User ImageIt was not in Gintare's nature to suffer from regret, though she was capable of feeling the emotion. There had even been a few times in her life when she was, in fact, tormented by it, but those were a long time ago now. At this point in her life such a thing was no longer a danger. She was able to look back on events and dismiss them as being in the past, even if she hadn't liked the outcome.

At the moment Tare was not the least plagued by such unpleasant feelings as regret. Instead she was admiring the scenery around her and thinking that the lands seemed vaguely familiar. But that wasn't very likely. She was very good at relative locations and had an excellent memory for places she had been. They were useful skills for a nomadic rogue like herself to possess and cultivate. So the fact that the scenery vaguely resembled the lands by that pirate place didn't mean she had made her way back to them.

"Well, here's hoping I haven't," she remarked to herself. "That could be awkward."

She didn't know how old the cubs she had left there might be by now. Adolescents, she thought, but perhaps they were older. She had never raised a litter of cubs to adulthood, and she had not been paying that much attention to her own aging process. As far as Tare was concerned she was still young and attractive, and thinking about growing old only hastened the process.

He had never been insane. That was his story and he was sticking to it. There was always, and still remained, a greedy little thing coiled in the back of his mind. A mild obsession with all that glittered could hardly be defined as madness, could it? Trinkets, interesting sea shells, beautiful golden rings, coin, and washed up treasures that he could decorate his cave with- all of it was deserving of admiration. After all, what better way to impress a pretty little thing? If anything and anyone had an eye for the shining and the lovely that exceeded him it was the fairer gender. He could appreciate them, perhaps more than he could appreciate a glint of sunlight in the sand.

All of that was probably why the lovely on the horizon distracted him away from his given task.

His pride had come into a new way with the arrival of a new set of rulers. One was from the freelands, the other had been of no special birth from within the pride. The later had been appointed to maintain the culture and history of the pride as best she could, the former had brought with him worldly experience with him, and with that, the hope that they could survive. Much of the pride remained passive and clung to the old ways. Tulio, however, found their old life dull and empty. No one got anywhere in life by talking to trees and rocks. He wasn't the most adventurous sort, but he was curious enough that when the opportunity presented itself to venture outside of the pride's territory as a newly appointed thief, he leapt at it.

He was supposed to be scoping the lay of the land and gaining some information about the nearby territories. Any thief worth his mane knew the target, knew where to get in, how to get out, and who might be snapping at their tail if they were unfortunate enough to get caught. It was apparently standard procedure. Shandor insisted that the more they knew the more efficient they'd be. Tulio quite agreed.

He approached with a bounce in his step and a confident sway to his stride. A smirk played on his features as he pretended to glance past the lady. "So alone. It's dangerous out here you know. There could be flesh-eating leopards behind every rock and tree." He turned his gaze on the young lioness. "Or rogues with less-than-honorable intent."

Gintare had devoted too much of her attention to the scenery and not enough attention to the creatures that might be moving through it. Nevertheless, it was not difficult to spot the confidently swaying lion who now approached her, carrying himself as if he hadn't a care in the world. When she saw him Tare's amber eyes lit up. Just his posture and carriage pleased the hedonistic lioness, who always approved of people who had pride and confidence in themselves.

Except for the overweening pride that the pads of the Ukuucha'Wafalme seemed to have, but even they could be fun to toy with. Their poor little brains were rarely up to the task of processing the idea of a female who could manage perfectly well without males, and preferred to do so the majority of the time. She enjoyed males, but she didn't need them, and that seemed to be a difficult concept for those stuffy pads to grasp. It was so much fun to break their brains.

Tare grinned back at the dark-maned lion who seemed so solicitous and concerned for her welfare. He actually started off sounding like one of the more polite pads-to-be that she took such delight in teasing, but she'd never yet met someone who brought up leopards as if they were any kind of a threat. She made an amused "hm" sound at the mostly preposterous idea before letting him know, "I'm not afraid of leopards."

"And as for rogues with less-than-honorable intent..." She paused and grinned wickedly. "Those are my favorite kind. I don't suppose you've seen any around, have you?"

The lion chuckled and took a few cautious steps forward. This one was cheeky, delightfully so. The easy grin, the confident way she held herself, and the playful tone of voice. It wouldn't kill him to stop for a chat. At best, perhaps he'd gain the affections of a female for a night or two, at worst he'd have a paw print imprinted into the side of his face. Somewhere in the middle? He'd have a good chat and break the silence he'd been traveling in for a few days. The good out-weighed the bad.

