Ka huddled underneath the sheltering tree. It was raining, it was cold and he was wet. He had no one to snuggle next to and the tree itself had prickly bark that didn't warrant leaning against. And as such he was quite miserable and sulky. Oh poor Ka. The tree chose this moment to dump a heap of water on his head. "Just lovely." he said. He looked up at the tree. "I didn't need a bath! I already had a shower. OR COULDN"T YOU TELL?" Ka half closed his eyes, might as well make the best of his somewhat soggy position and sleep. He only now missed his pack and only for their shared body heat.

This was totally not the time to be lost! Dark Tempest had been on one of her daily walks when the storm came out of nowhere. The mare grew frightened and lost sense of where she was. Rain pounded on her form plastering hair to pelt. It wasn't a huge deal that it got in the way of her eyes for Tempest couldn't see. It was still damn near uncomfortable however. She gave a grunt trying to find safe shelter to hide. The sound of rain bouncing off trees made it to her ears. She grew excited and rushed forward only to run into something. Warmth radiated against where she pressed. Her nose was against a muscle where she could feel a heartbeat. Her nostrils flared to take in a very earthly scent. And it was warm. Much warmer than the rain. Tempest gave a breath knowing she had probably ran into another azrein but part of her wanted to stay put underneath this tree. "Hello..." her voice was barely above a whisper more out of curiosity than fear. She perked hee ears forward to hear an answer.

Ka jolted awake, someones very cold nose was pressed up against his chest. He nearly panicked for a moment until a plaintivie greeting reached his ears. "Oh dear you startled me. I was asleep there for a moment." His eyes focused on the black and white mare before him. "Oh, you have really pretty eyes, did you know that?" Ka was fascinated by eyes that were not yellow. He had come from a place where the vast majority were various shades of yellow, the occasional striking orange, but he couldnt recall ever seeing a green. He gazed deep into them...something was missing. Her eyes searched but she appeared to look right through him, her ears focusing more on his voice then anything. He gasped. To have eyes so beautiful and not be able to see the world through them. "How did you find me? Through the rain?" He asked curiously. She had great muscle tone so either she was adept at navigation or she had some help along the way.

Tempest gave a bit of a whicker as if in apology, but kept her frame close to the male's. It was raining, she was wet, and he was warm. Plain and simple. His voice was strange as if playful to her, ears flicking forward trying to listen to his words. "I apologize....but I wonder how one can sleep with his rain?" The mare gave a gentle grunt in question before being caught off guard by his comment about her eyes. No one had really said anything about them before seeing as she had never met anyone outside her family to comment on them. "Umm...I've never seen them. Mother says they are green though. But thank you for saying so, kind sir." Tempest felt her cheeks flush with a bit of embarrassment even as the rain gently pounded against them. At his question, she gave a shrug. "I simply ran and listened. I heard where the rain pattern shifted because it was hitting something. I simply guessed it was a tree or some sort of shelter. I guess I was right huh? Say what are you doing out here anyway? In the cold and rain and what not?" Dark Tempest tilted her head a little as one of her ears perked forward and up as if in interest as to what the stallion had to say.

He laughed a bit, "It is hard to sleep in the rain, but i was traveling for so long and there is no descent cave around here...or at least i couldn't find it if there is. Your eyes are very green, quite different really." The wind picked up and a branch thwaked him on his butt. He tensed and tried not to jerk too hard. This tree really had it in for him. He might be better off in the rain he thought for a moment. At least she was here to keep him warm now. He perked back to attention as she explained how she had got there. "Wow wish my hearing was that strong. I guess you get really good at that kind of thing with all the practice." He nodded...then remembered she couldn't tell that he had. "I am trying to find somewhere to settle, so far i have met one or two azrein but nothing has caught at my heels and told me to stay. I seem to be heading in a general southward direction. I got caught out her by unfortunate accident. Last night I had a cave and a family of moles as company but I moved on and the rain moved in."

"You travel? Oh I'm so jealous." Tempest couldn't help but admit as her brow furrowed in slightly sadness. Because of her limited sight, she wasn't really permitted to go much of anywhere far without anyone that had eyes. Most of the time, Mom and Dad were busy whereas Kai was too concentrated on guarding the herd or hanging out with his cousin and new friends. Tempest didn't mind being alone, but sometimes she yearned for companionship and to be able to travel. But she doubted she could ever leave home for long. It felt too familiar. Tempest laughed a little. "My hearing is just fine. I'm sure your rump will be as well. The tree didn't mean it." Her tail flicked a little as she shook her head in a chuckle, ears perked forward in intent listening. "So you are on a quest? I hope you find what you are searching for, dear Sir. Maybe you should have stayed in the cave. Would have been a lot more warmer than this tree." Tempest gave a snort as she stretched her frame a little bit more for restlessness than anything else. "Well maybe the rain will let up soon and you can go back to travel. I'm sure you miss the open road and all." Tempest gave a smile and a gentle snort wondering what it was like to travel on one's own. It certainly would get lonely but ah all the different creatures and azrein he would meet. It must be one heck of an adventure.

