She was rarely active during the day. Dusk was perhaps the earliest that the star-speckled female would bother waking herself and stepping out from her den. Often times she napped through the day under the shade of a tree or within the comfort and cool of her family’s den. She stood out far too much in the day time and to her she wasn’t exactly a fan of the sunlit sky. It was blue, and on occasion the sky was filled with clouds that shaped themselves in interesting ways but that was the extent of its appeal. At night time, however, there were endless heavenly bodies arranged just so, precise and constant. The moon and its ever-changing phases, and the mysterious darkness that the earth fell into had a sort of romantic charm to it.
Her aunt was a talented seer who used the stars to guide her visions. Zerase was quietly envious of such a talent but thankfully, Luned had been kind enough to make her observations of the heavens something that Zerase had access to. Night after night the two sat atop Zerase’s favorite hill and observed the sky, finding patterns in the heavenly lights and calling them by their common name. There was the lion, the man’s arrow which, ironically, was a guiding body, and the smaller arrow. There were stars that formed the great serpents in the sky and others that formed leaping zebras and giraffes.
Luned had retired for the night to seek out her brother and to discuss a few things. Zerase remained on the hilltop, the same place she haunted night after night, and watched as a few whisps of clouds passed over the moon.

After a little time back home, Chander had taken a great liking towards the star-pelted lioness. She seemed to be on his mind more than anything else. More than food even, and for the male that was saying something. He had butterflies in his belly right now, even.. Just thinking about her. He cleared his throat, trying to soothe the butterflies that twisted his stomach into knots. He knew where to find her.. Same place he always found her. She was sitting on her hill, watching the stars. Though he could have sat right where he was, and watched the stars on her pelt instead. They told a better story, in his opinion. With a smile, he walked closer to her, stepping up the hill with ease. "Good evening, my dear." He said, and his voice was soft and charming.. How it usually was.

The lioness was surprised to have company yet again that night but one would never guess with the easy, casual way she turned her head and smiled in turn. There was an air about her that radiated calm and tranquility, however it was that same air that often warranted caution. This male, however, amused her more than anything.
He had a gentle way about him but there was a strange light about him that hadn't been there the night before. Previously, he carried something on his shoulders. This night he glided over the grass, glowing with confidence. The guilt that touched his eyes had lifted only to be replaced with something... lighter.
"Well well, if it isn't my clumsy friend from the night before." She welcomed him with a light chuckle. "Have you come to watch the heavens tonight?"

When she turned her neck oh so slightly, looking at him with a smile, he felt his heart pound. She was such a pretty thing. Her eyes like the moon among her pelt of stars. He smiled, nodding his head in greeting. He was always tongue tied around her, and it likely made him look like a very large goof. "Good evening," he said, his voice charming and light. The guilt he had felt at leaving any children behind had been sort of..wiped away upon her arrival into his life. He didn't have time to think of those babies... if he was too tied up in thinking about her. "I did, though I was doing that from down there." He pointed to the bottom of the hill and smiled. "Coming up here, only let's me see stars." He said, looking back at the sky. His heaven, was in her eyes, and there were only so many subtle ways he could say that.

She couldn't help but smile at the change in both tone and demeanor she was seeing in the male. He seemed less distracted, less burdened, and less miserable than the last time she'd met him. The haze had lifted and perhaps a little of his mask had chipped off. He had a genuine smile on his maw and a bounce in his step. The dark lioness settled herself into a sit and joined the bright-pelted male in gazing upwards.
"It's as close to the great lion as we can come up here. His great eye has shut as he rests an the stars shine all the brighter in his absence." She mused lightly. "My father would tell me that for every life that is living, has lived, and will live- there is a star to represent them out there. It's a nice thought. I often wonder which represents myself."
