aurian entered. She directed a glare over her shoulder at the lava pools. Despite doing her best to bypass the heat source, she couldn't escape the raised temperature down here, much less comfortable to her than the icy upper regions.

Now... which way had everything been, Aurian wondered. It was so easy to get turned around. Had the weapons been left of here, or had that been the jewelry?

... The jewelry, it seemed. Oh well. Not what Aurian had been hoping for, but she took the opportunity to sift through the pieces. Maybe she had a bias, but she kept lingering over pieces with sapphires or diamonds and wondering how much stronger than her brooch they must be. Pieces created by proper Death clan artisans would surely be much more effective than the first work of a visiting student. It made Aurian itch to try them out, but she managed to restrain herself.

Despite Aurian's interest in the jewelry, it couldn't hold her interest forever. She left with several ideas of other things to try if she had the chance, and perhaps a better overall understanding of the designs that might best enhance the gemstones. There had been a strong slant to organic designs that Aurian found appealing - perhaps there was a reason for that besides just the artisan's design aesthetic.

But Aurian was down here for the weapons, she reminded herself. Particularly if they had any scythes. She loved her own weapon dearly - it was a part of her. However, that didn't mean that she wouldn't ever upgrade, especially for something from the Death Clan.

She headed back towards the entrance, then tried a path leading off to the right. As she moved, a loud ringing noise filled the air. The few clans members she could see, both those hard at work and those clearly just visiting like Aurian, lowered themselves to kneel on the ground. As she had before, Aurian followed suit. She might not follow - or understand - their religion, but it seemed best to follow their actions. Staying standing might be considered rude, after all.

While on the ground, something shiny caught the light not far from Aurian. Risking a quick look around to see if anyone was paying attention, she stretched out to try and grab for it.

Her fingers closed around the glinting stone. Aurian grinned to see another one of the strange things. She quickly pocketed it and sat back on her heels, mimicking the prayer position of those around her.

Another chime sounded. The clans members rose from their kneeling positions and carried on as if nothing had interrupted them. Aurian scrambled back to her feet. She wondered if the workers down here had thought of investing in knee pads. The forges seemed hazardous to knee joints with all this kneeling. She had yet to see something similar above ground - but would be the first to admit that didn't mean it didn't happen. Maybe she should time this and see if the ringing happened on some sort of set schedule.

From the dorms Mitsu had gone in search of Hel wondering where she could be. Her path took her lower into a cavernous like area until the sounds of metal hitting metal could be heard. Curiously Mitsu looked around, her ears falling back to muffle the noise. It smelled different down here, hot but a little easier to handle than the incense that seemed to favor many of the other rooms on Death Isle.

It didn't seem like there were many students around this area, mostly horseman who were tirelessly working metal into weapons or other decorations that were far larger than mere jewelry.

As Mitsu's eyes drifted around she noted the swords lined up against the wall. Most looked forgotten, made and then abandoned. All except the Scythe in the corner. Hadn't she seen something similar before? She had only met Aisa briefly so she couldn't pin point why it was so familiar.

As she continued to walk Mitsu paused, her hold body jarred from the loud clanging noise. It seemed to bring all the horseman to a stop as they looked up and then knelt to pray. She watched them curiously for a moment unsure if she should join them but the noise resounded again and all the forge workers got back to their feet and resumed their work.

Confused Mitsu continued to look but spotted something shiny out of the corner of her eye.

Whatever Mitsu had seen vanished in the blink of an eye. She wasn't certain if it was the light glinting off a piece of armor or a sword or even something else. Now she would never know because she couldn't locate the source. Hopefully she would find Hel soon.

"Oooh, did you find something?" Aurian asked the ghoul who seemed to be looking around for something. "Or lose something?" Normally that would be the first assumption Aurian would make. But there was something about the Death island that instead seemed to make them find things. Aurian enjoyed it - it was much better than losing things instead. People got to be happy and surprised, instead of sad and angry.

Now, where to try looking next...? Those weapons had to be down here somewhere!

Oh! oh! They were here. Just out of sight of her starting position, Aurian found them. The swords were unimpressive - old and worn. And was that rust? Aurian wanted to cry for the poor things and then go hurt whoever had left their weapons in this terrible state.

Behind the swords, though, that was where the real beauty lay. A tall black scythe. Aurian was drawn slowly towards it, eyes locked on the blade. A shiver ran down her spine. Oh Jack, she was close enough to touch it. Did she dare...?

Maaaybe not. Aurian's rapt expression changed, brows drawing down and together. Her lips pursed in thought. It looked a little bit familiar. Like the weapon that the Heir, Aisa, had been carrying. Aurian had only met her the once, but the lady - and the weapon - made an impression. Aurian couldn't be sure if this was actually Aisa's scythe or just a look-alike... but definitely better not to risk it.

... It was so pretty, though. Aurian had such a terrible case of weapon-envy right now.

The ground in front of the scythe was littered with bright chunks of metal and sparkling gemstones. Aurian recognised many of the stones from the jewelcrafting that Ylaria had taught them. Oh, the things she could do with those now... But no, stealing was wrong! And also she was receiving a very suspicious glare from a Clans member. Aurian shot him her best innocent smile. He didn't seem to be buying it.

Aurian sniffed and pointedly looked away from the abandoned treasure. Really, someone needed to clean up down here. First, badly treated swords and now, precious materials left lying on the ground where anyone could trip over them. It was a matter of health and safety! (Also, it was very mean to tempt people like that.)

"No I haven't lost something but....umm..someone." This island was rather big despite how it looked from so far away. It was a maze at times and with Mitsu's misguided sense of direction she was easily turned around.

"Do you know how to get back to the library from here?" Maybe Hel went back there to look for her.

Oh no! Losing someone was far worse than losing something. Aurian's eyes were wide and her bottom lip quivered in sympathy. That had been her number one fear until recently, until she'd overcome it during meditation training.

"Yes, um, the entrance to the forges was behind us to the left a little," she told the other ghoul. "And then once you've back above ground, the library is big enough that you shouldn't be able to miss it."

See, this was another reason that Aurian was antsy about leaving for a new Clan. She knew her way around here by now - or to some places, at least. A new island meant getting lost many, many times.

"I hope you find your friend," Aurian said with a reassuring smile.
