Kayleena woke with a shudder. Her dreams had been less than pleasant. Her hooves lashed out blindly at her surroundings before striking a wall of rock. Pain exploded and the little mare cried out in shock and dismay. Kayleena winced as she refrained from kicking out again. Gently she pulled her legs in towards her body before standing shakily. She put a hesitant hoof out in front of her before placing another down on the ground. It was almost as if she was testing the terrain she found herself in. There was reasoning to her tentative steps though. Sometime during the night she'd woken to find that her vision had been taken from her. A severely knotted and secure blindfold stripped her of her sight and the usdia believed that she knew who had done this. Aggravation had quickly given way to frustration. She discovered that she couldn't reach the knot behind her mane nor could she try to use friction to guide the cloth to pull away from her eyes. In all essence - she was blind.

Kayleena stumbled again. She had tried to navigate her way around the cave that Daimhin had stashed her in for the time being and ended up falling more than enough times to cause her to doubt the wisdom to keep going. This blindfold was definitely Daimhin's doing. He was the stallion that had tricked her and brought her into his herd. She'd been cowed by the appearance of his herd mates as he had called them but there was no doubt that this herd housed a bunch of bloodthirsty killers. After she'd met Carmilla and Svanbjorn, Daimhin had ushered her out of sight into this cave. She'd tried to resist listening at first to his commands. It wasn't easy to do. Being at least a third of his size didn't help. Eventually she'd exhausted herself. Nothing had changed at that point. She turned away from Daimhin and gone to curl up in a pile of bedding before slumber overtook her.

Had Daimhin even mentioned going away? Kayleena sighed before she lay back down. She recalled the dangers that Daimhin had listed on their first arrival. There would be no protection for her if she went out bumbling around blindfolded. An easy picking is what she'd be for anything that she came across. No ... it was better to stay here.

Kayleena grumbled uneasily. The blindfold was starting to wear thin on her temper. Sure she was carefree. But at those times she wasn't as blind as a bat. She could see where she was going. The cloth that stole her vision kept her effectively bound as if she were tied down. Daimhin must've known that this would work. If it had been a trial well he now knew that he had positive results.

Her stomach rumbled loudly and the little usdia groaned softly. Did it ever occur to her captor that she needed to be fed? Tilting her head up Kayleena took in the scents around her. The fragrance of stale grass greeted her and she sighed. It would seem that he hadn't forgotten exactly about leaving a supply of sustenance. Kayleena carefully picked her way towards the direction that she caught the smell from. Lowering her mouth towards the ground she felt a tiny piece of grass p***k her skin and she sneezed. She lipped a few shoots of grass in a tentative manner, testing the product. Everything seemed fine and Kayleena grabbed a few more shoots. Her mind was in turmoil even with this small action. She'd been kidnapped but yet Daimhin was providing for her needs. Why was that? She shook the thought violently from her mind before continuing her meal. Now wasn't the time for such pondering.

She'd taken to pacing. Kayleena had figured out how many steps she could take between one wall and the other. It'd been a bit of a learning process. One misstep could have her falling down or running smack into the cavern wall. It'd happened a few times before she realized that keeping an accurate count of her steps reduced the risk, "One two three four."

On she would go counting out loud before turning around and repeating the process. She'd finished her meal and was now trying to use up the anxious energy she had coursing through her little body. She needed to stay fit if she was going to try to escape. A sensation of being watched had the mare cocking her head to the side before sighing softly. No one was there. Paranoia; just what she didn't need. A slight rasping sound echoed throughout the cave before Kayleena realized where the noise was emanating from. Apparently the blindfold wasn't the only thing that Daimhin had "given" to her. A pendant of some kind rested around her neck and Kayleena had yet to actually see what it was. She was still adjusting to the rustling sound it produced. Blinking her eyes underneath the cloth that covered them seemed pointless. She still couldn't see anything.

Kayleena walked awkwardly back towards the area that she knew that the bedding was in before settling down. Her gaze, although covered, turned towards what she believed was the entrance. She would hopefully hear Daimhin's return. Her heart rate settled as she lowered her head. Maybe a quick snooze wouldn't be a bad idea.

The blindfold had to go. Kayleena had struggled repeatedly to shift the blasted piece of fabric. No matter what she did though the tightly secured cloth refused to budge. The usdia let a small whimper of frustration pas through tightly clamped teeth. It was a sound of weakness and Kayleena hated herself for even giving any discernible sign that she was near a breaking point. There hadn't been much sign of Daimhin since he'd last checked in on her before and it seemed that no one else had located her from Mahapadma.

Stepping lightly Kayleena's hoof struck a loose pebble and she gave the stone a petulant kick and listened to the clang it made as it struck the cavern wall. Acting out like this didn't make the situation any better but it made her feel less miserable. Sighing Kayleena shuffled awkwardly towards the mouth of the cave. She had learned to listen in absence of her sight and had been able to spend periodic moments outside. There was fresher shoots of grass to be munched on. It was a tantalizing aroma that continued to draw her outside time and time again. What Daimhin didn't know couldn't hurt him. So what if she was taking risks, Kayleena's stomach was dictating her actions now. Pausing at the entrance, the mare gave a long listen to the myriad of sounds that registered in her ears. They twitched back and forth as they caught everything and Kayleena attempted to place all of what she was hearing. The rustle of twigs above could have been birds or squirrels moving around. A cool breeze teased her mane and Kayleena gave a quiet sound of pleasure. Too long ... it had been too long. Freedom wasn't as easy to obtain at the moment but she was taking it back - one step at a time. It would probably be a while before Daimhin would trust her enough to leave her on her own without the blindfold. For now she would have to endure the trial placed upon her. She'd yet to even meet Samsara. There was a little tremble that coursed through her at that thought. That meeting would still most likely occur and probably when she least expected it. Perhaps Daimhin had stashed her away because he didn't feel comfortable enough that she'd remain safe. He wanted to keep her to himself - that point was clear enough.

As she mused in quiet she began to seek out the patch of grass that she'd come out to grace on. She found it rather easily and settled in for a quiet grazing session.

What was going on back home? Had her little patch of land been snapped up once she'd left? How long had she been here? While Kayleena would have loved answers to all her questions she knew that they'd have to wait. While she'd thought of these questions she'd realized that the time she'd allotted for herself to graze had disappeared. If she wasn't careful she would attract unwanted attention to herself. Nodding calmly in acceptance the usdia carefully began to move in the direction of the cave. She gave a little snort of derision. She would never label the cave as her new home. Never!

The urgency of food intake settled Kayleena stood just inside the entrance to the cave. There wasn't a lot of other things that she could do. Only two options presented themselves to her: she could rest some more or try exploring the inner depths the cave must have contained. Even if she had not been blindfolded Kayleena might have been a little hesitant in option B. Exploration was a tricky venture at the best of times. Groaning she made her way back to the corner that she had dragged the blankets too and settled down. Rest would let her escape this place; if only for a while.
