Dark Tempest had just said good-bye to her mother. She was out for a stroll (close to the lands of course) in hopes of meeting someone new. Her hooves were carefully placed on the ground as she used as much of her other senses as possible to get around. Her eyes stared hauntingly ahead as her ears flicked to listen for any sounds she could. Being the only daughter of Dark Tide and Kainda, it made Dark Tempest even more treasured to her parents and brother, Kai Darksun. As much as the two bickered, they shared a close bond.

Tempest's nostrils flared as she took in the scent of water. She picked up her stride a little and her legs placing her hooves on the grasslands. Her tail trailed behind her much like a train as she moved, her nostrils continuing to follow the smell trail of the water. She stopped short when she heard the sound of the water rushing against the ground. Tempest lowered her head brushing her muzzle against grass until she stopped when she didn't touch ground but felt the cool air between the water and her nose. The mare lowered her mouth into the stream drinking steadily, her ears perked and alert as she tried to listen for anything or anyone that might come up around her.

Abdul, having just left his good friend Rameses, had embarked on a journey Eastward to find more sand for the rest of the pyramid. It wasn't going to be easy but he was certain that his calculations were in all respects correct up to the last brick. The real challenge would be finding a way to produce a gold cap for the top. Nearly eight hundred thousand sandstone bricks capped by about two hundred fifty thousand limestone bricks, for a total of one point zero five million blocks of natural brick to construct his desired tomb. All topped with a two ton gold triangular prism cap. That would take years. Twenty to be precise. And this wasn't going to be a grand one either. Abdul sighed. He was happy to help his friend, but the thought of already starting on a tomb for his burial was a saddening adventure. Though he supposed it was worth it in the name of culture. Not too many people can claim to build a pyramid, and as far as Abdul knew he was he first horse to do so.

As he wandered on the banks of a stream, looking for silt deposits that may indicate the collection of lime and quartz. Abdul wasn't the most graceful of Azrein and tended to slip in and out of the water. It wasn't long before he had caught a rock with his hoof and tumbled into to the river mane first.

Dark Tempest had heard the foot falls at first. She immediately got into a more defensive position. Her ears were erect and listening closely as she closed her eyes to concentrate more fully. She slowed her breathing as she felt the steady vibrations of his footfalls until she heard the splash. Tempest nearly jumped herself, but tried to keep a careful footing on the sturdy ground. With eyes closed, she ventured forward listening to the possible struggling that may happen next.

"H-Hey! Are you all right?" The mare called out stopping short of where Abdul had fallen, her eyes opening only when she felt certain she didn't need to heighten her other senses. Her nostrils flared as she took in the musk of what smelled like a stallion. She shook her head a little trying to prevent a sneeze. Tempest only hope that she wasn't being stupid talking to a fallen branch or something.

Abdul sighed heavily trying to figure out what had just happened. The mud was too wet where he had stepped and gave way under his legs he presumed, though it felt like he had clipped a rock. He was now covered head to tail in mud, though it didn't make any sort of a difference seeing as his color was a muddy brown with a light tan underneath. At least now he was a nice even dull. Abdul looked up with his bright green eyes at the pretty striped mare that had come to his "rescue". "Oh..uhm. Yeah I'm alright. Just a little muddy. Reminds me of the time I lost my sister and helped that colt with the broken leg." Though he never saw either of them since that day he first arrived on the island. He stood up in the river, letting the water wash out the mud on his hooves and ankles. Abdul kept his gaze down until he finally mustered the courage to look at the mare again. On his way up to her face he noticed that the necklace she wore was about the same color as his eyes, which were only two shades lighter than her own.

He stood almost dumbfounded at her appearance, which was beauty in itself. She had the inverted color of a grevyi (Grevy's Zebra) with the coat pattern of a corbettii (Indochinese Tiger). Striking to say the least.