"Oh I don't know..." He said, rolling his eyes up towards the sky. "Trouble doesn't normally attract itself."

He leaned in a little closer. "How about a name? Where I come from, they call me Hazard."

Gintare flirted her tail into a quirking invitation for him to come closer and continue their discussion. She wouldn't mind if he came a lot closer, actually. She could tell now that he was closer that this lion was startlingly good-looking, and he smelled fascinatingly of...something. Tare didn't claim to recognize every scent in the world, but she was intrigued by her inability to identify this one when it was so appealing.

"I suppose not," she agreed. "You sound like you speak from experience though."

His caution interested her, too, actually. Young lions might be nervous around a confident, attractive lioness like her, but this one didn't look as if he ought to be. So why the caution? Tare doubted that she looked all that dangerous. Very few of the lions she'd met had thought she did. They'd learned otherwise if they tried anything she didn't like. So far this lion hadn't done that though.

"Hazard, huh? Sounds like you do know a bit about trouble. I'm Gintare."

Tulio gladly and easily accepted the invitation. His stride smoothed out and his posture grew lax and easy. A dark, exotic lovely with a pair of honey-gold eyes full of cunning and wit. It was an encouraging sign. At least he'd not crossed someone uninteresting. The fact that she was easy on the eyes was a welcome one.

"Experience enough. Trouble and I keep close company. Sometimes we share a kill." He smirked. "Not great for conversation but it keeps life interesting."

He jerked his chin towards nothing in particular. "So what brings you out here?"

Gintare could not resist grinning at Hazard's turn of phrase. Sometimes they share a kill. She liked that. What a treat that this piece of eye candy should also be a lion with some wits. It was such a delectable change of pace from the usual nimrods she seemed to run across most of the time. Perhaps, though, she was making too much of this and he only seemed remarkable because of the dull company she'd lately been forced to keep. Either way, she was enjoying herself for now, and as usual that was enough.

Striving for and achieving nonchalance with minimal effort, Tare answered the question posed her with the most ridiculous thing that came to mind in the brief time between inhaling and speaking: "Why, looking for someone who's acquainted with trouble so that they could introduce us, of course."

For good measure she winked. Broadly. Obviously she was joking, or perhaps just teasing and continuing the dialogue in the vein already introduced, but a lion could be forgiven for interpreting her answer otherwise. If Hazard ended up misconstruing the intent behind her reply, either deliberately or due to a certain thickness around the skull, Tare would probably be all right with that outcome.

The lion inflated under the female's playful gaze, his chest swelling and his smirk finally touching on his eyes with a playful but somewhat mischievous light. Oh this one was fun. So many of the local lionesses were too busy grieving over their lost...something or others. He had a madness of sorts, if one could call it that. His muse had been anything and everything that sparkled. He had horded everything that caught the sun just so- be it seashells or pretty treasures he would sometimes find half buried in the sand. That love had never fully lifted. Frankly, if that was madness he didn't want to be sane.

He'd be wealthy and insane. That was just fine by him.

"Oh I don't know if you want to be introduced to trouble." He continued their little charade, amused by the conversation and the implications behind it. "You might not like where trouble will take you once you get overly friendly with him."

"Well, then maybe I won't let him take me anywhere," Tare replied. "I'm content where I am, for the moment, and I don't let anyone make my decisions for me." She grinned, but she meant it. Nobody made her decisions for her. Right or wrong, all her choices were here own, and she stood by them. And sometimes she made some very bad choices, which she did her best to learn from and not to repeat.

"So, Hazard, assuming I'm not going anywhere, no matter what your friend Trouble may say, what do you suggest we do at this point? We know each other's names and just enough about each other to be interesting, but not nearly enough to be boring. I'd say that's probably one of the best kinds of acquaintances there is. Wouldn't you?"

There was a desired outcome here, but Tare would be damned if she straight-out said what she wanted. That wasn't how the game worked. It took all the fun out of things, and more than random meaningless sex, Tare liked to have fun. She didn't have to have sex to have fun, either, she had learned. Banter was perfectly all right. Or other things. Depending on her mood, simply sleeping was more fun than anything else she might do, but she didn't need company for that, and right now she had company. No sense in wasting attractive male company.