"Still I don't think this tree is too enamored with my presence. I probably should have stayed in the cave for one more night, however it is now a days travel behind me, mores the pity. At least we got to meet and share stories, I always like to listen about what others do or plan to do, who they have met and what their cultures are like. It's one of the perks of traveling...being stuck under heartless trees in the rain being the downside. What I really miss are the open vistas the places you can look out over and sort of pick whichever direction you want to travel and the further south I go the more lush and green things get. Its hard to believe that there is supposed to be a desert down there. Places such as those are a little to hot for me but at least they are dry. Ugh." he sneezed. "My sinuses don't appreciate the rain either." Once his head cleared he asked, "What are you doing out here? Fancied yourself and adventure?'

"Well cave's too far and the tree will just have to deal with us." Tempest gave a bit of the snort as if warning the tree to behave itself with them as its guests. Her ears flicked a little as the rain still continued to fall around them, but she was steadily feeling warmer. "Well I'm sure it would be great to look around. I wonder how the world looks sometimes other than what I smell or what someone tells me." Tempest tried not to become sensitive when someone spoke of the world, but there were times were she grew jealous and uncomfortable because of her total sight loss which sometimes made her wonder about what it would be like to see. Her ears flicked a little listening to the sound of the rain, but mostly to the male's voice as he spoke of his dreams and his adventures. She gave a giggle nudging his neck with her nose. "I'm sorry about her nose. Maybe you'll stop sneezing soon when the rain stops." She shook her head giving a gentle snort. "Oh no! I wandered farther than what I was used to and then the rain caught me. I guess it was a bit of bad luck." Dark Tempest gave a whicker leaning against Ka's frame in order to gain more warmth from the rains. Hopefully it will stop soon.

"You seem to see more then some others do, and they have fine vision, cept they never seem to see much further then their own noses." He snorted, "I hate azrein like that, all they are concerned with is how high on the totem pole they can climb and after a while the whole game gets rather dull."

Ka looked up, "Oh! I see blue sky! Soon the wet will end!" He grinned down at her. She was rather sandwhiched up against him. At least he was no longer cold. "Thank you, for keeping me warm. I have to say you are most pleasant company Ms. ...um Oh I don't even know your name... My name is Ka Valko."

Tempest tilted her head as he spoke fiercely about the azrein that were so into gaining power. "I've never met any like that before...you must come from a very competitive place." Her nose twitched a little in thought, ears flicking forward then back against her skull.

At his exclamation, she gave a bit of a chuckle in a whinny. "Don't be so sure. There are times where I feel the sun's rays upon my back and it is still raining. Nature is a strange lady." Tempest tilted her head realizing that she nor he knew each other's names. "Ahh that's my fault. I should have introduced myself. My name is Dark Tempest. It's been a pleasure, Sir." She bowed her head a little giving a gentle whicker. "Ka Valko? That's a strong name if I ever heard of one. Your parents must have seen high hopes for you."

"They did but by giving me a strong name they didn't think it would completely transfer over into who I am you know? I left on the principle I didn't want to be ruled over and well it kinda mucked up their plans. I am glad I did it. I'm sure there is someone or something out there for me." He looked down at her. "How about you? What do you wish to do? Besides get dry." He grinned as the first hint of sun flashed through the glade its strong rays warming the landscape instantly.

The mare gave a gentle snort as if understanding what Ka was saying. "I understand, though. My parents raised me enough to let me set my own path. I was named for my nature, and my parents wanted to keep the Dark family name in there." At his question, she gave a gentle sigh quietly in thought before she answered. "I want to see the world through my own eyes, but that'll never happen. I guess I want to be able to be on my own...y'know? Have my own sense of self without the dangers of not being able to see. Mother says that's not a weakness though. She says that because I can't see, it's a good thing. It makes me...something that others are not...whatever that means." The mare gave a gentle snort looking up toward the sky. "I feel the sun...the rain is almost done..."

Ka wished more than anything he could help this mare see. She was capable, able and mostly independent but her lack of sight made it dangerous for her to be alone and that seemed unfair in only the cruelest of ways. "Have you stayed at the castle at all? I would think it would be easier to be on your own there. No one would harm you but again you wouldn't be truly alone." He crossed his eyes. "What a conundrum."

He gently brushed a lock of black hair away from her face to get a better look at the source of all this trouble. " I feel awful for having no way to help you see. Its silly I know but it's there all the same. Your family must help alot though eh?"

Tempest tilted her head. "The castle? Why would I want to go? I've honestly never been. Uncle Ion never had the thought to take me there and I always felt comfortable at home." Her tail flicked a little as she gave a bit more thought into the idea. "I mean I'm not lonely...but I wish I could do some things on my own without having to be a burden on family or anyone else." Her nostrils flared as she gave an irritated snort.

His touch surprised her a little but it wasn't unwelcoming. She gave a gentle whicker shaking her head. "No troubles, Ka. It's my burden to bear, not a stranger whose intentions are well enough." Tempest gave a grunt feeling as if he had babied her in some way. She wasn't a child and though she was blind, she could still figure out some things for herself based on her other senses. "Oh yes. My brother at most times. Then there is Mother and Father who train me. I do fight but not well enough yet. Mother says I will continue to get better with practice."

"Then I don't see why you couldn't become more independent. You seem quite capable to me." He nodded. She was right she could deal with almost anything that came her way. "I would love to watch you train sometime, I have always found the martial arts fascinating, I myself am somewhat out of practice, havent had much of a need for combat in my wanderings."