Tempest almost breathed a sigh of relief as she heard his movement and his voice. Her nostrils flared smelling dirt, mud, and all sorts of other things as well as his own male musk. She was interested in what he looked like, but her lack of sight didn't really help her much in seeing interesting patterns on those that inhabit her world. "Oh. That's a relief. I wasn't sure I'd be much help to you...I can only travel so fast with so much weight, y'know?" Tempest gave a bit of a snort in laugh flicking her head to brush the hair from her face. "And the fact that I can't see...well..." The mare trailed off looking away from the sound of his voice as if in embarrassment. "So are you still looking for your sister? Whatever happened to that colt you rescued?" Tempest was trying to get her mind off of things especially the thing about her not having her sight. Maybe he wouldn't think of her defective...

Abdul sighed passively as if he were saddened by the fact he hadn't had any luck with his tasks, though he honestly didn't mind it as much because he knew they would play themselves out in whatever way they wanted to. "Yes. To no avail my perquisition has left me without much. Save for knowledge. Which I think is more important than holding vexation about things without vicissitude. Though I suppose that since she has a coat like mine it would be easy to dismiss her." Abdul realized she most likely didn't understand any of what just poured from his mind. Yet he continued with minimal pause. "As for the colt, I imagine he's doing well and in his teens by now. If equines can have teenage years. As I understand we usually don't live past a few human years. Though I suppose being more than just simple horses grants a more than average life span." Finally pausing to allow her a response. Yet her eyes poked at his intrigue. They seemed oddly vacant. Not as if she was unintelligent or an invalid. As if... "I have a question for you." Abdul stepped to her side. Doing so he flicked his tail to test the reflex. About to ask if she were blind, he took it back at the last minute and instead chose something that may perhaps be less offensive. "Can you s--state your name?"

Her ears perked forward listening to the stallion with much interest. "I'm sorry that your search for your sister isn't going very well. I would help you, but I haven't seen her." The mare's mouth gave a bit of a quirk as she sighed. A lot of things were restricted to her because of her eyesight. "Oh I'm sure we did. I sure went through them." The mare laughed a little. "I probably am still in my adolescent stage of life. At least in my mind anyway. I try to have too much fun." The mare flicked her tail as she gave a wide grin laughing. She tilted her head a this question her ears flicking in his direction as he stepped beside her. However, his tail was given no reaction by her as she kept looking straight, her ears however in his direction. "My name? OH I'm sorry. I should have done that earlier. It's Dark Tempest. What of you?" She pawed at the ground a little nodding her head in greeting to the stallion.

Abdul looked into her eyes intensely, still curious as to her sight. It was apparent that she either was blind, or simple had excellent bearing and wasn't bothered by how close he had gotten. "Dark Tempest. That suits you." He said cheerfully. I am Abdul. An exotic name for a plain horse if you ask me." Abdul later suggested that they go away from the bank as the mud was becoming slick and he feared falling again. Once was enough for him. "I don't think you can have too much 'fun'. Though I do suppose that if you do everything at once there would be nothing left to do." When they were both on the edge near a group pf trees he turned back for more conversation. "Being in the curious nature that I am, without trying to inconsiderate of the condition..." He stammered over his words a bit. Asking somebody about their disability was not an easy task, especially for one who cared so much about the feelings of others. "I was wondering if perhaps you were...amaurotic." Abdul abruptly paused at the last syllable.

"You think so? Thank you. Father has Dark in his name so he tries to pass it on to his other children much like his brothers. Your name is Abdul? I think it fits you. And I doubt you are plain. You speak too strangely." The mare giggled a little attracted to his use in big words. At his advice, she moved away from the banks using the sound of the water to move as well as keeping in tune with his steps and listening to his motions. Eventually, they did find their way from the waters to land. "I think that having fun is just something you do. You can never run out of too much fun just like there is an abundance in sadness, and anger, and envy, and gluttony, and joy, and kindness, and all these other things. There is always something to do." Tempest gave a laugh as she stood beside a tree using it to brace herself as well as to get a better idea of where she was.

Then there was stammering and a few pauses as Abdul was trying to ask her something. Even if she didn't totally understand what he was saying, she could pick out a few things and she knew the question would come up sooner or later. "Yes, Abdul. I am blind. And no, I am not mad. I get that question all the time. Why were you so nervous about asking me?" Tempest tilted her head as she gave a gentle snort.
